What a perfect day to search for a Geocache. The weather was spot on! No wind, no rain, temp was at a cool 19 degrees and I was visiting a place I had never been too before.I was lucky enough to be chauffeured by Mr Sims_Family who had his eyes on a couple of challenge caches that I'm WAY off from claiming.Love a good game of marbles :p Cache was found quick enough even with my GPS playing up.Beautiful view from here.
Donutholes and I planned the day at Mount Beckworth to grab everything we could around the back of the mountain. The weather for the day was magnificent and we had a ball enjoying the wonderful space. The Ginja Ninja made short work of all the trails getting us close with only short walk to most of the caches. This little section of the trail had a sign up saying management Vehicles only so it was on foot for the five caches up here. Thank you wozzle68 for the series
Another nice and easy find on this lovely autumn day. The kids are loving the bush bashing
Last one along the walk here and the one that took the longest to find. No sure why, just a bit of cache blindness I guess, however eventually all was good and the log was being signed. Cache was replaced and I then followed the trail all the way down to the main trail and then the car.
Thanks for this one and the walk along here. Bit of exercise and a few caches, so all is good.

Another few hours mopping up most of the remaining caches on Mt Beckworth. As I wandered up the ridge the rain settled in, but with no wind was not unpleasant. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Found day 3 of a somewhat impromptu solo caching and camping trip to Victoria from Adelaide.
I had planned to spend a week travelling, caching and camping along the Great Ocean Road, but my travelling companion had to postpone it due to other commitments. I was still keen to go away somewhere this week as well, so decided to head to the western part of the state on my own.
I created a bit of a 'menu' of specific caches of interest in the broad area that I might be in before I left home and just pottered along fairly casually, taking in the sights and grabbing what I could along the way.
I wasn't actually planning to visit this area, but I somehow managed to end up here and it was a good place to camp with what looked like some interesting walks and caches to find.
This morning I walked up to the summit and back from Manna Gums, finding this cache along the way.
Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

A great day with Shumba7 enjoying all the Beckworth Beckons series has to offer. Lots of smiles collected and enjoyed. Thanks Wozzle68 for more fun times. They are some serious tom bowlers.
TFTC. Quick find with Algae today and a day exploring the Mount Beckworth area. Nice day to be out and about not too hot and not too cold. A great day with a couple of hikes and driving around the area. Loads of marbles around here. Think I may have lost my marbles somewhere along the way....

*Found on the 14 Nov 2020 @ 12:35 pm.*
*Cache find # 11079.*
We made it to this point and was soon able to locate the cache, now it was time to turn around and head back to the car.
On our return we found that the 4X4’s didn’t make it passed Rock on and had turned around and headed back as well.
Finally we are able to get out and about so we headed for Mt.Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick.
I have been to Mount Beckworth a number of times now to try to find them all and after today it was nearly done but there are still 4 remaining, maybe one day.
**Thanks to wozzle68 for placing this cache.**

We're camping at Manna Gums and after lunch I decided to rush up to this cache and back again before I had to get back to my remote job. It was a bit of a climb going up, and up, and up to where I easily found this cache but the run back down was great and exciting fun!
Thanks
Thanks
Found on our midweek getaway to Clunes. Didn’t expect that we were going to be doing such hard core 4WDing today as we followed the map around Mount Beckworth Reserve. This was the last cache we found on the way up to the summit before having to turn back as the final climb was a bit too much for the new-ish 4WD that hadn’t been kitted out with a winch just yet. Soon! We got to the 600m mark on the map and had to call it a day. TFTC
A visit to Mt Beckworth has consistently been on the cards since I was last here back in 2016. I still had the series to finish, plus there are some tempting new challenging challenges to be found. Today the planets finally lined up and together with Jacko, A and Anikano we made a day of it enjoying this great bushland.
Some big marbles there. Can't lose them too easily. Speaking of losing marbles, this reminded me of one of my favourite jokes.
Judge : "But Mickey, you can't divorce Minnie just because she's crazy!"
Mickey Mouse : "Your honour, I didn't say she was crazy, I said she was ..."
Thanks Wozzle68.

It pays to read the cache name and the hint before you start searching. Derrr. “Marbles” not “tree trunk” (which is where my GPS wanted me to be). A quick find once some common sense was switched on haha! TFTC
Lots of marbles.
Too many marbles to choose from. But found the cats eyes that hid the cache.

We had arrived in this very beautiful area yesterday evening, and by the end of a thoroughly enjoyable late afternoon/early evening geocaching hike we had found 11 of the caches in the area. We then spent last night at Manna Gums campsite. This morning we set off on foot for what our GPS recorded as having been a 7 hour, 13 kilometre geocaching hike, with a total ascent of 585 meters and a total descent of 561 meters. After returning to our waiting hired cache-mobile we then drove on to find the rest of the caches in the area. We then spent a second night at Manna Gums campsite before leaving the Reserve, by which time the Mount Beckworth Scenic Reserve had become one of our all time favourite places we have visited in Australia - plus of course we left this geocaching playground with a full house of smilies! - not to mention the thrill of a gorgeous little Echidna who late in the day walked right up to me and then sat down between my feet - I felt so privileged! This was the next cache for us to search for, which was soon located once at Ground Zero - being towards the end of our hilly geocaching circular hike it was also a good excuse to pause for a quick breather! We signed the log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe
This is as far as we got heading for the peak. The Jeep got to try out its new accessories and a decent sized rock decided to taste the rims. At one point , she seemed to be well stuck but putting the rock sliders to good use proved the best way to get herself out. The 80 series did it quite a bit easier but care still had to be taken. We decided that we couldn't/shouldn't go any further so that is it for today in this direction. Having a fabulous time up here. Thanks for the caches.
The Grand gCAV has done well in getting us this far but this would prove to be the last cache for the day as discretion would be displayed when we were just odd 200m short of the summit. Truth be told we probably pushed the town tyres too hard in getting this far; the rock sliders and rims would be pin striped on the way back down.

Number 4 on my hike today. These boulders would certainly make a very interesting game of marbles! Very grateful there's a breeze blowing today, and just enough clouds in the sky to make it the perfect day for caching. TFTC
Out with perpetually lost driving, muzza and just1YsTassie to find a few caches. A bit of a hill climb to this just to test our dedication and fitness TFTC wozzle68
I wasn't attending the mega this weekend, so I thought the "Easter Escape" event at Mount Worth sounded like a nice day trip, so I planned to attend, and just see whatever happened thereafter. Another enjoyable walk and the cache was found after a minute or two of searching. Found with Perpetually Lost, au.fait and 2y'stassies.
Once again, thanks for the cache, wozzle68.
Once again, thanks for the cache, wozzle68.
After attending Wozzle 68's event today i still had time to find a few more caches before i needed to head home to take the family to Bendigo for the Easter Lantern Parade tonight. After being reassured that my 4wd geomobile would have no problems on the lower part of the Northern Ridge Track i offered to take a team with me to tackle the area. So with Au Fait, Mrs 2y'stassies and Muzza taking up the spare seats off we went.
This one was the most challenging for us with 3 of us having identical gps readings but not being able to locate the cache. As we were about to widen the search area Muzza had already looked a bit further away and finally spotted a clue where the cache was hidden.
A great mornings caching Wozxle68, i had a great time finding them all today! Cheers

Whilst at wozzles68's Easter Escape event perpetuallylost offered a seat in his geomobile to go on a track to look for another four caches in the area. Mrs 2y'stassies joined two others and perpetuallylost and headed off. After parking nearby, the group headed off on foot to the cache. Accurate coordinates, the hint and a group effort resulted in the well hidden cache being in hand rather quickly. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks wozzle68 for this cache and others in the area, and to perpetuallylost for providing the transport.

Another much needed breather from peddling the bike uphill, and after a little more circumnavigation I spotted what looked like the hide and it was. Back to the bike to continue uphill...

Out for a walk today to find the last few caches remaining for us on my beckworth. TFTC.
Our GPS was bouncing around everywhere up here so we put it away and searched with our not so well honed in intuition. Took us longer then I'd like to admit! But eventually found something that looked promising and bingo!

Another few hundred metres walk to this one gave even more stunning views and more amazing rocks. A nice easy find here before we hightailed it back down to get to footy on time. Thanks for a fabulous series. I've got the caches on the other side left now!
TFTC - Out with Crackers from team Crack'n'LeeLee exploring the area and collecting caches in this series.
Out and about today with Ed from 2beez to check out the camping possibilities here and grab a few of this series as well.
Ed is on a roll today spotting this one as well. Signed log and decided to wander back to the car at the oval instead of pushing on to the summit.

Found with becca85, boo09 & muggle uncle in his 4x4. Lots of fun!TFTC, sorry for late log.
The road did indeed get worse! Thankfully this one was a nice quick find.
Mt Beckworth has been the location of my closest un-found caches for quite some time now (minus the occasional newbie that pops up which is of course converted quick smart)...
I had found all of the caches along one road a couple of years ago in my super low XR6 and that was not ideal.
Last week my brother in law bought himself a 4WD but no-one was interested in going 4WD'ing with him. No-one except me anyway!
I promised to take him to a good location to test out his new rig if he promised not to whinge about stopping for some caches.
We set off after lunch with boo09 & neisha07 in tow and while they had a wonderful time, I discovered I may have a little bit of anxiety.
We made our way from Gnarly dude to up several hundred metres past Marbles before I chickened out and convinced brother in law it was best we turn back.
Hopefully his first adventure geocaching was not too horrible and we can convince him to take us out again to finish off some more.
I think we will access Hanging around from the opposite direction next time!
Although I still have many more to go, it was great to knock off a chunk of the Beckworth caches. TFTC!

A cool spot for a cache find with friends, including the CO himself!
2/5/17 - A great spot that now has a smiley on the map This is one of many caches we targeted and found today.
Oh my goodness, yet another day out with the hilarious boys - Wozzle68 and Snap Happy, once again the giggles were non-stop. [^] I think we all got an education . We cached in Mt Beckworth where Pete got to show off his spectacular 4WD skills, and also cached in various spots all the way to Maryborough where we attended a dinner event.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I've had a big, but generally a relaxing couple of weeks away in Victoria from SA.
Ballarat, Border track, Pinnaroo, Bendigo, Wedderburn, Swan Hill, Maryborough, Mt Beckworth and Mt Gambier are just a few of the spots I have visited during my caching trip. There was an emergency room visit, loads of driving, stacks of laughter, amazing food, lots of new learnings (oh my goodness!!), and a wonderful mix of fabulous people.
I am loving this country and getting out and about in it!
Thanks for the cache wozzle68!

Approach to this one was certainly the challenge.....and hairy! Gee the water has altered the path considerably. Once at GZ we saw an amazing sunset and found the cache, thanks wozzle68.
Seems I was a little premature in my last log (at Rock on). I turned the page on Mrs Ps extensive caching notes to note that this was our last cache for the day. I think I am losing my marbles!!!!!!!!!!
Again thanks for the caches today - thanks for adding some adventure to our day!

Today was planned with a cache trip to Ballarat and the Mt. Beckworth area for another geocaching adventure. DAB, Ausfox and myself met early, packed the geo vehicle with plenty of drinks as we knew today was going to be a hot day and we were on our way. We made it to our destination for the day and were greeted with a very hot Mt. Beckworth. Plenty of tall, dry grass which would have been a snakes paradise but thankfully none were seen. This area saw us definitely push the terrain rating, I would not recommend a small car for this section. Even in the 4WD, it was interesting at times, but fun. The views were nice but were were struggling in the heat at this stage. We had to ditch the 4WD as the road was undriveable at this point. This one found quickly and thank goodness as we rushed back to the car for another drink. Stamped and replaced as found.
**Thanks for placing this trad cache and series wozzle68**
**Cache container and log in good order**
**Took nothing, Left nothing**

Joined up with Na'wal and DAB to spend the day caching around Ballarat and Mt Beckworth. I'm glad we stocked up with fluids as as the temperature soared. With the long dry grass we were weary of snakes.
This was the highest we would attempt today due to the temperature and the amount of water we would need on such a day. With the cache found we were keen to get back down to the retreat of the car.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache wozzle68

Today I was in the company of Ausfox; and Na'wal. There had been a bit of chatter about Mt.Beckworth recently, so we decide to give this series a crack. I had never been here before, so I was really looking forward to it. We knew it was going to be warm and even though our phones said it was 31 degrees, it felt a lot warmer than that by early afternoon. Apart from a couple of walkers around the back of the mountain, we had the whole area to ourselves. This was our second find on foot. Thankfully a quick find, then we descended back to the car. TFTC wozzle68
Our last cache at Mt Beckworth this morning and the legs just starting to feel the uphill walk. Enjoyed all your caches this morning and thanks wozzle68 for placing a great series. TFTC
Well this was going to be a big day for Suscoe.
Up early and off with long shadows stretching across the ground in the early morning.
A sunny day with the temperature around 30 degrees during the afternoon was going to be warm but thankfully a breeze sprung up during the morning and kept going all day and so it cooled Suscoe down at times when it was most needed.
This was the 19th find of the day.
Parked at the end of the track up the middle and walked to these five caches.
Thank goodness this brings the main up hill part of the day to an end, hopefully!!!!!!!
Oh it is so good to be heading down hill again and much quicker too.
Glad to leave the XR6 at the bottom.
Thanks to wozzle68 for the treat with these five.

TFTC. Enjoying the caches around here very much Thanks again wozzle68. A little of effort for this one. Hiked up from the Dam. Round and round up here as the GPS lead us on a merry dance. Finally after having enough of that, we found it were we thought it should be (if we were planting a cache) and there it was.
Spent the day out with Yogster, Jageredwings and families. Had 5 Retrivers with us and the all had a ball. Thanks for the hides Wozzle.
TFTC. Out for the day with the GeoFamily and half of Clan McStormy to conquer the Beckworth Beckons Series, cache number 21.
I think I must have had rocks in my head after walking up to this one. Spun around in circles a few times with the GPS before McStormy said the magic words. Was so close to a PAF with this as it just wasn't jumping out at any of us.

Catching up on some late, very late and extremely late logs (400 in all)
I would like to thank wozzle68 for placing this cache. I always enjoy getting out and about to view this great country of ours and caching allows me to do that. Once at GZ, I sometimes find the cache quickly but sometimes it takes awhile to sus out the well camouflaged hide. Once found, log is signed and the cache is rehidden as found.

We were here with micaparamedic to help Highrod and The morris celibate their 10 years of caching but also hoping to grab a few more of this fantastic series.
This was the next and the last before we had to turn around so as to get to the event.
What a nice way to finish we both enjoy geology so we were really in our element here looking at the rocks and discussing how they came to be where they are.
The cache was located in the third place we looked and our name has been added to the log.
Again our thanks wozzle68 for a fun morning.

We are on a road trip to attend "The Melbourne Event" Mega, taking our time to get there and on the return journey. Fortunately, there were lots of caches along the way to tempt us to stop for a while to smell the roses. This was one of those caches.
We had made our way to Ballarat to attend the GIFF Event and having been told about another event to be held at Mount Beckworth, we decided we would attend that one to and find the nearby caches. After spending time with everyone at the Mount Beckworth event, we headed off on our cache hunt, but we soon caught up with others along the way.
Thank you wozzle68 for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy

Found by Mary & David with Alansee at 1510. Our last cache along this particular track. A few big marble lying around here. Found the cache after a short search, then headed back down the hill. Our thanks to wozzle68.
Found with Maccamob after a searchof a couple of minutes or so, although it was in a logical place. We appreciated the views on the way back to the vehicle.

Find number 28 of 40, around Mount Beckworth today. They do look like marbles! Lucky there was a pen in the cache as I left my pencil in the car. Thanks for the cache, and the series wozzle68.

The walk to this cache was really enjoyable and exploring the rocky outcrops was lots of fun. We would loved to have continued the longer walk onto the southern caches, but we had other commitments (that we've promised not to mention again) to get back to today. TFTC Wozzle68
Out for a walk and happened to pass by this spot so, naturally, had to grab the cache. Many thanks Wozzle68.
Things are pretty busy at home at the moment as we start to pack up prior to our big move. There are lots of things to do....and I really don't feel like doing any of them. Therefore it seemed a lot more sensible to load up the ute and go caching.
I have been wanting to give the Mt. Beckworth caches a crack for a while now, so it seemed like no time like the present. With the cloud cover, the GPS was all over the shop (talking to someone else who was caching elsewhere at the same time they were having the same issues), however a bit of geosense soon got me over the line.
A bit of a walk up the summit track from Rock On took me to where the rocks grew bigger.
The GPSr started its jumping (again) and I was going here, there and everywhere in order to keep up with the oscillations. However soon something looked just a little off, a little cachey if you will, and bang, there it was.
With the log signed it was time to enjoy the walk back to the vehicle. TFTC.

We travelled over to spend the weekend camping at Mt Beckworth and complete the well regarded series.
Mr Morris was dispatched up to this one with some clear instructions. He loved the views

Last one before 'game on'. Nearly didn't find it. Luckily I approached from a different direction and tried something that worked. These marbles are rather big!
Now I have to get scrabble and the game. running out of time too.

I came to Mt Beckworth to do this series of caches on a cool Sunday as I thought a cooler day would suit me in this type of terrain. All in all it took me 4 and a half hours to do this series plus the 2 caches up on the summit. Luckily I found everything which can sometimes be tricky when there is just one of you!
Lots of prep work last night to read logs and make sure I missed nothing including solving the puzzles.
I love a ridge walk on a fine day and this fitted the bill nicely. Lots of places to hide a cache around here. Glad I chose the right spot to find it.
Thanks wozzle68 for a terrific series of caches!

Wow what an outstanding collection of caches – variety, surprise, fun and ingenuity all around Mt Beckworth! We had a great day working our way around the series with our caching pals Ian & Penny.
Lots of marbles to play with here and the satellites had our GZ 12m SE of where we found the cache.
Thanks to wozzle68 for the hunt.

Hi there wozzle68. We found your cache "Marbles - Beckworth Beckons" at 11:49:00 AM today in the company of phetlern. This cache makes our find count 10234.

We thoroughly enjoyed our cache run today, it took us to some wild and wonderful places - and the scenic views from some spots were absolutely stunning despite the rain. We definitely wouldn't have found all these wonderful places if it weren't for our obsession.
(Please excuse our cut 'n' paste logs today.)[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: We found the cache around 2 metres from where the GPS said we should be looking. [:(!]
Cache Condition: The container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Novelty Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Found this series with Sully1 and Tessie the geodog on a warm day here in Central Vic.
A great series with a variety of clever and tricky hides that is definitely not a walk in the park.
This one took us ages after walking most of the way. GZ had us in all areas, the GPS just wouldn't settle anywhere for long here. Gladly Sully came up with it in the end
Thanks again Wozzle68

Bogonghazy and I packed a Picnic Lunch and headed for Mt Beckworth today. 28 degrees, no snakes, but a wonderful array of varied caches. We had a decent lunch break in the shade at the first Picnic area, and took Tess the Geodog for a bit of swim in the dam across the track for her to cool down whilst here. The series probably took us a bit longer than 5 hrs (excluding lunch), as there were a few caches we hadn't come prepared for. We hunted high and low (and in one or two places that I had nightmares of removing one rock and the rest tumbling down on top of me, LOL), and then hunted some more. I was about to suggest we leave it go, and then read through some previous logs, suggesting we could be a bit off the mark. Widened the search, and Eureka. Thanks for the hunt wozzle68 and for the whole series.
Last of the hiking, climbing caches into the Mt Beckworth Scenic Reserve for me today. Those are some big agates. Wonder if they ever break loose and roll off down the hill, scary thought! TFTC wozzle68.
Worked a 12 hour night shift then picked up my chauffeur, and we drove straight to Mount Beckworth (when I say we, BettyBoo3747 did all the driving, and I did all the snoozing!)
We arived about 9am and spent about 5 hours (including lunch), travelling around doing the Beckworth Beckons series. An excellent collection of caches with quite a bit of variety.
The furthest one up the hill we did today (just to avoid a revolt form the bike riding member of the party!)
Would be difficult to play marbles with these rocks!
Back down the hill to see if we had worked out the final correctly.
Thanks, Robmc.

# 7136. Robmc and I left Williamstown at 7.00am headed for the new series at Mt Beckworth. After reading a few logs saying how long they took and the trickiness of some of the hides I was filled with dread. Especially seeing the first simple one of the series was a DNF on the way in, after a very long search.
Having gained some strength and a bit of new life after our rest and our lunch we are off to finish the last few - we hope. It proves to be the harder section of the series too. I have never done 4x4 driving before but as I am the chauffeur today I have to bite the bullet and have a go..... Not terribly keen on the going up but the coming back down again was a bit easier. We didn't venture as far as some however - by the tyre tracks we saw. We resorted to the shanks pony method of transport and parked before The Oval.
Fortunately this is the last one up here as I have just about had enough of trudging along in the heat. We decide not to play marbles whilst we are here but decide to look for a cache instead. Bingo - success, now back to the chariot admiring the views on both sides on the way down.
Thanks wozzle68

Wow it's a long way up here, fortunately the Triton was able to make it easy, almost a drive by. One half shut their eyes while the other drove...
Up in Ballarat today to visit family and to do this new series . The weather was shitty on the way up but thankfully we now have sunshine to enjoy this beautiful area.

Find No. 755. Found with FUF009 at 3.35pm
With FUF009 and our Geo dog Penny, we all headed off for a day's caching to do the Beckworth Beckons series which is a relatively new trail put out by Wozzle68 who we met for the first time at our events in October.
FUF009 says it all in his log.
Appreciated the effort on the hide and location. Think we are getting into billygoat country now.

After making a decision to spend the day caching together, I hitched a ride with Tyred n Cranky and their Geo dog Penny down to do this relative new series of caches.
Well we knew that Tyred n Cranky's van wouldn't make it up this hill so the decision was made to park near an earlier find and leg it up the hill. plan was to get the four caches of this series and then to continue on to the top for the 2 older caches.
Long story short, To the top and back 4ks, 2h50min, 6 caches, and 3 drenched adults and one wet dog, yep we got caught in the rain on the way down. but one hell of a memory and a lot of fun.
the co ords had us a little off on this cache but we believe it may have been the heavy cloud cover or the oncoming storm or even the rocks in the area, but after widening the search radius it was Mrs Tyred n Cranky who made the find.

Continuing our walk up the hill and soon we were at GZ area. The GPS was a little off here and we had to widen our search before we came up this the goods. We found out much later that the 600t has two Geocaching settings and we were on the wrong one so things did improve. Despite there being plenty of marbles around it ws pretty easy to zero in on the right one. We decided not to walk the extra 1k to the other cache at the top this time. Maybe some other time.

Found on a hot day caching with Fergzter after parking the ute close to Rock On we walked up to this one. Such a great place and after finding the cache I went to the top of this rise for the view before heading back to the car vier Rock On. TFTC.
We persisted with the geoUte in this increasingly rough, rocky and precarious track but we got to one point where we would have bottomed out on a boulder so we reversed a little way and pulled off the track only about 70m of the Rock On cache. We then decided to walk the last 400m to this hide. As we made the final ascent the wind was rolling in rather hard and some branches were falling around us so we made the find before heading back down hill. We will come back to make find the cache at the summit another day when its not so hot. More photos taken and was reminded at how unfit I am. TFTC Wozzle68
Found by Roma and Max.
Marbles, yonnies, boulders of all shapes and sizes!
We did have to widen our search area a little here but we did find your container in an obvious niche.
Thanks once more for the effort you have made in establishing this series.

from Romax.
