Ill be totally honest, this one stumped me and I had no idea what was happening. I found the big V, but that was it. After reading the hint and having some dumb luck, I managed to stumble across it.Didnt have a pen on me, so heres a photo of some friends
Did some bush bashing, also had a spill with my bike, attacked by spiders. Maybe next time. Thanks for the adventure anyway.
I've seen this one on the map for ages and just never seemed to get to it. With an errand that turned into a wild goose chase in Ringwood this morning, I took a slightly longer way home via a couple of caches. With the help of Mister Doctor's description and a bit of educated guesswork, I identified a likely GZ and soon had the container in hand. The lid was stiff, but a good yank had it open. All contents in good dry condition. TFTC LSJExplore
My first letterbox find. Not too much trouble to locate after doing a bit of research on past logs before arriving here and following the updated description. The cache took a bit of prying to get open. Took a TB. Thanks for adopting and maintaining this cache Lukie1987.
Prior to travelling up here I took a look at this cache and prepared myself for a possible extensive and time consuming hunt.
After having read many of the logs and looking at the available pics I combine Mister Doctor's entry along with a pic to produce a very fast find.
A bit of a relief as all the other letterboxes seem much more involved and I needed one for the about to expire challenge.
Love finding an ammo can!

After spending far too much time searching on the wrong side and making a local friend, I managed to pry open this elusive cache. Coords had me for a loop. TFTC, dropped off tb.
Got the angles right. Distance not so good so follow the lead of Sonya and used the pictures. Tftc tnln.
Needed a letterbox for this months wheel of challenge and decided on this one. Made my way there and found Big V. From there was able to predict where projection may have landed. Cache located in good order and log signed. TFT
I parked nearby and wandered down to The trail made a little protection and made my way to GZ. Had to wait a while and do a bit of “bird watching” and pretending to take photos before I was able to sign the log Thanks jacimarble, Lukie1987 and LSJExplore for placing the cache and keeping it in play
Adding this find in our quest for S Dozen Firsts Challenge. We admittedly found the cache by deductive methods and the hint was a great help. Love walking along the Mullum Mullum Creek Trail. TFTC Jacimarble
Found it, though, have to admit to cheating slightly by looking at pics from prev logs. Always nice to find an ammo can! Though this one was very stubborn to open! Tftc ^_^
I found your cache and signed the log LSJExplore. Thank you so much for placing it.
Thanks for the letterbox hybrid, I wasn't able to solve a bit there, however, the photos help. TFTC.
With the changes wrought by time and nature the instructions have become a little hard to follow. But there is plenty of other information available to work out where this cache is. It only took a little wandering.
Work arranged itself rather nicely this week giving me a period of six days off. I spent a bit of time working out which direction i wanted to head for caching fun and decided to have another go at Melbourne and the surrounding suburbs. I then took quite a while coming up with a list of caches to target, there are just so many possibilities! I packed, had accommodation sorted, and even had a muggle caching buddy lined up to do the driving. Perfect! Too perfect... . Plans changed at the last minute and i came down to the city solo and without the accommodation option. I wasnt sure if i would keep the rest of the plan or head for the hills instead.
Well i have been here two days so far and im still here. Caching the peninsula has been fun interspersed with visits to various beaches. i have decided to persist with the plan and stay down this way for as long as i can.

In Melbs yet a again heading in what I call the back way via the Midland to SE burbs. Time has taken its toll here, but I'd also been here earlier this year and ran out of time, so with some creative thinking finally came up with something sensible and probable. A tad late logging but in the srea and see it was sitting in drafts.TFTC and the FUN - memorable!
Did not understand what to do here to be honest. After I just blindly started looking for the cache based on previous logs and the hint I did find it. Upon arriving at the cache I do think I see which V I was looking for, but it's not visible from the posted coordinates? So I'm not sure how that's supposed to work. Unless I'm just completely misunderstanding glad I found it anyway, cache was still in good condition. Tftc!
Having no idea which of the Vs I was after, I decided instead to brute force the puzzle.
Having glanced the clue, and a previous photo, I concluded there would be only a handful of appropriate spots.
In the end, I would up finding it, and upon reflection of which V I needed, I can see which was the right one. Might need a bit of a tagging or marking going forward of the correct V.

A last moment visit to town and decided to head to the event so in keeping with the 2 theme the 2 nearby letter boxes were targeted on the way. The hint tols us which V and we lined it up to soon find the ammo can. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
I attempted this a couple of days ago, but I am not great at coordinate projection and made quite a mess of the coordinates. I worked on it at home and came up with some numbers, which I put to the test today. They worked well enough for me to find the cache. I love these nice big strong military cache containers.
Wasn’t too far away working on the Hillcrest Hike caches when the rain started to pick up.
I figured I would call it an early day when I the rain then stopped suddenly. Well that means so more caching lol
I started to look at caches that were near by when I saw this one and I needed a letterbox for my Days of the Week Challenge.
Initially though I had found the Big V, but wasn’t until I was kinda close to GZ before I realised what the actually Big V was. So I recalculated what GZ was and started searching.
The plant coverage made this one a bit tough but luckily it wasn’t too much searching until the cache was in hand.
All the moisture made the cache hard to open, but the cache was still in great shape and the logbook was nice and dry. TFTC

We headed back home through Melbourne and decided to find some cache in LGAs where we hadn't found caches before. We are also working on getting a few more Letterbox caches, which fits the bill beautifully. It was a glorious spring day, and being out in some bushland was a treat. We made our way to the coordinates, dodging a few tree branches we suspect came down in Thursday night's storm. We arrived and attempted to make the projection, but there was no obvious big V, so we took a look at the hint and, using a couple of the photos, made an educated guess and were soon holding an ammo can in our hands. We signed the log and carefully replaced the ammo can. The cache was in excellent condition, and we took a photo of a nearby wild beehive. Thank you for this cache jacimarble and for adopting it Lukie1987.

It's wonderful to share a Sunday roast with the olds.
After cooking up a storm and enjoying the tasty results, it's also good to get out on my lonesome and do a bit of Geocaching.
By the time I finally got out the door and through the freeway traffic jam, the sun had just set. So here I am, again, in the dark.
I helped deliver some Heatherdale mail, then took the longer way back to the car for a couple more smileys.
Still up for a bit more adventure, I cast about for another letterbox. Taking the option of parking further down the creek, so I could make this a loop walk, I found the Big V, and scoped out a candidate.
And there it was: the fine vision of an ammo can in almost pristine condition.
Thanks, Jacimarble.

I drove Aquilus1 around Victoria, it was a great trip and some great sights were seen. It was actually very relaxing not being involved in where/what we were collecting....I should do it again sometime. Thanks for making me come, it cheered me up no end.
Sorry for the generic log.... all answers (if any) sent by Aquilus1

During dinner last night, my companions (one half of) beckNmonts and ahomburg took great pity on my D/T grid, very disappointed in its empty squares at the big number corner, and proceeded to compile a list of caches to bring it back to good health! So today I had the privilege of ahomburg to chauffer me around the Eastern Suburbs to find some exceptional caches.
Fortunately Mr Homburg had already found this cache many years earlier so knew what was required as far as the Vs go as the vegetation has grown significantly since setting up this cache. But the cache was still in good condition, albeit the lid a little tight, but the logbook now has my stamp in it and we were back on our way. Thx Jacimarble and Lukie1987

In the light rain we made our way to this cache. Took a little looking to line it up but soon enough found the great container not expected so close to a residential area.
Trip log: I have had a trip in mind for a while now, a 'Victoria loop' which would see a number of counties travelled through but also visit the last active Web Cam left for me in Australia and a 2000 cache which would see my Ausmer complete! A trip would not be complete without some company so a little convincing and a suitable friend was talked into coming along... and for good measure they would drive and keep me from getting myself into too much trouble while at it!
Counties featured high on my list, but each one filled with quality... oldies, larges, and types that where sought. As is the way the list led to a varied and interesting trip with some very amazing locations discovered along the way.
Day one saw a lot of distance travelled but just four caches found for the day, all quality and after a trip up Mt Buller late in the day we settled into the finest lodgings Mansfield had left.
Day two started well and the highlight among many was GC7A with my Ausmer complete but a great cache location and the gate installed for easy access was a hit. Our journey took us onto a number of locations and through the eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It was here with the light drizzle that settled into solid rain that I was thankful of my driver who calmly followed my directions despite the conditions as I juggled caches on my list to replace the walks the rain and the 13 degrees weather had made too uncomfortable. Ending the day cold and wet in Dandenong the accommodation made up for the previous nights and the local pizza sure did hit the spot.
Day three saw a return to lovely weather with us driving the guard rail hwy... endless guardrails on all roads. Frankie the Gnome wasn't on the list but too hard to miss as we passed! Down to Mornington Peninsula and through some interesting locations towards Lakes entrance and stopped in Bairnsdale overnight.
Day four and after a little local caching around the 'lakes' area on another lovely day, it was the long haul up towards Eden. The 2020 fires devastation was enormous as we drove through the endless winding road with all the fluffy looking regrowth. Crazy to think back to that time and see how nuts it all was. Another full day but made it safe and sound back home again.
Many thanks to all the CO's for your caches that led us on an enjoyable journey through some interesting locations with great places visited along the way..

TFTC Great spot! Finally it's sunny and now a nice day! Dropped off a trackable to leave it for it next journey!
Having spent the morning walking around Ringwood Lake and surrounding parks we decided to finish with this one as it was starting to get a bit hot. We couldn’t find a big V or a little v, but using the starting coordinates we were able to work out which tree was likely. A great container that took us a little while to open. I had to use my car keys to pry the lid open and I must’ve left them at the cache because when we returned to the car we had no keys so we had to go back and collect them. Fortunately we had parked not too far away. We added the stamp to our letterbox book.

Ahh lockdown, Sigh... When will is end!! Am now almost out of caches to log. Good thing this one was active, so big thanks.
Did the work and with some logic found the cache after a couple of minutes. Do like these style of caches. Also a nice container too. So with the mark placed it was try to continue the daily permitted exercise. I wonder what chairman Dan will announce this Sunday? Nice area too. Cheers.

Best to read previous logs to get a good idea of which tree is the big V. The rest can be eyeballed from there.
This cache is just inside our 5km zone. Running out of finds fast.

Couldn’t work out the clues.... we’ll be back as this is the only isolation cache we have left within walking distance!
My first mailbox find!!! Got a little stuck, but with help of hubby, we got there. Clue definitely helps!!
Found the cache without too much difficulty after reading in the description that the small V was gone.
The hint helped a bit as well.
Thanks for the cache.

Logic and geosense. Up visiting from Queensland and targeted a few as I’ve driven up from Mentone. A nice idea for a cache. Fumbled around for about 5 mins.

I do like a letterbox cache to add to my collection of stamps. I wasn't sure if I would be able to figure this one out but decided to try anyway. I couldn't get a good sightline as everything has grown but managed to get it close enough to find GZ. The container was quite stiff to open but I now have a shiny new stamp in my book and another smiley on the map. This was a very enjoyable cache!
I think in the long run we wandered around, trying out different theories until we finally gave up and tried one last place, declaring that if this was not it, we were going home with a sad face... Still, I'm the end we found the cache and added our names to the long list of previous finders!
A lazy Sunday morning and we decided to get some steps doing a little caching. Got to the allocated GZ but had issues finding the correct big V. Eventually got to the hide after a bit of trial and error. It was actually rather simple in the end. TFTC Jacimarble ( Adopted by Lukie1987 )
We went on a V hunt. We found big v and little v but they where all the wrong V's. We used our geosenses and some more reading of past logs, much discussion and then we found our prize. Thanks for a fun adventure Jacimarble ( Adopted by Lukie1987 )
Joined day1976 and Yeah09 on their quest to find 10 cache types in one day. Careful reading of the previous logs helped here. And yes, it is easy to overthink this one

Our group met here, on the way to go camping in Mt Disappointment. My muggle partner and my sister got here fist, and were puzzling this one out when the rest of the group arrived. Better off going back to the bridge and looking from there, as all the trees have grown. We found it easily after that.
After picking up Geolibrarian54, Yeah 09 and I met up with Ilukaperi at this cache to begin a hunt. Using a little imagination we found the cache right where we expected. TFTC.
My first post box cache. Took me awhile to figure out where to start but the clue helped. Cache was not covered up, so added a bit more covering.
Well that was a bit tricky. Using previous logs we changed our thinking and geomum figured it out and found it.
I caught up with SaguineDragonflye for a spot of caching today. A slightly trickier one given that one of the 'v's has apparently disappeared, but we managed to do a bit of detective work and found the cache fairly easily afterwards. Thanks for the cache container - always enjoy finding these ones. Cheers!
Found this today after reading previous logs and using the hint.
Like others, I'm surprised the container is still there. Left it covered a bit more thoroughly than when I found it. tftc.

3rd find for the day. After a nice walk along the river, I arrived at GZ. Originally I was confused as to what the 'big v' was, but after reading through past logs, it became obvious and the cache was soon in hand. Nice spot. Fave point from me. All in good condition. TFTC
Good one! Had the wrong idea about the fence line at first but got there in the end! Brilliant spot and cache
Quick find today - the big v was easy to find and not too hard to line up with a target. Thanks
Had a few hours this morning to myself before the day got started. This is a very beautiful area and it was a joy to be here, and to wonder over this puzzle! It took me a while to figure out what to do (and where the big V was), but once everything was clear it was a quick find in a fave container. TFTC!
Hadn’t expected to find this one, as it sounded like conditions had changed quite a bit since the original listing. As I’d had a DNF at the nearby puzzle cache I thought I might as well give this one a go.
Thanks to jaktembo’s hint update I soon made the find. I would also add, that if you walk towards the bridge from the fence corner, the big dead V is on your right as you emerge from the undergrowth.
I always find this type of classic container exciting to find! Nice and dry inside. Forgot my autograph book to collect a stamp, so took a page from the back of the logbook (sorry, but thanks).
TFTC Lukie1987. Only my second Letterbox find, good fun!

Kinda over thunk this one lol. If you go to the corner of the fence you need to head back to the bridge. The tree density has increased so much the big v little v doesn't really apply. When you see the v...it is a clear dead V... go from there.
Out for a walk with ICW we decided to look for the Vs. Following the supplementary instructions I stood at the fence corner and I couldn't see the big V because of the dense tree canopies. ICW imagined the projectile's trajectory and brought us to the correct tree. Tftc.
On the way to the cache we saw a young Darter (http://www.birdsinbackyards.net/species/Anhinga-novaehollandiae) in the creek. Two Magpies and a group of Noisy Miners drove it away -- very unneighbourly.

I felt like I was going to explode after a big Christmas feast, when my brother and his girlfriend suggested walking the dog. So I brought us here - then I can grab a cache as well!
I'd been here a couple of times early on when I began caching, but couldn't understand the simple instructions. Back again with some more experience and a hint (thanks BendSinister!) - but my brother figured it out all on his own and we soon found it. Glad to have finally turned this into a smiley.
Thanks!

Worked hard for this cache!! Wonderful patch of pretty in suburbia. Thanks for this cache
Rookie error On first letterbox cache. Turns out it's not an actual letterbox. Face palm. Despite this found anyway.
Great hide. Took me a little while to figure out which v to use. Only found it after I went to check something else. Then I struggled to open the box. Thanks for the hide
A day off in the bright sunshine so what better way to enjoy it than going for a drive to find some caches. I targeted a couple of specific hides to fill a gap in my months hidden grid and then tried to pick some of the more heavily favourited caches around seeing as though it's an area I rarely visit.
A different way of projecting your waypoint for this cache was interesting. I misidentified the big V initially so my search targets came up with nothing. It was only as I was heading back to WP1 that I noticed a much more obvious candidate for the big V with a few potential hiding spots. As luck would have it, it was the last one I checked. The cache was fairly uncovered so I've tried to conceal it a bit more effectively. Thanks for the cache, an interesting experience.

I was on the way back from a day at the Alexendra Mega and I had an opportunity to add to the list of cache types that I had found in one day. This was the letterbox. A quick find. TNLN. TFTC.
My first letterbox, I have been meaning to get this one for a while and thought I would give it a try after finding a nearby traditional cache quickly. Straight forward clue after correctly identifying the big V. TFTC
Here with quiet1_au today. We'd come here before, and given up.... and again, we struggled with the instructions. After extending our search area, we finally found this cache! TFTC
Needing lots of Letterbox (and CITO) caches to try to fulfill a recently published challenge cache, I was keen to grab this one today while out with lochb. Completely forgetting that we had previously tried to do so at the beginning of the year... Today we came from a completely different direction across a brand new? (or newly replaced?) bridge before the penny dropped... Oh well, let's give it another try... Trying different ideas with what Big V might be, etc we found all sorts of things - me a Kookaburra's nest, lochb a rusty old toolbox on wheels... Eventually we had a few new targets to explore for GZ further away from "Little V" than we had tried before. lochb was keen on a spot I wasn't sure had big enough trees compared to others but with nothing to lose we gave it a go - and there it was at last, indeed something of a miracle given the propensity for these cache containers to get nicked by muggles and the minimalist hide!... So glad to finally have this one in the bag - it was starting to look like a nemesis cache!
The description of this letterbox has intrigued me for ages with its spooky Stonehenge-y sort of vibe. I think I even mentioned this to the CO, as far back as a year ago. But Ringwood and Croydon aren't places I casually visit with any regularity so it wasn't until today that I found myself seeking this by now highly anticipated cache.
At first I incorrectly identified the Big V, but once I tried working backwards using a vague estimate of the likely bearing, the blessed thing leapt out at me. Amazing really that I'd overlooked *that* V in the first place. Then the cache similarly leapt out at me, as it were. It wasn't terribly well concealed, I'm afraid. It seems kinda impressive that it has persisted in that location for so long given that such containers seem *very* popular when accidentally discovered.
All in all this really is a nifty way of setting up a projection. Thanks jacimarble and lukie1987!

This has been my closest Letterbox to home since I began my geocaching life, and as such, it had long fascinated me. But the description seemed a little too cryptic for me to be experimenting with a new cache type. Also, my tendency for after dark smiley hunting isn't so compatible with looking for distant visual clues, especially when one of the components no longer exists!
Anyhow...
I was looking through my black book this afternoon, working out where to grab my 'daily double'. The current Mary Hyde campaign happened to renew the appeal of this cache for me. By an odd coincidence, I ran into ahomburg en route, who was showing dees2017 some of the finer points of geocaching. We joined forces and made our way here. The late hour meant the last of the daylight was rapidly fading into evening gloom. Not ideal for this cache...
While the others continued their tutorial, I busied myself with the riddle. There was nothing of relevance immediately apparent. Indeed, I was v-less. I mean, there were plenty of options, but surely there must be something particular that I couldn't see. Damn, we'd left it too late. It was now too dark...
I went over the cache description again. Maybe I'd missed something. Suddenly, with a rare moment of insight, something leapt off the page at me! I went with it and found my 'Big V' and that enabled me to project a likely GZ. I explained my idea to the others, and as I did, I discovered the missing 'little v' - I was standing on it! It is still there, but it's now lying on the ground.
I got out a couple of torches for the search at GZ, as it had become fully dark. The cache was an instant find, but a truly rewarding one. I honestly couldn't believe what was found, and that it was located with such boldness. Wow!
Thanks to Jacimarble and lukie1987 for the cache and its ongoing care. I love that this is a different style of Letterbox that can solved with a touch of logic... even in the dark!!

This one had me completely stumped, but as it is my first letterbox, I'll keep trying with it. Thanks!
Dropped daughter at friends house and had some time in my hands so located the closest listing and went to find it. Needed to read a few logs and get my bearings on this one before it became clear. Loved the traditional cartridge. Signed log. TFTC
Dodging muggles to find my first letterbox cache. The cache hides better than I can whilst looking for it.
This one I found without a huge amount of trouble. I found what I thought was most likely to be the Big V on the way past to the cache coordinates (though it's surprising how many trees in that area are V shaped when you are looking for one), then found the corner of the fence. Not sure about the bearing calculations but they didn't seem necessary once including the corner of the fence.
Lots of people going by on a Sunday afternoon and the cache location is somewhat exposed, so I just sat down and soaked in the atmosphere while waiting for people to go by. A little tough to open the cache but finally managed to pull hard enough. Thanks for the cache.

While out in the company of the McLookers we thought we will try our luck here, we had a bit of trouble with the instruction but we found a way to get over that and soon had the nice sized cache in hand, thanks lukie1987 for the cache.
This took us a little while to get the instructions sorted but once we did, we found the cache. Thanks lukie1987. Found with The Tritonz on a day focused on Letterboxes.
We had a go at finding this one, but with little V missing, and Big V not exactly standing out lochb and I tried to follow the updated information and checked a few areas but time and the heat beat us so we had to give up...
The last one for frmen1 and I on our walk. Struggled to find correct V. Once a likely shape was found, the projection was quick and accurate. SL...left my stamp at home. A great size cache in suburbia. TNLN TFTC

I had to have a couple of goes at this one with a bit of muggles interference and a bit of a recalculation required. I found the V but my initial projection had me at the wrong tree. A bit of a rethink and I soon had the cache on hand and the log signed.
Thanks lukie1987 for keeping this one going. I love urban ammo cans.

Out with Cathlud for the day with the goal of collecting a few caches and solved puzzles in the area. As we stood at the corner it was hard to tell which tree was which. Aren't they all Vs? We decided to chance it and as we headed back to the bridge, there was a perfect V tree. Much better! We headed over towards the projected GZ and thankfully found the cache with ease. Getting open though was something that our poor muscles struggled with. I was thinking that we would end up having to leave it with out signing the log or that we would have to ask one of the 20 something yo men playing pokemon nearby to open it (how to explain that one!). Thankfully the muscles eventually succeeded in their task and we had the log signed. TFTC.
Out for a day geocaching with jeckleberryandtedd.
After reading the cache description many times I was still unsure of what we were to do and there were many trees that appeared to have 'V's in them. I lined up on a suitable tree and projected to a tree base where I was expecting to find the cache. On our way to the bridge we discovered a better 'V' and adjusted our calculations to arrive at a better GZ. Trying to not attract attention to ourselves we heaved and hoed until the cache lid was removed. Surprisingly out popped a Pokemon. I caught him and returned him to the cache while jeckleberry signed the log for us.
Thanks lukie1987 for this different type of cache.

Out caching with floppyandjoe. Failed to click with the description but after a while we found the cache. Thanks. Silkyie.
Found @3:08 PM #2064 Today was a miserable cold and windy day and OzHockeyChick and i thought we would get out and grab some of the local caches. This one was a beauty. Took a little to line up everything but it all became quite clear once we began our walk towards the projection. Lol
The hardest part today was avoiding the many curious muggles.
A great fun cache.

A cold windy Sunday. Perfect for caching as fewer muggles around.
Struggled a bit to begin with. Read through a few logs. Figured we might know where to go. As we headed that way, we saw what we needed in plain view. After face-palming, we headed over to gz, to make the find. Nice size cache!! Thanks Lukie!

Did the projections after identifying where Little v and Big V were. No muggles to observe the search today so the large cache container was found quickly. Took a TB from Holland to continue its journey.
We were just about to give up, when I said to Melro9, what if that's the big V. After disagreeing with me that the object would go over the creek, we gave it a shot anyway and bang! There it was. Tftc
Finally found it with raph_hero!! Took us a while at night as it's hard to see the V's... But then we took a moment to think over the hint and look a little further...
Great cache!!
Great cache!!
Thanks to bbfettish and her lateral thinking found it in the end. Little bit more difficult at night.
