Showing some friends around. Brought them (Emma332) along to this bridge as I think its super fascinating. A great little loop walk here or a stop on the rail trail for those who are biking the trail. Thanks for placing this cache.
Found with Tazz&co, my partner took me for a drive to show me the bridge. He went down the hill, literally.....on he's arse it was so funny to watch looking for it.Then came back up the top, looked around. There is was,all along. It make my Day Happy Easter everyone.
Four of us - the Youngest Monster, Miss Tween Monster, Old Man Monster and muggle Grandfather Monster who is on his first caching trip are travelling between BSRT Pine Bend and BSRT Giveway at Linton-Piggoreet Rd. Being Good Friday and a beautiful day, we are starting at this Pine Bend and heading to Linton to hopefully find I think 37 caches along the rail trail. The youngest Monster went in search of this and made a quick find!! TFTC!!
With milder weather this week, Chook and Wozzle68 teamed up again for another walk on the BSRT. How cool to find a golden oldie in this area - worthy spot though being such a spectacular bridge. We had a random meeting with Rustymac75 - a cacher we had known years ago. From up the top we spotted her down below and called out to her. It was good to catch up after all this time. TFTC embi and to Perpetuallylost for maintaining this one.
This evening I spotted a nice size group of new caches out on the BSRT that were waiting for their first finder. A call to Neville_devil and he was in for a late night assault on them. I was really interested because I was still looking for a first to find this month to continue my monthly streak with a first to find.It was a cool but beautiful night for a walk and with a few caches up this section of the trail it was rather pleasant trip. This section of the track had a few older caches that that we just could resist turning into smileys as we went past on our first to find hunt.Thank you Perpetuallylost for the smiley
Day 2 of our adventure around Ballarat with Peppa and Beardman75. Weve almost completed the geotour but have not got distracted by old caches so have driven out here in search of of this oldie. Peppa went one side and I went the other and he made the find. Tftc PerpetuallylostFind #5262
Day 2 of our Ballarat Boys BreakAn early start sees Breadman75, Davinells and I cruising the mean streets of Ballarat and surrounds in our hire car, the Peugeot Party Prowler We still havent worked out how to unlock the doors from the inside thoughWeve taken care of the challenges so now were back to oldies and the repeating if we go another xx minutes this way, its another LGA god damn challenges 2 years ago I thought LGA stood for Lesbian & Gay AllianceThis oldie was on the if time permits list time permitted later we found out this is the 32nd thousand trad find for Breadman woot wootThanks Perpetuallylost for keeping this oldie alive
Very cool old bridge. Found with Peppa and Davinells. Thanks for the cache Perpetuallylost
We decided to give the rail trail a go and of course grab some caches on the way, geo hubby went one side and I went the other and bingo i found it first, a nice hide thanks for placing it
i've never walked along here before but its safe to say that i'll be back. loved the scenery and the walk that came with it:) stopped for a picnic further up and walked up for awhile on the track finding some caches along the way. all part of the fun
i was on the wrong side but my uncle who had already found it pointed me in the right direction. quick find after that, log signed. tftc

Tftc, worth the detour. Interesting to see just how old many of the timbers on the bridge are.
After leaving Rutherglen and attending a wedding in Taradale we headed across to the 'rat to spend some time before Lady Morris had her mouth surgery.
We camped at Smythesdale and today we jumped on the bikes to head towards Linton and put a bit of a dent in that stretch of caches.
We did manage to get there - approx 40 kms of riding that is going to hurt tomorrow. I think that leaves us with about 4 left to find including one DNF today.
Thanks for contributing to the fun Perpetuallylost

Headed out for a ride along this part of the rail trail to grab a few for the day. I completed about 75% of the series way back in 2015 when down here on a solo caching run. Good to actually live here now so I can take my time and finish it all. Todays tally was 11 and 1 DNF, before heading back to the car and getting out of the wind.
Thanks Perpetuallylost. Cache here all good

Find #2972 for me. Found at 10.12am with my dog Bonnie while visiting the area from Bendigo. With a plan to find the famous Ummel the Dragon cache on Feb. 11th with a team of fellow dragon hunters from various parts of Victoria, and with my 3000th milestone slowly approaching, a thought bubble crossed my mind to combine the two. Problem is, it means I'll need to pick up the pace with my cache finds to get to #2999 within the next couple of weeks. Or the next couple of days, maybe. That would be totally radical for me as I'm more of a slowly-but-surely kind of cacher. Anyway, let's see how it goes! This was the 12th find of 21 today to get me closer to that goal. This cache was a total surprise for me - Wow, what a great bridge! Wasn't expecting that along this trail! I loved the location so much that I'm giving it a favorite point. It was also interesting to note how many logs in the book said "found by accident"! Thanks so much for adopting and maintaining this cache Perpetuallylost to keep it in action!
Fourth full day in Ballarat and with the kids still asleep, we continued our holiday tradition of Huntress off on a long run, while I went off geocaching. This morning I was focusing on the Goldern Plains LGA. As such we drove to Smythesdale and while I started geocaching heading South, Huntress started her 20 kilometre run back to Ballarat.
Most caches found in good condition and pretty quick for myself who often takes forever to find a basic hide. Think the total for this morning was 19 finds with only 2 DNF, and that should take my Goldern Plains LGA to over 20.
Found this lovely old bridge at 10 am. Didn't expect that, but now I understand why I was seeing signs for Nimons Bridge now.
Thanks for the cache Perpetually Lost

On the way to visit Dad in Portland. January this year we attempted ones nearby but didnt see this one. Our boy told his 2nd cousin, who we'd picked up to visit my aunty (his Gran) what we were looking for and he made a quick find. Thanks for the cache.

SueHut and I have finally made it to the Rail Trail, are on bikes and finding caches! Go us!
Exactly how much embarrassment can you fit into one cache?
First, it's a regular! How hard is it to find? But the GPS suggested a bit further *that* way... which meant we were looking *here* and *there* and *over there* - none of which were right. In some instances, I was at least 15m from the actual GZ. We spent over 30 minutes looking.
Second, when I did finally spot it, it was 30cm from where I put my bike helmet. A ruler's length. I mean, really?
And lastly, cache is signed and replaced, notes have been taken, next cache is lined up on the phone, and backpack is back on the back. That's the moment my bike helmet falls off my bike, and rolls more than 20m down the hill.
Thanks heaps for the lesson in humility, embi and Perpetuallylost!

So disappointed. Was really wanting to find a regular with maybe some trades. We searched and searched for ages in all the likely and unlikely spots. Searched high and low, under and over but still no luck. It’s possibly gone
Topped up the trades. Figured the next person who braved the steep slope should have more choice for a reward.
Accompanied with pwala and found your cache Perpetuallylost, thank you so much for placing it.
Out with crank1, we attended a CITO at Napoleons, then came here to this area with our e-bikes. Thanks Perpetuallylost.
Absolutely stunning views, with a few cows cheering us on!
Took a while to find at first, but spotted it quick once I checked the correct spot. I always appreciate hides like these, gives a good excuse to be mindful and appreciate the view for longer! TFTC! ️

Pretty sure we found these in November 2020 but obviously forgot to log them, refound them today took the lil pup out for a bit of a family adventure:) beautiful views great location and history! Great hides TFTC
The last day of Xmas/New Year break so we decided to take out the treadlies and complete part of the BSRT - Smythesdale to Linton section.
A lovely day to spend outdoors and find some tupperware before we are stuck indoors and back to working from home.

Out with au.fait, we attended a CITO at Scarsdale, then cached our way home doing Adventure Labs and trads. What a magnificent bridge, and a magic place to visit. Easy find, thank you for bringing me here, a favourite point. Thanks Perpetuallylost.
Travelling to Ballarat today to complete some of the new GeoTour and we saw a sign that said Nimon's Bridge. Well we had better check it out. What a gorgeous sample of a Trestle bridge. I absolutely love these old bridges so was really pleased to stop here and find this gem.
Better check if there is a cache here. Not disappointed. Took a stroll and found the cache. Then headed back via the ford to see the impressive bridge from below. TFTC all in good condition.

The sun was out so we thought we'd go for a drive out to Nimons Bridge and do this part of the Skipton rail trail geocaches yesterday. Well, by the time we got there the sun was behind the clouds and the wind was wild and freezing!! We got this one and another one but decided to come back another time to tackle the rest . . . maybe in Summer when it's warmer!
Out riding the BSRT with Dromaniax on a prefect winters day, locating all hides along the way.
We came in two cars leaving them at each end of the section we completed today.
Wow what an amazing structure and location. I wasn’t expecting this on our trails.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the Traditional Cache embi and Perpetuallylost for adopting the hide.

It was a perfect morning for getting on a bike and Geocaching on the Ballarat Skipton Rail Trail. Ausfox; and Mr Dromaniax set off to turn as many dots into smileys as possible. There was barely a breeze and only a few clouds making riding really enjoyable. The Trail itself is in fantastic condition with a well-compacted surface making the riding pretty easy. The old trestle bridge is the fourth tallest in Victoria. It is incredible to think of this bridge being constructed without the machinery that we have today. The timbers on this bridge are massive. The cache is in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache embi and for maintaining it Perpetuallylost.
On a previous trip we have completed a section of rail trail caches to Smythesdale. Unfortunately today we didn’t have our bikes but we enjoyed the view from the top and from underneath this stunning location.
This cache was one that we especially enjoyed despite the corrugated drive in. A favourite point from us
Thank you for highlighting this area with your cache.

Day five of the Geo Tour adventure. The others had to head home so I’m travelling solo today to gather some adventure labs and other caches around the area.
Bumped into a few people staying at the local campground. Made this cache harder than it should have been as I entered from the other side as my gps was suggesting it was a little further than it actually was.
Thanks Perpetuallylost for the cache.

After a crazy year, it’s time to get away for a bit of R&R, and of course a cache or two.
Day five: BSRT - Smythesdale to Linton.
Much easier than I was expecting. Now to get across without having a panic attack!
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, Perpetuallylost

Easy find. Thanks for the pencil. The only log I was able to write on as we forgot to bring our own.
Find 1/3 for today. The terrain was a little slippery for Liv to tackle so I got to find this one. I searched from the wrong side then soon found it nice and safe in good order. I’m pretty sure this is the oldest cache that I have found. It was a good fun cache to find with some beautiful scenery. TFTC
Got so distracted with taking photos almost forgot to look for this one. Great place!
Couldn’t work out if it was ok the bridge or under the bridge, we tried both locations and couldn’t find.
Tftc found this while riding my bike today on the trail. The container was on the ground do I put it where I thought it should be. Hope it's all good.
Heading to St. Arnaud for the mega event. Day 68 of our trip. Caching along the way. A total of 12 for the day and 1898 for the trip. TFTC

###**CACHE OWNER ACTION REQUIRED PLEASE**###
----------
Hi there Cache Owner,
This cache has come to my notice as there is a 'Needs Maintenance' log that that indicates there is some sort of issue with the placement and it needs your attention please.
Check out the Guidelines here: [**cache owners responsibilities.**](https://www.geocaching.com/play/guidelines#listingmaintenance) If you can't attend to the issue promptly, then you need to [**Disable the cache**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=235) - I have Disabled it for you this time.
**Can you please respond to this situation (or indicated your intention) within 14 days,** so others know exactly what is happening with this cache?
You have lots of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:
- Check on the cache, repair and/or replace the cache or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the praises.
- If you really hope to get it fixed but there is some unusual reason why you can't do it soon, then at least post a Write Note log (within 14 days). Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. For ongoing issues (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 28 days so as to keep everyone up to speed.
- If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of those. Well, if nothing happens, then a few weeks from today, when I next look at the cache page, it is likely that I will unfortunately have to de-list (Archive) it on the basis that it has been abandoned.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.

Cache is very very wet. Found on a cold windy day. Not many on the rail trail today TFTC
Found it, a quick find on the trip back, we needed to break out the power tank pen to sign the wet log. TFTC
In the area supporting some Scouts walking a section of the rail trail, and this was a planned meet and water supply stop. I had an hour to fill in and went after the cache. Had problems with my device sending me the wrong directions, so a quick look around had me go where I thought the cache would be, yeah, nah, I was wrong, not there. However a rethink soon had me try the correct location, and I soon had a mess in my hands
The cache was found upside down, on the ground, and as a result waterlogged. Cache needs a helping hand with a new log book, and maybe a water tight container if someone has one available. Currently log book is unusable. Hmmm, technically that means I cant log this as found
Anyway, enjoyed learning about the bridge, and astonished what was built with so little tools.

With a nice change of cooler weather today after the heatwave it was good to get out and find a few 4wd caches in this area with Theo the geodog. This was our 13th find for the day. I struggled with phone reception here so i was using an offline map. What that didn't show was how close GZ was to the top the top of the hill. We approached from the bottom and only realised my error in interpreting the T-rating once we got about 3/4 of the way up and spent far too long looking in the wrong place. Once the gps settled it led us straight to the cache.
Another AUSmer month ticked off and good to see these old caches still in play. Thx embi for placing a cache here. CIGC TNLNSL.

Our apologies for the generic logs, they do not mean that we think any less of the caches or the placement of them.
Today we have decided to camp here at Smythesdale for a few days and go cache hunting in the area plus head into Ballarat to have a look around. We enjoyed the walk along the trail, we met with an interesting man walking two dogs who told us that about 100 meters ahead a snake had had a go at his dog. He also mentioned that the trail is known for there being quite a few snakes along it, so we picked up a nice sized stick to hopefully protect ourselves if needed and there was no need we did not see any snakes. All caches that we found today are in condition. SL TFTC

A 6 hour Rogaine and an MTBO event held by Eureka Orienteering club = a weekend of nav and exploring the area. Just to finish let’s ride the scenirail trail and of course grab a few caches! Thanks for the series.
One of the true gems of the area. I hadn't realised quite how old this cache was until I read the cache page properly. Thanks for placing and maintaining this one embi (the england's). There aren't that many of these old timers left. The views were fantastic and as such I'm giving this cache a FP.
In Ballarat for the upcoming festivities I decided to walk a section of the BSRT. I parked the car in the middle of the target area (in case the first leg proved too time consuming) and began the walk and kept walking and walking and walking all 19.5km or so my Garmin informed me.
Most caches were quick and easy finds. A couple had either been subject to cache creep or were just devious (Pine Bend). Thanks to all the cache owners who have both put them out and continue to maintain them for everyone's enjoyment.

Keen to find a couple of Hidden Creatures today, we headed for Linton to walk some of the BSRT.
This one turned into a bit of a challenge for one of us, but she made it!
Initially approached GZ from the creek valley, but there were so many muggles that we abandoned the idea. Then crossed the bridge, taking photos in howling wind, careful not to drop the phone. Now, how do we get there? Tried one side, didn't like it, tried the other. Considered jumping part of the way, then spotted a more gentle option.
Yay, cache spotted, head duly hit on a strut (several times), signed/scratched the log, which is still a bit wet but not frozen, returned everything and re-emerged without muggles around. Mission accomplished! Thanks for the adventure.

After another early morning mission, it was now time to meet up with Jacko83 so the we could tackle the BSRT from Scarsdale to Linton.
It turned out to be a great day for a ride but boy it was an icy start on the trail.
I headed to where I figured the cache would be only to find a few pens and other stuff that seemed to be cache swag on the ground, we looked around and found a container lid, a bit further away was the container with was half full of water but the water was frozen so it was a bit block of ice, shortly after the logbook was also found but it had been wet so now the logbook was also frozen solid, we put it all together and now we had a complete cache.
I wasn't sure where it was meant to be so it was replaced where I thought it may have been.
The CO may need to check this one out, maybe to rehide and to change the logbook, but we were still able to sign it.
**Thanks to the england's for placing this cache.**
