Went for a walk in central Masterton on a drizzly winters day to pick up three caches all relatively close to each other. Our coords had us wandering around a little bit. The cache couldve been anywhere! Fortunately it didnt take Mrs tbird long to spot it. Mightve taken me somewhat longer! #7652. TFTC.
Second time lucky while visiting Masterton for work. It was pouring last week and I just couldnt spot the cache. It was an easy find this morning, though the cold didnt help the ink in my pen.
Down in Wairarapa for a games weekend with the family, thought Id tick off a few caches while I wait for the motel check in. Nice hide, took me a bit to find Mr 8 legs. TFTC.
came back for another look after seeing it being updated with a quick look we soon had success tftc! no pen though so will photo log
Pretty sure its been muggled and even more confusing due to there being 2 munzees in two different areas.
Pretty sure this is gone. Kapito was still guarding the location but must have gobbled the cache
Dnf, this was hard, I was looking for it by myself moderately busy. Im terrified of spiders , I couldnt see it but there was alot of places to look.
No one around here on the first day of 2024! Found while wandering the town with ozlad. Tftc!
We came up from welly to see the wings over Wairarapa, and were devastated to find out it was cancelled last minute. Might as well do some Geocaching while we're here. This one may be missing. We checked all of incy wincys favorite spots.
Thanks KiwiDragonfly for the cool cache here in central Masterton
I was able to swoop in between muggles and retrieve, although it is tricky to grab from secure hiding spot.
Naturally I TNLNSL, TFTC

Certainly a high muggle area. I spent some time looking in the wrong spot. Then I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. Yay cache found and signed. TFTC
Found during a quick shopping trip in Masterton. Ducked into the lane for a quick search; there weren't too many people around but we did have to look out for the woman serving in Paper Plus - she was facing us through the door. Didn't take long to find, and I was pleased I didn't have to unroll too much of the log!
There was a lady vaping and sitting where my phone was indicating and I had a couple of walks past before checking around her. Once I widened my search radius I spotted the wee naked nano near a mural. Signed up and replaced as found.
I fancied a day out and we identified Masterton/Greytown as our approximate destination. Castlepoint was deemed too far, but that was OK. Managed a few finds in the day and some unexpected shop visits yielded some treats to enjoy that evening (taramasalata) and another time (1st edition Stephen King book). Nice day out, saw some nice stuff, enjoyed a decent drive, and the rain held off. Cheers to all COs.

Parked in the carpark out the back, that is not the way I remember the nursery rhyme but expanded the search area and soon located. TFTC

Passing through on the way to the south island. There were a lot of muggles around, but they were busy having a good natter, and ignored me. Took a while to locate the little critter. Thanks for hiding KiwiDragonfly
A nice quick find while out searching for a lunch spot open on a public holiday. A nice little alley way, good excuse to stop in the shade a while. Many thanks for the cache
A nice quick find, though there were 2 places that needed a search. A Fav Point for the location and the smile I had when I made the find. Thanks for placing and maintaining your cache.
Ms_KR and I are off on our annual pilgrimage to Auckland to visit family. Today we cruised up to Napier from Greytown. Rain and drizzle were the name of the game today, dodging showers all the way.
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

On our way to Mataikona for a "Time-out" weekend. While Maggie's_Mum is shopping across the road I'm hunting out this sneaky little hide. But no problem here except the log is full. I'll replace it when I'm returning home in a couple of days as I have a spare not on me... in my kit in the car. TFTC
Stayed the night in a tent at Carnival Park Pahiatua. After this mornings event, I went down to Masterton. Thanks KiwiDragonfly for the cache.
Was in one of old home towns to visit family and of course had to attempt at one least cache. As the family went into a nearby shop I wasn't interested in I opened up cachly and found this cache. Took a few minutes to find but given the hint there was only a couple of places it could have been. TFTC.
Nice quick find here today cache is in good condition. Thanks for hiding the cache. Great hint.
We failed to find this cache on a previous visit three years ago, but today we managed to spot the cache almost immediately, although retrieval took a little longer. TFTC
Picking up a few caches on our way home after long weekend. Located fairly quickly, took a long time to retrieve and replace due to heavy muggle traffic. Great hide!
Thanks!
Thanks!
thanks, this was a quick find today after needing to abandon with too many muggles around last time we visited. TFTC
Fantastic extended caching weekend with evilC! We decided to get dinner nearby, and there was a cache! What a sneaky hide, but we got it! Nice one for the end of the day. TFTC!!
Food was beckoning but Hinemoana's GPSr pointed us down a dark lane instead - nobody else was around and the last find of the day was made. Thanks!
I sat and I thought and thought some more after assessing the hint and previous finds. Then straight to it! TFTC!
Thankfully it’s a quiet Sunday and not a lot of muggles around. Log full so signed on number 22 which had really faded. TFTC.
Didn't have to disturb the 8 legged mugglers and found the cache quick enough, good hiding spot we thought, tftc
After coffee in one of the nearby cafes one of us detoured to find this cache while the other checked out the Paper Plus store. Not too many muggles around this morning so we were able to make a quick find in an obvious spot
Tricky tricky tricky! Searched for this cache in the area that I thought it would be in which turned up nothing. Searched for a further 10 minutes and still nothing. Decided to call it and went on to our next target.
Right before heading home decided to give it one last shot and went back. Somehow I went straight to the right area, and straight to the right spot.
Eureka! TFTC! Favourite heart for the cleverness

I had a few hours to spare as we were in Masterton today for my wife and daughter to meet up for a shopping trip. While they shopped I travelled the town and district finding a few caches, concentrating on some DNFs from our last visit.
Interesting how the passage of a bit of time can make a difference and turn a DNF into an instant find. Back in September this one had me stumped: when I'd got back home and had read through some logs by previous finders I had wondered if I was being misled by both the hint and the Garmin and had come up with a theory as to where the cache might be and what it would be like. So this time around I ignored the Garmin and headed for the hiding spot I'd envisaged. I poked my finger in to probe around and sure enough, there was the expected type of cache in exactly the expected place! Found in seconds!
Retrieval wasn't a problem: although there were plenty of muggles around I wasn't doing anything obvious, working by feel, not sight, and nobody was looking at me anyway. And then as I had the cache in my hand, looking along the lane at the street beyond, I saw my wife and daughter walking along the footpath. I called out to them and discovered they were about to head for lunch in the cafe across the road. What a coincidence that was! All I had to do was sign the log, re-roll the scroll and replace the cache, then I could join them. However, there was a snag. Whilst there had been no muggles looking my way when I found the cache, by the time I wanted to return it there were two standing there looking right at the hiding spot. So I pocketed the cache and headed across the road for lunch, hoping that there wouldn't be anybody trying to find the cache in the few minutes that it would be MIA.
With a hot pie and a cup of hot chocolate safely tucked away I headed back to GZ and was happy to see that all muggles in the alleyway had gone by then and the coast was clear for the cache replacement. Very satisfied with being able to safely retrieve and replace this cache during a weekday lunch hour without anyone noticing, and very happy with turning a DNF into a smiley, my second for the day (and also second by CO today too). Many thanks KiwiDragonfly for placing this challenging cache here and giving me an opportunity for a totally unexpected family get-together for lunch.

Quite a few people about today, as it was lunchtime, but I still had a fair few minutes searching back and forth for any crevice or hole that might be able to hide a cache that you could still get to, but found nothing. It may not have helped that the Garmin never said I was closer than 7 metres to GZ, no matter where I went, implying it was in the middle of the building, but only to be expected in an alleyway in town.
Persistance paid off. Took 10 min or more to find the hidely hole but got there.
Here on a damp day last chance to get free rides by train from home in Petone.

Apologies for the late log... Found this one with lucypear after taking the train while it was free to explore Masterton. I was so sure it wasn't there! A fun find dodging mugglers.
Kyb3r and I took the train from Wellington to Masterton for the day. With no plans, we decided to find some caches to fill the time until the train back. I was pretty sure I knew exactly where this was but the hint gave me the heebie jeebies so I got Kyb3r to look but he said it wasn't there. I was certain it would be so got him to look again and second time lucky for us
Enjoying a great day caching with MightyMicra. Took a long while to locate, but got it eventually. TFTC.
First time in ages I've managed to beat the kids to finding a cache! Good thing about 8.30am on.a Sunday morning is no muggles.
This was the second time we’d gone to look for this. Having read some logs I decided to ignore the GPS and just use geocaching common sense, this paid off as I found the sneaky tiny hide. Great cache, TFTC
Fortunately we decided to look for this one early in the day as we can see it would be very difficult later in the day with muggles coming and going.
There were still a few muggles but long gaps between them when we could search undetected and we were pleased to spot the cache quickly.
Interesting spot. TFTC.

Had the gps bounce but it finally got me focused on the cache took a little longer than I had hoped TFTC
Loved the murals, and the insect life! Took a few minutes to find, even though we guessed what to look for TFTC and FP
With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
We have been planning for Queen's Birthday weekend for some time - routes and caches were identified and mapped, and Gap solved a whole lot of puzzles in readiness for this adventure. We scoured many online logs and took note of the condition of the caches and their logbooks. We determined to replace any containers and logbooks where there was a dire need - This is not usually our habit and is quite time consuming; but we are enthusiastic cachers and believe in doing our bit for the wider caching community...
When nightfall arrives in winter, it comes quickly. By the time we pulled into Masterton, it was dark and rain was falling. We had no trouble finding our accommodation on the outskirts of town. Masterton seems to be quite a compact little town in the car headlights... After dinner, thoughts turned to continued caching... We scanned the geomap and the closest to us was William Street. The little lane was very quiet at this time of night. There were a lot of hiding options in here, and we had the freedom to scan the obvious objects. We came very close to the point of quitting. As is our custom, we took one more sweep and made a discovery that blew the search wide open... Thanks KiwiDragonfly and TFTC.

Day 2 of our Road Trip
Early start today, weather fine but very cold.
Heading south we detoured up side roads, some sealed some gravel.
Caches like yesterday that needed log sheets replacing as they were so wet we couldn't sign them. Just as well we bought new log sheets and bags with us.
The huge numbers of caches in this area we know that we will have to return on another trip.
Always great to visit new areas. Thanks for the cache placements. SLTFTC

Some local work has been going on here, causing me to delay replacing the cache. Back in the game today.
didn't see the disabled log, that can be removed, the cache is in place, Incy Wincy Spider was missing but thats a good thing, tftc
Although we concentrated on an item suggested by the hint, we were unable to find this obviously sneaky hide.

A very tricky cache to find, but eventually came up with the goods.
Took nothing, left nothing.
Thanks for this geocache experience here today and greeting from Australia.

Found on a brief trip to Masterton. We'll be back over this way to get more some time in the future. TFTC.
Surprised this one hasn't been muggled!
Found on a little walk around the centre of Masterton with a friend visiting from Germany!
Thanks for the cache
