Out with weredunn4 in the Karoonda area continuing our effort to collect the Wandering Heroes caches plus others we come across.Slowly but surely we are inching our way along this very long power trail. All logs signed or stamped, and maintenance where possible and if required.TFTC
Tackling the Wandering Heroes series again, and surrounding caches, with Cheezel1961. All caches found and stamped. Really enjoying this series and a massive thanks too all those who created and maintain this unique trail.
We are in Lameroo for the annual JLWE event which is the Lameroos Ludicrous Legwarmer event this year with an 80s theme.Out and about with Ronice88, Riddell and gregandjudy to collect this series of caches which are quite a way from home. We are signing as Vic Bandits todaySorry for the generic logs this group of caches.
Having a blast with weirdobiker exploring our vast country. Really enjoying the far away horizons and this flat country that is so different to home base at higher altitudes. Im on a multi mission having headed west to the JLW event in Lameroo via Curyo so here I am chipping away at the mad 20 caches in each LGA challenge plus lots more. TFTC and the fun.
Found with Riddell, Ronice88 and weirdobiker under the banner of Vic Bandits on the SA JLWE event at Lameroo signed as Vic Bandits.Apologies for the generic log, but were required we replaced logs and/or damaged caches, until we ran out.It was about here we realised we had travelled this road before, so some caches we have found twice TFTC SL TB's visited

Day 2 of my Geocaching weekend away to do a maintenance Run on all my caches along the Murray River and surrounding areas. Today was from Wynarka to Berri and fixing all my Wandering Hero caches and getting some more finds along the way of course.Sorry for the generic log but trying to catch up on my backlog of found caches before the new year.TFTC chrispy89
Our Second Day up here that yielded about 118 finds. Most of the finds were along the wandering heroes series...An early 7am start with hot weather predicted.Caching with Mclookers, GoodLook and The Dame today so we had a lot of banter and fun.Lots of scrub negotiated at most caches..Some cache containers had completely perished..All logs signed Fabulous RandomsThanks
On a caching adventure today with feathertop, GoodLook and The Dame. Log signed Fabulous Randoms. We are enjoying the warmer weather. Thanks for placing the cache chrispy89.
Log signed "Fabulous Randoms"On a caching trip with Feathertop, McLookers and GoodLook. What a fun trip. The weather was warm and so was the company. We can really recommend staying in the 'new' Karoonda Tourist Park - the cabin was fantastic (and solar powered/kind on the environment). Thanks so much for placing this cache.---------------------------Will we see you at the Mega in Adelaide, South Australia on 29 February 2024? Check out GCA1DNA to log your will attend and to find out more.
Day three of tackling this series. Nearly gave up yesterday as scrub very hard to negotiate and caches small and hard to locate. Today was so much better. Big black plastic tubs, ammo tins and buckets. Some are brittle but so much more fun if you can find them without tramping under, over thick matter. Thank you for the change. Hope it continues from now on. We enjoyed today. Found 70 and 6 dnf. Thank you everyone.
Some interesting cache name's, is it the game, her favorite food or just plain squashed in the car? Cache and log all good. TFTC chrispy89 & CPWanderer.
Found by Mary and David at 13:25. Dropped off "Southward Ho" Trackable - our last from Queensland. Our thanks to chrispy89.
Another cache find on our 2022 South Australian Adventure. It is a wonderful day, just perfect for geocaching.
Once again we are on the trail looking for Wandering Heroes. We are enjoying our time travelling SA. Visiting fantastic towns, ruins, beaches, and cliffs, but our favourite is the remote country. Thanks to all the COs for taking us on this geo-guided tour.

A big day out with the JAMS crew plus two. JJ52, Allister W, mogni and sir_spectre were joined by Tallbikestan and Bratkat. We found over 300 caches sadly I had already found most so only cleaning the Wandering Heroes for me. We had to replace and repair lots and threw 3 bags of rubbish out.
Thanks to chrispy89 from mogni

Out with the JAMS crew JJ52, Mogni, Allister W and sir_spectre, plus TallBikeStan and BratKat on this run. The logs where stamped as Mystery Randoms. The target's today where the Wander Heros trail ( as far as we could get ) plus any other caches in the towns or close to the road and the nearby Lab cache in Karoonda. We got slowed down by the rain till almost lunch. No wildlife sighted, not even a kanagroo. We found over 300 + caches, some of us had found some of them before but we are aligning all of our maps to the same finds. We replaced over 40 wandering heroes caches we found broken, most logbooks where dry and put in the new cache. Any logsbooks found close to full had a scroll added to the cache and all broken caches we removed and put in the bin. By the end of the day we had over a garage bag full of broken caches.
Caching with the JAMS crew finding Wandering Heroes caches. We ended up finding over 300 and hiding 2 more. We replaced a lot of containers that were broken. We had a few showers of rain early which were getting us wet but they didn't last too long and it ended up being a nice day. Thanks to all the cache owners for placing the caches.
Another JAMS day was organised to tackle the Wandering Heroes trail (JJ52, allister w, mogni, sir_spectre plus tallbikestan and BratKat). We started the day with rain and hail as we drove through the hills towards Tailem Bend but by the time we started the series we just had a couple of light showers and then for the rest of the day it was fine although we had strong cool winds.
That didn't stop us though, and we had a fun day finding around 300 caches plus an Adventure Lab in Karoonda. We had come prepared with lots of spare containers and replaced a heap of broken containers and sometimes logbooks. We managed to get to Sandalwood where we called it a day, so now have plans to come back and completed the last of the series.
This was my first visit out here since 2016 and by the end of the day I had 197 finds plus the Adventure Lab which I was pretty happy about.
Thanks for the cache chrispy89 & CPwanderer.

Thank you for placing the cache. This is a great trail. The container needs replacing. I'm sorry we didn't have any with us.
A plan was hatched with Rapidlywild to attack some of the caching trails down in VIC/SA. With the boarders slowly staying open we thought Easter might be a safe time to try since the QLD boarder was still too fragile to attempt going to the MEGA and it also looked like it could be rather wet there.
Our team “The Mob” consisted of GoodLook, LíB, Rapidlywild, The Drovers, feathertop and ourselves. This team ended up being very productive and some new friendships were made. Always a bonus in my book. All logs were stamped with “The Mob” to save space and time.
After completing all the trails, we had set out to do and a couple more for good measure it was time for this mob to go its separate ways.
So today we headed out with Rapidlywild to try our hand at some of the wandering hero’s caches. A lot of these caches need some TLC they are in a pretty bad way.
Thanks for the hide in this Wandering Heroes series chrispy89 & CPwanderer

For the first time in a long time, it was road trip time. With COVID-19 keeping everyone at home for so long, the borders were finally opening and the feet were itchy for a decent caching trip. Plans were made with FurfacesLL to do a 10 day road trip across to Mildura and Loxton to do a heap of caching and we were excited. Across the 10 days we racked up over 4,300km in driving, multiple hotels/motels, brought home enough red dust to create our own sand pit in the back yard and collected over 1800 finds between us. It was a massive trip and lots of fun was had.
We teamed up with GoodLook, FeatherTop, The Drovers and LiB and signed most logs as "The Mob". There were a few caches which were signed as individual team names as some teams had already completed said caches, those will be noted individually.
Our target caches were the Turtle Series, the Paddle Steamer Series and the On Ya Bike wherigo Series, heaps of other caches were also collected along the way but our primary target caches were completed which made us all very happy and very tired geocachers.
With the Turtle done, the PS Series done, the On Ya Bike done, the TdU & TdF done as well as the Riddlers done, our targeted caches has been accomplished. Today the teams all split up and went our seperate ways for the remainder of our journeys. Today myself and FurfacesLL decided to do some Wandering Heroes caches, it was a long and at times frustrating day. A number of the caches have fallen victim to the environment and are very brittle, to the point they just fall apart when touched. The entire series could really do with a major maintenance run. We ended up pulling the pin on the series and chose something different to do for the following day.
Thanks for the hides chrispy89 And thanks to "The Mob" for a trip to remember [^].

I set myself two caching goals at the start of this year.
1) Reduce the number of days in my calendar that I hadn't found a mystery cache. This was in preparation for a challenge cache that is apparently in the pipeline.
2) Complete my calendar so that I had a minimum of 5 cache finds per day.
Then half way through the year I heard a whisper about another challenge cache in the pipeline that required a Multi cache on every calendar day. At that time still needed 129 days so 3) reduce those days became yet another goal. Today was the last day to complete goal #2. All I needed was 4 caches. But I also needed #1 - a mystery and #3 a multicache.
So I thought I would go for a wander along the wandering heroes Trail and grab a few of the newer caches and I should be able to score the mystery and multi along the way. Strike me pink the first multi I haven't done is in Wanbi. Crikey, - I better get a move on.
Despite having done the trail many times over the years I saw how many unfound caches I had between the start and Wanbi and so decided I would go straight to Wanbi and then see how many I could get on the way back. I had a 2.30 appointment in Murray Bridge. [8)]
Haven't met this caching team yet - perhaps one day. A quick find as I made my way back to The Bridge.
**Thanks chrispy89 for this cache. **

Today we formed a small team to tackle a section of the Wandering Heroes series between Loxton and Karoonda. It was an early morning start today, and the four of us, FeatherWaite, GoodLook, @gridge98, and I, agreed to stamp the caches with a 'thumbs up' emoji stamp to save room in logs and for our ease. It wasn't a bad day to tackle this series, with blue skies and the sun out allowing us to run in/out and look for caches. Some may argue it was too good of a day to be stuck inside a car for half the time. There was a bit of banter in order to take our minds off the significant number of cache finds for the day.
Several caches were replaced due to their various poor states. Some containers had barely survived the test of time, and there didn't seem to be too many damp logbooks. Several detours were also had off the main road, and the caches at these sights seemed more interesting than the randomly placed heroes caches. Some were in good shape and creative, but most seemed to be the standard Sistema container. Thanks to all who had placed and those who have helped to maintain the current containers.
Thanks for this cache, and it didn't take long to find. Cache and contents were in good shape, cheers chrispy89 and CPwanderer.

Found with Davidwazza, GoodLook and gridge98 on a mission to tackle the Wandering Heroes Trail with each of us in various stages of 'completion'. Started at Loxton and worked back towards Karoonda replacing a few soggy log books and damaged containers along the way. Also took the opportunity to detour off the series to locate other nearby caches, resulting in a very entertaining and rewarding day's caching. Thanks for the cache CPwanderer!
Out for the day with Davidwazza, GoodLook and featherwaite to complete the wandering heroes caches north of karoonda. All the caches are in good condition as we replaced the ones that were broken and needed replacing. All the caches were stamped with a thumbs up () stamp for convenience. Was great to chat about the different heroes along the trail as we went. Thanks to all the COs for their placements

Hi there chrispy89,
RE: Your cache **"WH ... Squash99"**
We are really sorry to report that the cache is The cache is UV damaged and very brittle. It really needs some owner TLC.
We would have liked to replace/maintain the cache but we were really unprepared today and had nothing to replace it with.

The caching numbers continue to grow while out hunting with goingplaces2. The Wandering Heroes series was today's job, as well as some others and there were still plenty to find. Thank you to each CO for their contribution to the caching game. It's lots of fun.
Hi there chrispy89.
We found your cache **"WH ... Squash99"** today. (This makes our find count 21682).
Today we headed out from Wellington to attempt the Wandering Heroes series caches we haven't yet done, as well as any others we came across on our travels.. We thoroughly enjoyed today's cache finds, but please excuse our boilerplate logs - we know it's not really a good excuse, but we find it difficult to craft individual logs when we attempt so many similar caches in a day. [:(!]
We found 32 caches today & DNF'd 0. Thanks for placing this cache here, without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found most caches within a few metres of where our GPS said we should be looking. [:(!] (We did have to look a little further afield for some though). [:(!]
**Cache Condition:** The cache is UV damaged and very brittle. It really needs some owner TLC.
**Took:** Nothing
**Left:** Smiley Badge in the majority of caches.
Thanks for the hunt today,

This was our last day of being able to work on the Wandering Heroes trail with ilook4geo, but we were able to gather the smilies needed to complete this section. Again it was a mixture of conditions for the cache containers and logs. All found logs had two more lots of initials added before everything was put back. Our thanks go to chrispy89 & CPwanderer for placing this cache in the series that honours so many cachers.

We stayed at Lameroo last night with the intention of finding a few more in the Wandering Heroes series (our fifth visit)
A chance call from Goodlook had us meeting up in Karoonda and then after enjoying a coffee we headed out to do some more in this ever growing series.
We had a fantastic day finding the various containers and left a few favorite points along the way
We haven't had the pleasure of meeting this team nor have we done any of their caches but we hope to change that in the future
Thanks chrispy89 & CPwanderer for adding to this fantastic series.

I have only met Amy briefly on a couple of occasions over the last 12+ months, but I do know her parents a little better and can confirm that they are certainly a lovely family, and this was a cool spot for a cache find with friends!

I had such a wonderful weekend with my good buddies, the lovely Team Crackers [:X] [^] whilst caching from Karoonda to Waikerie over the 2 days.
We enjoyed the frivolity and fun that accompanied finding about 100 caches [:o)] [^]; lots of good food [^], heaps of laughter , some crazy story telling over maybe a drink or two before bed [^]. We enjoyed one night in Loxton at the Big 4, and we couldn't believe how lucky we were with the mild and fairly sunny weather we experienced (given the torrential rain in Adelaide).
A totally unplanned and unexpected weekend, but this spontaneous 'hook-up' could not have been more perfect [^]

Out caching with Hevwalker, Mandy and CP today. We started with placing a very special GEOPET cache and then headed to the Wandering Heroes.

Had loads of fun in the wet and sticky weather, although we got soaked a few times and I was drenching wet when I got home.

Early wake up this morning and out the door by 7am to Loxton with Lord Rossatron. We had started the Loxton caches and trails a couple weeks ago and we are going to be making day trips here to try and get as many as we can, the first time we did it we got 100 caches in the day and today goal was 150, but running on 3 hours sleep we gave up mid afternoon to drive back home. We did find approx 75 caches today though so still good effort
Easy find! Thanks for the cache

Today was our second attempt at knocking off a few more caches off of the wandering heroes series. Our last attempt saw us getting 100 of them and this time we planned on getting more. Our goal was to try and get 150 in the day. Due to our bad time management skills we didn’t make it to be until 3am the night before. Our alarm went off at 6am and as a collective we decided to change the plan to leave at 6:30 to 7am and snooze for an extra half hour. That half hour felt more like 5 mins but be got ourselves up feeling sorry for ourselves and headed out the door to start driving to where we left off last time. We got our first cache at 9:30 and then proceeded from there. We gave up on the day after 74 finds and a couple of DNFs as we were both starting to snooze a little between finds and thought it would just be best to give up on the day and go back to bed before we get into an accident. Most caches were logged with just our initials to save time and occasionally a log was night signed either due to a spider keeping guard or commonly the cache having a soaked log.
If I can remember anything unique about your cache I will add it but otherwise my log will stay very generic. Thank you to all those who have placed caches into this series and thank you to those who these caches are dedicated too.

Oh wow, what a trail ! The WEEO and I flew down from Canberra to cache this trail and around MB and my wonderful Auntie put us up (future cacher there too ). We made it all the way to Loxton in 2 days but were shagged by the end. The caches were mostly fab and gave us a laugh along the way.
Thanks to all you cachers in the MB area for the great work in putting this together, you guys rock!

What a great trail, the weather is fine, the birds are singing and we are "in the groove". Thanks to all the cachers who put this trail together, we are having a ball and have not missed a beat, so far. 3-Kings and I have come all the way from NSW to experience this trail and it was well worth it. A quick trip to Adelaide provided another great opportunity to pick-up caches every chance we could all the way over and back . Many thanks to chrispy89 for the cache TNLN TFTC SL.

Travelled from Loxton to Tailem Bend, picking up caches along the way.
We had to miss a few, as there wasn't suitable parking for the caravan.
Being the last day of the long weekend, the roads were a little busy.
We picked up 22 Wandering Heroes, that weren't there on our last visit.
All caches were located quickly, signed and replaced as found.
Many thanks for placing this cache, chrispy89, for us and others to find.

Cache # 156 of 221 for this long weekend.
The Parrot was on a roll to try and get closer to the 10, 000 mark as this last 500 seems to be taking forever.
Unfortunately the knee didn't hold out and I had to retire from the field.
If you have stitches in your knee you really should cover them over before pushing though bushes.
I had a fantastic time cashing down some trails that have been in GSAK for far to log,
I worked on the Oz Mega, OTD, Geopets and Wandering heroes series over 2 days.

Heading north to QLD and doing the Wandering Heroes along the way and today I managed picked up a lot of interesting hides along the way and this was one of them.
It was also interesting reading about all the different Heroes and their exploits.
Thanks for placing the series.

I had a full day planned to wander down the trail today and it was well needed, so many new cache placement since my last visit nearly three years ago. Some very creative placements found and a very enjoyable day's caching. Cheers to all our heroes, and those that have honoured them.
Thanks for this one chrispy89

On a WH mission today to try to get to 100 caches for the day. Stupidly I forgot sunscreen so was getting scorched along the journey. Drank about 5 litres of water and found 103 caches. If I'd had a co-driver could have found alot more but alas not he was harvesting. Enjoyed listening to the cds I got for Christmas on the 5 hour return trip to get to/from Tailem Bend from Naracoorte. TFTC and apologies for the generic logs.
Finally a cacher I have actually met, spent some time caching with Amy and the other Kellys at the JLWE in Mundulla, congrats on your WH cache!

First our apologies for the generic log.
This week our days off happen to be Wednesday and Thursday so we decided that it was time to finish off the Wandering Hero's trail for the third time. I had not realised it was such a long drive to Loxton from Kaniva but once on the road we were committed. With 60 odd new Hero caches and a few rogue ones along the way we had a good day. We had neglected to remember how much fun it was to start the car for the next cache and just as quickly saying "stop", how long will it be before we need to "finish off" the trail again. SL TFTC

Adelaide trip September 2015. I spend five days driving to Adelaide taking some more remote routes across the river land area and exploring new places along the way. Day 4. The driving today took me from Moorook to Karoonda, not far but a few collections of caches done along the way, mostly Wandering Heroes, especially the fish ones.
Thanks.

Mr M-SEZ spent the day caching with SneakySqueaky. We left town before sunrise and headed for the Karoonda Highway to take care of some Wandering Heroes caches and beyond. We had a great run. By lunchtime we had cleaned up all of the WH caches team I left behind on previous trips.
After that we spent some time exploring the dirt roads off the highway finding some of the more isolated caches before heading back to the Sturt Highway via Loxton and Moorook. All told we added 81 caches to our tally.
Thanks again to CP Wanderer for starting the wonderful WH series, and thanks to all of the cache creators for adding your creations to this series and the surrounding area.

Logging as a Beta tester as I had a hand in placing this cache!! Good to see Squash99 caching under her own name now!! Worthy recognition in this series.
Found It!
I've been on many caching adventures with squash99 and they are always an adventure! Just don't ask her for directions. Or how to use a GPS. Or how to climb a tree. Or even how to find a cache!

It's been over three years since I visited The Wandering Heroes series, was very close to having them all then but it's certainly grown quite a bit since.
Started today at Sandalwood and managed to find all outstanding back to Karoonda and a little beyond before the car door hinges cried enough, lets go home.
Loved the variety of hides and am now looking forward to reading about all the teams featured.
Love the concept, thanks CP, the execution and maintenance of this outstanding series.

Brrr, getting a bit cool as the sun is going down. A quick find for my last cache this afternoon. TFTC. Cache #2157.
After visiting my brother in Murray Bridge I am now actually heading for Queensland for the Mega and picking up the rest of the Wandering Heroes series that I haven't yet done with a few others along the way.
Had a very good day with only a couple of no finds and a couple near Karoonda where muggles were everywhere for the farm day so stopped me even looking.
No problems with finding any of the caches that I did find.
Thanks chrispy89 for the cache.

I remember Squash99 being awarded her GPSr from Alex. Well deserved. Lovely young cacher from a very nice caching family. TFTC chrispy89.
Sushilord, Aussie M&M, CPwanderer and Owl were heading home from a great caching weekend, caching as they went, though finds were starting to spread out the closer they got to home time. This one was found by Sushilord after owl walked straight past it.
Project “Centroid” was on. After a bit of planning Fleabag and I decided to head towards Adelaide again for the long weekend to get 500 or so caches to move our centroid far enough away from home to complete a challenge cache in Melbourne. We managed to get 501 just for good measure.
At the same time we tried to get a few areas of Victoria done on the way there and back to start working on another challenge cache back in Melbourne.
Today was a wandering heroes day until we had to head into Murray Bridge to pickup some replacement caches from the CO to replace a number of the Oz Mega series that are missing which we will fix up tomorrow.
Thanks for the cache, the hunt and the fun.

Spiffy- and I were on a project to get 500 caches in 4 days that were over 100km from our home locations. I reallly enjoyed this series and the themed hides. Great idea and a nice tribute to all the cachers. With each cache we would recall if we had met them at events and what caches they owned. A long and tiring but very enjoyable day. Thanks for the cache.
The Wandering Heroes Series has become a regular feature on our visits to Adelaide to catch up with family. We enjoying reading the stories of the teams recognised by addition of caches between our visits. Some we have met, we have found caches placed by some, some are names in logs or on forums. Each adds another perspective to our caching experience. We love the concept and the way cachers across the country have taken it up.
Originally part of the well known Clare team The Kelly Gang Squash99 now caches under her own banner and has found over 2000 caches. Congratulations on receiving the 2014 Rising Star award at the 2014 June Long Weekend Event at Cleve. We hope you have many years of happy caching.
A quick find this cache was in good condition. Thanks for the cache chrispy89

Found while out for the day with Uni on a Wandering Hero's assault 'It's not about the numbers is about the milestones'.
We had a great day finding many many great caches, I apologize about the generic logs however for efficiency this is the quickest way to do it for me when I'm time poor. I would like to aknowlege all the great work and innovation put into many of the hides along this route.
Thank you to all cache placers,
Cheers and Happy Hunting

Today is day one of our trip away. We set off for Berri to spend 3 days caching the Riverland area, joined by earthlight and Gwen from The X-Trailers. This was a good opportunity to find (or DNF) caches while trialling out our new tent and camping accessories, gearing up for when we head off to the QLD Mega at the end of March. We started out in temperatures of 38ºc before that first evening brought light showers, although not enough to dull the 41ºc temp for day two. Day three was a much nicer day as the day cooled down to a nice 28ºc. We managed 200+ finds on this trip. On day two we found caches in 3 states in 1 day being SA, VIC & NSW, that was quite a highlight. No snakes were spotted, guess it was too hot for them but we had one roo bound slowly across the road in front of us. Next trip back here will be with the boat, there are plenty of river caches to hunt for and naturally all the ones we didn't have time for. A quick find as we clean up all the new releases since we were last here. TFTC
Found with 3LG and the X-trailers as we put smiley's to the caches in this series we still had to find.
