#18646 - 1:22:00 PM; Day 39 of the European Road Trip and our last full day in London. Headed out to Greenwich to visit the prime meridian and have a quick look around before the forecast rain arrived. After visiting the meridian, we headed down to the pier to catch a ferry back towards the city and stopped off near the Tower of London. Missed this cache on a visit earlier in the week as it was past closing time and access was unavailable. No such problem today. Grabbed a snap, sent an email and got a quick reply with the OK. Greetings from Australia and TFTV rodz
Thanks for brining me here to check out the views in both directions. Coming from Australia where we don't have history like this I am always overwhelmed by the age of these structures.

Big crowds around here today so decided to just walk around outside. Found the location and required information without issue. Saw the area from a river cruise a few days ago so was please to get a bit closer today. E-mail sent and thumbs up received. Poppies are looking great.
Thanks for another virtual rodz........fav point added.

Very busy here but a good find. Nice to see the poppies and Sir Bradley Wiggins! Also collected answers for HMPP - just need a colleague in Caen! TFTc
During a weekend in London as tour guide for German friends had the opportunity to bag this one after the Tower visit. Thanks for the work setting this up.

Juhl and I were in London for four days and despite visiting all the famous sites we also found time to do a bit of geocaching on our way through the city. We found many great caches and all in good shape – what an achievement in such a busy city to keep these caches up to speed. Therefore we wish to thank all the cache owners for placing and maintaining all these caches. They were source of much joy and excitement.
Comments regarding this cache:
We just hadn't enough time to see all the things we wanted, but Tower Bridge was of course a must see, and now that we were there, we took the time to gather the information needed to log this cache. A lot of Chinese tourists went nuts by the sight of the bridge and that gave us some space next to the gate in question.
Greetings from Denmark

dog’s little tracks were filled in within ten minutes of his morning stroll.
The snow is light and fluffy, and puffs away from my boot if I stamp my
foot. I’ll bet the alpine skiing today will be outstanding, especially if it keeps
on snowing. Nordic trekking will be great as well, whether on skis or snowshoes;
this last storm of the year should make outdoor enthusiasts very happy indeed. The
wind is going to pick up speed as the day wears on, so be extremely careful on your
way to and from festive events later tonight. Drive defensively, and if you plan on
celebrating with alcohol, use a designated driver or have your own party at home.
When I let the dog out at midnight, snow was gently falling and
there were three inches of soft fluff decorating the yard. Later the
wind came up into gale force gusts, and now the yard is bald as an
egg, with no trace of last night’s magical carpet. Fresh new snow adds
more bulk to wind-driven sheets of blown powder; when I stepped out-
side earlier I was too occupied with merely breathing in and out to pay much
attention to the view. The wind is straight out of the northwest, frigid and literally
breathtaking. A broad band of lake effect snow is just to the south of us; if it drifts
north only a couple of miles, we will be in the thick of it. I imagine that the snow
is sticking to the forest floor, and when the wind dies down the skiing should
be pretty good in sheltered spots. As it is now, there is too much debris
falling along with the snow to be safe in the woods. I wonder how
many wild critters get bonked on the head by branches and such
as they go about their business on a windy morn such as this?
Little dense snowballs falling from the sky are so small that they are
nearly invisible, but boy, howdy, I could feel their sandblasting sting when
I was outside earlier. Free dermabrasion, courtesy of Mother Nature. They
sit on the bare ground in the yard like a truckload of styrofoam beads has
been scattered, perfectly round and white against the frozen crushed shale." />

A Big thanks to the cache Owner for his/her effort to contribute to the Caching community by hiding this cache.
We came to see the lovely poppies today and spent a lovely few hours exploring in and around the Tower. No time to do the other parts of the CCC cache today but hopefully we'll pick up another one next time we're in London.
The photo is of one of the minis at the cache site.

Good luck, our hotel was nearby.
So we could come here along very often. One time from the inside, once from outside and also from the waterside.
But it was amazing how many people come along every day.
Thank you for showing us this site of London.
....and thanks for the Cache

First of our CCC caches today - what a brilliant excuse to come and look at the poppies! Hope we get them all in time, as half of EHD are somewhere else so this half has a deadline to meet them later.
Schnell wurde die Aufgabe gelöst und ein Foto gemacht.
Der Towerbesuch steht dann morgen auf dem Programm.

Info was gathered on a glorious evening on a visit to the Tower of London. TFTVC
Nach einem Spaziergang rund um den Towers, nach dem Bewundern des Kunstwerks aus roten Blumen und nach dem typischen Touri-Foto mit Tower Bridge im Hintergrund, besuchte ich noch diesen interessanten Cache. Vielen Dank!

Really enjoyed the visit to the tower, the history and the myths! Got the information on the way out. Though it turned out I was on the wrong side, but all sorted in the end.

When the rest of the party went out of the Tower to look at the London Bridge, I jumped at the chance to find 2 close-by caches This one was a Catastrophe, as I took the photo but I didn't exactly understand what the question was asking. When I got back into the tower, I understood what it was asking so I went to the same wall inside the find the date, but now when I look back, it s a different date. I guess it is quite lucky that I went back out later to get the real answer [8)] Thanks rodz, logged with permission.
Wandering around the Thames precinct and made short work of this cache. Now it's back home to Australia for a few more over there. TFTC
Visiting the area so took the opportunity to get this cache. Great cache and great area. Thanks rodz. Email following.
Cool place! I had been here before logging the nearby nano but forgot to get this! Seems even on the days I leave home for the big smoke I cant escape the Rodz caches At least this one was a lot easier with my new Norwegian friends then some of the Alphabet series. First of the four. Once I finish my Rainbow I might start hunting them down more feverishly. Cheers from Australia! Edited photo attached
Logged with Permission. We went inside the day before and had a great time, but today was walking past the outside and took the opportunity to get the info we couldn't be sure of yesterday. Over from New Zealand for a 10 day visit and loving the history and a few geocaches squeezed in as well. Thanks for the cache.
Found this one with Discovery Team, PenguinTB and My Melody. Great virtual! Photo later. Thanks for the hide.
Five days in London with Hullu_Jussi, 110 caches . Greetings from Finland.
After visiting Tower we collected all nearby caches, first this. TFTC

On holiday from Perth, Western Australia. I've enjoyed the three caches of this series that I hot around to. Circled right around here buy never went in. My photo at ground zero didn't work out, so have uploaded a pic off a friend's camera with me eating icecream nearby on the Plaza in 0 degrees as it started to snow very lightly on us. TFTC!

Completed this one with friends visiting from Australia as we did the tour of the tower and the Thames area. Geowife solved the final puzzle to post this find.

Much easier to find than the nearby traditional cache. To be honest, I haven't found that one, so far. There were too many people around.
Thank you for this one,
Peter

Location found by Sproutman and myself on our recent trip to London. Unfortunately we did not realise until we got home that our pics were very dark (as night time when we got there), hence our late logging. I have been trying to install some new photo editing software that I won but it won't install on my PC and I've no idea why at the moment. If you "invert colour" you can see evidence of where we were though. Will upload better pics if I do manage to find a way of lightening the background. Please also excuse cache sheets in pic as we had no GPS. Happy to say Santa has since remedied that problem.
1943 - Back in London with a free weekend.
I always enjoys walking along here when I'm in London. Info gathered, email sent and approved.

Great to score a cache on an easy walk the morning after the Marathon. Great spot here with amazing History. Found using the GPS on my iPhone which can, at times, be a frustrating experience. TFTC
Swung around and grabbed this one after finding the nearby nano. This part of the Tower was the last part I looked at before I left - some fairly gruesome stories! Thanks.
Found this on my walk along the river on the way to the WWFM event. Very interesting place. Answer confirmed by email, thanks for bringing me here.
Found this one whilst visiting the Tower. Thanks for the great history lesson.
Found this one at one of the world's most famous tourist attractions. Very easy.
Walked past on our way to dinner couldn't resist doing a cache on the way. Thanks
Number 11 of the day and the second in this series which I now might try and finish today. TFTC.
#440. I wish I could finish this series, but not on this trip. Found and e-mail clue to owner. Thanks for the cache.
Found by Mary & David from Australia at 1230. This area is on our 'must see' list when we come to London - we always find something extra to look at. The guides who escort the tours are real characters too. Spent a couple of hours here this time round, then took a ferry to Greenwich and back to finish off the day. Our thanks to Daoloth and Tuna. Hope we can return some day to try the rest of the series.
We passed by this location with our daughter Caroline on our 4th segment of the Thames Path, Tower Bridge to Putney. Lovely sunny day, showers avoiding us. E-mail sent with answer
No problem finding the right location for this one, but some difficulty in acquiring the required information once there. Some of the local signs have faded a fair bit, so I hope we have sent the cache owner the correct "goods"!
Email sent.

A busy spot, and our 200th cache. We confused ourselves here, as there's nothing to say that's when the structure was actually built. As it was the only thing we could find that fits we concluded it must be right.
Thanks for the cache.
