Not a find for me today. There has been a small slip on the bank so wasn't sure if it is still there.
First physical cache I found here in New Zealand.could not find any other so far. I am so happy.
#681 We did the track with Sneeuwitjie and Blikoor on on a beautiful, but very hot day! Quick find! Awsome view! TFTC
Couldn't find this on the way up, as I was seeing anything that worked with the hint.
I decided to have another go on the way down, and it still took a while, but I eventually found it.
Thanks for setting this up

With gorby, jags50 and supernannny on the way to the top. Replaced with permission ofCO. Thanks, good view of refinery
A few weeks ago I asked rustynz where she wanted to have her 8000th milestone cache to land on. I knew it was coming up soon. She suggested among other caches Mnt Manaia in Whangarei. My ears pricked up… yes! That’s where we should go. Mnt Manaia was supposed to be the place my 4000th cache was meant to be back in 2016. But on the day, the track was under maintenance and so we had to plan somewhere else.
So once that plan was on the go, the ball really started rolling, supernanny suggested a weekend away there too, so I asked Nicholas (Riser5 master of the CITO) if he wanted to organise a CITO for us and we’d come up from Auckland to Whangarei and join him. Once he had a definite date, I booked myself in for 2 nights.
This where we replaced the hide, given permission by the C.O only an hour or so ago when we saw him at his CITO. I had a few small containers and rusty had spare paper, so we shoved the container in at the roots as per the hint then carried on up the hill, boy this is hard work, getting old....

Thought this one would be easy but it’s not there… so I don’t think. If someone finds it, you’ve done a better job than me and my partner.
Quite obvious but we put it a little further back (in the same spot) Medium sized cache, nice find for our 9 yr old on the way up
The weather was grey and overcast with rain threatening, so we made an early start to explore this area. The track was a little muddy and slippery after the rain the previous evening. A quick find of the cache here thanks to the hint TFTC
On our way from Mangawhai Heads to Paihia. We were supposed to be going to Tutukaka but the weather is about to turn pear shaped so we decided to hunker down for three days in Paihia to ride the storm out.
Making a pilgrimage up Mt Manaia to fill a missing month in our Jasmer.
The GPS zeroed out a bit soon but quickly found on the expanded search.

My SO and I found this cache in a trek up the mountain!! We had a competition to find the cache and unfortunately my SO found it and I didn’t. But it twas a lit find
Last cache on our way down, it's getting late and we need to find a place for the night. Thanks for the cache, it is a very nice walk and geocaching along the way is fun, ad the story about the place .
Thanks spending two weeks travelling around the north island with Kiscardi. Enjoying our walks and our finding of cache. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining them.
TFTC. One every 200 m or so made for an excellent break on a lovely warm afternoon.
Main reason for a walk was to grab the oldie up here but also enjoyed the exercise and the views were awesome
We decided on a walk up Mania to get the caches. Have not been up this way for awhile. Before they put in the boardwalk. Great to see the Kauri, and a great bit of exercise.
I was a bit to short to reach this one but my partner managed easily. Have dropped off a Trackable to continue its journey

At GZ only a snipped off green wire. If this isn’t counted as a real find please feel free to delete! TFTC Needs maintenance
We found the loop of green wire attached to the cut roots but nothing attached to it. Looks like someone has taken it. Can we log a find please, CO?
Nice find while in the area with tmann421 today
Enjoying the trip north and the caches
Signed log as tm/ww NZ

Nice find with woolwood9 today.
*We enjoyed the drive / walk around the area.*
Stamped logs as tm/ww NZ which may just look like a black smudge on plastic logs!

*As far as we are going today as we were really looking forward to the walk to the WWII bunkers and the Spot-X caches, plus with the heat this was a tough walk! A bad decision as due to a sign being removed over there we couldn't do the puzzles and didn't bother with most of that walkway.*
Really wish we continued to the top here it looked well worth the effort.

Went out for a hike up Mt Manaia late this afternoon with my son to work off the Christmas dinners and the excessive eating that occurs at this time of the year. Even at 5.00p.m. it was still hot during the climb so we were glad to have the couple of canteens of water with us.
With the GPS not giving us much accuracy in our hunt we were relying on the hints for there Manaia caches. Unfortunately there are quite a few "cut roots" in this section of the track but with a bit of searching between Jared and I we finally discovered this cache hidden away.

Found thanks to tho clear instructions and hint. My GPS continued to misbehave, showing me 8m away
We had to ignore the GPS and use the hint to make a find here. The helped enormously. Tftc
My second cache find made while walking the Mount Manaia track this morning. The trail is still nice and quiet at the moment, so plenty of time to search for caches. TFTC
My only one today, to many Muggels and a jumpy gps. Great view from the top. Thank you
A nice quick easy find here - really not a long enough rest spot for this unfit geocacher - signed and returned. Found with darthcacher1 and purply.
After the thunder and rain came for a walk up here. Too little patience for majority of caches. If don’t want them found ie high D rating then that’s a shame. Tried a couple. Enjoyed the hike. Moose TB dipped. TFTC. TM from N Wales
The weather was still not ideal, but we decided that as we are not made of sugar, we will last the trip! The main aim was Mt Manaia for the day. We set of nice and early, and maybe we should have waited until the afternoon when the clouds mostly lifted!! Great place to visit in any case! I was so glad when we found this one, as we have had no finds since the bottom so far!!! TFTC!!
Failed to find this one on our way up but managed to locate it on our way back down. I think I need a better GPS device. TFTC
After attending the Onerahi foreshore CITO, this morning and picking up the last of the OC caches as well afterward, I headed out to Manaia, to try and clear up the remaining green dots on my map here.
The carpark was absolutely full and there were even other cars parked on the roadside, so I wondered if I might have a problem with muggles on the track. There were certainly lots met who were heading back down, but luckily none at GZ when I got there. With the good hint, cache was quickly located, log signed and returned as found, before the next lot of muggles arrived, heading downward. TFTC

The mountain is getting steeper the higher we get. The kids were racing up and I was grateful for a quick rest. An easy find on this great walk, thanks
We found this cache on our climb to Mt Manaia, which was quite a nice workout!
Thanks so much for hiding it!

I'm travelling around NZ for 7 weeks, using geocaching as my travel-planner. I was so lucky to be offered to stay overnight with thegreatauk and his mom, and that also meant that I could go crazy geocaching with thegreatauk. We had a big day today, we left the house at 6.45am and came back 10.45pm. We started off with the Tiger-caches, then we walked up to Mt Manaia and finished off with the SpotX. We had plans to go to Peach Cove and Eagle Rock as well, but we didn't have the time (or energy) for that. A great day with lots of beautiful scenery and caches.

Out for a full days geocaching in the heads trying to get as many caches as possible leaving early coming back late but having a great day out doing urquharts bay/Smugglers cove and Mt Manaia was great. A few DNF's but mainly finding the caches. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing caches to find. More cut roots than I expected but found it after a short search. TFTC.
A really cool walk with a stunning view! Unfortunately just found two caches of this series!
TFTC! #1352

Do not attempt. A big Kauri Die Back track upgrade has happened on Mt Manaia to stop people going off track.
Found this one on our hike on a very rainy and cloudy day. It was still a very nice walk and lookout from the top. TFTC
Walked past this one and had to walk back a few meters when gps caught up. Views great as expected. Thanks for bringing us here Riser5.
Simple cache but locking into the co ords took the time ...soon had cache in hand ....thanks riser5 for the cache ..NB the base is broken
Enjoying the walk and company as part of the "Get outdoors" event group, quick find .Tftc.
Walked right past this one with my GPSr taking ages to catch up. The observer* had it in hand almost before I realised I needed to backtrack! Strategic stops to admire the views! Thanks again Riser5... onwards and upwards to the next one...
Was visiting Mount Manaia for the get out of doors day event, whilst hiking the mountain took the opportinity and breathing room to pick up the caches.
Nice quick find, TFTC
