This one was my goal for the day and it didn't disappoint! I estimated it would be a 4 mile round trip so I budgeted 2 hours for the trek. It ended up being only 3.6 miles and I did it in 1 hour 13 minutes, stopping to find two others on the way out and another on the way back. I now have a better feel for what it's like to traverse "open desert!" This find also completed a challenge cache of finding 10 caches placed in the year 2000! L - TB. TFTC!

Returned to this oldest in Arizona with my lovely caching partner Shamik after my first visit 13 years ago.

Cache is in great shape, but there are no travel bugs in it and the page says there should be four of them. Alas. Tis the way of TBs to go missing.

Found while on escape from the Great White North of the 49th.
Foun 9 of 11 today . Primary cache today was AZs oldest.
We also got a few field puzzles.

This find marked the culmination of a huge geocachIng day for us. Three finds, and three of our remaining Jasmer Grid spots filled in. We saved this one for the last. Good thing. We parked at the main gate, and commenced to walking through the (campground?), on a winding road for a few kilometres, and we finally decided with 900m to go to GZ to make a relative beeline for the cache across country. We accomplished this, making the find on this venerable hide, our oldest to date. For the return hike, we decided we could see vehicles on the highway, and set out across country from the cache toward where our vehicle should be. We believe that this was more effective, but we ended up putting quite a few thousand steps on the fitbits. Mission accomplished. A great geocaching memory.

As amAZing as the weather has been the last two days I HAD to get out of the house no matter how crowded the trails were going to be. This location is eerily quiet - I can hear my tinnitus very well. Than you for letting me share my adventure! The video will be at youtube.com/DanFindsThings soon.

Great find. Long hike, but not too hard.

26-Dec-20
Stopped to make the find with my sister and brother in law and the geokid. It's always fun to find an ammo can, and it's super special to find an oldest-in-the-state! Great day for a hike in the desert. ?? SL, TFTC!

Headed out here with my brother, unit312j, & my hubby, our muggle friend to get Geocache! We needed this one. It was a fun little hike out this way! Seems like it should be higher T, but that's minor! 11:08 AM 3296

Well, it is wonderful to get the oldest cache still kicking in Arizona, and it is wonderful to mark off another month on the grid. That was the main purpose of driving over here from the west valley with COMTG and our muggle friend. The last ravine was the only real challenge, but it was slayed and we had the oldest remaining cache, and another spot on the calendar removed. The back barely held up Smile

Greetings from kernville Ca on day 8 of a geocaching adventure with Pestrella. Today started in Payson and ended home in Kernville. The drive from Payson to Phoenix was fantastic with the sun rise and the colors of the view. It seemed like we were on a different planet. The main goal for the day was to grab the oldest in Arizona, a second oldie hidden in dec 00, one of two hidden months I have left, a series of challenge caches, and anything interesting on the way. Thanks to the COs for cache placement and maintenance. ???????????

Awarding a fav pt to honor this oldie. It was a pleasure to walk through the desert to this cache. The weather was perfect. I wouldn’t want to do this in the summer. We parked about .5 from the cache and walked a straight line to the cache. The hike was pleasant with a couple of wash crossings. Container is in good shape. Thanks again.

Since some cachers have had questions, I'll re-post this.
Update. N gate for Bulldog Canyon. N 33° 33.058 W 111° 34.895 You can order a permit from Bulldog Canyon permit at Mesa Ranger Station 5140 E. Ingram Street Mesa, AZ 85205. Phone (480) 610-3300 Fax (480) 610 3346 or online at [email protected] This gives you the codes for the gate. The road is a little bumpy but you can make it with a little ground clearance. If you walk or drive in, use N 33° 31.882 W 111° 34.429 as your take off point from the road. From there, head towards GC7GJ93 West towards 57. From there, Head towards GC480C8 Pennies From Heaven. After that GC57 is in your sights. As you approach, Take the left side of the wash. There is a small trail that leads down and back up the other side towards GZ. Carry lot's of water. Hope this helps. I have been care-taking this cache for several years and have all WP's. If you have any questions, message me. Cache-On!

Had a nice hike in from the gate. Found the cache quickly and ran into another cacher just before leaving. It was his 5,000th find. A javelina ran by and woofed at me, on my way out! What a great experience. TFTC

#5000!!!! I had to stop caching this week to save this one for #5000. I was fortunate enough run into a nice geocacher from Colorado at ground zero so I could get a picture taken to remember this milestone. Of course it gets a favorite

Came out for a day of hiking and caching with muggle friend and traveling companion, Curt, with the goal of finding GC57 before heading up to the Grand Canyon tonight for some hiking adventures tomorrow and Tuesday. As we got close I became a bit anxious, afraid my muggle friend might find it instead of me...somehow that just wouldn't be right! Fortunately I spotted its hiding place first and could claim the find for myself! ?? Did a little happy dance and sang a little happy song to celebrate then snapped a few pics for posterity! Swapped TBs. Favorite for the adventure and fun! TFTC.

This was my goal today. I've been wanting to come out here for a long time. Very happy to finally hike out to this the oldest cache in Arizona with my Geocaching buddy Kevin Ahern. Best of all is that today is my Birthday and that makes this just that more special to me. All is good with this great cache. SL TNLN TFTC

Found on: Friday, November 20, 2020 at 9:34 AM

Our destination today. More later.

Add AZ to our list where we have found the oldest in the state!

We arrived in town last night after dark and drove out to see how to get close and thinking (hoping) maybe a night find would be possible. Didn't take long to determine daylight would be best.

The gate was pad-locked and we weren't sure if it were permissible to go down the road that appeared on the map. Read all the "do-this/don't-do-that" signs and still wasn't clear. Could see a bus/RV off in the distance down the road, so obviously someone got back there. We drove back to town and found a room for the night.

Next morning at the crack of dawn, Patti was sleeping and I took off toward the gate at the road entrance. Gate was locked, so I waited about 30 minutes thinking (hoping again) someone would come along to open the gate. Put some water in the backpack bladder and began walking down the road/path/trail that would take me close to the cache GZ.

After walking about a half mile and passing several vehicles that were parked and camping, I came up on one guy that was out at his camp site and visited with him about the area and the locked gate. He explained about the requirement to get a permit and with the permit came the combination to gate lock. I didn't get a permit and therefore, likely the reason I was pretty much ignorant about the area. This guy said he wasn't supposed to give out the lock combination, but he did ... so I hiked back to gate and unlocked it. After driving through the gate, I got out to close it back.

Right about the time I closing the gate, an official looking pick-up arrived and this guy gets out and walks up to the gate lock. We said hello, and I figured I was about to get busted for not having a permit. I asked the guy if I was supposed to lock the gate back, and he said he would lock it, and he said he just appreciated me closing the gate. He said most people don't even close them. He didn't ask me if I had a permit, soooooo ... I got in the vehicle and drove slowly away.

I went down the road watching to see how close I would get to the cache. After reaching the high lines, I turned around until I reached a point about 0.6 miles from GZ. Marked a waypoint for my parking location, grabbed the backpack with water, and took off.

Along the way, I evidently scared up numerous doves, just before they scared me when taking flight. A field mouse was running ahead of me at one point. I managed to dodge all the prickly plants and reminded myself often that a slip and fall on all these loose rocks out here would likely be more painful than just the fall might bring.

About 100 ft from GZ, my phone rings. Patti is up and ready to go ... but no hurry! Yeah, right. I explain my progress and estimated time I might return, assuming I found the vehicle without any difficulty.

I found the cache easy enough - coords were spot on! After SL and replacing all as found, I plotted a course to Pennies from Heaven cache.

Pulled up my parking waypoint and headed toward my vehicle. After 10-20 minutes of hiking, I was kind of thrilled when I saw the vehicle off in the distance.

Drove slowly back toward the gate, and found the gate wide open.

Great way to start a day of geocaching.

Thank you TEAM SNAKEBUSTERS for placing and maintaining this cache and helping us make some memories! ??

Yes! This is a huge milestone for me. I just finished my third lap around the Jasmer grid!!! Oh yeah!

I can’t do it a fourth time, the maximum, unless I travel to Europe and find the only remaining September 2000 geocache that I don’t have. In the meantime, and before I take that trip, I need to push on here in the USA and get my fourth finds for all the other months. But that’s the future. Today I’m celebrating my third Jasmer.

There is an asterisk however. I may not have three caches placed in October 2020. That’s the thing about the Jasmer; you have to constantly feed it in the present day or else you’ll fall out of qualification.

In town for a baseball tournament and finding the oldest cache in each state we travel in has become a thing. Did some research and then exchanged a couple of very nice emails with Blond Frog to make sure I had what I needed, wasn't forgetting anything, and that I would not need to rent a four wheel drive. All checked out, although Kremser was less than pleased that we drove her Clean Lincoln MKX to where we ended up parking. This trail is doable in a higher clearance vehicle. So it is possible that I could have drove closer, but I found a spot .57 from GZ and parked there. Snapped a waypoint of where I parked because all of this landscape looks the same, and then we headed off towards GZ. While I was seriously hoping to see a Large Western Diamondback or a Gila Monster, I did not. However I did see a Western Whiptail, a Clark's Spiny and a Chipmunk. Plus I also saw a partial snake molt on a bush. So all was not lost on my wildlife search. We weaved our way through the landscape and finally made our way to GZ. While the coords aren't perfect, it doesn't matter as GZ is abundantly clear. Looked for ANY of the travel bugs that are logged into this cache but found NONE! Punched in the waypoint for the car and started heading back. I thought I would check to see if there were any caches on the way back and when I did I saw that Pennies from Heaven was only 350' from where I was, so picked that up also. Glad to check off another oldie and I thoroughly enjoyed the hunt. Thanks for the destination!

Out with TRU on this perfect day to be walking through the desert. (Insert sarcasm here) I was not very happy to see what he had chosen as a "road" to get us here but he did get us here without a hitch. So that was a win, plus I get a free car wash! Thanks for keeping this alive!

We flew a long way today and finding this cache was priority #1 on the agenda today. We had perfect weather for the trip out here and I am proud to say that #18 state oldest cache is now in the books. tftc

The Mesa Ranger Office is no longer issuing Bulldog Canyon permits, you must go online to recreation.gov, pay a $6 administration fee and then print out your 6-month permit... it was really very easy. With our permit in hand, we opened the gate (watch out, it's heavy) and headed in knowing we wouldn't get too far with our rental Chevy Equinox. Anytime we're visiting Phoenix we try to make the pilgrimage to Geocache, we just absolutely love Bulldog Canyon. Since we've been here a number of times we knew exactly which cactus to head for, cleaned up the cache and added new ziplocs, unfortunately no TBs were inside. Thanks again Dan for keeping this historic cache alive, much appreciated!

This one has been on my list and finally made it to my destination today. I got a little startled but can say that Rommel likes the location and is living his best life there. Went into a little hole between some rocks and roots and came back after everything was returned to its place. Hiked in from the Bulldog north gate. A little hot but the scenery was still good. Cache is in good condition. TFTH.

Sakiman and I are on a road trip from Long Island, New York. We flew into Denver and stayed in Colorado Springs to visit my brother and his family before hitting the road . Today's goal was finding this one! Sakiman try to find the state's oldest geocaches and are up to about 37 of them including this one and Open Space 7 which we found the day before. We stopped for a number of cool caches along our way! Found the cache easily and took a bunch of pics to mark the find. We signed in and as Sakiman was returning the cache he jumped because the cache at a Guardian, a desert rat scampered out of sight in the spot where we removed the cache and returned it as found. Just love finding these ammocans! Thanks for the cache!

BTW - the temps reached 103 this day! then when we got up the next morning, the temperature read 29 degrees! What a difference!

7 of 12 today with mmacgown. This was our main reason we took this trek into the desert. As others have mentioned -- bring plenty of water and cover up as best as possible. Some ups and downs along the way and lots of spiny plants to avoid. We made it here unscathed. Easy find and some welcome "shade" was provided as we looked through the cache and took some pictures. Thanks for keeping this old one alive and Thanks for the walk in the desert. SLTNLN. TFTC!! TFTH!! *Favortie point added*

Forgot to mention -- when I went to replace the ammo can, I moved a rock that had been under it (so the can could go a little deeper). My wife said I screamed like a girl (I say I screamed but, can't get up as high as a girl Red Face). The scream was caused by a desert rat (I have since named it Rommel) that was hunkered down under that rock. It scooted off but, came back to see if it could get back to its niche. Don't know if it is trying to establish residence there but, be aware it might be there when you are moving rocks.

Amazing hike in the Arizona landscape and perfect old cache!! After landing in PHX from Florida, I made my way to this cache with a short detour for Senda de Tonto. I arrived at the trailhead, used the gate code obtained during my planning, and drove the georentalGMC to a perpendicular point. I made my way through the landscape weaving around the cacti and thorny bushes. At one point, I heard those famous rattling Arizona bushes.......but kept walking and avoided any problematic issues. Those ARE bushes rattling, right?? Smile No issues making the find at GZ and I snapped plenty of photos along the way. The way out was pleasantly uneventful, no rattling plants this time, and no flat tires getting out. Now to head south to the CAA and webcam in Tuscon!! Many thanks for keeping this old one alive!!!

Happy Belated Birthday to you GC57!!!

Day 6

***Crowesfeat30*** and I are off to cache, 12 days traveling 4500 miles through 10 states. We cached in our 48th state, found 5 state's oldest caches (Ok, NM, Az, Ca, & Ut, and visited Mingo). We got our double Jasmer in Utah, and found many highly favorited caches. We saw the petrified Forest and Barringer Crater, and we were Standing on a Corner in Winslow, Arizona. And we went swimming in the Pacific ocean. It was a fantastic trip!

Got Arizona's Oldest cache today and the Tucson Webcam. It is hot here but we are doing ok.

What a great time doing this. It was 94 when we left the car. We took plenty of water and sprayed sunscreen on us. We followed the road south then cut over near THIRTY ONE. After that we followed the dry creek or road, whichever that was until we were close to this cache. A short walk over and we found it! What a walk. We opened the cache, signed the book and looked through the old signatures. And drank a lot of water. We took a bunch of pictures too. Finally we put it all away and retraced our steps back to THIRTY ONE, and from there found a trail that parelleled the other road and led us to the highway a couple hundred feet west of the parking lot. It was 114 degrees by the car's thermometer when we got back. I actually felt pretty good. 3.6 miles by my GPS for our walk. Thank you TEAM SNAKEBUSTERS,

So happy to have this one logged off. There are a lot of great caches in the area. Hot as heck and brought a lot of water for even a short hike but I made it!!!

Tried to enter by parking off of Bush Highway to hike south to the cache site. The entrance was blocked due to fire danger so shellyinaz and I weren’t able to find this one today. Someday soon hopefully!

Wow. What a memorable experience. Arm is bloody, pulled a cactus out of my leg, but got the cache! Pic of me below with the oldest in AZ! Favorite point! SL. TFTC!

Late logging of caches found while on wonderful journey through the southwest with 'the pointer'. Enjoyed the hike to the cache and seeing all the cactus. We saw several jackrabbits and javelinas. Happy to see my friends signature on the log. Thanks for the great cache and the oldest in Arizona. Appreciate it. Giving a favorite point.

This was the 2nd attempt at finding this one. The first time we tried to access from the ORV road. We ran into some jumping Chollas and had to turnaround.
Park on the big highway by the bridge and use the water/river wash trails to access.
Wear boots! It’s rough out there!

Today marked the 20th year anniversary of geocaching when it was announced to a newsgroup as the Great American GPS stash hunt. Simple rules when you find the container: if you take an item, leave an item, and write in the logbook.

To celebrate, Jodi and I went on a mini-adventure to find GC57, one of the first 75 caches I hand entered into the database for Geocaching.com, which later launched in September 2, 2000.

We actually attempted to find it a week prior but not being Arizona natives we were underprepared for hiking in the desert. Look up “jumping cholla” on YouTube to see what I mean.

Wearing less-than-broken-in desert boots and long pants, we returned to Tonto National Forest later and hotter than planned, armed with a milk jug of water and a plan of attack: follow the dried out riverbed to get close enough to the cache, avoid jumping chollas, and bring tweezers and a comb if one attacks.

Fortunately we only saw two chollas that threatened our progress but were easily respected and avoided. Jodi was a trooper managing blisters from new boots and walking basically 4 miles in sand. Finally, after gingerly walking along a small hill ridge for 500 feet we spotted a tree and the usual sign of a geocache - a pile of rocks at the base. And my favorite cache too - the traditional ammo can.

There is something magical about opening a log book with dates going back almost 2 decades, the container living in one space for so long. It makes me really appreciate how many lives have been touched over a silly hide and seek game.

Thanks for playing. ??

Find #1550. TFTC! Find #17 of caches hidden in 2000. A little bit of a hike from Bush Highway, but once I got here the cache was easy to find and in good condition, saw no snakes.

Woo hoo! Got it. Thanks for keeping it in play all these years.

Very cool! Parked off of Bush highway and hiked to the cache. A lot farther than I thought. Long hike off the beaten path but worth it! Bring lots of water!

15 of 25 today, found @ 3:01pm.
My goal for the day. I'm amazed that this cache is nearly 20 years old and that the CO lugged it all the way out here.
GZ looks like a little shrine.
Since the CO hasn't been active since 2012 - thanks to all those that have kept this one going.

We are driving from Flagstaff to Tucson, caching along the way. We noticed that there were two 2000-vintage geocaches pretty close together, so we knew we had to look for them. Due to all the 4 wheelers speeding along the dirt road to the cache, we decided to hike to the cache rather than drive our SUV part of the way. We stayed on the road until we were abeam the cache, so it was a 4.1 mile hike in 1 hour and 20 minutes. We passed a rattlesnake on the road, so we exercised social distancing and kept our eyes peeled the remainder of the hike. We were happy to arrive at the cache and add our names to the log. We now have found 14 of the states oldest caches. Thanks for placing and maintaining this classic cache.

Thanks for the cache. This completes my Jasmer. What a walk from the Bush Avenue gates. My little car would never have made this offroad. Going through the desert fauna was very cool. Saw a woodpecker. Many thanks to my beautiful wife for allowing me the two hours to walk to this one and the many, many hours to complete the Jasmer.

14-Mar-20
I couldn’t pass up and old cache like this one. It was more of a hike than I expected! It took me 1:04 to walk the 3.3 miles from the time I jumped over the gate onto the road to making it back to my car. I took the road for a good part of the way out then bushwhacked when I was as close as the road was going to get me to the cache. I thought that due to the ruggedness of the terrain and the high number of cacti to dodge, this would be faster than bushwhacking straight there.
After finding the cache I decided to just bushwhack straight(ish) back towards the car and forgo the road entirely which ended up being quicker despite the terrain and cacti dodging. It wasn’t bad as long as you pay really close attention to where your feet and legs are in relation to all the many spiny things out there.

Also, this is one of the least likely to ever get muggles caches I have found this trip. I'm impressed the CO lugged this thing all the way out here.

Thanks for the old cache and bringing me out into the beautiful desert.

I read about the Raven caches in Prescott (especially the amazing Indiana Jones ones) in a book called “201 geocaches to find before you die” They sounded great and I love Indiana Jones, so I flew out here from MD primarily to find the Raven caches and of course get some others (like this one) on the trip around AZ. The caches have not disappointed! Thanks for all the great caches!

Stopped off to get some TBs...wanted the ninja turtle. That gives me all four ??. Just wanted to try to get them all at once, that was tough. Lots of traveling. Also get some other caches on the hike back to the gate Smile

We're just along for the ride today, as we found this cache a while back... in 2002, to be exact.Surprised Today we're just playing chauffer/tour guide for Tazdoodle, our Canadian caching friends. We're helping them fill in a couple of Jasmer squares. Good ol' GC57 admirably fills the bill for September 2000.

Ideal day to be out here. Enjoyed the hike, enjoyed the views, enjoyed the company. Thanks to Dan Rich and Team Snakebusters for placing this classic, and thanks to Dr. D. for looking after it these days.

Hello from Nanaimo, British Columbia, located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, on the west coast of Canada. Retirement has arrived and we are enjoying six weeks down in lovely Scottsdale. The weather is cooperating nicely; so great to be away from our rainy we(s)t coast!

This was a fabulous adventure today, but in order to really tell you about it, I need to go back to Feb 19th when we were doing the MLB series and jumped over to GC1QHBB, Just Another Lame Suburban Ammo Can cache. The COs, Team Tierra Buena ("TTB"), ended up contacting us and told us they had visited our home town, Nanaimo. Well, emails started flying back and forth and before we knew it, my hubby and I were crashing TTB's geo-date!

I had mentioned in one of my emails that I would love to get GCED, and even though they had found that one already, TTB was not only willing to accommodate us, they suggested we add GC57 Geocache to the list, which they had also already found.

TTB picked us up at our Air bnb in their cachemobile this morning and we headed out to the desert! We love desert caching! So many things to see (and not touch!).

After finding GCED, we headed back in the cachemobile and fought with the GPS which kept telling us that the road was closed ahead. We persevered and it turned out that the GPS was right but it was talking about the gate to the park. TTB had the park pass and the gate code so in we went! Whoa, that's some crazy road, buckle up and hang on! We parked and headed in to find the cache, which we did without issue. Signed, dropped off three TBs and retrieved one, and returned as found.

Thank you, TEAM SNAKEBUSTERS, for placing and maintaining this oldie! So great knocking off 2000-9 from our Jasmer. A FAV for sure! And thank you Team Tierra Buena for an awesome day!

Mrs. TiE and I were in town this week to catch the Raptors/Suns game as well as do some hiking. When we saw the oldest in AZ was nearby, we made plans today to check it out. We decided to hike in and back today and had a nice hike while caching all the way to this one with only 1 DNF. As we approached GZ, the cache was quickly spotted and we signed in after trading some trackables and taking some photos. This turned out to be a nice lunch spot before continuing on to complete the caching loop. We ended up hiking about 10km today and spent about 5 hours romping through the desert. Great fun. Thanks for keeping this one going DR.D. and for the permit tips. Gets a fav from us!

After happily bushwhacking our way around the cholla and the saguaro, we finally made it here. YAY! Another one off my Jasmer list, and a great walk out here too. Tftc!

Caching with my Seattle friend Annie Organ on an adventure in Phoenix. Logs were signed with names or initials.

Today’s main goal was finding the oldest cache in Arizona. After driving down the dirt road we left the car at the suggested spot and bushwhacked across the desert, using the other caches as breadcrumbs to mark our way. I love finding old caches! Thanks Dan Rich for contributing to our fun and maintaining this cache through the years!

Whoo-hoo! The oldest cache in Arizona! It's always great to get an oldie, which was our goal as Melodious Musicians and I crossed some of this gorgeous desert this morning. We had a rented SUV, and parked it near the Looking North cache, then breadcrumbed our way west via What Shall I Name It, West Towards 57, and Pennies from Heaven. With lots of mountains in the view to supplement our iPhone navigation (we both use the excellent caching app Looking4Cache) we had no trouble locating the prize. Glad to have my trekking poles, what with all the ups and downs...and also to move rocks around before putting hands down ????. Walking through the desert was a delight. This is certainly a Favorite Point experience; thanks for keeping this oldie safe and active, Dan!

I love the desert and I swear these are the biggest cactus of the entire weekend. Thanks for keeping this old one alive and bringing me out to this pretty area I would have never been otherwise

The oldest Arizona geocache had been on my radar for several years and finally today is the day to go for it. Lady Viper kindly agreed to accompany me on the hike to it. I did notice the permit requirement for vehicles so got my permit on Friday and today we came to this beautiful canyon. TFTC

It was great to visit this oldie again with a good friend... 11 years ago I signed this one with my late husband and my sister & her husband.

Cache-On!

Wow! I'm so delighted to log this one as a find. We made an attempt this direction yesterday but gave up to dying light and tired legs after a tough hike earlier in the day. I was uncertain as to feasibility of getting it during this trip, but thanks to my supportive muggle love (@annkd86), I made a second attempt today. What an honor! Thanks for maintaining this one for all these years for us to find and enjoy! Clearly, it deserves a favorite point from me.

YIPPEE!!! What an awesome cache to add to our oldies list. We parked about a half mile down the road from the "starting point," as we were afraid our Prius wasn't going to make it much farther - we were lucky it made it as far as it did. Wish we'd had our FJ with us instead. We loved the walk in the desert. I (the missus) grew up in Phoenix and love the desert, so we really enjoyed all the saguaros, though not so much the cholla, which got us a couple of times! The views were spectacular, weather perfect, about 80 degrees this afternoon, and an occasional pleasant breeze. Thanks for keeping this one going for nearly 20 years!! Should be a great celebration here later this year. Thanks y'all from Temple, Texas.

Visiting from WI with some muggles. They are allowing me to cache today--one is even making the trek with me. Made it to the intended target. Beautiful day. TFTC. Nice to see these old ones still going.

This was the geocaching goal for the trip. Thanks for this great old one Dan Rich! Left a TB and a pathtag.

I made the find here with mnbeekeeper while in Phoenix for the week. This cache has been on my list for a long time! I obtained a permit to enter the gate ahead of time, but like another log says, it may have been quicker to walk in. We were not supposed to take the rental car "off - roading" so I will call this a road, but a low maintenance one at that! There were a few times I was concerned that the Chevy Cruze wasn't going to make it, but it didn't let us down. We got to GZ right at sunset, which gave some great views of the area! Thanks for keeping this one going.

I made the find here with tbruihler while on a short trip to Arizona. He sent all answers for earthcaches and virtuals. TFTC!

Flew down here from Michigan with Team Geochef, KzooOtters, and RXWranglers for The Yuma event. Turned the grocery getter into the rental company to get a jeep. So we can hunt down all these old GC numbers. Very cool to find these old caches. Glad everyone puts these out for us to find. TFTC

Down from Michigan with Team Geochef, RockWrangler and KzooOtters attending the Yuma MEGA event. Today we are going after the caches placed in 2000 and others that are in our route. We upgraded our rental to a Jeep and after stopping at the Ranger station and getting the permit we headed this way. Thanks for keeping this one around for all to enjoy. Thanks for the smiley.

Visiting from Wisconsin and on the last full day of my Yuma mega adventure. This oldie was my main mission for the day. I’d never cached solo in the desert, so I was nervous. I’d done my homework, though, obtained my permit on-line, brought my water and GPS and extra batteries and was ready (gulp!) to brave the wilderness. The drive in was challenging for my rental sedan...I think I could have walked faster than I drove...but I made it to suggested coordinates and headed for this cache. I was expecting trails, but ended up just walking as direct a route as possible through the scrub brush and cactii, stopping for two caches along the way. I was thrilled to make it to GZ and lingered to savor the views and geocaching experience. Then I started my journey back, only to meet a group of Michigan cachers who were considerably faster than me. Thanks for the adventure...and for keeping this oldie alive and well. Favorite.

Yahoo! Arizona's oldest cache!!! Fun highlight of our trip.

Day 9 of our Yuma Mega Adventure. TEAM GEOCHEF and I flew from Michigan to Phoenix on Wednesday. Our route too us caching our way around the state from Tombstone, Tucson, Winslow, and Flagstaff. Saturday we picked up RxWranglers and headed to Yuma the Mega, and Mexico. We then grabbed some of the area power trails. Our rental van took a crap so we had to come into Phoenix a day early to exchange it. Because of this we adjusted our plan and came after the caches placed in 2000. We grabbed the ones to the east and south. We had great weather and an incredible hike to Diablo Points Cahce. I'm sure the 4 of us will sleep well tonight! Tomorrow we take on T824 Table Mesa. Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches for all to find. TFTC

Spending the day with RxWranglers and KzooOtters grabbing a few oldies and anything else along the way. Thanks for placing caches for everyone to enjoy. This was on the list of must do caches when the plan to come to Arizona was hatched month's ago.

We are down from Bend Oregon for the Yuma MEGA event. Looking forward to a new caching adventure.

First we gave this Geocache favorite point. What a great walk out here on this stunningly beautiful blue sky day with just a few puffy white clouds?

Thanks to all the cachers that have taken time to keep the game going.

Today Thoby and I went to Bulldog Canyon to find the oldest cache in AZ. The weather was awesome and after a day of driving we enjoyed the hike from the road.
Thanks for the caches we found today.

This was the reason we ventured into this area today. We were surprised that there weren't more well worn trails, but I guess the desert recovers and covers the footprints. It is amazing to see and today was pretty amazing after the rains yesterday. Thanks for the cache which added to our adventures today. We spent all day in the cactus and scrub finding and logging caches. We are so grateful for every hide that we find! TFTC.

On the way home from a nine day road trip from St. Louis to Yuma and back with C3GPS, SWASeeker and K-Team. Had a good time on the 4900 mile trip finding over 1100 caches. But also had drama by getting stuck in the mud in a desolate part of NM for twelve hours (sleeping in the freezing car overnight) and sitting on a cactus in Arizona. Thanks for placing and maintaining the caches.
