Went for a nice little walk around Copacabana and up to the lookout today. Definitely a cool location and some beaut views. Located the cache at GZ but the nearby bush being overgrown has limited access somewhat. The track to get to GZ is officially closed from the south end even though it is perfectly safe and I saw a few others also hiking it.TFTC : )
Well that was an experience. In fact it was two experiences.I've just got time for one or two caches early each morning while I'm in the area for a training week, so I tried to solve this puzzle in advance. I didn't like the result and a previous finder said it didn't match their answer. So I visited the posted coordinates on Tuesday and found nothing I hadn't expected. That evening I revisited the puzzle, re-solved and got the same result. Last night I got a computer to check my work, it said I was right. Then my previous finder remembered that they found the cache some way from their coordinates. So I came back with what I thought were the right coordinates. A well established, narrow trail through bitou bush (a rather dreadful weed, don't let the ubiquity and pretty flowers fool you) took me past some lovely spider webs and even lovelier views of the sunrise over the sea. My coordinates led to a very nice spot for a sunrise photo, and for a cache find. That actually went very well, I might see if I can get back to the car in time for another cache.
Another day spent clearing some caches around where I’m working at Terrigal. Came near here previously but had no idea a GZ was close by. Such a wonderful view from here, absolutely stunning, no whales out there to be spotted either. Really nice GZ, thanks Elev8!on and mrnoo17
Fun puzzle to do... works like a charm on an ipad especially if the missus joined in solving it.
Took awhile at GZ to find the cache, and the proximity of the cliff was a little disconcerting.
Note to the cache owner, time for a new container, this one has a hole in it and the contents are somewhat in disarray.

Well now this was a bit of an endeav …. adventure. Firstly, headed down this way after finding the traditional at the lookout in a bid to short cut the process however with the greek safety boots on (which are not very savvy for when it comes to snakes) came across a young brown and didnt want to mess with it because they don’t know how much venom to inject, so much worse than the adults. One of the criteria for turning around and heading back to the geofam was the spotting of a nope rope. We had already viewed the plaque and photo’d it for some homework. Homework complete and a good set of co-ords appeared, wasn’t too far from it the first outing. However, this time dressed a little more appropriately to alleviate a joe blake sighting and headed straight to gz. A little overgrown at gz and initially spoed the wrong ledge but in the end came up with the goods. Thanks for the great word find (who doesnt like them), the walk and the view. TFTM (photo not from gz but discover our patch)
Went for a quick stroll and lookout to gather some information and get the coordinates. By this point it was gettingn late so we retired for the day.
Our first attempt at GZ was unsuccessful due to a particularly stubborn muggle reading a muggle. Despite all the noise made by kids who were getting increasingly bored by the forced stop in our walk the muggle refused to move.
Back again and this time GZ was clear. Thanks to an old photo we made a nice quick find on a cache which had become a bit of a mission.
Thanks for the cache!

Was in the area and decided to this one so we didn't have a printout of the puzzle with us, but it was fairly easy enough to do on the spot. Nice day for a coastal walk. We obviously had the right coords because we located the cache immediately. Thanks for the puzzle and cache. Last one for the year!
Found with Baby J Man
Forgot the printout so had to do some crafty phone editing. That out of the way a pleasant stroll to GZ - stunning views - we initially looked in a bit more precarious places based on the hint direction but later found in a safer place. Cache in good nick but was a bit exposed, hid a bit better out of view
Thanks

A nice solvable puzzle witha twist. Turned it into a hike, and started at the water tower, 1.2 if your a crow, 4.4 if travelling the roller coaster. Interesting note in the logbook, that someone found it whilst working on the stairs. They were waiting for more concrete, but i am wondering why they were looking in this spot. TFTC.
We are on a five day holiday to the Central Coast, staying at the NRMA/Big4 Ocean Beach Holiday Resort (caravan Park) in Umina Beach. Looking to do some of the many Central Coast Adventure Labs, visit some previously solved Puzzle/Mystery cache GZs, and to collect any other caches we come across during our daily travels. Photos will be uploaded to logs on our return to home base.
Today we visited Empire Bay, Kincumber South, Avoca Beach, Copacabana, North Avoca, Terrigal, MacMasters Beach, Bouddi, and Killcare Heights. Completed two Adventure Labs, and partly completed another, and collected a variety of other caches, including an EarthCache, a MultiCache, and numerous Traditional caches. This was the 7th of 25 finds for the day (day 2), and 12th find of the holiday.
After finding "Look Out!", at the nearby Winney Bay lookout, we next came to Captain Cook Lookout for this Mystery/Puzzle cache. Quickly found the information required and came up with some final GZ coordinates then, after soaking up the view for a few minutes, we headed off in pursuit of the prize.
Arrived at final GZ and soon uncovered the hide and had CIH. TNLNSL, and then replaced as found. It's a great view from this spot. Thanks mrnoo17 for the puzzle & cache, and the views.

Find #5519
I'd visited this great lookout previously without fully reading the description so I wasn't fully prepared, after another visit, and being half prepared I took a photo of the plaque and went home to work out the coordinates.
Today was the day to make the find, a bit tricky, but got it in the end.

I am terribly behind in my logging. It's getting close to five months since I regularly reported on the caches I've found. YIKES! Well, at least I'm currently only 3 months behind.
To be honest, while I still find searching for caches fun, I'm finding logging less so. But I have to log to get me stats and souvenirs, so...
In this time only the Adventure Labs found and my First2Finds have been written up - don't want people racing out when it's already been snaffled.
But I've been busy finally getting ready to move into our new house - now in and I'm still coming to terms with the extra room/rooms!
But I did still try to find time to cache on the days that my 2022 goal of 16 finds per caching day demanded I find something. In fact, for the most part my modus operandi has been to actually aim for 20. So far I've only failed on that a few times, and only by 1 find. Amazingly I'm on track for 19 finds per day, but somehow I expect that will eventually prove too hard as I have to travel a good distance if I want more than a cache a day.
Anyway. thanks to all the CO's who are getting short shrift from my generic logs. I hope to eventually get back to them and flesh them out, but no promises.
I've found some fun Traditionals and solved some interesting, but not impossible puzzles. And Multis and other cache types have been grabbed where possible.
###END OF GENERIC ABJECT GROVELLING SECTION###
Up to the Central Coast - which I've been neglecting lately - to grab enough finds to satiate the Caching Gods. Nine physical and two ALs seemed to do the job. I even picked up some puzzles I'd solved a while ago.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SECTION###
Nice puzzle - spectacular spot.
But where did that leech come from? Just glad I spotted it before it got me!
Speaking of got me, the iPhone liked tw areas. One looked more likely but it took longer than it should for me to finally find the right spot.

After getting the solved Coords, BillHill531 and myself made the short coastal walk to GZ. It's a pity the weather wasn't better. It was raining and restricted the views. Still its a fav for me. TFTC mrnoo17.
Found with Shaneo58, Doing a round trip up to Gosford, Kincomber, Avoca and Terrigal. A day with intermittent rain. Finally after being locked down and being separated from the central coast. we were able to travel down here. We came mainly to do this cache, nice walk to the GZ, pity it rained on/off all day. very nice views from up here. Some animal had chewed a hole in the bottom of the container, but log was still dry

Sadly no success today, did the puzzle but will need to come back for a fresh look at another stage.
I'd grabbed the raw data last week and had a destination when I returned this week. What I though might be GZ seemed a bit precarious and fortunately the real spot was in the opposite direction. Several friendly muggle entries in the log - can't imagine how this can get accidental finds. Thanks for causing this visit to somewhere I'd never been mrnoo17.
Fun puzzle with some interesting history. The walk was great and full of great views, while keeping a firm grip on Geo Jess the whole time. The find was in a bit of a precarious spot but all good. Having grown up in a Avoca, I had been to the lookout before, and walked down to Winney Bay from the water tank plenty of times, but have never been on this walk before. Thanks for bringing us here. Great spot, FP added. TFTC !
Unicorn princess and I enjoyed solving the puzzle together last night. I had planned a different area to cache in today but the weather turned bad . So we decided to come find this cache instead. It was a nice walk to GZ with Unicorn Princess avoiding every spider she saw . The view is amazing at GZ and it was a quick find. Thanks for the cache mrnoo17 fav point for the fun tnln replaced as found sl
Had fun solving this puzzle with mighty minions enjoyed the short trail to the cache quick and easy find when at gz Tftc.
Didn't print out the puzzle beforehand and that made it very difficult. After a lot of time we figured it out and short walk to GZ. Fresh excavations and GPS a little off caused us some hassles. Read the logs, found the right camera angle and cache in hand. TFTC
Started on the wrong side of the track.. do the clues first and then enjoy the walk!
Sue did the findaword and got the coords calculated. It was up to Dan to find the cache. He walked down the track with some muggle mates and found the position thanks to a geotrail. His mate Stan inspected GZ and said "where's the safety line." Yes, care needed to be taken. A nice spot for a cache. TFTC and the puzzle, the exercise and the challenge.
#1409 met up with teamMerlin, Splitty Miller JJCC & alnic39 in Windsor for a trip up to the Woy Woy area to get some interesting D/T fillers and another old school cache
Number 7 of 9 we had parked in the carpark for the Captain Cook Memorial this was a walk that I wished I had my walking pole with me. I was in the lead and walked through so many spiders webs on the track that I started to form a cacoon. Watching the GPSr counting down as we were walking along the track got some nice views along the way until we got near GZ this is where the fun began finding the correct spot for GZ tried a few tracks then after no luck checked the gallery saw a picture then saw that that was on the next track back. Everything was fine till we got to GZ teamMerlin went one way stepping down from the rock to look under & I went the other side stepped down to look under. We then got the encouragement from alnic "don't get too close to the edge". In the end teamMerlin picked the correct side & found the cache. The log was signed and replaced as found. Both the cache and log are in good condition. Thanks for the cache Elev8!on [mrnoo17]

Nice to be back in Copa, where I lived for quite a few years in two different houses. This one is not in my comfort zone, so I did the thing I normally do...act as moral support and pray for the others who dare go there. Moral support is vital in geocaching...REALLY!
On a caching run today with phlphotos, Splitty Miller JJCC and alnic39 around the Gosford area. After meeting up in Windsor earlier in the morning, we grabbed some special equipment and headed north to find some caches that filled missing D/T fillers, missing JASMER months as well as an Old School cache.
After working out the needed coordinates some time ago, we headed down the spiderweb riddled track towards GZ. Our initial search at GZ didn't yield anything, and we then widened our search area. In the end we looked at some previous logs and took note of one of the photos and spotted a similar feature. On inspection the cache was located. After we all signed the log we replaced as found. Both the cache container and log are in good condition.

After trekking up the the hill me and Ulmy1 first went and found 'Look out'. After this we set about solving the mystery part of it. Once we had collected the coordinates we set off. It took a while to get there alien down by the presence of spiders on each side of the path. Once at GZ I set about looking for the cache after five minutes of searching I retrieved it. Loved the camo. The whole cache has a weird smell to it but it was no matter. TFTC
Forgot to read instructions in advance so turned up cold and then realised what had to be done. Took photos and ran back to the car and wrote out the grid and the quote and got to work. Came up with a fairly confident solution and did the calculations and plotted it. Looks very promising. If this CO has a type, this fit

Puzzle a little confusing and I love everything about word puzzles. The main track is good but I had a tight lead on the Aussie Greythounds as the side tracks are precarious.
Found with Ausfeet, Andrew113 and the Aussie greythounds
Great look out, left the others to figure out the puzzle while I looked after the dogs. The brains trust cracked the puzzle after a bit of confusion and then off towards GZ. Nice view of the area, the skillion looks a lot smaller from here than I thought it was.
Took TB.

A beautiful cache and my favourite so far. #22. NNYFFYNN and I began the long trek from McMasters very early. It was a steep slope and hard on bare feet. He (the smarter one) then went off to try and solve the mystery while I searched for look out! I gave up earlier on look out and went to check on him. He hadn't made much progress but together we worked through it quite thoroughly. Once stuck at the word search bit, we both went to get paper from look out as we didn't have a printer. I, surprisingly was the one to have a stroke of genius, working out the hidden message. We found out the new spot and began another trek. This one though was not painful and difficult (that's what she said) but rather nice and lovely. This walk was beautiful and had great views, along with a great mystery and cache, with lots of effort put in. This has to get a favourite point.
Yeah our central coast Copa was named after the Rio Copa where Lola the showgirl comes from FYI We lived here for 3 years and are familiar with the lookout and the trails around. Great spot and they've really improved it in the last 5 years or so with the new improved southern lookout and the added northern one.
I was a bit lost with the puzzle until I worked out that one particular word appears twice? Anyway then it all made sense. Quick find in a lovely spot. Just heed MrNoo's warning Re the drop offs in the area with small geokids. TNLN

Solved fun puzzle a few days ago while holidaying at Copacabana. Went out to get "Look Out" and this cache on a hot day and introduced some friends "Scruffy Dog" to this adventurous activity. Easy find with good hint and accurate cords for iPhone. Was a bit apprehensive to follow path given the DANGER sign at start of path but really nothing to be too concerned about. Enjoyed puzzle and trek to GZ. Fav awarded. Also dropped off TB
Now that one was fun and what a resting place!
How did you do that puzzle?!
Left rather important TB if you are trying to release the Prince in Distress.

Haha, well, that took some time to wrap my jetlagged brain around that puzzle. But eventually got some promising resulta and set off on a now cleared bushtrail for the cache. Beautiful sights despite the 4 airforce fighters that shot past. NTNL, TFTC! Great puzzle
Have searched a few times but haven't found it

Second find on a trip down with Orrsome86. After some advice from Orrsome I tried to work out the puzzle from the comfort of home, but I would say it was much harder to do. Looking up the info is difficult as it includes much more then necessary and difficult/impossible to know which part you are looking for. As it was I think I found one more word then was needed. So not sure how it worked out, but it did. Not recommended. After climbing a nearby tree two and a half times we came here. We did not even see the plaque (but we did not look hard for it) and set off on our way (after getting stuck behind a slow old fire truck that stalls as we reached the car park). The bulk of the track seems to have been semi recently flattened by a bobcat, which made for easy walking. Near GZ we split up and Orrsome made the find. Nice views as ever.
Thanks for the puzzle, walk, views and cache!

Found with Tombi. We both managed to solve this without reading the plaque as we found the passage on the internet. Had a thorough search, lots of juggles and a few local reptiles encountered. Despite a detailed search it was mission fail.
We went home had some lunch, watched the cricket and re-jiggled our thought process and calcs on the puzzle.
On our post lunch attempt we found it!!! Still took some looking, we searched the low road for some time before the boss found it on the high road, no need for all the bush bashing and tunnel creeping.
We had a curious muggle asking lots of questions, after some smoke screen being laid and the large number of golf balls found in a random location we found it.
We are new to this and this was our hardest and most enjoyable yet!!!

Geowife spotted this and wanted to do it before we went home from holidays.
So on our way to Avoca for a swim we made a slight detour.
What a great lookout. Well made and excellent views.
Nice puzzle that was fun to solve.
We had the new coordinates and headed off. As others have stated the track has been cleared and was a relatively easy walk.
Found the location and with some trepidation got to the spot where I thought it was and soon had the CIH.
Please be careful here. The cache could potentially be dangerous if you slipped.
Overall a good puzzle and great location you brought us to.
We also ran into some friendly locals who used to live in the same street as us In Sydney.

Off to a friends nearby so with youngest geogirl along decided to show off the view. After 50m youngest tripped so geodad ended up acting as pack horse to GZ where we made a quick find. Amazing the difference a small error can make. Pony ride back up the hill then a revisit to the lookout to once again admire the view. Thanks Mrnoo17.
We were intending to do this one a few weekends ago but time got away from us. Had some work in the area so made a diversion to the fantastic lookout. Standing looking south several RAAF fighter jets flew past. I think they did a fly over for the memorial service for Gough Whitlam being held in town. They were too quick for a photo.
Had some coordinates from a remote solve that looked good so headed down the recently cleared path. At our GZ there were signs of recent clearing activity and initial thoughts were that the container had gone with the track work. Could find nothing at our GZ. The track clearing sitting smack on the middle of our coordinates. Looked in a few other places and found some golf balls but no cache.
Will need to re-check our work and perhaps try again. Fantastic views though!
Postscript...seems a slight error in our workings lead us to the wrong spot. On the up side, now have a reason to come back and enjoy the view again.

Thrilled to find it Mrnoo17! It is a sensational view and the new "track" made it an easy walk. Love being able to find a previous DNF.
I have mixed emotions about this cache.
On the one hand, I was delighted, having never been to this area before, to find some really wonderful coastline views from the two lookouts and to learn a little about Captain Cook's discovery of the Central Coast when I first came here a month or two back. I also very much enjoyed doing the word search and working out the puzzle to get the final coords.
On the other hand, the walk to the cache today was something of a disappointment ... a 1 km return on a track where, at the moment, you have to watch your footing at all times (the result of a bulldozer, or something similar, having gone through recently but leaving a whole lot of roots and remnant timber behind on the track) just to find an ordinary cache hidden in a somewhat precarious position (at least to a senior) nd in a location that offered a view no different, indeed exactly the same, as I had already enjoyed at the trailhead/lookout. It just left me feeling as if the walk had been included to achieve a specific DT rating rather than as an integral part of a mission to find out about Captain Cook's endeavours here.
The redeeming point of it all, however, is the views from the lookouts, particularly the northward one over Winney Bay towards Terrigal/Wamberal. Before heading off to my next target, I lingered for a while just soaking them up, so thanks for bringing me here, mrnoo. And as I've just found out, for providing me with the opportunity to check another box on my way to 81.

Having been at Mac's today after the beach closure at Killi we got up the look out late in the day. Great views and interesting to see some of Captain Cooks notes. We worked out some rough co-ords and having seen the new bull droozers tracks on the way in mentioned in recent logs headed out and until we got to a place that felt about right. We had over shot a little and found ourselves down a little low and then climbed up to what looked like camo and find the hid. Nice views again. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
Faced my fears on this one, dodgy cliffs! My wimpyness aside, this was a great cache with a great view. The path to the GZ was mutilated by something bigger than a geocacher, has cross-sections also cleared, and goes on a bit past the GZ, so it looks intentional (maybe land care trying to get to problem areas??). My co-ords were spot on. Thanks, mrnoo.
What an awesome view!
Glad the path was cleared a bit as I would not have fitted in the path otherwise. Not easy when you are 6'5"! The gps was around 17m off and we had search around a bit. Eventually found it where Stoffel allegedly already looked!
Found with geokids Stoffel, Sushi and Coco.

Just a quick visit to drop off a Migrating Orca TB - I felt this cache was a fitting location for it. Shame I got so scratched heading in and out - lucky it's a good view. No whales (other than the TB) to be seen today, although plenty of Muggles about looking.
This cache was one of my targets while planning my trip up from Melbourne this week, as the viewpoint promised to be a good one.
Having read previous logs, I expected more of a battle reaching GZ, but it appears that someone has followed seaeagles1997s advice of "I think the next cacher through here ought to bring a machete!" and has kindly cleared a path all the way to GZ for us. I was terribly dissappointed to see this, as it's not the kind of look we want our community to have in the publics eyes, not to mention super bad news for the poor saplings and shrubs mutilated as a result.
Apart from that, I managed to get some good viewpoints, a few scratches, a found cache and a signed log. I liberated the trackable contained to continue it's journey.
As a side note, I didn't see any whales migrating, which was pretty much expected, but It didn't stop me trying.
Thanks for the cache mrnoo17

Went here the other day collected the clues and returned today to find. Great views lovely tight walk to start the morning. Left puff the dragon TB.
Came here on the weekend and covered the information . Returned today to do the find. Great hide. TFTC
We walked and walked along a little track, think my co-ordinates must have been off and the ledges with a small child made me nervous.
On a gorgeous winters day, what else to do but geocache in the great outdoors, and figured with the 5 lands walk on tomorrow, it was a good time to visit the area. I'd done some research and solved the puzzle a week or so ago, so I was armed with the coordinates when I arrived. There were a few Muggles about at the lower lookout, so I headed on up to Captain Cook Lookout, where there were a few Muggles whale watching - too far out for me to see, but with their binoculars, the assured me the splashes on the horizon were whales. While they busied themselves, I switched on the GPS, but the numbers I had didn't seem quite right. So I sat and did the puzzle again, the proper way this time - the Muggles barely noticed me counting away at the sign...I came up with a different set of numbers, but these put me in the drink, so I figured it would need more thinking time and headed back down towards the car. Then it dawned on me. This is a MrNoo17 hide - perhaps my original numbers were right...I turned on the compass and looked in the direction they pointed, and sure enough, there was a hard packed trail. Following it I was glad I wasn't any taller (a change for geocaching!), finding myself on a hobbits path that took me to an amazing view, and an area very typical of MrNoo - I knew it was here, so holding my breath, and watching my step, I checked the likely places and had CIH in moments. Awesome spot. And just goes to show I should trust the numbers more. Thanks for another excellent hide MrNoo17
A quick find this time - I don't know why I didn't see it on my first attempt. A beautiful spot for a well crafted cache. Left a TB and took another. TFTC.
A public holiday, a packed lunch, and off we go geocaching. As we arrived at the car park it starts to rain, so lunch in car, a break in the rain came so seaeagles1997 and I ran to WP1 took photo as rain came again, back to car to solve puzzle. Good, rain stops, with Nan leading the way saying, "this would be a good fishing track" we set off on the very wet and slippery over grown track. Once at GZ an easy find, took TB.

It was a beautiful day up on the glorious hilltops of Kariong, with clear skies all round, and with the added bonus of a public holiday the family decided to go out for a picnic lunch. The closer we got to the ocean the darker the sky became. And would you believe our luck the second we parked the car it started to pour rain. Hoping it would clear over we sat it out, eventually deciding to eat lunch whilst inside the car. A few sandwiches and grapes later the rain had eased up so we jumped out and made our way to WP1, only to have it pelt down rain again - this time horizontal. Fought with the umbrella a while in the wind and rain but managed to get a photo of the sign before charging our way back to the car.
Protected out of the rain we sat down and while waiting decided to solve the puzzle. Our puzzle sheet had gotten a bit wet from the rain but thankfully was still useable. By the time all the words were found and the calculations were made it had stopped raining again. Knowing the track was quite overgrown it was obvious we were going to get wet from the overhanging trees so from now on it didn't matter if it rained or not.
Found the track and made our way down carefully as it was very slippery underfoot. I think the next cacher through here ought to bring a machete! You're almost on hands and knees through some sections.
Anyway soon enough we were greeted with the great views from GZ and quickly found the cache. Got back to the car before it rained again.
Thanks for another fantastic cache mrnoo17!

7/06/14. 3:07 PM. Cache #1596. I remember finding "Look!...Captain Cook!" up here in late 2012. The lookout has since undergone a transformation and that little nano is long gone. This morning, came up with the family for some whale watching (only saw one), and solved this puzzle while we were here. Yelyac & I then tried to follow a track that started near the bottom of the car park hill, back near the houses. This track led us in the direction of GZ, but we could only get to within 300m before it turned into a strenuous bush bash and we ditched that idea.
After lunch, Yelyac & I returned without the rest of the family, and found a much better track after I'd checked out the satellite photo. This too was heavily overgrown, but much better than the other way from this morning, and was always an obvious track. Once at GZ, we made an easy find and signed as joint 2TFs. I swapped TBs and then we decided to make an attempt for "Horsing Around" next. Great puzzle - worth a fave point. TFTC }:)

After doing the word puzzle, extracting what appeared to be the correct message and working out the coordinates, I ended up on a ledge overlooking the water, but couldn't find the cache or any hiding place really resembling the description and hint.
We are only 10 minutes from WP1 so I drove there last night to photograph the extract then solved the puzzle at home. Today we drove back late morning and were surprised to see no-one else had been there, giving us the FTF. I have not used the track for some time, but it was never this overgrown. My advice: don't wear shorts or you'll lose skin and see blood! We did take the traveller and left a TB. Thanks to mrnoo for another exceptional hide and location, one of the best and a favourite of ours.
There's some information on the history of Copacabana, including the origin of its name, at http://copacabana.nsw.au/about/
I had today off work and was over that way checking out some other caches, but didn't see this notification until I'd returned home . I'll have a crack at it on Saturday.
