We reviewed the Camp Hill area today. While the road has now re-opened, the fires of February this year have burnt a large proportion of the area.We had already re-enabled the unburnt Camp Hill caches 1 to 4. But from CH5 on, many of the caches had been burnt, with nowhere suitable now to hide replacements in the fire-ravaged landscape. So we have made the decision to archive caches 5 through to 12. They have been here for nearly 10 years and have been enjoyed by many. Caches 1 to 4 will remain though.
Sections of Camp Hill Road are still closed to traffic, therefore these caches remain disabled until road closures are lifted.
This section of Camp Hill Road has suffered fire damage from the February 22 bushfires. Caches along here have either been burnt and/or are still within local road closures. Assessment and clearing of fire-damaged trees is still in progress. Will review in a month.
Important Notice:While the major fire front has been suppressed, there is still fire activity in the area in the form of smouldering stumps and trees. Local agencies are still attending to hot spots, falling trees and road damage, and may be doing so for the next few weeks. Many roads are still closed or are open for local resident access only.PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND ANY CACHE THAT HAS BEEN DISABLED DUE TO THE BUSHFIRES, regardless of whether you think it is safe or not. Any 'Found It' logs while this cache is disabled for this reason will be subsequently deleted. We will check out each location and arrange re-enabling of caches as access and safety allows.Thank you for your understanding.Jo and Glen (chooknchunk)
This cache is an an area subject to fire fighting operations (22-23 Feb) and may have been impacted by the fire. It has been disabled until it is safe for the CO is able to check the current condition of the cache.
I was heading to Beaufort for the Goodbye 2023 celebration event and arrived with enough time to hit this trail first. Yep. Got it.My thanks for the cache, chooknchunk.
I'm catching up on a few outstanding logs. The cache was found in the open and replaced in a likely spot. Thanks to chooknchunk for the cache.
Coordinates were great and lead me straight to the spot where all I had to do was look down and there it was. TFTC
Decided on a run out this way again and to have a go at this series. A great drive through the forest on what was a great day. Managed to find all in the series, plus a few others and all were in good condition.
No problems here and the cache was soon in hand.
Thanks again chooknchunk....look forward to exploring a bit more.

Cache returned to position today, following the All Clear on the recent planned burn.
The area was well cleared but luckily the original hide has managed to survive the flames.

The burn has been completed and is being patrolled but not yet marked as safe.
Will return caches once it is cleared to do so.

Update:
While DELWP didn't burn in Feb as they planned, we now have another burn notice for this area for this coming week. Caches will remain removed and disabled until this burn is complete.

It's a bit sooner than we thought, but DWELP are planning to burn again in this area from tomorrow. So the cache has been removed again.
Planned burn now declared safe. They only burnt the Larkens Road section, so no doubt they will finish off the targeted area when safe to burn again at some time down the track. In the meantime, the cache has been returned to position and is now back in play.
Cache has been disabled and removed temporarily, due to planned burn in the area.
I decided to do a road trip along the Great Ocean Road this week. It’s been a long time since I travelled along this area and it was certainly before I was into caching! As the week nears an end it was time to head back, taking the long way home via a day in Beaufort and some events in Ballarat tomorrow.
Geosenses led the way to this find. Singing all the way, animals running for their lives. The hills were definitely not alive with the sound of good music today!
Thanks chooknchunk for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

After a good weekend in Avoca and the surroundings enjoying the company of other Geocachers and, of course, finding quite a few caches, we headed home to the Bellarine Peninsula. It was a lovely crisp clear morning for the second morning in a row, and it boded well for caching. Mrs Dromaniax had spoken to Mr chooknchunk on the weekend and had discussed this series, so we decided to complete this series on the way home. The series is in lovely bushland North of Beaufort. There was a profusion of Pink and White Heath, Drosera, Correas and that beautiful but very prickly wattle in the area. This cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache and series chooknchunk.
TFTC Chooknchunk. Still have ABBA in my head. Lucky for Shumba7, i only karaoke on the inside.
TFTC. Again I didn’t get this one, until bright spark Algae had to explain it to me
We decided to go for a Sunday drive with the geopups to this lovely area. Having not cached for sometime it was good to get out.
With Waterloo Track just opposite Waterloo is now stuck in my head
Thanks chooknchunk
Great to have good size containers to be able to leave a swap.

Again, enjoying roaming around while Snips & CO’s sat nav works better. Nicely shady today. Thanks
We found two caches here: Yours and a mysterious large, white canister nestled in a tree nearby. The label says vinegar, which it does not seem to contain. However, it is half-full with a clear liquid. Whoever 'hid' it here, clearly did not expect cacher eyes to notice that something is going on.
We watched an echidna cross the road, which then proceeded to partake in a meal of (apparently delicious) ants.

Oh we have had a fun day out caching today. We had the smallest of The Friendly Fords with us and newcomers The Pandas learning the ropes. Cold, misty, rainy, muddy. What more could 5 kids 5-13yrs ask for?Upon the previous discovery, Mum Panda and Mum BertieBeetle were reading the description for this cache. Learning the name 'Karaoke Time' we both broke into our own weird rendition of Camptown Races for some reason haha!! However, on arrival at this location we soon broke out our own renditions of prehaps a more popular tune, serenading the trees, and the kids running to get out of earshot ;P Thanks ChooknChunk for another great day!! And for the cache.
On my way back to Beaufort after Musical Gully. This log needs a new zip lock back. It is torn.
Re-enabling now the Victorian Covid19 restrictions say we can "participate in some recreational activities, adhering to the rules". Please use common sense, maintain social distancing, attend to hand hygiene and stay safe.
Temporarily disabling this cache due to the Corona Virus.

We were already singing along with Dire Straits on the radio when we got to this cache so didn't end up changing tunes. The ziplok bag has been better days but we couldn't imagine any moisture getting in here anytime soon. TFTC

My first day of a three day road trip through Western Victoria to grab a few caches. After a long drive out to Carlisle River to tick off a target for the challenge to find a cache in each page of the Victorian Country Road Atlas I headed towards Ballarat to try some challenge caches followed by the Xmas Down Under puzzle series. After that it was on towards Beaufort and I had time enough to try this series before coincidentally meeting the CO team for dinner at the local pub. Couldn't escape if I wanted to! I would visit the actual Waterloo to cache the following day. Took nothing. left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache and the series chooknchunk.
This morning I made my way from Ararat to Beaufort collecting the odd cache here and there.
After completing the COs wherigo series 2 months ago I wanted to have a go at this series today, it was a nice drive along the road picking up the caches along the way, some were clever and made it that bit more interesting. All the caches are in good condition.

Out after the mega event. Day 87 of our trip. Caching along the way. A total of 30 for the day and 2537 for the trip. TFTC
Found while touring through the area. Tftc tnln. Love the plant diversity here.
Heading out to Beaufort for work and having not been through here before what better thing to do than pick from some of the many caches available. After grabbing a few of the nearby musical series I was running out of time before I needed to head for home. But as all cachers will know, the lure of just one more is hard to resist so I had to dip my toe into the Camp Hill series as well. I found five of them before I finally relented and pointed the car homewards. Thanks for the cache chooknchunk, a beautiful area to go caching.
A nice little series, showcasing the bush on camp hill...
All were quick to find, save for #2 which I Dnfd...

After camping in Beaufort on the CO's farm; myself, Day1976, my sister Nakarra and Day's son Jo ventured out as team JIND. After finishing the nearby wherigos, we decided to do this lot of caches also, in our aim to get to 70 today.
Having camped at the chooknchunk's place the night before, Ilukaperi, her sister, my son Yeah09 and myself awoke reasonably early and after coffee, breakfast and packing up we hit the road by about 8:30am. Our goal for the weekend was to find 70 caches, but having only found 3 yesterday, we all thought that finding 67 today might be a tall order. Happy to say we achieved that, plus a few extra as well to give us a grand total of 70 for today and 3 yesterday.
Having finished the nearby wherigos, we looked towards Beaufort and developed a strategy to grab them all. Enjoyed a bit of 4WDing in parts and got some mud splattered on the Disco. Ilukaperi's plastic tubs of food in the back didn't fair so well. All of these caches were races between the four of us to see who could find it first. Most of these races were won by ilukaperi's sister, who's eye seemed to be in tune with finding today. The boys were seriously letting the team down in the finds department though.

With nineteen down before lunch - a feed of fish n chips in the tummies - your caches were calling our names again. Wondering around the area with Honeysucker today. Thanks chooknchunk for the day filled with laughter. This is number 29 for the day.

Stayed in Beaufort last night and went out on a caching run today with ilook4geo. It turned out to be a fine day despite last night's rain. Our second aim was the Camp Hill road series. This was a lovely bush wander with some wildflowers just starting to bloom.
This trail following Camp Hill Road was also an interesting one. No problems with any of the caches in this series.
Thank you to chooknchunk for placing all these caches. Well done.

Find #3604**
**Traditional Cache Find #2442**
The day dawned fine and cool. SteMicMitSar, Jascat, Buhfuhgah and I headed over to the other side of the bay to attend two events and to find a number of new Wherigos at Beaufort. As we approached the first of this series, we The Tritonz parked at GZ. We teamed up and found the entire series in just under an hour.
It was gratifying to be able to answer the questions up to and including the early 80's, after that, Google had to be employed. We found these trads as we made our way back to Beaufort and one of the events we had come here to attend.

Today I headed out on a bit of a road trip to Beaufort and then Geelong for a couple of events as well as the new musical note Wherigo caches with jascat, biggles1024 and buhfuhguh.
The musical note series had now been complete and it was time to bid farewell to The_Tritonz and GemmaSistema as we headed along camphill road before heading to the event.
The Kookaburras where certainly having a good old sing along near this one or was it a good laugh at as, they where surrounding us.

Ah, what a day, after an early rise this morning I drove to meet up with Stemicmitsar, Biggles1024 and Jascat for a day of caching out west. With our main goal being 2 events and some musical wherigos. A rather big day nevertheless. With us finishing our hunt and me getting home from the trip at 2am this morning. Anyways thanks for putting this cache out and being apart of a great day.
After finishing the wherigo series the crew realized that we still had ample time to go out and find some caches before the event in town starts...... so with time to kill we decided to pick up some trads before we grab lunch at the event. Anyways thanks for the cache and the adventure

On a few occasions, Ninny Muggins and I have tried to organise a day of caching, but other plans have always got in the way. But today the plans came together as we made our way to Beaufort to Celebrate International Caching Day with an event and some great caches around Beaufort. All 30 caches located with no DNF’s on a perfect day with blue sky.
