We came by scooter, ran out of power. We came on foot, and were Chased off by geese. So,we came by sea, like pirates and got the cache, yeay....
Waited for some muggles to pass by after sitting down. Then we quickly found it after a good minute of checking the specific place of the hint. Nice cache to finish off the trail. Now off back to the car. TFTC.
I'm down in Auckland for a geocaching weekend with Yvettetb. She wanted to go geocaching for her birthday and I wanted to get some big numbers to bring my December tally up. Today's plan was to do the walks in Long Bay Regional Park as well as a few others enroute. We walked 18.7Kms and got 30 or so caches. It was a good bit of exercise and quite productive cachewise too. This was our furtherest out one in the park today. Lots of Te Araroa walkers seemed to be coming along the trail here. From where I wasn't sure. I vaguely remember the terms enthalpy and entropy from my degree but it was 30 years ago. Absolutely zero is my chemistry knowledge now - well not quite but pretty close. We certainty needed someone guiding us hot, cold, colder here as we ended up checking all the posts in the area before I found it. Thanks for your cache trail
We did it, we made it to Absolute Zero. We checked the obvious places for this cache first but it was not to be found to be expanded our search and there it was exactly as per the hint. We past a few more Te Araroa muggles on the path to this cache as it was low tide when we made it to our furthest point for the day. Thanks for bringing me here and TFGC.I took today off to celebrate my birthday and what better way to celebrate than by going geocaching. What a fantastic summers day for caching in and around Long Bay Regional Park with Lis's Crew.
After not being able to do the walk I wanted I came here and spent 1/2 a day navigating about finding caches and clicking up the step counter. Thanks for all the yellow smiles! Parked at the far end of the regional park and walked all the way to here and back. Cached my way to this one and then just a straight walk back. Very scenic along the way.
Here at last ! No sign anymore, but we searched the likely spots and the cache is there and all good. Then lunch in the shade of the pohutukawa trees, looking over to Dacre Cottage.
Headed on up to Long Bay today after an earlier attempt ended in a blown heater hose, resulting in an overheated mode of transport....then the next 4 hours were spent sorting out a tow etc...... Today was a much more successful trip......
Parked up and took the bikes for a jaunt around the park.....
I believe there was a sign nearby that might have explained the hint, but the sign is no more....
TFTC.

Yay, I've made it to the end of the trail! But first... One last cache. As I made my way up the hill, I noticed a bike parked right next to GZ with no apparent owner. I waited for a couple minutes hoping they would appear out of the shadows and not leave me feeling awkward about what to do. Impatiently, I started searching for the cache and that's of course when they stumbled up the hill and caught me in the act of hunting! I explained myself and the nice man started helping me search for the cache as he said he'd heard about our sport before. I soon located the cache, and off we went on our separate ways.
Exhausted after completing this long walk, I took a rest in the long grass nearby. I attached a photo of my lovely seat. TFTC G-2!
Super keen to collect some more caches and head out on a trip somewhere, I decided I'd bus up to Long Bay Regional Park and collect some of my unfound caches around the area this afternoon. It was a nice day for it - Not too hot, not too cold and ended up collecting exactly 20 geocaches over the course of nearly 6 hours on foot! No wonder I'm feeling absolutely finished right now, and especially because of some of the demanding terrain in the regional park. Thanks very much to all CO's who made this an enjoyable day for me

Found with Tasmyn earlier today but phone battery had died so login now.
This cache made the daily score 6-7 in Tasmyns fav. Unfortunately as my phone had died, i feel she was keeping some key details to herself to gain an advantage in this find. As i was directed 2 posts away from the actual find zone.

After reading the long description we soon found where something should of been which helped us to find this more quickly than if we had not of done our reading. Going to go cool down and bit now and dip our toes in the water.
Took a little while to find this one because there were a few places it could be, but I tried them all and eventually found the cache. The tide was out, so after signing the log and replacing the cache, I wandered down to the beach and out into the shallows. Couldn't quite walk all the way to the other side, but maybe another time. Cache all good. TFTC!
This took me ages. Firstly trying to locate a sign that doesn’t exist and then search where it one was located. After that it was relatively quick. TFTC
I've been looking forward to doing this series for such a long time and today I am finally here. I walked all the way up here and started at this side of the track. I will now slowly make my way back, hopefully finding as many caches as possible. Perfect day, blue sky, a nice breeze, not too warm nor too cold. Just perfect.
FP for the scenic location and the easy hide. Tftc

Took the kids to burn off some energy along the Coastal Walk. The sign is now missing but the cache was still easily found, TFTC and the series!
Yay. The last one for the day today. New day tomorrow. Thank you for all the great caches ..
Last cache of the day. Had a bit of trouble here as sign no longer in place but a careful look and we realised where it had been. Easy find after that. Also saw fish jumping here as capperz mentioned in his log. Thanks G-2 for a great trail. Favourite point from us as the caches brought us to a place we had not realised was here and the sunny Spring day made it even more special.
I was convinced by the hint in the description and searched for the sign to look below. I even headed over the wooden fence in an attempt to match the D rating but no sign there. Came back over for a systemic search at GL and made the find. This was my second longest search after bra-hanger cache but great views out there. There were a number of kawahi leaping out in the shallows as I passed so spent a few minutes watching that. FP here of course as the end of the line.
After the couple of hours of mingling, chatting and 'hosting', everyone dispersed to their own plans and agendas and I had a plan to head to the end of the track and back, caching as I went (of course). I reckon it took me a full 2 hours to get to tracks end, but only 40 minutes from there back to the car. The sun was out, and so were the other walkers but all good and not seen by anyone for any caches, super-stealth mode.
Quite an interesting geocaching day for me today in a number of ways. First up I'm hosting my awarded Celebration Event at Long Bay after the Covid-spoiling one was cancelled at Hobsonville a while back. And that also means I get to attend/find my first cache-type of Celebration event, a new cache Icon. And best of all I get to meet the geocaching community up here in the mighty Auckland area. I've cached here (in moderation) a few times over the last 13 years of living here in NZ, but never lived in the 'big smoke'. That all changed a couple of ,months ago and suddenly this target rich environment is starting to bear fruit (caches).
So, I was out of the house at around 0630 this morning with a wish to get some in before event a clock, which was all good as I managed a few finds early doors. All up today I managed just over 60 finds which was good, and after a misty start the sun attended and all was good, and hot. A D5 cache, meeting some new friends and a decent 15km walk was testament to a successful day, and a Silverdale Burger Fuel for a feed too, awesome-ness was experienced. I even managed to knock off the last few Smile puzzle finals to make my round face beam (geo-icon, not my real face!) T F T C all COs today.

Out at the community celebration event today. This is one of the caches I grabbed while here.
Decided to do a loop with Tramyard to do some caches we both needed and then headed off on a run by myself to get all the caches around the long bay point.
Thanks to all the COs who placed caches here!
Finally to the end!!
Nice trail to run here and a beautiful day for it!

Skipped a few caches towards the end as I’m running out of day and energy, but was adamant I was getting the last one! Well placed and such a fun walk to geocache
Have never been this far on the track before. Had to pick up the pace to get to the beach cos I had a large group of people some distance behind me. By the time they had arrived, I had signed the log & returned it & back looking at the views. TFTC

**Out and about at Long Bay hiking in the sun**
We drove up to Okura to walk that trail, when Cachewnut_ and I realized that the track was closed - nobody else was there and we saw two signs stating that.
So off we went to Long Bay - even though it was rather hot we still decided to do the hike.
We started off and had a good one-hour walk before stopping at the last bay to have a quick snack and a little rest.
The cache app was opened and we spotted the cache pin about 60 meters away.
So off we went, we walked about 2 minutes before arriving at GZ. Cachewnut_ looked, found the cache and then it didn’t take me long to have it found.
Signed the log and off we went... to walk and have a relaxing swim at the end.
*Thank you for setting up this cache, it was a nice extra to our walk today *

Been meaning to come out here for ages. Came out with Cobra0891 before it got too hot. Cache was a nice easy find for Cobra while I stayed on the beach. Thanks!
Find number 6638. Assisting a German friend as she walks this part of the Te Araroa trail and had some time to grab a few of the caches along the way to Okura river. Then it was a walk back around the base of the cliffs as the tide was out.
As I approached GAZ (Ground Absolute Zero) I looked out and saw my friend already with her feet in the water. Finding was no problem then it was down to join her. Thank you for the placement.

We took a nice Sunday walk on the further part of Long Bay, finishing our gc hunt we started a few weeks ago. NZ winter provided us with a quite sunny yet windy day. And by now Mrs had zero blood sugar level so she took a break to enjoy the view of the beach at Okura. Hubby climbed the last metres and signed the paper log while Mrs took some nice pics and rewards this gorgeous view with a FP. Tftc!
Enjoyed a sunny but windy day walking to GZ. On the beach I found two nude dudes sunbathing. Made a quick find and retreat. TFTC
End of the trail and the cache was exactly where you said it would be. No time to rest tho, now to head back and pick up that side trail for the rest of the Park caches.
After trying to process all of the information in the cache description our brain capacity was nearing absolute zero so we stopped thinking and started searching. There were a few wasps near GZ but we didn’t let them stop us and were pleased to lay our hands on the container reasonably quickly.
Thanks G-2 for all your caches along this trail, we would never have walked this far, or even known this track was here, had it not been for this series and we were very pleased to have Okura Bay all to ourselves and be able to enjoy the peace and tranquillity before heading back to civilisation.

Great hide at the end of the track. Thank you for all caches in the area. Great walk, great fun , great wetaher. TFTC
Never been to Long Bay before and decided we need to go to the end. Also to get the last of a DT ratings for a challenge. Also this is now our most Northern NZ cache to date. Thanks Glyn for the adventure - cache is in mint condition!
Followed coastline before realising GZ was higher up so had to scramble up the bank. Good hint made this a quick find. Tftc
Out and about today taking full advantage of the terrific weather today to trek around Long Bay Regional Park. A great day to be out looking for hides and earning smilies. After finding the bonus cache, having completed a cross country adventure, I was keen to rejoin the coastal walk. I made my way along the beach then climbed up through the Fennell to reach GZ. Then I just couldn't find the dang cache. After checking everywhere 2 or 3 times I called the previous finder. Of course it was right where I had looked previously. I blame the kikuyu grass because...reasons? Right, time to head back toward the car park. Cheers for the cache placement and the exercise today!
Late morning, early afternoon outing for the Kiwiscot clan. A proper summers day for a change today. Kiwiscot & Kiwi took the higher terrain route from the beach below to gz. They still had not uncovered the hide when Scotty joined them after walking the long way round. Knew where it should have been but the long grass was not helping matters. Got there in the end. Added a couple of swappables for any kids who venture this far. TFTC and enjoyable walk. Now time to head back and collect the cahces we have been skipping on the way out.
Heading out early to Long Bay today with yorkshirekiwi83 to hit some of our unfound caches on the coastal walk before meeting up with some friends for a day at the beach. Made this find nice and quickly and it was on to the next one, nearly there! Thanks for the find.
After a dry off and replacing our shoes, we thought we had better go and grab this little guy. Was interesting to see all of the fennel around, had no idea that it grew out in the wild like that.
After drying off from the last find, we nearly forgot this cache. That would have been an epic fail..
As we bush wacked through the fennel and thistles, I nearly headed back down to the beach below "the fast way".
Easy find once at GZ.
TFTC and Happy New Year.

Cracking day meant a paddle and a cache was the go. Left from Arkles Bay and headed over this way. Easy spot to get out of the kayak and unlike recent caching in Australia the jandals and long grass combo wasnt an issue. Free science lesson was a bonus. TFTC
It was a nice walk to the end of the trail and as it was nice and sheltered from the wind here we decided to stop and have some lunch before heading back. Lots of people out walking here today, everyone making the most of the nice sunny day after all the rain we've had
It was nice to finally get to the end of the trail. Found the cache and made the decision to rest here for lunch and enjoy the scenery. A few others had the same idea and headed down to the beach.
Made it here this morning, once I got up to GZ it was what sign ?, oh that sign, cache quickly in hand, TFTC
Stunning morning to be on the track and the first time I've made it right to the end! Nice and easy to find but only once I'd read the description properly !
absolute zero could also be the end of the "menopause weather".. perhaps that was all we needed to get to that barrier and push the stop button - because it did.. nice sunny windy day from then onward s all the way back.. and the grey sky stayed over gulf harbour where it belongs....
Nice geocache hunting along the cliffs despite some quick and violent rain showers, the soil is full of water, please stop raining !!
We came back by the beach at low tide, a lovely walk.
Fefe.adrien and I signed on logbooks : Lekiprokos.

Despite the rain and the mud, Ninalila and I tried to find as many caches as possible during our walk.
All the boxes were easy to find, and we didnt searched the one with a previous DNF to avoid wasting time under the rain We had to hide under trees a few times because we were already wet haha
We came back by the beach with the low tide.
Almost at the end of the track, we spent some time feeding cows with some yummy plants
We signed the logbook with our team name : lekiprokos
Thank you for the cache and the discovery

Lovely day, great afternoon for a walk and son wanted to go for a long walk to hatch some pokemon eggs (doesn't geocache any more, but at least he joins me on the walks even if he is playing a peculiar game - must be his Dads son).
So of we headed to Long Bay for a long walk (well actually it was of we headed for Okura).
Also wanted to check out new geocacing app, now that I have a phone where the compus will actually work ( thanks to son who needed a new phone for Pokemon). TFTC

Finally the end of the trail. I tried to be logical to find the cache, but that didn't work (does it ever?). I finally just made an exhaustive search and got it. TFTC.

To cool something to absolute zero means you would need to have something already at absolute zero so it could bring the other item down to absolute zero.

Found by mister e who takes home the find trophy for the day. He chooses tea on the way back home
Thanks for the series. A more thorough read of the Description and a quick read of recent activity helped make the cache a quick grab.
Stopped near here to have our lunch. The pohutukawa provided a nice seat for us! I took the route from the beach to the cach, hubby took the upland route which proved easier than my route, but I made it!
On a little trek to fill a couple of missing smilies.
Did the rest of the temperature caches along this walk 5 months before this one got published in 2014. Took this long to work up the energy to go back & go all the way to the end for just 1 extra smilie.
Nice cache, nice place for lunch
Thanks

A great series on a hot summer day, didn't reach absolute zero and would have enjoyed a cold swim but didn't bring the togs. Interesting to see this gate at the end of the trail. TFTC
Our party arrives at "Zero" and whilst I am reading the description/hint gorby already has the cache in his hand and a large smile
When we return to the "Geocaching Christmas Event" at the beach its been 3 1/2 hours walking or 10 km. Thanks jag50 for that, it means I can eat that rum ball with "no worries". The smell of aniseed fills the air (wild fennel). The morning has been filled with great company and a 100% find rate. Thanks for the hide, and now I can say I have walked the Long Bay Coastal Walk. Its only taken me xxx (too many) years.

Righto! Last cache of the trail... beers waiting somewhere, better not be cold as Absolute zero though, gotta go! Thanks for caches G. Thanks team for the great exercise and company.
Found while out on a bike ride. Love wild fennel, Reminds me of my childhood and visiting my Grandparents neighbours who had this growing in their garden
Hmm, standing on the beach we realised we were still 15m out. Damn, should have come at it from the top rather than the bottom . Found the track in the way back. TFTC.
Find nearly too easy. To raise the difficulty level we approached the cache via the beach from the other side.
So glad I wasn't blinded by the science and was able to find this cache. Great walk on a rainy day.
Woohoo the end! A great walk, very enjoyable. Not to make my way back in the dark. TFTC
After checking out the beach we approached from two different directions. One of us flushing out an enormous pheasant. Decided to sit and have lunch in the sun. A group of kids with their minder approached us b while collecting nature articles but then decided to leave us alone. Did not appear to be fellow cachers.
This is the first time I have done this walk ....We came with a walking group then did caching on the way back . Thanks for this series G-2 .Even though it was wet and windy we enjoyed it and found all but 1 !
Woohoo finished the track - a lovely day out with beconaze. Thanks for all the work putting this trail together. Easy find for the last one after battling through the head high yarrow.
Finally got to the end! It was a super hot day and unlike the cache names the temp seemed to keep rising as we went along the track. Uplifted the tb

Having walked all the way to Absolute Zero we were feeling a little warm [?], so spent a bit of time cooling down before heading back. This was the first time that we have walked right to the end of this park. Thanks for bringing us here.
I tried to access this by heading onto the beach, but that didn't work. So I had to wander through the flowers disturbing bees all the way. Luckily, the bees were feeling generous and did not plant one. I soon had the cache in hand and signed off. TFTC and a nice walk along the coastline here.
Walked along the shoreline and then realised where we needed to be. Scrambled up the bank to GZ and the cache was quickly found. Dropped TB for moving along, TFTC!
Out on an extended Long walk with mike-miss after attending the So Long to ZorkV event, great shady spot on the terraces to enjoy the views before attempting our Long Absolute Zero shade from the hot sun walk back to the car park. Thanks to Mike and Miss for your company and for a most enjoyable afternoon. Thanks to Glyn for taking us out to this idyllic spot.
Had to take my time to find this one - but finally made it! TFTC & cheers from Germany!
It was time to get a little exercise this morning to pick up two remaing caches on this trail. A nice little 2-hour 8.16km walk.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Joined up with Yorkshirekiwi83 to re-visit the Long Bay trail and find some of the newer caches out this way. After making our way to the end of the trail, the cache was quickly found, before we returned back to the car park via the coastal route. TFTC!
On another lovely Sunday, out with Vistra to collect some caches at Long Bay, we found parking easily enough but it was still morning and the crowds hadnt gathered yet.
Hadnt been this far down the track before and after we made a quick find made the most of the tide being out and walked back to the carpark along the beach, all the beaches were busy and it was just after lunch when we got back and the car park was heaving.

After a unanimous decision by the whole team it was decided that kayaking to this cache was the best option as all the other caches along the walkway have been found. Mr Team Welsh launched the kayak at Okura and had a lovely paddle down towards Long Bay with the company of stingrays along the way. Fantastic way to get to this cache and an amazing place to paddle about. Thanks for another great cache
Does anyone know if you can paddle to here from Okura? Would save walking here for the umpteenth time. Tried to look on google maps but doesn't really show if it is at the top of a cliff or can be reached if arriving by water.
My first time to the end of this picturesque walkway. Thanks for bring me here & for the placement of all the caches along the way. will be back for the ones I missed!
There were too many mugglers hanging around potential GZ so we gave this a miss. Gives us a reason to come back again.
Sad or happy end of the trail? no more caches in this direction but such a great time finding them.
After all the rain, where to go for our Sunday walk without getting lost in neck deep mud? Decided this fitted the bill and after a quick look at the met service site, thought we could probably get away with out getting drenched. And so it was a very pleasant walk to and from the GZ with the sun out and relatively dry underfoot. Departing the carpark got a few spits of rain on the windscreen so just timed it nicely.

Rain forecast for the next couple of days so a good excuse to get out for a decent walk today. Always nice to do the Long Bay to Okura river circuit. I generally extend this by detouring via the 100 acre track. The awesome views and scenery here never fail to impress. Another favourite point for the location. TFTC.
"you can blame FMZ--he started it!" - and he's finishing it, with an FTF here. After finding out all about the muffin man, I came over to this new cache, wondering if any of the previous finders of the muffin cafe were headed this way. The car park was busy, but no cars I recognised, and I knew that if someone had come straight to this cache, they'd still be on the track. Took me just about 40 minutes to get out to GZ from the car, with aching muscles from yesterday's paintballing, and I was puffing when I got there. Had the place to myself and made the find just as the sun was setting. Very nice. {FTF} #1574 TFTC!!!
