Logs
We just arrived at the Stewart island lodge and are going for a walk around the area and also visit a few caches. This one we could not find.
Last cache before sailing back to the main land I will be back with so much more to explore
One day on Stewarts Island: it was raining the whole day and the ride with the ferry was quite bumpy. But finding caches works with any weatherFund Nr. 1372
We found this yesterday but were being mobbed by sandflies and couldnt extract the log!! Back again today for a much more pleasant experience, though the log is full and I have no paper to replace it. Found a tiny corner to sign!! Thank you x
Found with HarrisGang5. A bit of a mission to extract, but got it eventually. TFTC granville86a
It is good to bring a pen! Not only to log the logbook, but also to get the little tin out of the hole. TYFTC!!!
Area easy to locate, but needed others comments to help me pinpoint and extract.
#2300. Fantastic few days on the island with a few caches found. Lots of good memories
Found this yesterday after doing the half moon hike from the bay. It took so time but we freed it from its hiding place. Put it back so it shouldnt be as hard to free! It was a beautiful view and a great way to end the day!!
Out with my Travel buddy Ros ending our 21 hiking/driving in the South island and. Now Stewart Island.so impressed the maintend paths here. Nice easy find very tricky to extract Thanks for the cache. Greetings from Australia.
Arrived in Stewart Island this morning. Picked up a few caches during a reasonable walk before being able to check in to the hotel. Dull day but dry. Some very nice scenery around the place. Took a minute or two to locate this one, then even longer to successfully extract it. Required Mrs tbirds tweezers to do so. #7242. TFTC.
Easy find with Black Backed Gull, Oystercatchers and muggles all around.Thank you granville86a
Gevonden samen met Bald Eagle op onze trip door Nieuw Zeeland op 27 mrt. 2024 17:07. Dank je wel granville86a voor deze cache. Groetjes van mij 1703 uit Eindhoven
What a Great Place here at the end of the world. We have never been so close to the south pole. Thank you very much for hiding.
Back and made a sort of tool that worked. Cache should be easier for next cacher. Thanks
It took a moment to locate this one, and yet another moment to retrieve it, but eventually we did And a beautiful location Thanks for bringing us here TFTC
We are visiting from Auckland and it is fitting that this cache is our first cache on the island. Glad to see this one is still in place although it took a bit of maneuvering to get it out of its hidey hole. Many thanks for the cache in this beautiful place and thank you to the COs whanau for keeping this wonderful cache going. TFTC!
Woohoo - it is still there, just slightly protected at the right hand of the view. Our first cache!
Did not find the cache, likely needs maintenance as per last log. Actively watched by muggles so couldn't look too closely
Unfortunately, someone has removed this cache. Also checked the area but found nothing. We'll look again tomorrow. With friendly Dutch greetings RoMo 1742
Tried to fit this in on the way back to the airport so couldnt give it the due time and there were people around so generally bad timing on my behalf. Lovely view! Had the time of our lives on Stewart Island, loved picking up a few other caches
I found this cache during a walkabout on Stewart Island. I had just met up with the doctor from our cruise ship, so I was able to show him what geocaching is and how to find the cache. Since he and his wife travel extensively, maybe they will take up the hobby. TFTC
Dieser Cache konnte heute erfolgreich geloggt werden.Danke an den owner fr's legen und pflegen TFTC Schmerzbefreit
We were a bit rusty through lack of geocaching practice but after checking the comments, we were eventually successful. TFTC
Cache was jammed, Ella was trying to retrieve it with a pen.She was determined she was going to get it, so went and found a stick. She finally succeeded, and has put it in a better place.Good cache
Great hide and found quickly by GingerJames22, together with Halibr. Enjoying a cold drink now while waiting for the rain to pass. Tftc!
After a lot of unsuccessful looking, and studying the logs, I finally managed to spy it. But how to get it out? Much poking at last gave it to me. Thanks for the great hide!
Needed tweezers to extract from its hidey hole. Visiting from UK so didn't have my usual caching gear so borrowed partners eyebrow tweezers. Best keep that quiet though ay! TFTC
We spent two nights on Stewart island during our trip through New Zealand. The day in between we explore Oban and its surroundings by going from cache to cache. We started at the memorial in the harbor and ended our route at Wohlers rest. We tried to time our walk for one of the nuggets, but even at low tide, the water was still too high (and cold!). Most of these traditionals were easy to find. Lucky for us, because we were chased by a horde of sandflies. Thanks to all the COs for placing and maintaining the caches!
Logged while waiting for friends before our Ulva Island Odyssey. Tricky to get out, but finness won over in the end. Thanks for the cache.
Tough to find as hidden in a side hole with part of log book on the ground. Good second find.
Had to find at least one cache on our first and probably only visit to Stewart Island. Thank you for this one, which Sandra found after a bit of a think and judicious poking. A lovely sunny day, couldn't have asked for better. Thanks again for the cache.
Finally found it! Picture was wrong and it is no longer there but is close by! Good find found it on our 3rd try!
The picture is a little misleading, but we found it in the end when we decided to take a seat and enjoy the view!
Decided to have another grab of this one and write my name again a few years after the last visit! Found a few caches on our trip around the Rakiura track for a Silver Duke of Ed expedition. I do hope I will be back - such a beautiful part of the world!
Spending a few days on beautiful Stewart Island. We had a couple of tries on this one to avoid muggles. Got on the second or third visit!! Thanks for the hide.
After reading the recent logs, I was not expecting to find this cache I sat down to admire the view and bingo! Found it safe and secure. Great view from here, have had a fabulous four days in Stewart Island. Many thanks. Forgot my pen so have taken a photo.
