Time for this one to go. Reviewing the SH1 series and archiving those difficult to access given this busy stretch of road. Container removed.
Easy find, sent Paua out to find this one as drivers door too close to road with cars whizzing by. TFTC.

As i was picked up just after 4am to head to the Manawatu I realised this was not going to be a dot day. This was an attempt to get 270 caches in one day. There are a couple of great circuits in the Manawatu that will help work toward this goal so thanks to the CO's that have placed them for our enjoyment.
Thanks also to my partner in geo crime and driver for the day Yetrees. Without an able driver an attempt such as this would be impracticable so thanks for enabling it.
Thanks to all the CO's for their contribution to my smilie tally.
It is forecast to be a long day geocaching, hoping to make the 270 target. To be honest I'd be pretty happy with 200, however why not go for the Emerald badge (see project-gc.com)

After completing my Birthday caching in wellington the family and myself are ready for home.
So time for the drive back from wellington to wanganui, stopping at a few caches we have picked along the way.
Cache / Camo / log are in good shape.
Pulled in here and was greeted by the title description, quick look around and extraction Hyjynx signed us in before replacing.
Cheers

I'm staying on my own for 4 nights at Paraparaumu and grabbing caches here and there including a power trail today at some point near Palmerston.
Another one along my merry way, thanks for that.

The holiday season at last! Off to Auckland to see my folks. Caching all the way.
Thanks to all the CO's for their hides.

[green] On my way to Palmerston North for Christmas, and caching along the way. An awesome day to be out and about. Except for the traffic. It seems that everyone is on the road. Getting back onto the road, especially if crossing lanes, can involve a ten minute wait!
And that's the problem. I am not enjoying this little series. Don't get me wrong, the caches are fine. No micros, locations mostly okay, parking mostly okay. It's just that I am doing them today. Looks like half of New Zealand finished work on the 18th and everyone is heading out. And everyone else is heading in. Both directions flat out busy. Heck there was one stage I could walk faster than I was driving!

A straightforward find, only we initially interpreted the hint a little differently from what turned out to be the case. TFTC
Heading north having been down to Wellington on business with a plan to pick up some caches as I went and this was one of thirty odd picked up on the way there and back. This was to be the last cache of the day. While I could have carried on, decided I had better head for home proper after this one. Stopped at said tree where the cache was quickly found - TNLNSl. Thanks for the placement Just-Lookin, will look to grab the rest of these on this stretch of road on another run to Wgtn and back.
[Red] thanks for Supporting the Geokids program, making geocaching more fun for kids across New Zealand so kids aren't sad when they find geocaches . Have dropped some swag into the cache.[/Red]

A lonely tree!! Busy road this time of night. A good feel around and cache was in hand. Tftc
Stopped right beside this lovely Totara tree and made another quick find. Thanks.
I had to visit Waikanae for work today. It was such a cracker of an afternoon I decided to cruise up to Otaki and find some caches along the way. Found in the second place I looked. TFTC
I was travelling from Wellington to Whanganui and had targetted a few drivebys to grab on route.
Had a quick stop on the side of the road and made a super quick find. TFTC

I found this quite a while ago. And then forgot. So I went to find it aging and re sign the log. But I can't locate it this time.. what did I do wrong?? But since I had found it and signed previously I am now logging it. Thanks for another cache for today.
TFTC. Fortunately there was nobody immediately behind me as I realised I was about to overshoot and pull in!
Number 3 of 7 that I wanted to grab today. I had been saving this series for dot days, but as I was closing in on my next milestone number, I thought it would be appropriate to log number 400 at an upcoming GC Birthday Event cache, so I made the trip out to grab some of this series! Apologies for the cut and paste logs on this cache. All caches were found in good order, with nothing out of the ordinary to mention. TFTC.
Heading off for a six day sortie though the lower North Island with the primary reason being to pick up the CANZ caches we need to complete the North Island half of the challenge.
On our way north to Wanganui after a couple of days in Wellington. At this rate we will never get to our destination. But a cache is a cache and it's too hard to drive by and not make an attempt. Mr S got this one for another smilie face on the trail.
Thanks Just-Looking.

Thankfully a quick find at the Totara Tree, heaps of traffic on the road on a Easter Monday, TFTC.
Heading northward. This one you can suss from a couple of hundred metres off. There's only one of these on this stretch of the road.
Plenty of safety margin in the pull over on the shoulder. No worries here mate!
Cache in order; log signed, safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

headed out today trying to get to 1100 before the 5th having having planned a route last night, managed to do this on such a busy day more so on the state highway, I dont know how many times I was either trying to look like I was randomly talking on the phone while bent over looking for a cache, its very hard to be shady on that road, but mamaged it and I am sure I looked silly but hey its what caching can be about. came across some very well kept caches and some not so and only got 6 dnf on the 29 I was looking for, I added swag to all caches that had room and were in good nic, sorry about the copy and paste on the logs, as I was cahcing by myself I didnt take notes. thanks for the cache.
Came here on a day trip up the Kapiti Coast to knock off some of the new caches in the area. A quick find - signed log, TFTC!
A morning caching in Otaki and Te Horo area. Park and grab for an easy find by a busy road. Thanks for the cache.
All those other loggers commenting on the traffic whizzing past! Our trouble is that the traffic is at a standstill, so we have a captive audience. Only so much stretching against fences and pretending to take photos that you can do. Or park really close and dash out for a quick grab. At least getting back into the traffic isn't an issue.
We had just been to the Rattling Zoo in Wellington and dropped off most of our Rattll rock collection and here we are following in rattll's footsteps (tyre tracks) and I'm compelled to collect them again. We will be going home with as many as we came with.

The traffic sure whizzed past fast here. Felt a little obvious, but at least it was a quick find & back to the car.

I was over in Otaki today with Mrs skindo, she was shopping and I was caching . I tackled the caches from the southern end, which was a lot easier than the other ones in the series where I was heading south. There was a lot of traffic on the road today, but this made it easier to look inconspicuous. Most of the caches were a quick find.
Thanks for a great series of caches Just-Lookin

Down from the Naki for a few days, all co ords good all clues good We also appreciate all with good parking as in a campervan it can be difficult. many thanks
Stopped about 150m before the tree as didn't want to pull off the highway at it.. Found very easily.. Did with Mycro Man on the way to Loco today.
On my way south from Wanganui to Wellington I was happy to make some cool finds today
Thanks to the owners for hiding and maintaining the caches along the route [^] [^] - and cheers from Germany!

We had an enjoyable Sunday morning drive picking up some of Just-Lookin's new caches along SH1 and around Te Horo. We had no problems with any of them - they truly are 'park and grabs'. Thanks very much for all of these.
Easy find then suddenly there was a break in the traffic, time to sign and replace, amazing. TFTC
And a beautiful Totara it is. Its beautiful timber to work with too. If you live in an older (pre 1970's ?) weatherboard house, then there is a good chance those weatherboard's are Totara. If you are renovating, look for the tell-tale orange colour primer on the backs of them. This was formulated especially for Totara because the timber is very oily (that's why it was so good in the weather) and the traditional pink primer of the time, simply wouldn't dry. And you thought you weren't going to learn anything new today! SLTFTC
A nice quick and easy park-and-grab this morning, amongst the beautiful Totara tree. TFTC!
Nice quick find on a lovely sunny day Tftc really enjoying the area thanks Just Lookin
After having started today's mission at 0530 in order to take out the Zealandia trail (successfully I might add) we made our way north and home. With the light starting to deteriorate we took care of this series. As the page states they are all at excellent, and safe, locations and well worth the time to park and grab.

A plan was hatched a while ago to make a road trip down to Wellington to do the Zealandia Power Trail. Original cast members were to be spud n z, hunter hillson, tommy gun 9 and capperz. Alas other things came up so today's trip was only attended by the resolute tommy gun 9 and capperz and a weather bomb was looming but no worry, the caching must go on. Leaving Palmy at 0 5 3 0 was the plan to avoid any heavy Welly traffic and the ploy was wise. It was quite difficult to ignore all those unfound caches between Palmy and Welly but needs must when a power trail and some decent terrain is involved. At the end of the day we'd stayed mostly dry and no mis haps to report, so a successful trip all round with good company.
Coming off the track after over five hours of caching it was time for a few pre selected caches to finish the day off.
I'd started these SH1 caches last time I was passing on the way home (with a curry) after coming back from overseas but a lack of light and plenty of tiredness curtailed my efforts after the first one at Peka Peka
this time with daylight and time on my hands we had time to find another eight, only one D N F
T F T C Just-Lookin, Nice hides

A very fine specimen too, I hope it doesn't fall at the hands of a chainsaw any time soon. TFTC, #6827
On my way to Te Horo today. Not the best weather for caching. Nice new trail to find between showers. Good placements.

A belated logging (Jan 15!!) of an afternoon's caching with little blue hen. Not sure why I missed logging these. Apologies for a few repetitive logs. Looking forward to the rest of the ones in the area. TFTCSL
Nice quick find. Lots of totaras in this area, good to see this one survived. There is also a plum tree a short distance further north that fruits impressively. T4TCSL
On the way to Otaki today so this newly placed mini trail was not be ignored. Good hides and good sized containers, and much appreciated the obvious attention to good parking. Recommended to pull well over however, the traffic really zooms by!
Many thanks for the hide Just-Lookin
