Awesome cache spot! Beautiful valley out here this is one of the caches that set my Aussie snake fear instincts off for sure! Even after living here 8 years I still get freaked in tall grass!

I stayed in Upper Hutt (Wallaceville House) last night for a birthday. This morning I took a circuitous route home and visited Whiteman’s Valley for a few caches. Despite having lived in Upper Hutt for over six years, I never visited this part of it.
Pulling up to GZ, I could see two hint objects. I tried the first one, then the second one, then the first one again. Aha, there it was.
A lot of cars went past during this time, and I can only imagine what they were thinking I was doing in there under the trees.
Thanks to the CO for the cache and for bringing me out to this part of Upper Hutt

It was very windy and showery when we headed over the hill to Whiteman's Valley this morning. Our main target was the 142 in 24 Challenge, with a few traditionals to find along the way. Stumped? was our first stop, but we were not stumped for long. Thanks.
TwigNZ is desperate to get just a few more caches before the mega, and I am always keen to help, so we headed up Whitemans Valley.
I was checking one stump, Twig found another and shecked it. I finished mine about 5 mins later (a very thought check), came over to check out Twig's and immediately said "There it is!". Usually I am in Twig's possition when this happens. Come to think of it, I think this is the first time I have done it to someone else!

Tomorrow after work I will start my journey north to attend the Auckland MEGA, which will be my 5,000th cache if I can engineer my caching before Saturday to make it so. Knowing that the weather forecast for tomorrow is less than favourable, I really wanted to find some caches tonight to release some of the pressure, so the Seagnoid and I headed out to Whitemans Valley to see what we could find.
Most of the time that the pair of us have been caching together, my phone and his GPSr have generally placed us in the same location even if my phone occasionally lags a bit. But today I was astounded to find several occasions where he and I headed in slightly different directions. On this occasion I had the better location, but he had the last laugh as once he had come over to where I was he spotted the cache immediately where I had overlooked it.
Everything is fine with this cache, which soon had both our names on the log.
Thanks for placing this cache.

# 1676 A nice saturday drive over to Whitemans Valley. Havent been around here for a while, since I used to live in the area. I do remember finding a cache here some time ago but obviously that ones gone and been replaced by this one. All good inside here. Thanks Nic Jay. Definitely a ginormous tree in its day. Carefully rehidden again to avoid getting muggled.
I scored some cheap flights to Wellington for the weekend! I had a great time exploring and finding caches!! TFTC!
Down for the MEGA in Upper Hutt, Wellington, with NZTravellers, caching around the area.
Logs individually signed as "stik-a-crane" or "SAC" if space/time was short .
Time for the official photo celebrating the MEGA..
..thought the events were well managed considering a good sized turn out to the MEGA.
Thanks to all the CO"s for maintaining their caches ready for the onslaught...…

Had an awesome time in and around Wellington for my very first Mega. 5 days of caching and today = day #4
After Prizegiving it was time to cache some more so Gadget169, Natalie247 and I headed off into the night. A nice quick find here once at the right stump TFTC

Day 4 of the Wellington Mega. By the end of this day we had done over 20000 steps the most walking the whole time we are here. So after the prize giving KJR and Natalie247 and I went off into the night to find and couple of challenge caches and some other. This was a quick park and and in to the next one. TFTC
Day two of our MEGA wellington adventure! The weekend was great and the Wellington caching community did a fantastic job of hosting the event and maintaining some great caches and the weather was perfect for caching! We started in Johnsonville and ended the day in Upper Hutt and the back and beyond caching to all hours of the night.
Took a drive out of town onto some country roads for a few caches, enjoyed the quiet and found the cache. TFTC!

WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... After experiencing broken sleep at our accommodation, it was time to pull it together and get out there... With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and NZFlossy...
Saturday: We had some caching business somewhere out in the valley... So we climbed above Upper Hutt and cached our way onto the ridge and down into the valley beyond. A quick find here as the light began to fade. TFTC.

Day 1 of Wellington Mega
Today's mission was to register, collect lab caches, other events and hopefully 11 different cache types in 1 day.
Tall order but we made it with a few minutes to spare.
We also collected other caches that we had solved prior to coming.
Turned into a bit of a day so sorry for the copy and paste of logs.
Thanks to the cache owners for the placement of these caches.
Looking at the greater picture of the Wellington area we have only scratched the surface so will be back at some stage. SLTFTC

I was in Wellington today for work... and as I had an appointment nearby I thought that I would try and find a cache while I was in the area. That is how I came to be looking for this particular cache. So after parking as close as I could to GZ... and once the traffic was clear... I made my way to GZ and soon had the cache in hand. The log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot (as per your instructions) all ready for the next finder. So thank you Nic-jay for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Missed this on the first 4 times I passed the spot, yes really, 4 times. Stopped eventually and made a Q E F here, and replaced as found.
With my current visit to the area winding down into the last few evenings, and still having a car at my disposal, I decided to take advantage of the (unusually) ambient weather to head out and grab a few caches. I did a loop from the back of Upper Hutt along Whitemans Valley and back into Silverstream via Blue Mountain Road. A dirty dozen finds for the evening but quite a lot of DNFs too which I see is the norm with some of those caches on that route. All in all a good side trip and just the thing to log them over a cold beer.
T F T C to all the COs for their placements.

Found while cycling the circuit from County Lane, Harcourt Park for morning coffee and around the Whitemans Valley and a great whiz down Blue Maintain Road. With it being a rare fine day it was a wonderful ride on River Trail and country roads. TFTC.
This one did not have us stumped here as we wander around this area.

Out with Red Roaming as we tour the globe but spending most time here in this beautiful country. another lovely day. Cache log signed with our full names or DD & RR, depending upon space and time. On our way to Martinborough and doing some caching on the way. another one for me to find. No problems here, although it did take a few seconds to find. MTFTC

I found it but it took heaps of time and was hard but it was really cool finding it
I drove right past this cache only realizing where it was afterwards. As I was heading up a spur road anyway I came back to this a bit later and, as it turned out, it's easier to stop on the east-bound side anyway. Quick find on arrival although I felt a bit conspicuous while signing the log as quite a number of cars went by during that time. TFTC.
Lovely part of the country, found on a pleasant warm sunny spring morning. *TFTC Nic-jay, #9214*
The weather is grim today, so a car-based trip around Blue Mountains and Whiteman's Valley until I run out of time. Quick, easy find. TFTC
Found during a car based cache mission due to the cruddy weather.
Must have been a big tree before its demise.

A very quick find on a pleasant drive through Whiteman's Valley. Thanks for placing a cache here.
On trip around Whiteman's Valley, but only the cellphone so missed a few with no reception.
Ah! which stump?
This was the fifth success.

Found it!!! Not having much luck along here, not all caches in the gpsr and no reception.
Find # 2525. A third day of cycle caching from Petone to Maymorn and back using the Masterton train to get to Maymorn. Cycled back via Whiteman's Valley and the Hutt River Trail - 50km of cycling. Only a 100m rise in elevation from Maymorn to the top of Blue Mountains Road but a 200m descent to Silverstream - the train did all the work!
More than one stump to look at but got there eventually. Busy on the road. SL TFTC

#1562. Time was running short now to get to the Leprechaun sunset event so pulled up here and raced out to check the nearby stumps. A quick search but no cache seen. Jumped back in the car and grabbed the GPS. It lead me to a different GZ and this place looked a better hiding option. A quick scan in the likely places and soon had the cache in hand. All dry inside. Signed the logbook and returned as found. Thanks for the cache.
Super quick find in the first hollow of the first stump I checked. Made me feel a bit sorry for the last cacher that logged the DNF. SLTFTC
Another busy intersection so had to wait a bit. Found nice n quick. Tftc
