A nice quick find here. Admittedly I was looking for a landmark so I initially drove past before reading the description and understanding what I would be looking for. A rather large mob of Roos joined me for the find here. Thanks for the cache
Nice quick find and also managed to see a few Big kangaroos up on the ridge line! TFTC!!
More history ............ 800 pupils ! Wow ! Anyway a good clean find before continuing on a bit of a circuit back to town. All good with the contents.
We checked on this area yesterday and are now satisfied that this cache can be safely re-enabled.
Important Notice:While the major fire front has been suppressed, there is still fire activity in the area in the form of smouldering stumps and trees. Local agencies are still attending to hot spots, falling trees and road damage, and may be doing so for the next few weeks. Many roads are still closed or are open for local resident access only.PLEASE DO NOT ATTEMPT TO FIND ANY CACHE THAT HAS BEEN DISABLED DUE TO THE BUSHFIRES, regardless of whether you think it is safe or not. Any 'Found It' logs while this cache is disabled for this reason will be subsequently deleted. We will check out each location and arrange re-enabling of caches as access and safety allows.Thank you for your understanding.Jo and Glen (chooknchunk)
This cache is an an area subject to fire fighting operations (22-23 Feb) and may have been impacted by the fire. It has been disabled until it is safe for the CO is able to check the current condition of the cache.
All quiet near GZ early in the afternoon and a quick find. Thanks to chooknchunk for the cache.
On a day out with deanside and tenkae, our main target was a nearby golden oldie but we couldn't resist doing others on the way in this wonderful area. This one was a quick find, thanks, on a day full on laughter and enjoying the great outdoors.
Spending a wonderful day caching with great friends Tenkae and ConnieandRick. Lots of great roads, scenery and laughsThanks chooknchunk for bringing me here and contributing to this great game for others to enjoy. Happy trails, Deanside
Headed out on a run up to Lexton, then down through Beaufort and back to Ballarat, with this my next stop in the area. Probably should have grabbed this one after wateryou instead of heading to the cemetery first. Didn't make that much difference, so all was well that ended well. Good size cache, which was found in good condition.
Thanks again guys....never knew how big the place back in the gold days.

School was definitely out for me today which is why I had the time to find this cache. TFTC
Fascinating and interesting old history - on my way to Musical Gully so of course stopped by. Tftc and the Fun
Today I’m heading to Musical Gully to turn a musical note into smiley faces, if all goes well.
But there is always time to stop and grab a few random caches on the way.
School has been out for a number of years

Today we had a leisurely start in Beaufort getting ready for our trip back to SA. The Junior colts were well into their game before we left the lake side caravan park.
Off to Waterloo for a few caches and AL. Then off to do the musical wherigos which we had so much fun solving last night whilst drinking a lot of wine and singing along to Jimmy Barnes.
Quick lunch at the footy oval before heading onwards to Taylor’s Lake for our last night camping, the serenity here is lovely.
Plenty of caches found during today what a bonus and still no rain to spoil our trio how lucky are we?
Thanks to all the CO for the great hides and the Victorian cachers foe looking after the hides my SA counterparts could taje a leaf out of their book.
Nice big hide here TFTC chooknchunk

Made a quick find on my second full day geocaching around Raglan. I think it has been out for a while,. the school that is. . TFTC.
Sun shining, no muggles around. Nice spot. Hard to believe there were about 800 kids attending a school out here. Good history.
On the hunting trail again with SeasonedBird. TFTC chooknchunk

Day #12 of the Birthday Bush Bonanza. After a quick stop over in Goroke over night it was off to Horsham and then towards Ballarat for the day.
Having completed musical gully it was time to finish off a couple of local caches before heading off to setup camp. A quick find at this old school site.
Thanks chooknchunk for the cache and for contributing to the game.

**Traditional Find #2980**
I headed out with Steve to Avoca to target some of Victoria's 500 oldest caches.
The weather was perfect all day but once in the bush, our progress was hindered and then stopped a number of times by branches and entire trees that had been downed by last week's storm.

*Cache find # 11909.*
A day out with biggles1024 and after spending a bit of time driving around the tracks in the Mt. Avoca area finding some of the first 500 Victorian caches, we were now heading towards home via the Mt. Cole area for a few other caches.
It was getting a bit late in the day to head further into Mt. Cole for the first 500 caches, they will be another day so now it was time to head for home but as we were passing this one it would of been a bit rude not to stop for a look so we did, the cache was found and the log signed, we then continued on our way.

Another school gone, i can remember in the late 60's [ does that show my age ] how many small schools were still operating. TFTC
Like all the school kids in days gone by we took the short cut to school this afternoon. Luckily we had a 4WD, or we may have got bogged! This is about the time school gets out, but we are on holidays so we don’t have to worry. SL at 3.24pm #8129 TFTC chooknchunk - time to keep heading in a homeward direction.
We are staying in Avoca to clear out our shop so that we can sell it and buy and fit out a van to travel around Australia as Digital Grey Nomads. As it was raining, we couldn't pack a trailer, so we decided to head around the area and grab some caches. We headed towards Ballarat thinking the Geotour meetup was today. We made the most of it, though, when we had arrived at the Rotunda and realised it was tomorrow. We had realised by its time we had a reasonable chance of finding fifty caches for the day so we thought of picking up all three in Waterloo on the way back to Avoca. The internet was dodgy here but we ad enough to find the cache. This cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache chooknchunk
John as excited as a little school boy ran up the hill to fetch the cache . Love the history. Thankyou!
It seems like forever ago since AusFox; Neville_devil and I had made it out for a big day of caching. AusFox; had his eye on some unloved days that had been building on some caches on Mt Cole so that was our destination for the adventure.
Our initial target caches had been acquired for the day so it was time to wander aimlessly where ever the map and caches took us for a while.
AusFox; made the quick find here.
Thank you chooknchunk for the cache

First time in a while that I’ve been out caching with SimsFamily and Neville Devil for the usual laughs, insults and amazing locations regardless that the white beast has height issues.
We headed for Mt Cole to start the day, then on to Waterloo, Beaufort and Rokewood and everywhere in between which made for great locations and hides which made for a great day out.
I used my Geo senses to locate the hide for a quick find.
Log signed and replaced as found

Other than cemeteries, we think that old school sites are probably the most prolific of historical sites that we venture to. It is quite incredible how many places just don't exist anymore. Thanks for the cache.
After a crazy year, it’s time to get away for a bit of R&R, and of course a cache or two.
Day four.
What an ace location for a school! I really like this tree-lined road.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, chooknchunk

On our way to another cache and this one presented itself as an easy grab -although not for Snips & Co who’s wearing things. It’s hot. Damn hot!
No owner to be seen but I would like to thank him for sharing this piece of history with us TFTC
This was a very large school, no idea where they all came form to attend school. SL TFTC
School's out indeed, hard to belive there used to be such a big school here.
As we were signing the log, a motorbike rider rode past and gave us a wave. Friendly folk in the country!

In the Beaufort area hunting caches today and after completing the Musical Gully series had enough time to see what else was around and this one was next. Parked and followed the GPSr until a likely spot was spotted and the cache was in hand. Thanks to chooknchunk for this one
In this gorgeous part of the world to do the Musicak Gully caches. This is a great start to the day!
Re-enabling now the Victorian Covid19 restrictions say we can "participate in some recreational activities, adhering to the rules". Please use common sense, maintain social distancing, attend to hand hygiene and stay safe.
Temporarily disabling this cache due to the Corona Virus.
Geocaching is not "essential travel".

All quiet out here today,
and the cache was quickly found
But I am amazed by the size of the skool !! [:o]
Most of these long closed skool sites that I visit,
had maximum enrolments of 40 or less,
and just a single teacher to edumacate the mob
But 800 is a huge number of kids !!
Why is there nothing left to show where this skool was,
except a cache ?

Time to head home and find more caches along the way. Trigger_Fish has a plan in his head, I'm along for the comic relief.
Having a break from the Musical Gully series. You have to wonder where the 800 kids came from!

We had a great time finding some cool chooknchunk series north of Beaufort but now it was time to head back home. We grabbed some caches along the way, going the 'scenic route'. Seems the school is still out! Thanks for the cache chooknchunk.

We wish that we had a dollar for every old school site that we have visited since starting geocaching. We would be able to put more fuel into the car and go look for more.
It was quite interesting information on the cache page and doing the math's it means that the class sizes were between 80 to 100 pupils in each class. It's quite different to the amount allotted per teacher in the school system today.
It's hard to imagine what this area must have looked like in it's heyday as today it just looks like a sleepy farming community.
The cache itself was a nice easy find in a logical location and the log book now contains our name.
No neighbour around today so we didn't wave.
Thanks chooknchunk for the cache.

My second day of a three day road trip through Western Victoria to grab a few caches. After knocking off the Musical Gully wherigo series nice and early I headed east to pick up the road to St Arnaud. Still had time to stop for the three caches here in Waterloo (whilst humming the ABBA song of course). This was the first stop and all seemed pretty quiet in the area as I parked close by and made a quick find in a likely spot here. Took nothing. left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache chooknchunk and for all your placements in the area.
After completing the Musical Gully series we thought we would keep going a grab a few more caches in the area.

We were on our way home from a weekend away at wedding in Horsham. Completing the nearby whereigo series we grabbed a few more on the road. No owner today but 3 huge kangaroos.

Today was the journey out of Melbourne after dropping off daughter at the airport. Found the first of 28 caches at around 12.30 PM and the last at around 4.30 PM.
Nobody around today, but we were told later that our number was probably taken by the nearby property owner and his CCTV cameras.
Log signed and cache replaced as found at 4.13 PM on 23rd August 2019. TFTC, chooknchunk.

I came to Beaufort for an event, and went home with 38 smiley's - what a great weather we had for caching. Found with Alansee, with au.fait in the car. The owner of the land this adjoins was there close by. He knew about the cache and a quick check of boundary lines ensured that it wasn't actually on his property.
My thanks to chooknchunk for the cache.

After a day out at Beaufort to attend the International Geocaching Day event and finding all the recently released wherigo caches, I was heading home to home through Waterloo and thought I may as well find this little cluster of caches as well.
Nice easy find on all three caches here, all quiet in these parts at this late hour of the day. Thx again chooknchunk for a thoroughly enjoyable caching day!

Perhaps we should have read all of the cache page first. lol
Old bloke and a couple of others were fixing the fence nearby so we drove on by and found a few others. Returning shortly afterwards and the coast was clear.
A nice quick find amongst the pine cones.

After completing the Music Gully Road Wherigo series of caches we had to come out of the forest one direction or the other. This way we were heading towards Ballarat, so this cache happened to be en route. It’s great to have a larger sized container neatly hidden away from Muggles here. It’s sad these smaller schools have been closed down, but most rural populations have decreased and the larger schools are able to provide so many better facilities.
Found with muzza today. An easy find where there is no sign of the school. A nice friendly neighbour though!
Found with Cybergran V and her MuggleHubby.
A quick parkngrab before starting our run on the nice shiny new wherigo series put out nearby by some very clever COs.
I bit nippy out so I am kind of glad we didn't bump into the friendly neighbor this day if he is one in for a lengthy chat. Being schooled on the local history may be best on warmer days or indoors.

Looking forward to the event. [^]
