Logs
Was keen to get the new souvenir today on the actual solstice day, so after finishing some work headed down to this trail today to collect at least three (and maybe a few more).Last one for the day and the one I really wanted. Have looked at this many times and no idea where to start. A recent log gave me motivation to attempt an alternative solution. Had some potential spots but it wasnt until I used some local knowledge and searched a bit more thoroughly at a spot I had looked at early and I spied the camo that lead to the cache. To paraphrase a local cacher - I may be ok at solving puzzles but I am also ok at finding caches so my signature is Joe in the book. Thanks to day1976 for placing this cache and to BettyBoo3747 for keeping it in the game.
Collecting some new caches out here after a quick detour off the highway, before heading to our Wangaratta accomodation for the night. This puzzle was a short detour off the track and through some thorns! Many thanks to Bettyboo for adopting this one so it could live on, and the recent maintenance meant a nice find was in order!
Called past today to check the cache. Replaced the 200ml Sistema with a larger sized container. Left original log book. Added some SWAG and dropped in a TB to continue its journey from here.
This puzzle was a lot of fun. It took a bit of Google searching to eventually glean the information that we needed, and using all the hints provided eventually came out with the numbers. We are staying in the area, camping for a few days, and today we took a walk along the bicycle trail to come and find this one in a very peaceful and scenic spot. It was raining lightly as we walked our way to GZ, but in someways that was a welcome relief after the heat of yesterday. Thanks day1976 Domsky
Beechworth Road Trip !I joined up with Joolay for a Xmas road trip to the Beechworth area. We have been picking up and solving puzzles and multis this weekend around Beechworth. Heading home now but time for one more cache. Thanks for the hide BettyBoo3747
In our solved pile and in the area today so decided to grab this. Off in another adventure with Kittykatch. Enjoyed our stay at Beechworth with the bikes but heading home today via Yakendandah. Day 4 Thanks for getting me out and about BettyBoo3747
Another appointment in Wodonga today so another opportunity to spend a few hours caching in the area.Im still catching up on a pile of puzzles that need finding so they were my main target today. Thanks for all the effort thats gone into creating them all. Some were trickier that others to find but generally all were excellent coords and quick finds.TFTC This one was another I remember from when I first started caching. I had no idea back then how to solve puzzles so it was extremely out of reach. Ive learned a few tricks since then. Theres also been a bike path cut in near GZ which looked beautiful
This was a on the way home cache after dinner at the Yuk pub and we took the most daft route to get to it, cache was in good condition when we found it!
This wasn't a normal trip to the mainland to got to a Mega it was a trip to catch up with a good mate that couldn't keep up with the pace in Tassie when he lived there so moved back
This was a trip for gooseandegg and myself to meet up with 1Toolman and have a long weekend caching in the North of Vic to try and help him fill his D/T grid, we knew we couldn't fill it but thought we could get close and we did well finding 10 out of the 14 we were targeting. Hope he finds the time to find the last few soon.
Thanks for the cache.

Wow Nighttime moistneess in the toes at this one !️️
We jumped out quick to get this badboy and soon realised there was a path BELOW the steep drop,
Being THE fit blokes we are with zero tolerance for turning around we SLID down and kept moving forward.
Given the CO for this one i was expecting a MILO TIN for me to curse at hahaah.
It wasnt a tin but a good container, but logbook slightly damp.
AS USUAL we started the walk back and found a MUCH EASIER WAY BACK TO THE Mighty triton
TFTC

After a pretty ordinary dinner at the Yack pub we thought we'd try and grab a couple more caches on the way back to Beechworth. As usual we took that hard way in, leaving us high and dry until a precarious slide saw us down the back before a quick dash up the other side.
The toolman almost destroyed GZ in his excitement .
A much easier walk back to the car, and per usual. TFTC
Stainless steel rat and I agreed we needed to catch up with our old mate 1TOOLMAN for a weekend so we made a plan to fly over and help fill in a couple of holes in his D/T grid. We managed to fill 10 out of 14 before running out of time. I think he's got the urge to continue and make it happen.

This weekend, it was a trip down to Victoria to attend [The Rutherglen Event](https://coord.info/GC9MH9M) 2023 Mega. Arriving on Thursday with a flight to Albury, I joined a few South Aussie friends, which consisted of e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, and Freddo.
Several geocaching series were completed, which included the Easter 2023 Wherigos, Brolga Bill’s Bike Trail (BBBT), Brolga Bill’s Puzzles (BBP), and the Ladders in Rutherglen series. I also hiked in Warby-Ovens National Park and completed the Wangaratta Warbys Challenge Trail (WCT) series. In addition, we targeted uncommon cache types, rare/unique D-T combinations, older caches (although not too many of these) and those with high Favourite Points.
We also completed several Adventure Labs (ALs) during our stay, which ranged from the Mega specific maze and gadget ALs, to sightseeing around Rutherglen and nearby towns:

The weather ranged from sunshine days, to overnight rain and dreary days, but for the most part, it didn't impact our geocaching as we targeted tree climbs on dry days, and power trails during the drizzly days.
I remember first coming across this puzzle when the CO's innovative Adventure Lab was released, and it was around then that I had sat down and worked through the puzzle, with help from friends.
I decided to take the conservative option and park at a nearby traditional cache, although in hindsight, there was probably a closer park opportunity. A nice walk nevertheless to GZ, and I was surprised that I didn't have as much trouble with the vegetation and growth as what others had commented in previous logs. It almost felt like a geotrail from the nearby track. The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and the logbook was stamped with DEFF (Davidwazza, e.gregory1, FeatherWaite, Freddo) to save logbook space. Thanks day1976 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Found with PapaGrouch. I had solved this puzzle a while ago with a bit of help from the CO, but other times when we were in the area works were being undertaken in the vicinity of GZ, so searching for the cache was out. Today while passing I saw that the work was completed so we were free to look for the cache. TFTC
Found by Mary and David at 13:40. On our way to Yackandandah today to finish a Lab stage and find a few more caches. 1976 must have been a good year for producing children with brains, giggle, giggle. Found a relatively easy access to our indicated GZ, and then found the cache quickly. M was glad that she had no input to the solution. Dropped off "Froschprinz" TB. Our thanks to day1976.

Early arrivals in town, ready for The Wangaratta Event 2021, gave us the perfect opportunity to be out and about among the unusual or old roads, letter boxes, views, rocks, waterfalls and many other sneaky spots highlighted by a geocache symbol on our map of the area around Beechworth. An amazing story, intriguing puzzle and a location we would never have known about were it not for geocaching.
Thanks day1976 for adding such fascinating caches to the geo-gameboard.

We had attempted to reach GZ a few times previously on trips but were beaten by blackberries on each different approach.
Finally this visit we saw a beautiful sight as the blackberries had been parted neatly, and we were able to walk a lot closer than we had ever been before.
After a short bush bash we reached the prize and found The Bulgarian King safe in its hiding place.
Thanks to Day1976 for the adventure today.

Cache in perfect order. Great hide, a nice walk into the scrub. Getting back to the car saw the extraction of 1002 spear grass & other assorted grassy cling ons, Beechworth we will grab some gaiters & Eccles
On a road trip with Muggle65. We decided a trip to the nearby bakery was in order. A quick check in GSAK gave us one solved puzzle. Must be a DT we needed at some stage. A quick find was made at GZ but we then needed to remove a number of pointy things from our socks and shoes. Think our bakery trip might involve a side stop to buy some gaiters as well. Thank you for the fun
Apologies for very late log but what to do in lockdown but check drafts!? A challenging range of extruciatingly puzzling puzzles from Day1976 frequently challenge the grey matter! This was no different and got no joy thinking strategy. A buddy eventually shed light on the matter and the keys were turned. Hugely interesting and clever sums this up! Think it deserves a fave. Cache located in a spot I've never been to. TFTC and the FUN
What a rippa puzzle !!! Congratulations day1976 on such a well constructed and logical puzzle, it took me a few weeks to piece it all together, and my background in the area definitely helped, there was a warm fuzzy feeling when the co-ords began to fallout, one after another ... retrieved today with the geopooch who was stoked with the bushwalk to GZ, cache in good condition, gets a big FAV point from me, TFTC day1976
After spending a week away camping from Melbourne I’ve now moved on to Beechworth for some caching with OzHockeyChick, GeoTurtle37 and Papi4506.
Grabbed this cache on our first venture out for the trip. I hadn’t solved this one so put it on my list and worked on it. I needed some nudges from OHC to get there. Fluked one part of it but worked out why. Made a little harder for my lack of knowledge on the subject. Got there in the end and can now log the cache.
Thanks day1976 for the cache.

With the easing of restrictions in regional Victoria I am re-enabling some of my caches in these areas.
Given the current State of Disaster declared in Victoria and the strict laws regarding movement around the state, I am disabling all of my caches within Victoria until restrictions are lifted.
As restrictions are beginning to ease, I am enabling some of my geocaches that aren't regularly found. I will monitor advice from government officials, geocaching HQ and the local reviewers with regards to enabling more or re-disabling these.
This cache will be disabled until the COVID-19 crisis is over. Please refrain from finding this geocache.
Thanks for the code word and a most enjoyable Adventure Lab cache.

We loved this puzzle. Sadly we were slower to work out what was needed than we should have been given Brad's background in the area. And J2's for that matter. But once the penny dropped things moved well.
Today was the day to find it as we left the area having just completed our 5000th cache.
A stroll into the bush and a find in the first spot checked. Love that.
Love your work.

I planned to do this last time i was in the area, but couldn't solve it so had leave it blue. Sometime earlier when having a coffee at the Tritonz house, I discussed this with Lorraine who had recently solved it. I like Day puzzles and how they work, so she helped me with the logical steps I needed to take.
Ahhhhhh....so those are just herrings! Ahh! That's right. That makes sense now!
A long weekend away with Pacman covering over 2000km across 5 days, covering the Victorian and NSW Alps, had us stopping in Beechworth after a late dinner in town. This was the one find planned, and we tackled this with head torches making the descent into the gully. Good thing not THAT gully, as that's a fair old drop. A nice easy find once within a few m.
Thanks Day - they all make sense in the end! Well constructed puzzle, and as always, GZ.

Day 1 of an epic 5-day roadtrip hiking and 4WDing between the Alpine and Kosciuszko National Parks with Jacko.
10pm when we got to GZ and I felt as much in the dark there as I did trying to solve the puzzle. Personally I felt quite a sense of achievement just figuring out where the geochecker was.
I don't know if Russians help or hinder someone who wants to become King or President. Anyway, I can categorically state there was no Russian or Ukrainian influence used in locating this cache.
Thanks day1976.

#13902. Oh happy day! Joy and happiness and a smilie face on this fantabulous puzzle! I even dropped one of my Sapphire Mask Pathtags to celebrate. I have looked at this many times since it was published back in 2014. It has haunted and taunted me. After it was found recently I decided it was time to look at it seriously and lo and behold suddenly I had a hunch and then another hunch and so it went. I sent messages to the CO for confirmation that I was on the correct line of thought before wasting any more energy on it. I plodded on over a week or two and finally Rob provided the one hint I needed to progress with further investigation to a green tick. It made my day!
Now that I have solved it, it is definitely one of my favourite puzzles solved!. Favourite point from me!
An interesting GZ and fortunately not as dastardly a terrain as I was suspecting. Maybe a little bit of local knowledge helped here. A pleasant stroll to GZ for a find and sign and we were on our way again.
Thanks day1976

We had a quick look at this one when it first came out, but couldn't get started.
Apart form the T5s around the area this was one of the few BB hasn't done, so when I was on night shift she got stuck into it.
Stuck was the operative word until I got home. We both had a look but only got a little bit further.
Slept on it and had some more ideas by the morning, and by the time I got home from work, an answer was produced.
Today we went out to our GZ.
Interesting spot, I had never seen the trail that goes along here. They are threatening to reopen it for bikes in the future.
The cache should be safe though.
Thanks, Robmc.
Apart form the T5s around the area this was one of the few BB hasn't done, so when I was on night shift she got stuck into it.
Stuck was the operative word until I got home. We both had a look but only got a little bit further.

While I did not solve this puzzle, I was on board for the find. We found a suitable parking spot and then proceeded to walk in...cautiously...the weather was warming up and I did not want to meet any slithery things. We managed to find the cache, sign, replace, retreat; all without incident! Thanks day1976, a favourite from me.
This Mystery is a doozy, we loved it from the start to the finish ....even if we did need a help with one element of it. Bec said to say it wasn’t her
Very very clever Needing this DT combination 4.5/3.5 to finish our 15th loop we have been hanging out to make the find. Today in the company of beckNmonts and McLookers the trek was made from the closet point possible where the cache was found easily, much to our delight.
A favourite for sure.
Thanks so much day1976 for the great puzzle and cache.

Wow. Finally a break through on this puzzle that we tried solving long ago.
So when looking to do a trip to the area this one came up and the team got thinking. What sort of masterful moves did we have to make to conquer this one. Well we tried this and that and then all the moves came together and green on the checker.
So today it was time for collection and while we took one way in we took the other one out.

I think you have it out for me Day. If I’m not giving myself headaches staring at puzzles that turn out to be very clever, I’m walking through blackberries, getting scratched to death. I did, however enjoy the walk once I was past that stage. However, you know how you always find the easy way to the cache after you are already there? Nope, on this occasion I took the easy route to the cache and couldn’t find it for the way back! I found it eventually. TFTC & TFTP (A favourite point from me) day1976

On a weekend road trip with Papillon4506, GeoTurtle37 & ahomburg, with various solved puzzles, night caches & anything else that was on our path.
The solve came after many nights of head-scratching, brain-storming, and lots of coffee.
The cache however, was quite a bit easier to locate, although our GPSrs had us wandering in all different directions at first.
Thanks for the awesome puzzle, the cache and for playing a part of our weekend adventure, day1976.
A fav point for the clever puzzle.

I actually sort of had a part in the solving of this puzzle which is quite surprising, lol. So close and yet so far unfortunately.
Set off for the long weekend with Papillon4506, OzHockeyChick and ahomburg to make an attempt on "the" infamous skullracing night cache on the border.
Took a little while to locate this cache but we soon had it in hand, signed and returned. Back to the cars and on we go. Thanks for the cache.

Picked this one up on a long weekend road trip With Geoturtle37, OzHockeyChick and ahomburg. Whilst I was there for the find I claim no credit for solving this puzzle. I was present for one evening group attack on the puzzle, but it was way too clever for me. Jumpy gps readings meant we took a couple of minutes to zero in on the hide, but we were soon on our way again with one more smiley to mark our progress. Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the cache.

Find #8617
Heading interstate for the Queens Birthday long weekend with OzHockeyChick, Geoturtle37 and Papillon4506 with the main aim an epic skullracing night cache as well as anything else we felt like doing along the way. The Weather was looking like it was going to be kind to us, despite winter being here, the sun was out most of the daylight hours.
This was the first on my list of solved puzzles, it took some time and required the meeting of several minds before I got a tick in the checker. Getting to GZ was not too hard, although the GPS signal in the area sent us all around in circles for a while.
Many thanks to day1976 for the cache. TNLN.

I was on leave so plans were made to head to the Beechworth area with My good Mate the Roostaman, Today we were on a mission to bring up our Miles stones of 15000 and 13000 cache finds, We had a great day bike riding and Four Wheel Driving. Yhis was in the solve pile and had a a heap of unloved on it. There was a dead deer close to GZ, we were smelling in for the next 15 minutes it was so bad LOL. Thanks day1976 for the cache.
**# 15005** Found on an absolutely excellent adventure with Rebel Acts.
A cloudy spring day for a fantastic 4wdrive trek around the Beechworth area.
We were on a mission for my 15,000th and Rebels 13,000th finds.
We approached this one with caution after all the rain and wondered if it would still be there.
Luckily when we got to GZ it was a quick find.
Thanks for the cache day1976,
***Roostaman***

Back when I started caching this is what puzzles were like, real mysteries with clues and everything in front of you, just had to put it all together and make sense of it to work it out.
It's a shame they are more like "guess what to do with this" these days.
Thoroughly enjoyed going through it with the brains trust, Mrs H to get an answer, very cleverly done.
Won't say too much more about that to give anything away
Confident that there wasn't going to be too much of a rush to the FTF we left it overnight to make the find early this morning, followed by a coffee afterwards.
Can't even say much about Gz as it would give it away for some locals, will say it was good that was early morning and coolish
TFTC, TNL - Fave point , Cheers

Joint *FTF* with our best mate DazRascal on an early morning cache run.
First of all, we'd like to congratulate you on a fantastic puzzle, the kind we really enjoy, one with meaning, a story and a lesson.
All this, with subtle clues that lead you to the destination with a decent amount of head scratching in between, but all in all, falling into place nicely.
A fantastic challenge and one we enjoyed nutting out together
The penny dropped a bit late last night, so an early morning trip to GZ to make the find was in order with Daz before he went to work. Without giving away too much, we didn't quite dress for the terrain we encountered (As always) & our smallest Ez boy had a great time pretending to be a snake hunter! EEEK!
Once we signed the log (the lucky ones who didn't have to work) we headed to Yackandandah for a well earned iced coffee and a wander around the street.
Thank you to day1976 for adding this fantastic puzzle to the area.
SL, TNLN.
Two thumbs up from us and a Fave for sure!
