Fooled the other half & didn't inform him about this terribly hilly part of the "River" Trail to start off our ride There was a slight bit of to-ing & fro-ing as didn't want to crash on the bike, so phone safely in pocket. Got there in the end. TFTC !
Good hide, although when I found it the rock was beside rather than behind stump. TFTC
Have always missed this far end cache previously but with no time pressure today this was on the list. Pushed the bike to the top and enjoyed the view(s) before checking the (wrong) stump. Read some logs, adjusted downhill and soon made the find. After coming back from the Poutu canal I had lunch and a brew and headed out on the bile again for another 10-15km ride.Onto phase 2 for the day, cycling the Tongariro river walkways. Ended up turning round and heading back from Red Hut pool and covering same ground. More great scenery and a comfortable terrain level.I have (another) long weekend away from home starting Friday, destination is Turangi. Our work has a team-building day on Friday with Whitewater rafting in teams followed by Tokaanu hot-pools and shared lunch. It was a double banger event with half the people doing Wednesday and the remainder on Friday. As chance would have it I'd already identified this weekend as a weekend away at Turangi and booked the work bach to stay in Friday and Saturday night. That was fortunate as I drove myself up on Friday morning and stayed the weekend. I brought a work push-bike along too with the hope to cover more ground, and so it was. I found almost all of my target caches and a decent haul was made. Waking up Sunday morning to overnight rain and fog across the Desert Road left me glad I'd done most finding on Friday and Saturday. Thanks to all COs for their efforts hiding, especially Funkymunkyzone. I even bumped into another caching couple on the trails on Saturday, nice to meet you cympull and fisha1288.
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we are staying at the NZMCA Park in Turangi decided we would get the bikes out of the back of the Ute & go for a ride around the Tongariro River Trail, a walking & Clycling trail that goes up one side of the river & back down the other side we had a couple of Adventure Labs to complete and, of course, do some caching while out and about this was an easy find, log signed & cache container easily replaced pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #4,862 for us!
Thanks CartertoniC for the cache. Its #1914 for us. We found your cache on Monday 25 March 2024. Thought wed take a short walk which turned into a longer walk because of geocaches!
The rock in the clue definitely helped as loads of stumps and GPS kpt cutting in and out
The GPS wanted Mr BLB to make a fool of himself (to which he had a few choice words) but the phone proved to be more accurate. Found by Mrs BLB. Tftc and greetings from EnglandGets a favorite for the views
First family caching trip. Mr 9 won the race to find it and robbed miss 11 of her first find. Tftc

Staying at the Turangi Bridge motel, had a bit of time to go for a short stroll. Beautiful evening with stunning views. Thanks for placing the cache
Pefectly placed as described. No muggles here now as it is a bit rainy. Beautiful view up here.TFTC
#2620. This is day 9 of an 11 day trip from Wellington, via Inglewood to Paihia to Auckland to Te Aroha to Taupo to Turangi with GB Leader and Dianna58 (our newly GC signed up German wwoofer). It looks like rain could come, so after arriving in Turangi, lets get a cache along the riverbank before its too late. The 3 of us set off, but sadly the first hide was a DNF. GB Leader returned to get the car, while Dianna58 & I carried on to meet up with her at the bridge.First, this cache was now the priority - an easy find with excellent hint. The log is full so I added a replacement. Tftc CartertoniC
We went on a longer walk around the river than we expected, but we made it here and caught some nice views. Thanks!
Found with quinella - Managed to fit our log in but log sheet needs replacing as it’s full tftc
Headed down to Taupo for a long weekend to attend the Possum Night Trail run on Saturday. Left Auckland early on Friday, getting stuck in the traffic on the way to Fielddays at Mystery Creek. Soon left the State Highway to travel down to Turangi.
On Friday I decided to complete the Tongariro River Trail. I completed the 14.75km circular route in 4 hours of caching.
Parking along SH1 near the bridge, this was the first cache on the route. I ended up catching up to some muggles at the top after weaving myself up the steep path. I passed by them and then stopped to take pictures of the view from up here to let them go ahead. They once again stopped and I continued on. I managed to locate the cache quickly and return it before the muggles appeared around the corner.

I parked up across the road and took the track under the bridge. No problems location the cache once I got to GZ. TFTC
Found it during a short coffee-,break on my way to Wellington. Sadly I can't stay in this beautiful area!

As I neared the end of my walk, I wasn't expecting a climb of this size. Normally, it wouldn't concern me but I was feeling fairly weary by the time I arrived here. I did notice there were a lot more seats for taking a rest than at any other part of the Trail. Also on the plus side, after an earlier heavy downpour , the sun was now unhidden and I was drying out rapidly. This was a simple find but it did require a bit of a stretch to get to.
Out enjoying the river trail this afternoon and grabbing a few caches along the way.
Thanks for your amazing cache. I really appreciate the time you took to set up and maintain your caches.
Found with Fisha1288. Her #800. Well done Princess
Cheers, Cympull.

Who is the fool?? I'm often a fool as I do love going up hills, no different here, a nice push to the top for a quick find of a cache that has been on the list for a while! Usually we are passing through either on the way somewhere or on the way home late, today we had a bit of spare time and found a few that were on the list of one day caches.

Made it to the top and took the path down. Had a rest on a bench. Walked a bit further to find an excellent cache. TFTC
Spending a week in Taupo, so a good excuse to pick a few caches along the way.

Why do muggles appear just as you get to gz? Had to backtrack a bit when he disappeared. Fine views now rain has stopped but a bit sweaty after the climb.
One of 10 (traditional) caches found whilst biking the river loop in an endeavour to complete the “Fishing the Tongariro” Ad Lab quest. Found this one more quickly than I think I was expecting to! #4446. TFTC.
Staying in Tūrangi for the night before setting off to walk the Tongariro Northern Circuit. Having checked in to my accommodation there was plenty of time for a loop around the river walk and to pick off some caches on the way.
Checking both ways before I dived into the bush I found the cache right as advertised.
Thanks CartertoniC

Staying in Turangi for the night on our way south. Headed off early on the bike to explore the riverside trails. Great to be on two wheels in such stunning surroundings and finding caches as a bonus. Thanks CartertoniC for setting this series. Loved the detailed hints. Another TRT ticked off. Cache and log all fine. Managed to combine these finds with several adventure lab waypoints. Lots of overlapping which was helpful. Thanks for the smiley.
Part of our trip along the river trail on our ebikes. Nice view from here near the end of our trip. TFTC.
A nice quick find thanks. I had to use some lower gears to get up the hill. I was surprised how high it got. A fun set of hairpins on the way down.
Ms_KR and I are off on a wee tour of the North Island. It was a great weather most of today, well not wet and not windy! We were based around Turangi and mixed up the day with a bit af walking, biking and driving.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

This one took a little hunting as GPS was not playing the game and quite a few candidates to look behind. Tell tale rock appeared and cache was soon in hand. TFTC
TFTC. No pen with me, so no entry in log.
Exactly as described. Was tricked by a few stumps until I believed the GPS

Evening stroll along the river pathway which has turned into a fast paced walk as darkness decends. Nice quick find. Unfortunately the view has disappeared. TFTC
While walking along the trail we were wondering why all the tree stumps were all falling a part, then we quickly realised it must be from other people looking for this spot too
After searching a couple of the wrong spots we finally saw a little tunnel behind the right stump and saw the rock and container

Assimilated by theb0rg whilst on the river walk around Turangi. Had me "stumped" for a bit but got there in the end T4TC, which is in good condition...
After it finally stopped raining today, I had to go out. I didn't really know where to go so I just went wherever. Somehow I ended up here and I'll do parts of the track. TFTC
