Found by The Empire + HWe had been yearning for a break from the daily grind, and the prospect of heading into the bush was like a breath of fresh air. The cityscape gradually faded into the rearview mirror as the road stretched endlessly before us. We rolled down the windows, allowing the sweet scent of blooming eucalyptus trees to fill the car. As we approached Ballarat, the landscape began to change. Rolling hills dotted with wildflowers started to emerge, and the colors of spring painted the world in shades of green and gold. A quick find here as we tipped our hats to Ned, thanks for the cache chooknchunk.- M

**The Great Victorian Cache Crawl 2023, Day 1**

Off today caching our way to Ararat in preparation for the cache crawl starting line at midnight. Riding shotgun in the geowagon were KristysAdventures along with ConnieandRick.

On our way to Musical Gully, we spied Ned having a rest. KA tried to snap a shot as I flew past, but that was before we realised there was a cache here!

Attached is a photo of us looking chuffed because we completed the Musical Gully series with no DNFs, AND we found this one too. Yay us!

Thanks chooknchunk for this fun hide. Logged as CLARK for our group. TNLNSL. Cache on

Letthemeatcache was on a mission to start the Musical Gully series and was focussed on the drive when I spotted Mr Ned on the drive by and took a blurry pic.

Luckily Letthemeatcache was clever enough to check later and lo and behold, there's cache here!

Thanks chooknchunk for the cache. it was nice to go closer to admire the craftsmanship of the wood all in once piece!

A glorious day to set off to Beaufort for the TDOC23 - Cachemas Lunch In Beaufort. Up early to do some caching before lunchtime. Sol de lune and I had agreed on some target caches so that is where we headed. After completing Musical Gully series, we targeted some more caches in and South of Beaufort. A nice find, disappointed Ned wasn't up for a chat.
Thanks for placing this cache chooknchunk

Third full day in Ballarat and with the kids still asleep, we continued our holiday traditions. Huntress was off on a 15 kilometre run today, while I went off geocaching. This morning it was targeting the Musical WhereIGo series, and some others in the Pyrenees LGA.

Huntress and myself enjoyed solving all the musical questions and I ensured I had my tunes on full for the hunting. Mostly 80s & 90s Rock, Grunge and some Classic Rock.

Some great letterboxes along this road made the drive interesting.

Thanks for the cache Chook n Chunk

29,352. Found as part of the Ballarat Christmas Invasion 2022 group of albida33, Kittykatch, Joolay, Sol de Lune. smittengranny and myself (signing as BCI-22) during our journey south for an epic caching run around the Ballarat and Rutherglen regions between Christmas and New Years Eve 2022.

With a main aim of the Ballarat GeoTour, the Rutherglen Easter Series, Brolga Bill's Bike Trail (BBBT), and Brolga Bill's Puzzles (BBP), a group of us headed down from Canberra/Goulburn. What a great day it was driving around the Ballarat region. A Beautiful City. The next cache on our list. Quick find once at GZ. Signed the log, replaced the cache as found, them continued on to the next cache on our list.

Thanks chooknchunk !!

Ballarat and Rutherglen Christmas 2022 Trip. Day 3. Yesterday was a full day completing the Ballarat Geo Tour caches. Today Fitzy_1965, Smitten Granny, Kitty Katch, Joolay and albida33 jumped in one car and headed a bit further afield to do the Christmas tree puzzle series and a few older caches well to the north of Ballarat. Next on the agenda was getting to the challenge Caches that could be driven to a bit south of town. The final activity of the caching day was some of the LAB caches around town. At then end of the day we met up for a great dinner before retiring for a well earned night.

As we headed from old cache to old cache we stopped for a cache or two and a bite of food for lunch.

Thanks for the cache chooknchunk

A much cooler day today with scattered showers while travelling with Albida33, Fitzy_1965, Joolay and Kittykatch. First up we attacked the presolved Christmas Series then headed north for some older caches before returning south for the challenge caches and whatever else might pop up.

Thanks for the company to my geobuddies and the caches to all COs. Logs were signed as BCI 22 as it stands for Ballarat Christmas Invasion.

Shortly after turning from Musical Gully Road heading twds Beaufort Ned Kelly was quickly amongst us ready to serve and protect.
Once we established a friendly contact we were able to alight from our means of transportation to make contact with Ned and investigate his fine craftmanship.
We were given permission to explore and communicate further , although we had to use mind psychology to achieve it.
We soon found the cache thx to co-ords and the hint. We found the road from Elmhurst to Beaufort quite enjoyable and soon were envious of those living along it.
Thx ChooknChunk. From JJHHXX. Nervous nineties now. Find 94

I decided to do a road trip along the Great Ocean Road this week. It’s been a long time since I travelled along this area and it was certainly before I was into caching! As the week nears an end it was time to head back, taking the long way home via a day in Beaufort and some events in Ballarat tomorrow.

This is a piece of art and almost had me fooled for the cache location before realising I was not where the GPS suggested I should be. Well played!l

Thanks chooknchunk for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to find.

We are staying in Avoca to clear out our shop so that we can sell it and buy and fit out a van to travel around Australia as Digital Grey Nomads. As it was raining, we couldn't pack a trailer, so we decided to head around the area and grab some caches. We headed towards Ballarat thinking the Geotour meetup was today. We made the most of it, though, when we had arrived at the Rotunda and realised it was tomorrow. We were on our way to Music Gully and couldn't resist a cache that includes the name of Australia's most famous cop killer. Thank you for this cache chooknchunk.

TFTC chooknchunk, we drove past this one and had to turn around to get it. I said it must be in the railing.. so off we take a wander after parking the car off the road. Then this weird lady drives past and slows down, we thought she was going to moan at us for parking on the side of the road... but she was lost or lost her marbles!! She asked for directions to Bendigo because her phone had died and he gps etc.. but before Algae could finish giving her directions and mentioning she should head towards Ballarat she drove off. a thank you would have been nice. I wonder if she made it to Bendigo or ended up in Gippsland

What more could 5 kids 5-13yrs ask for?The first of 17 finds for the day and we found Ned guarding a groovy pair of yellow sunnies.... Cache soon in hand after a short walk and it was one of the newbie Pandas who made their first discovery.!! Thanks ChooknChunk for another great day!! And for the cache. Smile

Re-enabling now the Victorian Covid19 restrictions say we can "participate in some recreational activities, adhering to the rules". Please use common sense, maintain social distancing, attend to hand hygiene and stay safe.

28-Mar-20
Temporarily disabling this cache due to the Corona Virus.
Geocaching is not "essential travel".
It puts others at risk when you travel unnecessarily, no matter how isolated a cache may be.
Please stay at home.

My first day of a three day road trip through Western Victoria to grab a few caches. After a long drive out to Carlisle River to tick off a target for the challenge to find a cache in each page of the Victorian Country Road Atlas I headed towards Ballarat to try some challenge caches followed by the Xmas Down Under puzzle series. After that it was on towards Beaufort and I had time enough to the nearby Camp Hill series before coincidentally meeting the CO team for dinner at the local pub. Last few here as I was running out of time but fortunately a quick find. Took nothing. left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache chooknchunk.
