Reperio 15:02Day 4 of our NSW south eastern caching tour, and Master Vitruvius and I travelled from Batemans Bay to Eden. The biggest factor of our travels today was the wind. Often blowing so hard it was a challenge to both get the log signed and hang onto zip lock bags. The journey along the coast was fantastic. With rain threatening to arrive early the next day, we aimed to get as much done as we could, and so concentrated our effort on ticking off the caches along Bengello Beach. As we continued down the coast, we turned our focus to finding the SST series. Found most of the caches we searched for, so it was a great day out. Day 6 of my Bermagui fishing trip. Rain and wind all day today, certainly no good for fishing. So i threw on my raincoat and decided to head south towards Tathra and complete some more of the SST series. Only made it half way due to flooding.

It had fallen out of its spot so a very easy find.

Great to find a quality cache and a beautiful location, such scenic countryside. So much creativity, we had a few dnfs but managed to find this one of yours we searched for. Our thanks to dghoffy for placing this cache and adding to our enjoyment of the area.
Our caching fun continued today as we went on the hunt with ilook4geo. Mostly we concentrated on the SST series, but some were not included in the list for various reasons. We found it very interesting how most cache names were very relevant, either being related to the camo or the position chosen for the hide.
Some were quick and easy finds, but others took a bit more serious looking. We also enjoyed finding the variety of containers used. All in all we had a lot of fun today and say thank you to dghoffy and elysium_au for placing and maintaining the caches in this great series.

What a fun day it was today with all the caches found with goingplaces2. Loved the camo used for so many of the caches and enjoyed finding the trickier ones too. Logs were signed and containers were replaced. TFTC.
Lol took a bit to find but we got there.
Spending a glorious weekend down the Sappire Coast as part of the Canberra Invasion. Whilst the invasion meant the chance to catch up with many cachers at events and at different spots (and a delightful excuse to celebrate Lovetherabbitohs 18th birthday), I spent most of the weekend on the hunt with the CGI crew: Fitzy_1965, DarzeeDi, Minniek , K8TYBEE , GLISS!, GSC2000 Lovetherabbitohs, B0tmun, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1. Thanks so much for keeping all the caches alive and making this weekend a possibility! Tftc

Out and about with nibletricecakes and the Goulburn/Canberra crew. Scouting the coastline for treasures... my first big caching weekend! TFTC (and trail)
Headed to Wallaga Lake for a bit of an invasion by people from Canberra & Goulburn. A group of us convoyed for most of the long weekend. The group known as CGI (Canberra Goulburn Invasion) consisted of fitzy_1965, darzee di, nibletricecakes, k8tybee, GLISS!, GSC2000 and my geokids Lovetherabbitohs, b0tmun, death_killer & my_name_jeff_1.
Day 2 saw us head towards Tathra with all caches along the way in our sights, most of which was the SST series. All caches were quickly found. We certainly loved the variety.

Sorry for the generic log, some with an added comment - this weekend a few of us from Canberra and Goulburn decided to travel down to Bermagui and do the SST series and some of the other traditionals, camping at Wallaga Lake Big4.
Today was day 2 of our adventure and once again the weather was glorious a little warmer than yesterday, loved the company, lots of laughs and stories making a great day. I just loved the different caches and ability to park safely and enjoy the experience, some a little harder to find than others but found in the end . We signed logs as team CGI (canberra Goulburn invasion) and we all enjoyed ourselves, we all had a great day and all said how much a fantastic series it was. Tftc dghoffy and elysium_au

Sorry hoffys, but this is going to be a generic log, as I have trouble keeping up with the youngsters I cache with, let alone making notes for individual caches. It will however save you reading every log!
Weeks ago it was decided to resurrect the idea of Canberra Invasions. I had not previously been involved in these adventures but enthusiastically signed up and this is our second this year. What a fabulous time we had. The main targets were the Event on Saturday night to celebrate an 18th birthday and the SST series. Both were achieved as well as some extras thrown in for good luck.
Thanks to all the COs for the effort they put in to creating the caches we found, but especially to dghoffy . What an incredible set of caches. I especially loved the names allocated to the caches - wow what great imaginations you have, and this spilled over to the creation of the caches. Well done d! It was wonderful not to have a series of mint tins or sistemas and their placement was great too. Evil at times but so much fun! I especially appreciated the fact that there was always good parking on roads that can be busy - glad it was a winter long weekend not one in summer.
All caches were eventually found, sometimes with a little bit of help - thanks to the COs and GrimRaider and were signed or stamped as Capital Crunchers. Brilliant series so thanks again and it was great to have you share the weekend with us.

With Tankengine we made our way down to this part of the coast, there would be many other canberra cachers out and about in the area as well and on this day two we often cached with many of them. This was an area I have been wanting to come visit for such a long time for the trail of caches and were so lucky to have fabulous weather and such good company for the three days.
The caches are very different and interesting with a mixture of hide types, styles and difficulty to keep things interesting. I just loved this area with all the lakes, inlets and waterways, the coast... spectacular. A beautiful place to visit.
Day two and this cache: Having met up with two other cars full of cachers earlier we continued on wards together for these caches. With many sets of eyes the caches were quickly located, all found okay here, thanks for the cache.

This was a long awaited and planned geocaching mission to the south coast with a few other Canberra cachers. Bobl27, TikvaNZ and I drove down Saturday morning and picked up a few caches on the way to the main goal which was the SST. We picked up 19 caches Saturday getting warmed up for the main day today, Sunday. And such pretty views from so many cache spots.
This cache: quick find !

We have had our eye on this geocaching trail for a long time now, and so with our current travels taking us south down the coast we of course wanted to gain a few smilies. We enjoyed the trail with its many varied cache hides and the locations the caches led us to. Some of the caches were quite challenging to find while others gave themselves up much easier. It was a very windy day with a bit of drizzly rain, but certainly nothing to deter us from another great day out geocaching, and so many thanks to the CO for the extraordinary amount of time and effort put into laying this trail, although we will have to wait for another visit to complete the north bound section - something to look forward to! This one was indeed a quick dash and cache once at Ground Zero. We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
Thank yo so much for all the caches along this trail making our drive a LOT more interesting!
Accurate coordinates and a common style of hide led to a quick find. The cache and contents were in good condition. The vigorous growth of grass provided extra camo for the cache. Thanks dghoffy and elysium_au for the cache and a very enjoyable series.
this morning i started from Narooma and enjoyed a scenic drive with a lot of caching down to Eden. most of the caches were of the SST series. i was very happy to soon find, that, despite the number of caches, they were all hidden in their own quite unique way. some were quick finds, others took me a bit longer to find. thanks for making a great day out even better and TFTC!
After chores around the house I am staying at I had an hour to hunt caches. One of the many found whilst out. tftc
G&T had planned a raid on the SST series in the hope of ticking off the required 100 finds for the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. So we came down and had a very successful weekend, with 50 finds on the Saturday and at least 60 on the Sunday, and only 2 or 3 DNFs overall. We completed the SST loop, although we skipped a few here and there when we missed a turnoff or it looked like a given cache might take too long to get to, given we were on a numbers run. But I was really impressed with this series, finding it much more interesting than a boring power trail. There's obviously been genuine thought and in many cases clever workmanship going into the hides. To have so many of such quality and variety is quite an achievement and made the numbers run much more enjoyable than it could have been, were we pursuing endless "tupperware under a bush" hides. People concerned about the lack of hints just need to pay more attention to the clever naming system, in most cases. I also appreciate the thought that went into planning a particular route around the caches - clockwise, which we followed as advised - and the selection of safe places to pull over.
After a few tricky ones it was nice to have a stretch of quick park and grab ones to get our hourly average back up again. TFTC!

Find Number 1570, found at 14:42
With the current Groundspeak promotion encouraging caching for the numbers, GeoSon NationalSteel and I decided to try for all 100 finds in a two day weekend. The only signifiicant series that neither of us had found was the SST, so we set off down South to try our luck.
Another roadside P&G helping us to keep the numbers up.
The cache was in good condition. We took nothing, left nothing, signed the log using the signature GT/NS and replaced the container as found
Thanks dghoffy for the cache.

This series is very challenging, each cache is different and ain’t a simple drive-by. These were placed by die-hard cachers so be warned. Difficulty rating should be higher on most. Day 2.
On a two day road trip with Seemyshell and Muppet95 searching for caches around the Sapphire Coast. So many various hides along the way. Thanks to the COs for placing and maintaining these caches in such a beautiful area to visit. TFTC
Overnight trip around the SST with Seemyshell and Brewmaker. I was really impressed with the wide range of unique styles and sizes. Another huge selling point on these were the interesting names for the caches (instead of numbered), which makes it easier to remember each location and find. Thanks to all the Cache Owners of the Sapphire Coast (namely dghoffy and elysium_au) for injecting the greater area with good quality caches. Thanks For The Cache!

Last full day on a South Coast holiday, so I had to make the most of being near caches unfound. I had my geobrother Wombat2005 along for the day, and together we found 50 caches.
We battled the sun, tics and a few dnfs but had a good haul in the end.
Thanks for the caches.

On the last day of our family holiday I decided to tag along with Noodles22 when he said he wanted to find 100 caches today. We ran out of time and only managed 50 in the end. But it was a long, hot day with scratches from the close encounters with the bush.
Thanks for all the caches!

On our wonder down to the Vic, mega at Alexandra. Took tb. 2591 so far for us. Thanks for placing this cache dghoffy, without cachers like you we wouldn't have a hobby. Signed log. took nothing, left nothing
Back again for a few more in this excellent series. Many thanks for the3se beautifully prepared and placed caches.
We have picked up some more of the series in between whale watching. Love the interesting and creative containers and the always perfect parking places. Thanks for the series.
We have been visiting The Saphire Coast since our childhood and have always loved family holidays. Now there's just the 2 of us and we still love coming here. There's no better way to explore than on our very own geo-tour. We are interested to see if we discover any unknown (to us!) treasures on our journey today. We have already seen one whale from the shore, fantastic!
A nice quick stop! We are now beginning to settle into a bit of a rhythm and confidence is returning.

Time to leave Batemans Bay and drive towards Bega. On the way, we will be doing quite a number of caches by different CO's. Due to the number, that was found, a generic message has been done. I apologise for this, however if I did individual message for each cache, It would take so long to do. Thank you to all CO for placing the caches in their very special spots. TFTC

It is a long weekend in Canberra and a welcome trip away as work has been hectic the last few weeks. I was pleased to accept an initiation to stay with fellow geocachers Boeing737 & Jetfuselage (hope you're looking after my plane Will). The south coast is beautiful this time of year, however, with the warmer weather, the reptiles are on the move and I spotted numerous lizards and two black snakes.
I was surprised how quiet it was, I thought there would be a few Canberra cachers about, but no: just me. Forgive the generic logs.
TFTC dghoffy. Thanks very much for the guided tour around this beautiful part of the coast. I look foward to my return.

Down from Canberra as I was invited by ZimbaW and geospouse to spend an awesome weekend of camping on their amazing slice of paradise...with some caching thrown in for good measure!
The rain had cleared and it had turned into a lovely sunny day...so off we went for a day of caching of course! ZimbaW and the Ridgeopup tagged along whilst I collected more of the SST series...ZimbaW had a great time watching me look for the caches whilst Freda the Ridgeopup couldn't of cared less so curled up for a sleep in the back of the Jeep
Most of the series were easy finds but there were a few tricky ones which were a challenge!
Thanks for the hide and for the series, dghoffy

We are staying a few days at Tathra so decided to tackle the Sapphire Surprise Trail from Tathra to Bermagui. We had a great day finding well constructed caches, sneaky hides and visiting beautiful areas we wouldn't have seen. There are so many lovely spots along this coast, thanks for showing them to us. The countyside we drove through was so green and lush which is so different to southern Tasmania at the moment. We appreciate the time and effort you have put into creating this trail and all the work involved. Another quick find. TFTC
Today's journey was a short one from Bermagui to Tathra. I backtracked to the highway and began my caching from there towards Tathra. I had to be at my accomodation by 5:00, so I had to skip a lot to get there in time. I'll do them tomorrow. Quick find in a typical place.

# 10148. Our first day on the SST Trail and it turned into quite an epic day. We left Tuross Head at 9.20am and got back again about 10 hours later, having covered 200km and getting a total of 43 caches for the day (not all SST caches). We fell short of Tathra by about 9 caches. We had 2 DNF's on the trail also.
It was certainly a fantastic day to be taking in the coastal and coastal forest scenery. It certainly warrants the name Sapphire Coast.
Another quick find and again it is so pretty through here. Picked up a jewelled skull for a cache Rob has at home and left a TB of a Brown Labrador to continue its travels from here.
Thanks dghoffy
