Sadly I'm going to archive this cache for two reasons:
1 - I'm unable to maintain it in the near future, and
2 - The original cache and its replacement were both lost by previous finders and the hide type needed to change such that it should be a new Geocache.

I look forward to finding the next cache on this walkway one day!

13-Aug-19
Okay - we saw this was missing in March 2019 so didn't walk along the wharf - it's now August and nothing's been done. Time to either replace or archive!

On the road for our first venture into the North Island with our little caravan to explore this part of the country. It is not a caching expedition as such, but we do manage to stop for one or two . We’ve been on the road now for 38 days since arriving in Wellington and are now on stage 2 of our trip – ‘The Crossing’ – from the East coast to the West coast. We arrived in New Plymouth, via the Forgotten World Highway from Taumaranui, Rotorua, and Whakatane. Stage 1 was the East Coast, Gisborne, Mahia, Wairoa, Napier, Cape Kidnappers, the Wairarapa, Cape Turnagain and Cape Palliser. We’ve had a variety of weathers, but mostly ‘good’, although a few days have been a bit , Hola was a somewhat of a ‘no show’, thank goodness. We have already seen and discovered lots of interesting things about our country that are new to us. Our travels lead us to your cache, as we travelled across the island, many thanks, tommygun9, for bringing us here. We’ve had great fun so far and look forward to finding a couple more caches as we travel on our way. A favourite point from us. TFTC.

16-Jan-18
Pretty cool well hidden

16-Jan-18
After moving halfway round the world and spending the last three months sorting houses and settling in New Plymouth it was nice to spot someone looking a little too closely to a post at the port - obviously must be a cacher - using my phone app I confirmed it was a cache, nice to meet a NZ cacher. It inspired me to find my GPS in one of the many boxes still to unpack and get back into the hobby I loved so much in the UK. TFTC

15-Jan-18

Hi there tommygun9 - today was a touristy around Taranaki looking more for interesting places than for caches (yes - I know... Shame on me). This was a most splendid location for a cache, especially with the snow on top of Mt Taranaki today. The log sheet is full, but we were able to squeeze our name along one of the edges. Thanks for the placement, much appreciated.

21-Nov-17
On a month long road trip of the North Island from the UK. After hiking at Taranaki, we stopped for fish and chips nearby and watched the sun go down before grabbing this one. Loving New Plymouth. TFTC.

On a very cool and windy afternoon DragonDefender and I walked along the breakwater to this one. I originally thought I would have to go back for TOTT but in the end it was not needed. It was time to head back to the warmth of the caravan.

Cheers for the cache.

20-Aug-17
rustynz tells me I need to catch up with all my logging!

A 3 day weekend of fun with a group of Westies (rustynz, gorby, jag58 & merlot58)

Sorry for the generic logs. Thanks to all the CO for the hides, and the adventure

20-Aug-17
I have always enjoyed that song btw. This is our 3rd and last day for our adventures for Team Westies x6. We came here, we saw, we conquered, we walked away and so thank you tommygun9. I wouldn't like to be here when waves get on top of those concrete barriers. Scary stuff.

20-Aug-17
Log later

20-Aug-17
Down in New Plymouth with a team of Westies. We approached GZ and quickly spotted the cache. Managed to open the cache and extract the log with out too much effort or the special tool that we had brought with us.

20-Aug-17
I was visiting New Plymouth for the weekend with a few other Westies from Auckland. We had no problems with the find and although we had brought a TOTT with us we were able to extract the log without it.

20-Aug-17
Another short walk on from the previous cache, and here we are Big Grin

Seen this kind of hide before, it needs to be tough to survive what could be rugged conditions. The seawall looks impressive.

Thanks for the hide, enjoying walking on a stunning winters day, with a group of Westies, another fun find, the log signed Team Westies (merlot58, rustynz, rebel98, Jag50 and Gorby)

18-Aug-17

Hubby and I headed to Taranaki to see the Festival of the Lights then travelled around the mountain. The weather wasn't the best. Never saw the mountain until 4th day. Day before we were due to head home. I decided to do some geocaching. Did 13. Had only 1 DNF as the cache has disappeared. #6. We decided to ride the coastal walkway this morning. Started at Ngamotu Beach. I had done my homework and this one was an easy find. I was really glad the weather wasn't too rough. SL once I coaxed it out. TFTC. Smile
