TFTC. Happy caching and safe travels!____________________________________Yorke Peninsula 2023 trip (10 days)Day 1 : Travel to YP, set up camp at Point Turton Day 2 : Marion Bay/Innes NP & surrounds
Continuing our annual birthday caching trip, Purrfect Di, Mattycat and Jack too coming along for the ride...
This year it's cleaning out Dhilba Guuranda-Innes National Park and then some surrounds. Something I started back on new year's eve 2012/2013 with two of my sons!
We started today on the trail to Inneston from Stenhouse bay. A nice walk, No snakes. Plenty of caches, and surely I'm losing some wieght in the process!!!
But... DoN'T tHe MaRCh FliES kNoW iT'S JaNUarY
Survived the walk by fashioning a leafy branch into a massive fly swatter to beat our way back to the car! Wow those things are huge and just keep orbiting one's body like a million little satelites... and the ones that get up your nose... yeah don't get me started! Send them back to MARCH!
Anyway we found your caches. Signed the logs. Smiled a lot, and moved on to do some fishy tales too.
Finishing the day with a few fishy ones helped clear a little more of this colourful map!
We are grateful to The X-Trailers for planning and maintaining this cache on our ever growing SA cache map!
---
Travelling all over wherever we can - searching, spotting hidden items and signing cache logs using some or all of the resources of GSAK (Geocaching Swiss Army Knife), Whereyougo, Garmin Montana 750i, Montana 680t, Etrex 35, Samsung S21u, Samsung S9, with Geocaching App, c:Geo, or Geooh Go, and Android Auto and other maps... or often with just a guess or plain old dumb luck
Heaps of the luck stuff really !!!
*Most of the online logs are composed and published with GSAK of course*.**

Beware ! Caching is a very hazardous activity!
Look out for sand, mud, floodwaters, snakes, surprise cliffs, roos, wombats, things falling from trees, bulldust, and floods, and try not to get tetanus from rusty mint tins and don't fall off your ladder...
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- and do watch out for bugs !!! . [xx(]
Ensure Travel Bugs are the Only bugs you share and pass on (Covid cancels caching!)
Keep a safe distance - cache the countryside
Great of all those placing quality caches out and about around the country areas,
in sensible safe places especially! - it keeps our game fun, and interesting
We do appreciate if you actually did read all this extra addition to the log word count! There's a challenge somewhere out there, or so we've been told! You win a virtual smiley for the effort and getting to the end of the log Maybe if I worked out where it is I could do it and go back to normal logs again ! If you find the challenge let me know and we can put an end to these long logs !!!

After an early start to the day in Edithburgh, we headed out on a coolish day with iluvtrekking to grab some finds in Innes NP and others a bit further afield. Thanks Earthlight and X-Trailers
Another cache found with richlink on our 2022 South Australian Adventure.
We set off early on a cold and cloudy morning with the threat of rain, which fortunately didn't eventuate. We enjoy the small towns, beaches, cliffs, history and ruins we encounter along the way. Thanks for your cache Earthlight and The X-Trailers.

Terrific stories of your POP and memories of those days bygone have made this series really interesting! Day 7 in SA after numerous trips were sabotaged due to you know what and its the first day it has not been more than a chilly brisk! The Innes National Park and it’s caches was high on the list along with several other random caches so hoping to tick all boxes before heading back to home base. I’m out on trusty treadles aka my mtb to explore the trails and surroundings. I’ve learnt theRE are plenty of quality SA caches - plenty to pique the curiosity and anticipation of another surprise or fun cache. Happy and relieved to record no DNF’s today and on average most were located ‘relatively’ quickly. TFTC AND THE FUN and the effort to contribute to this fave game
Found with gridge98 on a weekend away to the yorke peninsula.

This was our main attack for the day, we set off from the Marion bay end and headed along the trail finding them, we found all but one cache along this trail. All the other caches are in good order. Watch out for the magpie near the old buildings too.
A big trip away to the yorke peninsula planned for the weekend travelling around touristing and have a look at sights I’ve seen before, plus camping over the 4 days wherever we needed up at the end of the day. Plus why not find 116 caches along the way for the trip. Despite the wind on the first evening the rest of the trip we were delighted by the beautiful weather.

Out for a stroll with Southern Cross Caching around Innes National Park. We started walking at Inneston and cached our way back to Stenhouse Bay, following the old railway line and the fire trail spurs.
There was very interesting history here, I was only vaguely aware of the fact that a train used to run along here. It would have been interesting seeing it operating, probably not at shinkansen speeds
The houses around Inneston have been well preserved and it would be good to book one sometime for a stay.
This cache was found using a Garmin GPS 64s at 12:51:00 PM and was 23 of 28 finds today.

Found while visiting Innes National Park and staying for several nights in the Inneston Managers Lodge. Today we enjoyed a walk along the tram line on the Thompson Pfitzner Walking Trail from Inneston to Stenhouse Bay, wandering through the mallee with occasional views over the coast on a cool and partly cloudy day. Thanks for the cache The X-Trailers and Earthlight!
A nice walk between two very interesting historic towns. Had to be quick on the walk to avoid the afternoon showers. TFTC
Found It!
Forgot about this one and walked past it on the way in so I stopped here on the way back. And with that, I have now found all the caches on this trail!

After a week on the power trails with only diversions here and there to pick up other caches we are treating ourselves to a day in the Innes National Park.
A chance to maybe see some wonderful scenery and the native flora and fauna and even a lighthouse or two.
This is an interesting walk with the surrounding countryside varying quite a bit as we go. Really interesting after so many days on the power trails.

Camped at Gym Beach but got blown out with very strong westerly winds. Decided on a walk along this trail to do some caching. Probably not the best day for it...very hot. The march flies were horrendous, made caching a bit challenging....staying still to sign the log gave them an excellent chance to land and bite!!
Thanks for the cache series, excellent walk and interesting history.

Back out with Mr Jackylegs finding traditionals after finishing the fish geoart this morning. Thanks to the CO,S for placing these caches
Geocaching has taken me on many adventures over the years all over Australia and overseas. It has also introduced me to a brilliant and diverse group of people, many of whom are now close friends.
Today I was lucky enough to be out and about with some of those friends and we targeted this cache.
Sorry for the late log, but thanks for adding to the adventure!

Woo hoo, the lovely Micaparamedic and I decided we would attend the June Long Weekend Event in South Australia (Edithburgh) and make the most of a road trip to the glorious Yorke Peninsula by spending a week away - NICE! [^]
We particularly enjoyed exploring Innes National Park and focussing on the new earth caches on the YP and in Burra.

Another suspicious pile of rocks, another cache. Oh and flies. Lots of flies. Found worth scag0002
#2424 What a shame we are here at the wrong time of year for the flame trees. We did spot a few emus today, at the start of the trail and on the outskirts of Inneston. TFTC The X-Trailers and earthlight.
It was shaping up to be a warm and sunny day,
perfect for a stroll from me campsite at Stenhouse Bay to Inneston
I was expecting flies to be a problem today [:o]
But once on the walking trail and away from the towne,
there were hardly any flies to bother me
So I could enjoy reading the info signs,
and taking a closer look at things I saw along the way
I don't think these are the flame trees that Cold Chisel were singing about !!

First we must appologise for the generic logs.
Were we live in North Queensland we have Flame trees that have a different flower to these but they are still lovelly.
We came to Yorke Peninsular with Speedmistress who hails from Queensland to cache our little hearts out and this we are doing.
We solved loads of puzzles prior to coming and with all the earth, multi, trads and puzzles there are here we were never lacking in variety.
When we found caches that needed repair we have done our best to do what was possible, unfortunately we have now rum out of spare containers, so no more repairs can be done. We have enjoyed the scenery, the walks, the animal life and the challenges that was encountered while traveling the Peninsular. Not all the caches have been attempted due to time restraints but those have been earmarked for future visits.
We also would like to thank Speedmistress for supplying our geocaching chariot.
A huge thanks to all the cache owners for placing these caches for us to enjoy.

On this occassion, I am doing a generic log. I very much enjoyed the series. Some great insights along the way. I have travelled from Queensland to meet up with Muff1 for a Geocaching extravaganza on the beautiful Yorke Peninsular. Our goal to Cache, Cache and Cache. Each day our "finds" have been growing in number, some days more productive then others. We have also been careful to take time to appreciate the natural wonder of the areas we have visited. The variety of caches was interesting, some very clever, some the quick grab they were designed to be. A big thank you to all of the dedicated Cache placers who have made this possible.
Camped at Point Turton, and this morning we headed down to the National Park, with Konie.
We decided to do the walk first, which was very enjoyable, in the cool of the day.
All caches were found reasonable easy, but #10 took us longer than it should have.
Many thanks for placing this cache, The X-Trailers, for us and others to find.

Realising last night that I had nothing on today, I decided to go or a late night drive.
Arriving at Stenhouse Bay about 4.30am, I tried sleeping as it was raining but as soon as the rain stopped I headed out on the pushbike, in the dark, to find some caches.
Even at night, this is a lovely area with the night creatures' sounds, the sighing of the wind and the patter of misting (and sometimes a bit heavier) rain
It wasn't long before daylight dawned and I had a blast riding the rocky, sandy and tree branch riddled track
Branches hung low and many times I had to duck to avoid hitting my head.
I saw a fox, emus, kangaroos, birds, many rabbits and a malleefowl , there just happened to be a malleefowl sign right near where I saw it cross the track to tell me what it was
After riding the track, I rode back along the road to the car and then spent the day just sightseeing and casually caching
The day's total cache finds was 23 with 15 FTFs
Having been to this area previously with the CO, I have heard some great stories and enjoyed these trails this morning. The signs are informative and the peace and serenity of riding through dripping wet bush is awesome! [^]
A couple of the newer hides in this series are EVIL and took me ages to find them however most were quite easy and quick.
the hide types vary and so it is never boring [^]
I found this older cache which I had somehow not managed to have found previously

Today we are heading back to the Yorke peninsula to chase a few first to finds up for grabs and continue finding caches here, its great to be back on the Yorke peninsula and what was suppose to be a overnight stay ended up being 2 nights and 3 days here on the Yorke peninsula, we managed to find quite a few while here and on our third day we had to head back earlier than planned after car issues, the weather was very pleasant while here and we look forward to returning back here to keep finding more caches, we packed the push bikes to make doing this trail easier and while they made it easier the pushies became a pain every time we needed to take something out of the car as there was one in the boot and the other on the back seat, time to invest in a bike carrier i reckon lol, it was a great ride along here and some of the hides were very evil but we managed to find them all...in the end lol, the horse flies through here are quite thick and i killed over 20 of the blighters, I even got to see a mallee fowl while i was here so that was a highlight for me : ) TFTC
Already day 4 of the big caching trip[ for this year. Goal is a lot of power trails today, but certainly not forget the caches on the way there from Stanbury and back. Perfect caching weather today, not to hot, not to dusty and a nice breeze to cool off once in a while!

# 9388. After 3 days of GeoArt it is now time for Robmc and me to relax and spend a lovely day in the Innes National Park. The grey start turned into a mild, sunny day that helped turn the ocean into many lovely shades of blue and green. With Spring starting all the plants were putting on a colourful display and I was able to gather some gorgeous old-style freesias to bring back to the accommodation. (They are introduced nuisance plants out here, so just doing the park a service).
The flame bushes are looking beautiful at the moment, as are the wax flowers and low wattles and a lot of other plants that I don't know. This was the last one on this section of the track now back to the car for us.
Thanks The X-Trailers

Day eleven of the short holiday with Bettyboo3747.
Left our house in Marion Bay for a day's caching.
Spent all of the day in the Innes National Park, using the caches placed as tourist suggestions, it worked out very well.
The Flame Trees (bushes?) were in flower this time of the year, and they looked fabulous!
All through the National Park they brought areas of red to the green heath plants. Interesting to see this information on them.
Thanks, Robmc.

Todays drive was in the Innes National Park. We travelled with mccamob & pprass signed the log as DIMP.

Thanks The_X_Trailers for the cache and for introducing us to this trail.
Found with Rapidly wild and the ladies of the FurfacesLL on our Yorke Peninsula geoinvasion extra long weekend. The objective: make the nab on the geoart and on as many others as our time and energy would allow Lots of fun and laughs and a great weekend all round!
We'd finished making the collect on the geoart so we were off to see the sights and collect some trads around the National Park. Another quick pick up before moving on to the beach

Our geomission with Rapidlywild and SpecimenX had commenced. This geomission had been in the planning since the new geo-art caches had been placed. The Canberra Day long weekend was chosen to give us enough days to collect as many as possbile. Our target is to get all of the caches in the art works and a few more if possible.
We finished collecting all the art and now it was time to take in the sights of the peninsula and the national park.
Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches we had a blast of a weekend!

Today was our day of caching in Innes National Park and surrounds. The views were fantastic and the day was lovely - not too bright and not too overcast either. We did have a little bit of rain toward the end of the day, but it all worked out for an absolutely perfect day of caching.
Last one on this particular trail before we turned around to get back into the car and head on to our next cache.

After a bit of challenging riding for our seven year old Bastians boy, we made a quick find in beautiful setting. Thanks!
Our first FTF! This is one of our favourite walks especially at this time of year. Late afternoon and decided to check out this row of caches. Yay!
