Looked for about half an hour, several likely spots within the 4 m circle, but no luck
A beautiful winter's day walk, seen some in pink and white heath plants. Once up the mountain, we spent a good hour looking and seen exactly where it should of been from past pictures, but unfortunately, I think it's gone sadly.
TFTC should have taken a cut lunch and water! Whew, very steep in places and lots of Marsh flies
Back in the area for a Parkrun, so time to tick off the new caches that have been added since our last visit This one definitely ticks the quality over quanty box with a nice hike up the mountain to be rewarded with an amazing view. Nice easy find tftc
Had a very nice break this morning on my solo drive back home today. Ive driven past this peak many times and was determined to one day take a closer look, and did that there was even a cache there was well! The road in was a bit dodgy but very slow and steady got me to the parking spot. I was concerned that I wasnt going to get a good view as there was a great deal of fog on the way here. Nonetheless , I was here and I was going up! I was amazed at the number of butterflies here, hence the cache name, butterfly hunt. The climb up reminded me of the final ascent of Mt Jellore, maybe a little shorter and not quite as high, but the view from the top of Mt Piper was truly lovely. But then to find the cache. Well my own fault here, as for some reason I was looking for a different container, if I had of realised, it wouldnt have taken so long, but thats caching for you!
Date: 21 October 2023 Time: 10:20 amFind #14248After completing Puka parkrun, I headed slowly home, picking up a few caches along the way. Very nice view from GZ, well worth the hike up.Massive thanks go to SuperSirmans for placing this one.
Armed with the knowledge of the rough road and not having a 4WD we parked at the entrance and strolled in.
After a tour around the base of the mountain it was time to make the climb. Great views on this still and sunny day and plenty of insect life at the top.
Cheers SuperSirmans, thanks for bringing us here.

time to break up the road-trip
we had enough of the humdrum
and needed to stretch the legs
we were headed to the hills, and nothing was going to stop us
except
well
we were worried about getting bogged on the way to the car park
mud and ruts are no friends of ours
so
we just decided to abandon the car halfway there
and hoof it the rest of the way
it wasn't exactly a casual stroll in the park
we took the slope at pace
fuelled by a muesli bar and a podcast
decent views from the summit
we're glad we made the trek
who needs a car anyway?

A butterfly hunt indeed. The beautiful little things followed me all the way up to the summit. What an interesting little standalone mountain or hill.
It’s a good steep climb up so plenty of cardio work and at the top there’s a lovely 360° view and some nice rocks to sit and have a cuppa or lunch. Thanks so much for bringing me here I’ve enjoyed it. TFTC

Decided to trek up Mt Piper today whilst the weather was beautiful. The road in was full of holes, bumps and mud but the trek up the mountain was worth it. Also did the walk around the base. Lovely area. TFTC
What a view! Had a couple wedge tails soaring above as well was windy today but so worth the walk up thanks
Mt Piper was the site of this month's bushwalk and the glorious conditions meant the viewing was superb. The butterflies were out in force with many species on display. Unfortunately, there's also a wasp nest just as the track joins the summit area but they're not European wasps and despite some attempts, none of the group got stung. Phew.
With the viewing done, it was down to the task at hand and once at GZ, Al spotted the prize at 11:05 to open its account for 2022.
TNLNSL, although our Happy New Year to the cache geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Thanks SuperSirmans.

Found with Eudes at 11:05am while on our monthly bushwalk. Great weather meant the views were pretty spectacular, and there were plenty of butterflies about. Last time I was here some years ago there were huge numbers of Sun Moths as well, but none spotted today. Spent some time checking out the views then went around the loop track before heading off to Broadford for our post-walk BBQ with the group.
thanks SuperSirmans

Not a DNF, just not enough time really once I realised how bad the road was. Although I had plenty of clearance on the GeoSuzi, the bike on the roof racks was taking a pounding with how super rough the track was!. Eventually had to clear a track off the road to enable me to do a 3 point turn. So will have to return another day. A shame as it was a perfect day for a hill climb!

Mount Piper has been on my list of places to visit for quite a while, and what better time to tackle this ascent than on one of the handful of days that, in over nine years, I've never found a Traditional cache?
So, after a lazy day gaming with my international friends, I figured I needed a leg stretch, so arranged to borrow the better half's soft roader and take a drive up the freeway.
And boy, what a leg stretch! Fortunately, unlike our recent foray in Langi Ghiran, there's a trail... which meant it was a quicker kilometre. But still a tough kilometre.
The occupant of the other car in the parking area was gingerly descending the steep bit near the summit, so I stopped to let her pass and say g'day.
Thanks, SuperSirmans. Well worth the effort for the view. The cache was a quick find after I stopped at the trig point for a few photos.
Now for the return journey... I think I'll walk the circuit trail before heading home.

Enjoyed the walk to the summit. Didn't notice many butterflies but saw 2 echidnas, a Scarlet Robin , Spotted Pardalotes and Rufous Whistlers. My pen didn't work but have included some photos.
This walk was a bit tougher than usual today. Lockdown has not been kind to our fitness. But so worth it. Such an amazing view up here
Found on a sunny day after an enjoyable walk. Cache is in good condition. TNLNSL. TFTC!
Definitely worked up a sweat getting up but worth it for the view... nice easy find, thanks
Beautiful 15min walk to the top. Amazing views of the surrounding area. TNLNSL TFTC
I'm so glad there was a cache here. Made the climb even more worthwhile.

With a break in the oppressive heat & an errand to run in Broadford we had a good excuse to get out of the car and hike to the top. Incredible views, a favourite point for me!

Found on 31 October 2019 at 12:34:22 pm. Find #2820. Wow what a view. Great stop for me on way home from working away. Pics do not do justice of such a beautiful view. With my buggered knee and all i managed to battle 35 deg and make it to the top to just sit there for 1/2 hour with the cool breeze and the view to die for!
This def gets a favorite!
Thanks for the adventure SuperSirmans!

Quick and easy find with the help of my garmin. Ascend was easy and descent was quick.
Unfortunately, the log was damp. The zip log bag could be changed to protect the log.

we found it on a cold, windy Wednesday morning. great way to stay occupied on school holidays
Nice cold and cloud covered area. Walk up was good and nice easy find before heading back down. TFTC
Found the new cache and it is within 10m East of the GZ it is hidden in the normal manner. Would say original tree has blown over. Lovely views from the summit. TFTC inspectorrexteam
As we pulled into the car park and stared up at the summit we knew we in for a hike the information sign at the bottom pointed towards the butterflies so the hunt was on not only where we searching for the rare butterflies we were making our way to the top with a stumble here and there a tree climb we made it to the top the views amazing the butterflies breathtaking
Every caching day needs a good leg stretch
This cache promised plenty of that while I chased buterflies.
So in overcast and cool conditions I trotted off up the hill
About half way to the top I looked out to see a curtain of rain rapidly heading my way [:o]
I picked up the pace and arrived at the top just as the rain did
So I dove over to GZ which was on the lee ward side and offered some protection from the rain behind a tree
While sheltering there I found the cache and scribbled in the logbook
As the rain reduced to drizzle,
I scampered back down to find the warmth of the geomobile

Definitely a favourite [^]

Logging a find with the kind permission of the CO. Out and about on a much cooler day than the heat of the last few weeks. We were making our way home northwards after completing the last 29 caches in the Mt Disappointment Driving Lesson series, and a stretch of the legs was needed. A very steep, but pleasant walk amongst the brilliant butterflies to reach the summit of Mt Piper. The cache had not been found since July last year and we have had some interesting weather events since then. We arrived at GZ and started our search. The first thing we found was a CLIP from a Sistema, but no sign of a regular container or a container of any sort. We searched quite a wide area around GZ for at least half an hour and concluded that the container was gone. As we had a small container with us, we decided to replace the cache and placed it back at the base of the tree, with a new log book, pencil and a few swaps. SL at 4.25pm. #5891 Thanks for showing us this fabulous place with all its special butterflies SuperSirmans - what a pity you have moved to Perth and can no longer maintain this cache.
Nearly killed me getting to the top of mt piper but we made it!!!! Cache is very wet inside. Needs maintenance.
Today we walked the summit and circuit tracks, taking in this cache on the way. Great views up here. The caution about which vehicles are taken down the road leading into the park are definitely good to take on board. I did take a 2WD car down here, but it was a bit scary not knowing how bad it was going to get. The cache is generally in good condition but is a bit wet inside. Log book was dry though. Took the TB. TFTC. It was nice to get the added bonus of a cache after walking to the top.
One clip lock is missing, not water tight, cache container needs some TLC.

Had been wanting to climb Mt Piper for a long time and now that I am caching, this was going to tick some boxes. Also a Trig as well For GCA. Had a beautiful day to enjoy a cuppa at the top and enjoy the views, with the butterflies doing their thing. Dropped a TB. A Favorite Point Given. Location, Location, Location. One of the clip locks on the cache is not working.
Thanks **SuperSirmans**

This cache follows in the footsteps of 2 previous caches, “Pied piper” GC6239, from 2002 till 2010 and “Mount Piper”, GC33F81, from 2011 till 2013...
Long may it survive!
But, before it can do that, the lid of the container has one clip missing and it leaks!
Would recommend replacement as the container was wet inside, the log book was remarkably dry but the contents were wet.
I took the time to dry everything up before placing it back in its hide.

I was told of this cache by Clint&Abby who climb Mt piper about a year ago. Great walk up with lots of butterflies about but no idea of what species they were. Great view from the top and fantastic spot to sit and sign the log

I had been here many, many years ago (before GPS had been invented!) The summit of Mt Piper is a pleasant spot with great views, and a good place to enjoy lunch. We saw many butterflies on the way, and lots at the top, but too far off to identify the exact type. Nice size container, so I left a trackable which wants to get back to San Francisco eventually (after seeing the world!)
Had a couple of hours to spare this afternoon so decided to take a drive up to Broadford and collect this long watched cache. Good, hard walk up the hill... I only stopped once . Took a nice long break at the top of the mountain, a few scenic pics, a few selfies. Then I got to searching for the cache. Saw a big wriggly inhabitant near the GZ twice. Squealed like Abby used to when she was 5 years old ... twice. Finally found the cache, and extracted carefully while keeping an eye out for any other wriggly inhabitants. Thanks for bringing me up here SuperSirmans.. love the spot!
[:(!] Thanks for an awesome effort.

Local to home. Thought I would bring family inc 7yo who has not been here dor 4 years. Great walk. Tftc!
Great day for a hike to the top of Mt Piper - the cache is in good shape.
#1033 - This cache peaked my interest as it looked like it involved at least a small walk and I prefer caches that require some effort. I had no idea at the time that it had only been found twice and had some unloved.
Arriving at the Parking co-ordinates, I started along the track for a nice easy but meaningful late afternoon walk up to GZ. There were quite a few butterflies that would take flight when I walked past, the type of which I cannot say.
After arriving at GZ, I took in the fantastic view and found the cache. I had just opened it when I got an unfortunate call from my brother. My dog Cass of just over 15 years was dieing. As there was nothing I could do this far from home, I ended up staying at GZ for quite awhile as the sun disappeared over the horizon.
I did not even realise the blue ants that had crawled up my legs until they reached my arms, no bites to report though. This is a magical spot, many other wildlife including kangaroos, kookaburras and an echidna was spotted as well.
The cache is still in great condition.
This gets a Goat point from me.
Rest in peace Cass, 25th of November 2000 - 27th of November 2015

This is a beautifully presented treasure.
After reading the preamble the action just had to be taken.
Volcanic necks are a bit of an attraction to this banana and this one was new to the knowledge bank.
In addition a lovely collection of rare butterflies.
A hill climb and a little exercise were enough to get the exploration underway.
A lovely view was part of the reward taken along with the rubic cube. Love these things.
Only thing lost was our way on the return as the low technology was not providing good directions. But darkness also contributes to that.
Congratulations of this treasure for so many good things have happened.
Likely to be nominated by bananas as best location in next year's awards.
Be very proud of using this place SuperSirmans
