TFTC Na'wal and this series. So glad to be back out and about. Wonderful day today with little wind and some clouded sunshine. Looking forward to the physical challenge, as lack of exercise will surely play its part in determining how far we get in the Zoo. TNLN Burrow was wet as is log. Re-positioned the burrow and provided a better veranda.

I headed to the You Yangs for a day of walking, mountain biking and caching. I decided it was time to visit the Na'wal Zoo in the afternoon and I had unrivalled access to the exhibits all on my own.

After managing to use the paths to find the first half of this series, I seemed to be off roading for the second half. The zoo turned into a safari! Thankfully a quick find here though the cache wasn't quite what I was expecting! TFTC

Out and about in the You Yangs today , we had intending doing the "Great Circuit Drive "series but the road was closed , so instead did the Puzzle Time and the Zoo series . Most were quick finds while others led us round in circles until finally found

Came to the You Yangs on a beautiful morning in pursuit of my 3000th cache. Followed the GPS between the trees. I had not visited this part of the Yangs before - flat, bushy, like a plantation. Loving the preparation of the caches. One more to go. TFTC

The last time we were in the area was when we were Hunting For The Na'wal, a caching experience we really enjoyed. So when we saw the Zoo Series, they went onto our "to do"list very quickly. We went to the Zoo today, our second last day before returning home tomorrow night.

This was another quick find as we saw the cache from about 20m away - it was mostly uncovered and its colour contrasted very strongly against its surroundings. The cache and contents were in good condition.

Thanks Na'wal for this cache and the series,

Out with au.fait & xambo4u, we spent the day visiting the unusual animals in this open plan zoo. A great day had by all.
We enjoyed the variety of animals and caches, which had us searching among the trees in sunshine and rain. Usually we see many rabbits hopping around, but today only Roger. Thanks Na’wal

01-Sep-18
A wonderful day out with the lovely echidna44 and xambo4u to visit this zoo We met up.early with blue skies and sunshine although this didn’t last all day as several showers dampened us but not our spirits as we wandered from one end of this imaginary zoo to the other. We visited Roger in his burrow and signed his autograph book TFTC Na’wal

Out and about with Echidna44 and au.fait for the day. The weather was forecasted as doubtful but that was not going to stop us. As our progresses the weather was favourable. Really enjoyed our nice easy walk through this new to us area. Cute but where is the rest of him/her. We did see some green hooded orchids though. Signed off and ready for our next animal We are enjoying you all the work you have put into this series. Thanks for it all Na'wal and another great day out girls.

I had wanted to tackle the Zoo series in this part of the You Yangs for a while primarily because I thought it would be a great excuse for a very long walk whilst trying for twenty five caches in a day. I knew there were a couple of tree climbs required and not being much of one for them I thought I'd add a couple of extra caches not in the series as backups. The fact that both those caches counted towards challenges I was working towards didn't hurt Big Grin
All of the series bar two which required tree climbs and one furthest from the main set of caches were found. I really enjoyed the finding as I got the sense I was in the bush without the associated difficulties of finding bush-based caches in thick scrub and hilly terrain. Now don't get me wrong, there's a place for those types of caches but if you're aiming for twenty five finds in a day you're unlikely to achieve the goal with those types of cache.
Highlights of the day included: 14km walked, 10 months of unlove snaffled (don't ask me why the Nocturnal multi hadn't been found for so long) and a koala seen up close as I walked back to the car after a long afternoon of caching.
Thanks for the series, Na'wal. A great use of (what I think) are toys which have been outgrown by your kids. A favourite point for the series will be added to the final mystery and I'll try and post a photo of the koala on that page as well.

Out today to finish off the zoo, been too long awaiting a time to get there... the winds today were peaking at 109kpm, the trees were swaying and bending... with runners on it was off to gather the caches.
the old GPS had a lot of trouble with gz finding today kept jumping all over the place... had to resort to pick a point and circle around until caches were spotted.
thanks to Na'wal for this series

Hubby, 3 boys and 1 geo dog went out on an adventure. Some were dragged, 1 wouldn't stay home, no way no how. The aim was to get out in the sun, find some caches and get away from computer games. Success on all 3 counts! Quick and easy finds on this summer day.

Another find by the McPhail family... TFTC

Another enclosure visited. Thanks Na'wal

17-Nov-16
More than 2 years after I first visited this zoo I came back today to finish it off for once and for all on my sixth visit. (Although that didn't happen as an elusive butterfly had fluttered away from me so I'll have to return for a seventh time to see one more enclosure.)
After snakes alive I hopped over to this wabbit.
"What's up, Doc?"
- "My smilie count, that's what's up!" Smile
Thanks, Na'wal.

Find no. 1025

We enjoyed our time in the zoo this afternoon despite the wet and cold weather. Having the sled dog competition on will we were hear added to the enjoyment of this fun series.

Of course we couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit Roger the Rabbit. Sadly Rodger was a little wet, so we dried him off was best we could.

A huge thank you to Na'wal, we'll be back another day to catch up with the others in the zoo.

Headed out with Leetalicious and geodogs Tessie and Worf for a great Sunday's caching. Knowing from experience that Na'wal's caches are always good fun, we knew we were in for a good day, and so it proved.
The cache is a little damp, sorry we had nothing to replace it with
Thanks again Na'wal

24-Apr-16
On a beautiful day Bogonghazy, the Geodogs and I planned lots of walking. So we went to the 'zoo' at the You Yangs and completed the series. Loved this series and the beautiful surroundings. Many thanks

07-Apr-16
Discussion by the kids on the way to this cache had come to the decision that this cache would be down one of the many rabbit holes. Luckily it didn't come to them disappearing like alice in Wonderland down a rabbit hole. This log was damp. TFTC.

07-Apr-16
Out here with AutumnTree, our newbie geocaching friend, and five GeoKids. Find number 16 for the day. Nobody framed here - just a nice cosy (but quite damp) hide.

TFTC!

A very smart cache!! Found a nice cockroach on the head and squealed, but was a smart one!! TFTC

26-Mar-16
There was a big cockroach sitting on the head, but geokid didn't see it and screamed as it hit her hand and threw the head! Bella the dog thought it was a toy to play with and tried to take off with it!

#218

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much intopcs and internet ..and logging. So we spend a whole day together to indicate all the caches we found together out of his list. Hope you don't mind the standard text aslazy me has to log quitea few now. HopefullyI'm gonnawork on that Wink

Thanks!

While spending 16 months abroad, travelling through all states of Australia and also having a two months break in Thailand I did a lot of geocaching.
After many, many caches accompanied by the strong will not to write any standard logs, I ended up with more than 700 finds, all waiting for an official log. After intense considerations and carefully weighing my options, you now receive this special limited edition numbered log.

Who framed Roger Rabbit?

This is my unique non-standard log #200
You Yangs National Park Cache #17/77

Being in Melbourne all the time gets a little boring after a while. So DieRooneys, Mutex, Pfote and I decided that we should leave Melbourne for the weekend. We had a look at the geocaching map and the You Yangs National Park seemed just perfect. Heaps of geocaches with good ratings, camping spot nearby and it wasn't too far away from Melbourne Smile

We started on Saturday with the northern part of the zoo series and did roughly three quarters. We found all 19 caches we were looking for this day and they were amazing!
Really cute ones, cool ideas, everyone was different. I haven’t had so much fun geocaching in a very long time! Thanks Na’wal for your creative zoo caches!

And after having a good night’s rest in Little River we were fit for another day. We did the whole You Yangs Circle Drive today and found all of the caches. And there was even some time left for an earthcache and two traditionals afterwards which makes a total of 32 caches for me today (I already found YYCD #3 on another day). Thanks a lot ThePacman for crafting so many perfectly camouflaged caches!
We let the evening end with an awesome burger dinner buffet. Since it was already dark we were wearing head torches Very Happy But I think that’s how it should be on a good camping trip Smile

DieRooneys and Pfote went to bed earlier than Mutex and me. We decided that there was still some time for a little mystery solving battle. We were puzzling till 3 am and managed to solve seventeen of the ‘It’s puzzle time’ mysteries. Today, on Monday we did the outdoor finding part Wink
Even though our last day was broiling hot (maybe the hottest day I experienced so far) we found all mysteries we solved the night before, the rest of the zoo series and two traditionals on the way, 26 caches in total.
Thanks TR! for so many different mysteries. We had a lot of fun solving them!

It was an incredible weekend thanks to all owners and my amazing companionship!
But the highlight was that we’ve seen a wild Koala relaxing in a tree after finding our last cache for the day Smile

---

Thanks a lot for taking care of this cache, showing me this place and turning my travels into an adventure!

Greetings from Germany.
Keep on caching!
Theatralis ?

---

That’s roughly the route I travelled:
Germany – Sydney – Cairns – Cape Tribulation – Biloela – Armidale – Sydney – Canberra – Melbourne – You Yangs National Park – Tasmania – Melbourne – Boinka – Adelaide – Alice Springs – Darwin – Adelaide – Melbourne – Perth – Rottnest Island – Denmark – Perth – Melbourne – Thailand – Brisbane – Sydney – Adelaide – Boinka – Melbourne – Germany

---

And finally some statistics:
Days abroad: 186/487
Days of geocaching: 78
Geocaches abroad: 200
Geocache of the day: 17/19

Australia Trip
Day 14 of 49

Today we planed a Geocache Trip to the You Yangs Nationalpark. We left our Camp in Melbourne at 2 pm and drove to Geelong. Our target was the Zoo Series on this day.
What should i write now? It was an amazing Cache Series! The Cache Containers were wonderful and every cache were individual made. We startet at "Admit One" and did the north part of the tour. That was my first time caching in the Australian nature. Many thanks to Na'wal for a wonderful piece of geocaching craftsmanship.

At the moment Pfote and me are on a work and travel backpacking trip through the world. After I've spent a full year in Australia Pfote joined me for my second year down here. We will definitely try to collect a lot of boxes and all the special things in every state all around and through the middle.

This later weekend Pfote, Theatralis, Die Roonies and I made a trip to Geelong to cache ourselves through the You Yangs Park.
We started with around three quarters of the zoo series and found all of the caches without any problems.
The octopus will definitely get a fav point - such a great idea!

TFTC and greetings from Germany.

Today was day 29 of our trip out of Sydney to visit the southern states of Victoria and Tasmania.

It was time to pick up a few more of this Zoo series while staying in the area.
This cache was easy to find and Roger was resting quietly in his burrow. His log was quite wet though. After the log had been signed the cache was replaced as found. Thank you for bringing us back to the area and we hope to pick up some more of the series another time. TFTC.

Always nice to see a fellow bunny out geocaching. Roger was looking a little worse for wear so we gave him an encouraging pat before putting him back in his burrow. TFTC

I loved Roger's burrow. I may steal that idea.Razz The log was dry but would the next person visiting please bring a new 4" x 2" baggie as there is a large hole in the present one.

I’ve been wanting to have a go at this series for a while on my previous visits to the You Yangs but ran out of time. Today I had the day to myself to go caching so I decided to make the drive back out once again. I’m glad this was where I picked to come because the variety of the hides and the creativity gone into them was first rate. I thoroughly enjoyed zig zagging across this part of the You Yangs marvelling at the time that was spent putting it together and having a chuckle on more than one occasion. I managed to successfully find every cache in the series, thanks very much Na’wal for all your efforts, fantastic!

27-Aug-15
With a day off uni, I decided to start tackling this series. Overall, I found 20/20 for the day. There were some very interesting hides and creative caches. Thanks Na'wal for a great day!
The log was also a little damp in this one.

23-Aug-15
Great hide!! Had the newbies tricked. Kids are facinated with caching and already asking when
We can go again

11-Jul-15
Trekking around knocking off these caches we hadn't seen a rabbit until arriving here. No wonder the rabbit was hiding in there is was very wet but the log was dry. Poor Mr Peter Rabbit may be a bit on the nose in the warmer months

I big thanks to the cache owner for the time and effort which has been put into this series.

I was in the area today after having an appointment nearby so decided to visit the zoo for a cache or two! What a fab little series! I was using my phone and hadn't planned anything so need to come back (probably several times) but that's ok as it is a gorgeous spot. Clever clever! The rabbit is soppy wet but log itself is fine Smile

11-Jun-15
Another great find in this series

07-Jun-15
A nice early start to this fresh June sunday and we're checking out the Zoo. A well constructed cache and a clever hide - Roger was a bit soggy today. I really like this part of the world, thanks Na'wal for giving me a reason to revisit.

07-Jun-15
That is a cute little bunny in the description and another cute little critter at GZ. Roger was a little damp, but not too wet. We sealed him and popped him back ready to greet the next lucky finder.
Thanks Na'wal for the cache.

This was a our third cache that we had in the frame for our afternoon at the zoo.

Off the beaten track we went. Being Easter the geokids were hoping that the bunny would have some surprises of the chocolate variety, oh well no such luck.

At least the cache was located and signed allowing us to get on our way.

Thanks Na'wal

Found on another caching adventure with Trailrunning, A public Holiday meant time off work and more Hours to Cache, we headed to the You Yangs and North Geelong, We found some novel hides at the Zoo and a couple of Challenging Hill climbs as well as a few easier caches around the Geelong Area. Thanks Na'wal for the cache.
