Has to destroy a small wasp nest first and then was a relatively quick find of both containers. Cache all good. Thanks
#770Gave my friends a head start so they could destroy the wasp's nest guarding the Gabion. It was a bit of a gambol, but I managed to locate both caches in the first place I looked.
Tftc Started on the upper deck which was not the best call, managed to anger a couple of wasps in the process.Found without too much bother, both containers living the dream
Found one of the two containers that are apparently here and signed that. Hopefully we found the right one! First stop today, a nice easy find to start the day. Tftc
Filling in time around the airport and stopped here to have a look. There are two caches at GZ -I signed the dry one! The other is too wet to write on. Thanks for placing this.
#13,392. I was in the area doing the challenge cache and decided to have another go at this one. My previous attempt was rushed as I had a flight to catch. This time I was more methodical. Finally spotted it in a place I don't think I looked last time. Low down. Not sure if its fallen out of its original spot. Pleased to signed the log and replace as found. Thanks G-2 for another of your fun caches. Glad to have this one done as not a fan of gabion walls.
Heute war der letzte Tag in NZ bevor es wieder nach Deutschland zurückgeht.
Wir haben den Tag genutzt um den ein oder anderen Cache zu suchen. Dieser war einer davon.

As we were in the area, it would have be rude not to give this hide another go. Since Mr Geckoh had been really on a great finding streak so far, we were hoping his cache finding senses weren't going to fail him now. Arriving at GZ we gritted our teeth and went in for another go, fortunately after about five minutes Mr Geckoh spied the elusive little beggar and we could finally turn this blue face upside down and make it a yellow face!! We left GZ feeling rather chuffed. TFTC

If I had some gardening tool with me and more than ten minutes I spent searching for it I might have had success. I gave up and went onto others. There was a lot of dead flat leaves.. do they need cleaning out for me to find?
It was getting dark so I knew I wouldn’t have long.
I realized it was probably in a Gabion wall when I arrived and I have to admit, it’s my absolutely least favorite place to look for a cache…
I gave it a poke around, but gave up relatively quickly.
Thanks anyway!

That was fun! I was nearly gonna give up then saw it innocently sitting there. Love the camo. Thanks
Found two caches next to eachother don't know what that was about but good hide tftc
Out today on a GC bike hunt with M12 and M23 to boost our numbers and clean up this area

Read Capperz log and thought it might take some time. Found it very quickly and was feeling smug as I put it back.......and noticed a second cache next to it. Signed both as HP family.
Took a little while to find, backwards and forwards for a bit before the cache revealed itself. I think I saw a slinging defective near GZ, not shore though.
Day 3/3 and a double aspect to this day. First up a trip to Lake Wainamu along with youngest daughter to do the harder of the Earthcaches, taking measurements, coordinate readings and some up and down the dunes. After dropping her back home for her to go to work this afternoon I headed back out to the waterworks over by the airport to redeem some previous DNFs and all. Thanks to all COs for their caches and efforts.
I was out caching for the first 3 days of this week, racking up over 12kms walked on each of the three days, and getting healthy double-figure hauls in the process too. In line with the NZ Geocache Reviewers guidance on what Covid Level 3, Part 1 looks like, geocaching is permitted but not events or any new listings. It seems the NZ Covid website has failed to maintain pace with Lockdown level amendments and changes and is still lumping Geocaching in with Orienteering and other gathering type activities. Found it had to work out what a Gabion was first. Searched in wrong area but got there.
Took the kids and had a great time playing in rocks on nearby bridge! Forgot pen.thoughnso didnt write in log.
Thx

Thanks for the education. Added the word 'gabion' to my vocabulary! Gonna use it from now on.
Just too good a hide for us today - couldn't spend too much time as we were on a mission for our last day in Auckland this long weekend. But we will be back ...
Got a poke in the eye but happy to find it.Fl Found with our doggo on our park and grab mish today. Tftc
A beautiful spot. Easy to find the location but too many hidey holes for the cache. Got there in the end.
Out to take daughter back to airport and filling in a little time beforehand (never know what the traffic is going to do and missing a plane is no fun) so a spot of caching was in order. After finidng the cache we were first looking at is in a no dog zone we walked here. So many places to hide a cache. In the end it was GAR who found the container. Thanks for the hide G-2!
Find number 6472. Another visit to look for this one. I searched high and low for some time before I finally spotted it. Thankful I signed the log. Thank you for the placement.
Less than two hours to kill before returning the rental car and flying to Europe.
We wanted to make a last visit to a historic site but the road to the main entrance was closed, we will park on the parking lot near the toilets.
This morning, the sky is overcast... sad to see us leave?
After a few minutes of searching, we will not find the cache [xx(]

Thanks G_2 for the geocache [^]

This one took us quite some time... Lots of possible hidings places, but we made it more difficult than it could have been. And as the last log mentions, there seem be two caches hidden in here...Glad we found at least one of them (the one that has last been signed in April)... Found together with Greenkiwikids and Piratenschatzsucher and signed as team Piraten. Tftc
Out and about to find some clues for the Mystery at the Museum challenge. We enjoyed strolling along this nice waterway. So quiet and beautiful. This was quite a difficult hide, or at least we made it difficult by searching lots of more secluded places before making our way back to the actual hiding place...
Thanks for bringing us here. Tftc.

This one gets obvious as soon as you have found it. Until then it is hard. Tftc
Flew into Auckland and had the whole afternoon free. Decided to take a circular walk to Mangere and pick up some smiley faces. GPS was spot on here which was fortunate as there were so many hiding places. Went low. TFTC
I have looked for this one previously, but with a stroke of luck it was in the first place I checked today, TFTC
First one up for us today and what a lovely little spot we have turned up to! Took us quite a hunt to find this cache but only because we made it more difficult than it needed to be! We had a bit of trouble getting the log paper out so sat and watched the nearby river to complete the formalities. Tftc
Spot on - exact where it should be according our GPS device. Last cache before going back to Christchurch.
Was hoping to park at the other nearby reserve today and go walking/caching from there but as we approached we soon realised the festival we had seen the signs for was taking place there. So we turned around and found a new parking spot. This cache was right next to it so took a look.Searched for a while here as plenty of hiding spots but then had a thought were we would hide it and there it was.Very nicely camouflaged.
Previous finder did not write in the log. We did! Nice find and good camo! TFTC!
I parked the car in the nearby walkway park so that I could walk in either dIrection and still be able to dash back to the car if the weather turned. I headed off to this cache first and it did take me a while to spot it. I didn't end up with any other caches nearby as the rain did come down. I drove closer to the trail of caches leading to Puketutu Island waiting for the rain to stop again. TFTC
It was an early 4am start to snag a flight to Auckland and a few hours hanging around before snagging another flight to Raro - Our destination for a week caching. So lets explore around the airport while waiting.
A rock wall to explore. Had this one bagged and tagged in no time flat. Cheers. Now to check out that sculpture over the road. Very interesting but no info as to its origin.

Got the early morning flight into Auckland, and have the late afternoon flight out, so Taybeedragon and I are killing time with geocaching. We walked for hours! Stopped here along the way.
Expected a wall crawl (to use a term I learned geocaching in Christchurch). Was not disappointed. Between the two of us it was not much trouble. the sharp eyes of the dragon win again!

Didnt try this cache as there were signs near GZ saying no trespassing so decided to move on maybe next time
It seems like we are able to get some difficult ones quite easily, yet we miss ones that everyone says are easy. Hmmmm. If I could give bonus points to hayleyfcy for a great, quick spot, I would. Also, it's not possible. She just had to settle for a job well done.
I couldn't see why this would be tricky but michaelteacher wasn't surprised by the previous DNFs . He identified GZ pretty quickly with the description and exclaimed out to me while I was elsewhere looking on my phone. Walked towards it and "oh I got it!" My eye was drawn to the cache straight away as it stood out even though it blended in (the irony haha). Forgot our pen so michaelteacher had to run back to the car. Tftc
This cache was found during 45km bike trip in the area. Log was signed as .. to celebrate year 2018 as an universal 11 Master Number. Nice park and grab. Especially when you can park bicycle within 1m from GZ. Unfinished business brought me back here (DNF). It was my third attempt on Gambol on Gabion... UFF UFF UFF - done and dusted. Coordinates spot on the only thing was to get right view on cache. FP awared for time spent in this place ... TFTC
Out with Merlot58 enjoying the nice weather. This one took awhile, but eventually was located. Tricky hide. Log was full, so added some waterproof paper.
Came here this morning in the pre-dawn darkness to pick this one up to continue my daily streak (Day #220). Knew what to look for but in the darkness, couldn't quite see it. Eventually spied it and the cache was quickly in hand. TFTC
I parked nearby to use the facilities so as this was so close I had to pop up and get it. I usually struggle with gabion walls but thankfully co-ords were spot on and I made a quick find
I now know just why our relationship is so rocky?!!
Took a bit to find this well camouflaged and sneaky cache.
Both of us spent a little more time than we wanted tracking this container down.
Made our mark, but the logbook is full. Thanks for the challenging hide.

#177 have found another gabion wall cache out my way so knew what to look for, just not where! All sorts of books and crannies and moving pieces but I found it in the end... TFTC!
Murphy’s law decided to kick in while we were searching so we looked everywhere it wasn’t before finally locating it’s hiding spot. Thanks for another great hide G-2, a perfect spot for a cache.
Found with the kids during a cycling and caching adventure. A quick description of geotechnical solutions and they quickly got us to GZ for the find. TFTC!!
Our initial search was cut short by a passing shower. Once that had cleared we were back and Kiwiscot soon spotted the hide. Easy part done. Now to try and retrieve the cache which had become jammed. Scottie & Kiwiscot with their smaller hands managed to get the cache moving slightly with lots of wiggling. After about five minutes it was free. Log signed. Hopefully we have put it back in place in a way that it is easier for the next cacher to retrieve. TFTC
Pretty quick find this morning with eltee291. The hard part was getting it out of it's hiding spot. Was pushed quite far in but I got it after a couple minutes. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for the cache!
Fairly quick find today with hingis20. Had to work at getting at the log for this one though. We just arrived in NZ this morning from Victoria, BC, Canada to start 3 weeks of vacation - including geocaching of course. My third time here and I am just loving it. TFTC
8 out of 8 for the day so far with PHILBIRDBOYS. Very pleased to have found this one as quickly as we did, could've been a nightmare! TFTC.
Turned up here at 6:30 this morning, and there was already a car here! Grabbed 3 caches, and by the time I walked back the to car there were 6 of them in the car park! people are up sooo early! Cache in good condition.
I can't work out the name of the cache
I was gamboling
But where does the Gabon come into it ??
Gabon is a country in Africa
No roads or rivers around here that I can find on me map are called Gabon !!
But I could gab-on all night
