Macfam 41 and the geo dog Southridge Laird of Kinlochaline were out today to grab a few caches up north. We were familiar with the area and so it was a quick PnG. Didn't turn the car off. Scary though. TFTC
Saturday and beautiful weather, what else is there to do than geocaching? Ah yes some food shopping we stopped at Penray's for some veg then tackled nearly all the caches between otaki river and Te Horo. We were mostly successful in finding the caches and had an enjoyable walk. Slightly irritated by the occasional bird deterring sounds (so weird! Does it really work??) but ended out walk going barefoot along the beach. The water temperature wasn't the issues, the pebbles aren't really round here which we didn't know but we felt.commited so we did it This cache was the first of the day, could have nearly walked here with our veggies it must also be one of the oldest tmann caches we found so far! Cute cache with a fair amount of spider web, nest etc on it - how fitting! All good here, TFTC !
This was a must get for my trip up here as it falls within a 10km bracket from home that I havent found a cache in. Its the second to last said bracket within 1000km from home. Almost completed that challenge. Being from Australia this was a fitting cache for me to find. Up from Dunedin for the weekend and heading to the cannonball run events near Levin. Thanks for the cache, tmann421#5874 ** Make your way to Dunedin for New Zealands next large multi-day event. GCA7ZHD Geo Toroa will be held on NZs Labour Day long weekend 26-27th October 2024 **
I decided to explore the former highway and find soem along here. TFTC!!South Australia is the place be for GCA1DNA - MEGA - February 29th, 2024 in Adelaide! Hope to see you at The Great Leap Forward!
**19,092**Mrs Geckoh drew the short straw on this one, but that e cache was quickly uncovered and as these are not one of her phobias, the log was quickly signed and the cache returned. TFTC
Recently it was my birthday, and GeoHubby (GNARwhal) single-handedly planned a weekend away (including childcare) up to Rotorua to collect the PWGT caches.
We stopped to pick up this cache on the way.
From the previous posts we thought we knew what we might find. What we didn’t expect was a MASSIVE slater nest. Eww…
Still, thanks for the cache. A great way to start off our adventure.

Flossie 110 uncovered it - giving me a bit of a fright log very wet but we were able to sign it. Thanks for the cache
Quick easy find! Very funny cache container lmao tftc! Log book slightly damp but otherwise good condition
Mrs Tparty took the challenge to find this one. Redback was throwing a party and all his slater friends came over. She struggled with the lid so I got the job of breaking in. TFTC
Isis58 and I are on our way to Ohau for a weekend of caching events. This is our first stop since flying in from "overseas". An easy find here, I'm pleased that's only plastic. Weren't sure if Isis58 had found it so added her name as well, turns out she has. Thanks for placing tmann421

Ants! They’ve taken up residence here as guardians of this one.
All fine inside- many thanks

Nice quick find. Unfortunately i upset the resident bugs when retrieving lol. Tftc
I accidentally ended up having an afternoon in Otaki after my car suddenly stopped while driving thru the township on my way to Manawatu Gorge. So I decided to do some caching here before heading back to Wellington. Found the cache easily enough, it had a very live shiny black spider in residence and helping guard it - a bit of a hoot given the cache name.
Went to leave and car wouldn't start again!!! Luckily some of my family happened to be at Peka Peka beach so they came to the rescue and AA towed it back to Wellington later that night.
The country road was surprisingly busy, so did the necessities in the car. The cache was difficult to open as the lid is brittle and damaged, may need to bring a tool to assist. Thanks for the fun cache it made me smile

Headed down to Waikanae for some caches. Quick detour here to pick up a scary cache. Log all fine. Thanks for the smiley.
Day two of my road trip from Nelson to Auckland. Today I'm driving from Paraparaumu to my hotel in Auckland Central. Time to find a few caches along the way. Weather was a bit dodgy to start with but gradually improved as I headed north. This was the first cache I came to. No problems with the find although I was more creeped out by the actual creepy crawlies infesting the space than the cache guardian itself. TFTC, Biggles.
Found at 5 January 2021 11:52 am.
I'm on a short geocaching roadtrip to Taranaki, logging my finds as I go (where possible). Will expand when I get home. TFTC

Took quite a long route to get here as I was on foot (having got to Otaki by bus) and wasn't keen to walk on the shoulder of SH1 south of the bridge. As it turns out it might have been relatively safe as at the moment there are road cones I could have stayed behind.
I had earlier been uncertain whether it was possible to access Te Waka Road from the northern end, but noticed in passing on my previous visit to Otaki that there was indeed a means of doing so for pedestrians and cycles only with a short walkway between the southern riverbank walkway and Te Waka Road. Time did not permit for me to head for GZ on that visit.
Today it was a pleasant walk in the countryside down that road to get to Addington Road, even though the whole exercise took the best part of an hour each way from Otaki main road shops as compared to potentially a lot less than that via State Highway 1. But the long route was definitely the nicer option!
The forecast had been for showers but there were only a few very light sprinkles now and again at the start of the journey. The only downside was knowing that in Wellington the weather was much better (often it's the other way round!)
No problems with the cache, a quick easy find.
Everything in order.
TFTC which qualifies me for a new Wonders of the World souvenir.

Pursuing NZ in 400' Challenge geocaches today. S40°46' is one I need. Just 7 minutes to go to complete the challenge. TFTC
Youngest son had a half day at school today so we came up to look for this cache together. A quick find in the first place checked, hidden as we suspected it might be. An interesting country road to drive down with lots of horses and calves to look at. TFTC
The lockdown has lifted, but with our International wings clipped, a domestic road trip is in full swing.
A nice little detour, cache is safe and dry, Thanks

Found 5 years ago with Clippie but never logged it online. Still remember this one vividly. TFTC
This is day eight of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter there so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University. I took the early Bluebird ferry over to Wellington this morning and headed up the coast stopping for a cache every 10kms.
Another quick stop. TFTC.

Find #3003. A day in the Otaki area, primarily for the Festival of Pots and Garden Art. Used the afternoon, on the bike, covering 29km to collect 15 caches on the northern side of the Otaki river. Otaki offers far more than just the shops on SH1. The village and beach settlements are charming and full of history, both European and Maori.
A quick drive-by random find on my return from a successful day north of the Otaki river. SL TFTC

Day 2 of our New Years trip up to the North Island. Today we traveled from Upper Hutt through the winding Akatarawa Rd up to Palmerston North. Back on the very slow State Highway after a bit of a reprieve for a cache loop. A nice quick find here. Mum thought it was cute and I told her spiders arnt meant to be cute. I hate spiders but as this one isnt so bad we have dropped a fav point. We left a Rainbow Bead Tail in the cache. Thanks for the effort involved in placing and creating this cache for all of us to enjoy.
Thanks tmann421 for the cache. It’s #1026 for us. We found your cache on 22 November 2018. Quick grab on the way to shops in Otaki.
On a long trip down to the mega with Lis's crew. So for me it good for numbers and favorites caches. With several stops and a lot of caches and several souvenirs up for grabs the trip was the perfect opportunity to get my numbers up and get some challenges that I have qualified for.
I remember going to New Plymouth as a 17 year old and worrying about redbacks. We didn't have anything poisonous in the north so the thought scared me. We didn't see any so my worrying was in vain. A quick find here. Thanks for the neat hide
I stopped here for a quick look on my way past. I parked just up the road on the grass and walked back to where I thought the cache would be. A car came up the road from the highway and had to stop behind my car while some other traffic was coming the other way. Well, I wasn't expecting road rage out here. What an impatient and rude person he was. Wow! If that's what the locals are like I'm glad I don't live anywhere near here.
The cache is in good condition. All nice and dry.
Thank you

The EtherClan invaded [@TwigNZ](http://coord.info/PRPHK6E)'s castle for the weekend with the aim of heading south to chase a World Turtle.
The first priority was pure numbers to count towards the souvenirs of the current promotion, and the second was a lonely (puzzle) cache that hadn't been found in 1000+ days.
With the puzzle solved, we set off on Saturday morning with Priority 2 set as the start of Priority 1.
We're caching our way back north now, but we had an offshoot for some caches near the beach at Pukerua Bay which caused the wheels fell off our P1 mission when EtherMaster6 asked if he could play for a bit.
It turned into a lot longer than a bit and it looks like the World Turtle souvenir is swimming out to sea without us, but the memories that the boys made skimming stones into the waves and searching for Mermaid's Purses are more important
Easy find here while Twig turned the car around.
Thanks for my next souvenir (although I'm still a long way short from the Turtle...)

Found today whilst out dropping off a TB and stopping for lunch with my grandmother and TwigNZ. TFTC, TNLNSL
On our way to Taupo and stop in to collect this intriguing cache! Very hot today. Rehomed a snail from the top. TFTC
Having just spend a nice long weekend visiting in Auckland, I flew back into Paraparaumu Airport this evening and had an hour or so of daylight left and no particular need to hurry home, so thought I might try to pick up a Cache or two on the drive home. I saw that this was just off S H 1, so reckoned it was worth a quick detour to check it out. A lovely evening weather wise, and being a Sunday it was very quiet with absolutely minimal muggle activity. So parked up right by G Z, and after a brief search I soon had the Cache in hand, signed, and then replaced as found, before quickly being on my way.
Interesting container - not one my son would thank you for lol! Thanks for the Cache

I couldn't resist finding at least one tmann cache while I was up this way today. Accurate coords led me directly to the cache with barely any search required. If the cache description hadn't prepared me in adavnce I might have been startled at finding this. TFTC.
We had been down in Wellington for the weekend, travelling back to Tauranga Sunday in the rain. By the time we reached this section of our journey the rain had eased off, so we took the opportunity of finding this one. Many thanks for the placement, much appreciated.
Log wasn't at all wet and still had space for at least 6 visitors.
Replaced it anyway. I note a few people claimed to have visited but haven't signed the log!

A quick find while on the road to the 2016 Mega, first for the weekend. Thanks for the cache.
We had a fair idea of what was going to be found here .... and sure enough. Another in the bag on our way north. TFTC #9227
After various misadventures and a late start we were finally on our way to Turangi for the geocaching weekend. We didn't have time to stop for many caches on the way up but this was a fun one. I'm glad he wasn't real! Found with Jaeh68.
Logged with GCDroid. Was wondering what the reason for this cache name was and soon found out.
I had to drop my 6 year old daughter off at her cousins house in Wellington so what better excuse to grab a few caches along the way with out the rest of the family in-tow. Luckily they didn't come as I took six hours to drive what normally would be two hours!
Made a quick find here on the way back north. Cache is all in order.
Thanks for the cache and the smiley.

#2741. Heading north today on a short excursion to find yet another skindo A-Z cache and build up my numbers to get over 250 cache finds in September. Picking up various caches in the Horowhenua area on the way. Parked right next to the GZ and had an instant find. Glad we don't get ones this big back home in Wellington. Took a huge wrestle with the beast to extract the log from its fierce grip. Resisted the temptation to smash it with a stick and laid it back where I found it waiting for its next potential victim. Thanks for the cache.
#109. Another nice and easy park'n'grab, between the showers, en route south. Love the cache - thanks for it tmann.
At last a cache away from passing traffic, easy find with a fright attached for the unwary. TFTC.
Quick find in the logical place. All was quiet at GZ as it was after dark. Loved the camo. Log nice and dry, no creepy crawly insects inside. Thanks for the cache tmann421.

As i was picked up just after 4am to head to the Manawatu I realised this was not going to be a dot day. This was an attempt to get 270 caches in one day. There are a couple of great circuits in the Manawatu that will help work toward this goal so thanks to the CO's that have placed them for our enjoyment.
Thanks also to my partner in geo crime and driver for the day Yetrees. Without an able driver an attempt such as this would be impracticable so thanks for enabling it.
Thanks to all the CO's for their contribution to my smilie tally.
It is forecast to be a long day geocaching, hoping to make the 270 target. To be honest I'd be pretty happy with 200, however why not go for the Emerald badge (see project-gc.com)

Heading back from Wellington and thought we would add a few caches to this days total.
Straight forward find. Thanks.
