What a perfect day to search for a Geocache. The weather was spot on! No wind, no rain, temp was at a cool 19 degrees and I was visiting a place I had never been too before.I was lucky enough to be chauffeured by Mr Sims_Family who had his eyes on a couple of challenge caches that I'm WAY off from claiming.A nice and simple letterbox here. I really enjoyed reading the story about the Jack Russell and what was needed to get her out of a tricky spot. Thanks for the hide.
Awesome find kids and I loved it, left something. Tried to sign book but pen wasn't working
Not quite sure how, but I managed to persuade/bribe my non-hiking teenager to come with me today. I had a crazy idea, that once she experienced the quiet, fresh air and views, she'd understand why I love it & need it so much........... um!! Wrong!! I guess doing Bogong & Mt Feathertop together is still a long way off........ Geolabradog was very happy to be out again & thankfully didn't get buried anywhere. The story reminded me though of years gone by with my local foxhound pack. When the fox went to ground, a terrier (with a tracker) was put in....... many holes were dug retrieving wedged terriers!! Thankfully scottish soil is much easier to dig. Many thanks
Absolutely love this story, it has a good ending and the owner went to so much trouble. Well done! We just love dogs too Thanks for such a great cache A favourite from us
Came out to find a camp site and this cache as l needed the attribute for a letterbox challenge.
Jessie’s tale was such incredible story! 7 days! I just can’t imagine. It just goes to show how pets truely are family.
I always love finding an ammo can and I was really excited to collect this one here. I’d never visited Mt. Becksworth before so I’ll be back to collect the rest.
The cache and contents were all in good condition with only a little bit of water in the can which I tipped out.
Thanks for the cache here, a favourite point for the tale and the spot.

I found myself at a loose end this morning mooching around the house wondering which chores i would tackle today. Bored with the possibilities i decided to escape for a while with a spot of caching. That was the perfect idea and brightened my mood instantly. Now where to go? An area i havnt been to before, perhaps with some walking in nature and a good few caches to find. Mt Beckworth looks like an excellent target, lets go! The geopooch and i were quickly in the geomobile and away.
I just loved the fantastic story which came with this cache, I gave the geopooch a hug on the strength of it even though she was wet. And who doesnt love a letterbox in a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing all of this with me.

on our way home i thought it was just light enough for us to get another cache so my grandpa and i went off. really liked this one thought i was going to struggle with how to actually work the lock but i got it. my younger cousin had left just too early to trade something, he would've like all the little things inside.
beautiful moon followed us out aswell. nicely done

What a tale of survival...and a neat cache to tell the tale. Wasn't far from the car and once at the GZ area the cache was soon in hand. Soon had it opened and the log signed before heading back to the car and heading off for the next one.
Thanks for the story and the cache wozzle68...fav point for all that.

I spent the bulk of today wandering around Mt Beckworth, getting some exercise ahead of this weekend's Australasian Rogaine Champs near Avoca. Apart from being in cloud, there was very little rain, however it was very wet underfoot. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Well this a tale of love. Poor doggie can sure be glad to have such a wonderful owner. Both catnap777 and I were quite moved by the story that is attached to this simple lock box.
After a huge day on Mt Beckworth, catnap777 and I had crawled back to our camp in Clunes, freshened up and hit the town for every cache we could get our greedy mits on.
Next morning we did it all over again on the northern half of Mt Beckworth.

What an awesome story. Even this cat thought so!
Beckworth Beckons, what an awesome series of caches. The variety of caches were exciting, and you were not sure what you would come across next. Some of the puzzles were testing, and it turned out we had to leave one behind as we could not solve it in time for our trip. All in all a superb set of caches wozzle68.
Found and signed with dalerious on a Mt Beckworth adventure. dalerious told me about the mount Beckworth challenges and series of caches not long after we met. We were looking forward to the day that would take us to this wonderful place, with it's varied assortment of cache types. It had so many positives. We had a full list, as usual, and I am so proud to say that we ticked off everything on it, and more!
We were staying in Clunes as our base for this long weekend and started our first night here with the Adlabs and their respective bonus caches .
We ended up cleaning out Clunes, all but one trad which we are sure is missing.
Our time in this town, and on Mt Beckworth was memorable . I was so excited searching for an archived cache in a secret cave. It never ceases to amaze me what you can achieve with a little pinch of determination and a whole lot of encouragement from dalerious .
We thank all the CO's for providing and maintaining the caches undertaken here. So grateful to you all .

Found day 3 of a somewhat impromptu solo caching and camping trip to Victoria from Adelaide.
I had planned to spend a week travelling, caching and camping along the Great Ocean Road, but my travelling companion had to postpone it due to other commitments. I was still keen to go away somewhere this week as well, so decided to head to the western part of the state on my own.
I created a bit of a 'menu' of specific caches of interest in the broad area that I might be in before I left home and just pottered along fairly casually, taking in the sights and grabbing what I could along the way.
I wasn't actually planning to visit this area, but I somehow managed to end up here and it was a good place to camp with what looked like some interesting walks and caches to find.
After walking up to the summit and back from Manna Gums this morning, I took a bit of a drive around the park.
Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

A nice stop here to find this cache today, the cache was found nicely tucked away and is all good
Today I made my way from Adelaide to Ballarat via a few caches and found myself in Mount Beckworth and a few other places, also making it a goal to complete majority of Ballarat geotour.
Odd being back in Victoria after over a year but it’s good to be back.
Thanks for the cache

We have decided to head off for a couple of days, with no particular destination in mind. As we stopped for lunch in Clunes, we decided to check out Mt Beckworth as a possible spot to camp for a couple of nights. It certainly helped that there is plenty of caches on offer, and we have solved most of the puzzles. We love a letterbox, and we love an ammo can, and we love dogs having three geodogs of our own. One was enjoying the walk today to find these caches. We made a quick find after making the mistake of a cross country walk instead of walking along the road. This meant we had to battle through a thicket of prickly wattle, which didn't look that deep but was about 30m long. Thankful for long sleeves and trousers, which meant they only caught hands and face. The ammo can is in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache wozzle68.
TFTC. Quick find with Algae today and a day exploring the Mount Beckworth area. Nice day to be out and about not too hot and not too cold. A great day with a couple of hikes and driving around the area. Great story. No stuck doggies here today, all though we saw a couple in the park on holidays with their hoomans.
A great day with Shumba7 enjoying all the Beckworth Beckons series has to offer. Lots of smiles collected and enjoyed. Thanks Wozzle68 for more fun times.
A nice easy find and retrieve. Especially compared to the dog rescue efforts.

Replaced the container, log, stamp etc. Also dried the Ammo can and put some oil on the lock.

I can't imagine how hard this would have been. To have to consider putting the little man down would have been unbearable. So pleased it wasn't necessary. Thanks for the cache.
We were staying in nearby Smythesdale so took the opportunity to come over here and try to complete the great Mount Beckworth caches, having done some on a previous trip.
We managed to drive to the top and didn't really have enough time to come back around this side as we needed to break camp today although there were only a couple left.
Just one more and here we are.
This is a beautiful story. There is nothing that most people won't do for their animal companions. It must have been devastating to have to consider putting him down and leaving him there.
Thanks for sharing this story of survival. A favourite for us.

Day Four...
WOW! Incredible tale of Jessie’s ordeal and rescue. What a tough little dog!
As others have noted, the logbook is totally drowned and covered in black mould and is unsignable.

I headed out with Steve on our first caching run since before the second lockdown. Ballarat, Mount Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick were our targets for today. This was an interesting story. Obtaining the combination for the lock presented no problem but the log book was very wet and going mouldy.

I was treading carefully around here after reading Jessie's tale
This place is like a glacier apparently !!
Full of crevasses to trap the unwary
So watch where you are going when chasing geocaches
No worries here though,
I was a bit big to fall through the cracks here
And the cache was soon rescued from its rocky tomb

An interesting little story with this one! The geodog Bentley was out with us today so fortunately no similar fate for him while he was exploring Beckworth. Love a good amo can. TFTC
Question is, who wouldn't do this for their dog. If Bentley was trapped under there, it would be moving heaven and earth. I wonder if he caught the rabbit however? An interesting little story right out the annuals of Beckworth history. Thanks!
Day 7 St Arnaud Campground to Mount Beckworth Reserve - Cork Oaks Camp ground
Found after completing the chalenge trail. Just grabbing caches along the route to our camp site.
We left St Arnaud and heading in the general direction of Mount Beckworth Reserve to the puzzle trail. We stopped along the way to get multi's,puzzles and any local coucil areas. This was one of a small number of caches found on route to the reserve. We had to fix a staked tyre before we left, so it was a late start. quick find.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

Day 2 of my road trip from Newcastle to St Arnaud for the upcoming mega event, and couldn't pass up the opportunity to visit this beautiful part of Victoria. What a story this is. Having crawled around in all sorts of tight squeezes and caves, it's probably a good thing I didn't read this story beforehand. Great to see the loyalty of man's friend best works both ways.

We're camping nearby at Manna Gums and I've come out for a bike ride and to grab a few caches. I'm all alone today as M is back in the caravan coughing his lungs up, poor boy.
I'd solved this puzzle a while ago but with no checker, I wasn't confident and my crappy iPhone GPS always adds an element of excitement and mystery to finding caches but I got there in the end!

Find #10128
With a Rogaining event happening tomorrow in Daylesford, I decided to make a weekend of it and camp out somewhere nearby. I had been wanting to get back to Beckworth for some time, so decided this was the ideal opportunity, so after ParkRun near home, I packed the car and off I went. The weather while not hot, was looking OK for a walk in the forest.
I had worked out some time ago the method to open this one, so was happy that once I had the container in hand, the opening method was indeed correct.
Many thanks to wozzle68 for the cache. TNLN.

Found as Nicnax with PapaGrouch and MazzyMay. I did my research at home and came prepared for this cache. I stamped and signed the log then replaced as found. TFTC
Logged as Nicnax with PapaGrouch and SciFiRulz. We headed out today to enjoy the adventure at Mount Beckworth and were not disappointed. We found all that we searched for in the many different positions, some hard, some easy, some gave us a giggle, some an aha moment but all just so much appreciated.
Found it with SciFiRulz and MazzyMay while I was tagging along for the day. TFTC
We had arrived in this very beautiful area yesterday evening, and by the end of a thoroughly enjoyable late afternoon/early evening geocaching hike we had found 11 of the caches in the area. We then spent last night at Manna Gums campsite. This morning we set off on foot for what our GPS recorded as having been a 7 hour, 13 kilometre geocaching hike, with a total ascent of 585 meters and a total descent of 561 meters. After returning to our waiting hired cache-mobile we then drove on to find the rest of the caches in the area. We then spent a second night at Manna Gums campsite before leaving the Reserve, by which time the Mount Beckworth Scenic Reserve had become one of our all time favourite places we have visited in Australia - plus of course we left this geocaching playground with a full house of smilies! - not to mention the thrill of a gorgeous little Echidna who late in the day walked right up to me and then sat down between my feet - I felt so privileged! Last night we had solved the puzzles in this lovely Scenic Reserve so that we could search for them today, but we hadn't got around to checking out this one, and so it was only once at Ground Zero that we could see a quick internet connection was required - so we dug out our mobile hotspot and hooked in - then after having found all the information required we were able to gain access to the log book. Thanks so much for the cache and for the story and greetings from Zimbabwe
TFTC. We had visited this cache last year , only to discover that the original sign had been removed and replaced by a new style. This was the first opportunity we have had since then to revisit. We had a mission today we wanted to get as many of the caches on Mount Beckworth as possible today to get closer to meeting the $00 with a twist challenge. There are also two caches here that will fill in a number on the D/T grid and also a month on the Ausmer challenge.
Finding the cache was easy. Opening it was another matter, We then re read the description and realised that we had missed a digit. The cache was then easily accessed.

While camping for the weekend with pprass like old times I went for a walk to check out this one. Needed to read a little to work out what was needed. What we do for our 4 legged friends. Good size container. Thanks for this journey wozzle68.
Found at 1:46 PM GAFF1.
We were concerned that we had missed something when we read the line "With internet being a bit spotty in the area it would be a good idea to do some homework before you head out.", but that just turned out to be unnecessary.
Gosh - so much effort and expense for Jessie - the owner must have really been attached to her.
Thanks wozzle68.

I read Jessies story last night so I had what was needed. Geo hubby was quick to spot the hide.
Having just arrived home yesterday evening after an 8 day trip away[|)], today it was time to head to Ballarat as Cybergran V had wanted to a ride to attend wozzle68's 50th birthday celebration.
Harry managed to find a tree branch while reversing and gave himself an injury: the rear window on the canopy shattered [xx(] at the 2nd cache find for the weekend and yet by the time this was discovered at Castlemaine, many kilometres later, nothing had fallen out of the gaping hole! Whew!! [^]
Cardboard and duct tape saved the day/weekend!
After attending the birthday celebration tea leafotwind, Rex and I headed out doing some caches until late in the night then after a good rest thanks to an extra room at leafotwind's accommodation (which was hugely appreciated [:X]), the next day we attended the breakfast event and then (after Cybergran V rejoined us) we headed out to claim some challenge caches accompanied for a short time by both Mrs and Mr Riddell
With the last cache of the 29 cache finds found at 6pm on the 5th, it was time for the drive back to Shepparton, having attended 2 events and only having 1 DNF and 1 Write note on a challenge cache that I do not yet meet.
As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up.
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! [^]

Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby

A bit of a read of the cache page was necessary. Always happy to see that type of container out in the bush or anywhere else really.
After having attended the second of the birthday events in Ballarat I had planned to tackle some Mt. Beckworth caches. I was joined by locus cache and CybergranV which proved fortuitous both from an energy/motivation standpoint after yesterday's 20km+ of walking as well as a couple of puzzle solves. A great day out. Thanks to either Wozzle68 or McLookers for putting out the caches and drawing me to the area.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of this some time ago and was keen to see where you had hidden the cache.
leafotwind located the cache and I opened it whilst locus cache was busy ensuring that Rex the GeoDog didn’t get into the same precarious position.
Thanks for the cache wozzle68, a favourite point for the story, for highlighting local history, and for the field puzzle.
Another letterbox, 9 more to go before I can log the cache at the bottom of the mountain.

Lucky I did my homework as the combination I thought I needed worked first time. Great backdrop to this cache with a clear view of the Mount. Enjoying some caching before attending Wozzle68's event then Bendigo for Easter Lantern parade tonight. Great write-up to the cache too.
*17/3/18, Found @ 6:25 pm, Find # 7698.*
Once again I was on a time schedule as I needed to be in Creswick at 7:00pm but seeing that this one is a letterbox cache, I had to find it before leaving the area.
I headed out and around from the challenge caches to this one, I arrived at GZ and found the cache quickly which was good but then I found something between me and the logbook which I wasn't prepared for.
Looking back at the cache page I found that I was meant to do some homework but what was it, I looked through the cache page time and time again but I wasn't seeing anything that was going to help me, I sent out an SOS to see what I was meant to be doing a reply came back and I though to my self I cant see that.
Now that I knew what to look for, I studied the cache page very carefully by enlarging it and studying each one closely and then I was able see a slight difference, it certainly does not help to be red blind on this one.
In the end I was able to beat my barrier and sign the log book.
**Thanks to wozzle68 for placing this cache.**

At GZ I realised that some homework had to be done. Luckily it didn't take long and I could access the cache.
Our 10th and final cache for the day. Attended an Event in Ballarat and had our eye on visiting Mt Beckworth. A place we had never been.
A lovely bush setting that we plan to return one day and grab a few more caches. A favourite point given for the letterbox container and beautiful bush setting.
Thanks **wozzle68**

Back to Mount Beckworth again for the second day in a row, this time armed with a Muggle husband and a slightly tougher car (well older/rustier which means I can bush bash and puddle hop a little more).
This one was a nice quick find with boo09 & neisha07 in tow. Well stocked and in great condition. A sad story with a great outcome. TFTC wozzle!

TFTC - Out with Crackers from team Crack'n'LeeLee exploring the area and collecting caches in this series. I'm glad Crackers finally got phone service, I could see he was not leaving without opening the cache. Great story!
Out and about today with Ed from 2beez to check out the camping possibilities here and grab a few of this series as well.
Found the container easily enough but then the fun started. Tried a few options but no joy. Luckily I had 1 bar of phone service so I could do the research I should have done at home. Got the required info and got to the log. A fav point for the story behind this one and who doesn't love an ammo can in the bush?

I managed to sign this one today while at the CITO event at Yarrowee River Trail. Lucky for me I was able to find the correct information on the cache page to access the log book.
I am very please to read that the little pooch was rescued and all ended happily
A favourite point for cache dedicated to a happy ending

Today I headed to Ballarat to attend the Yarrowee River CITO, with the expectation to do some caching afterwards. After the CITO I headed to try to finish the Symbol Series, then cached my way towards home. I signed the log on this one at the end of the CITO, not that the cache is normally nearby, but today it was in the hands of the owner, so a few of us managed to get our names on it, with his permission.
My thanks to wozzle68 for the cache and allowing us to log it.

Having done my homework the log book was soon accessed and signed.
Thanks Wozzle68.

Fascinating tale.
Woo hoo, I got to do Mr Beckworth with the fabulous CO himself.....I feel very privileged as it was a super awesome day filled with cool driving tracks and lots of walking. [^]
Well what an unexpected wonderful adventure this week turned out to be! I was meant to be in Alice Springs, but plans needed to change, so a relaxing trip to Victoria was the go.
Wozzle68 and I buddied up, and we ended up being great travel companions [^]....OMG, so much laughter , loud music [^], off-key singing and fun was had [:o)] [^]. We also teamed up with ChooknChunk and travelled in convoy to attend Mildura for '3 States in a Day' caching and events. What a great 4-some we made [^]....certainly brilliant dynamics [^], fabulous conversations [^] and loads of giggles [^]. I then stayed in Ballarat for a few days which was great fun.

We arrived here today to have a look around, as it's been on our to do list for some time. The grass is still long and dry, but we would keep a keen eye out as we walk for wildlife (Snakes).
The Park is quiet, although we did see two Rangers checking out facilities at Cork Oak Campground and also noticed someone had signed the log earlier today. Our plan was to check out the park, then pick up any caches that we came across, so we started off at the n/w corner first.
We didn't get all the caches in here, but will be back to tackle the higher caches and those we missed at a later date. We found the caches we looked for and all were in good condition, thankfully there are lots of caches here to enjoy.
We found the cache here quite easily, so thank you wozzle68 for this cache placement and the series here.

Always keen to do a letter box cache we headed over only to realise there was a little more to do. Fortunately we had down loaded enough of the page and completed the last stage to open the cache. We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC
This was my first cache today in the Mt Beckworth area, and a great one to start with! Dehands and I had decided that we needed a break from the kids and headed out. Fortunately, the weather was in our favour, and the letterbox was quickly located and logged. And no moving sticks! TFTC

Today was planned with a cache trip to Ballarat and the Mt. Beckworth area for another geocaching adventure. DAB, Ausfox and myself met early, packed the geo vehicle with plenty of drinks as we knew today was going to be a hot day and we were on our way. We made it to our destination for the day and were greeted with a very hot Mt. Beckworth. Plenty of tall, dry grass which would have been a snakes paradise but thankfully none were seen. We had worked on the info needed for this one prior and made a quick find. The lock was a little sticky but all ok. Stamped and replaced as found.
**Thanks for placing this letterbox cache and series wozzle68**

Joined up with Na'wal and DAB to spend the day caching around Ballarat and Mt Beckworth. I'm glad we stocked up with fluids as as the temperature soared. With the long dry grass we were weary of snakes.
Thankfully we were able to make a quick find, now to remember where input the other little bit of information. Now back the coolness of the car.
Signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the cache wozzle68

Today I was in the company of Ausfox; and Na'wal. There had been a bit of chatter about Mt.Beckworth recently, so we decide to give this series a crack. I had never been here before, so I was really looking forward to it. We knew it was going to be warm and even though our phones said it was 31 degrees, it felt a lot warmer than that by early afternoon. Apart from a couple of walkers around the back of the mountain, we had the whole area to ourselves. A nice little puzzle and another letterbox to use my stamp !! TFTC wozzle68
Out on a day trip from Melbourne and thought we would check out this Park. So glad we did. This is a beautiful area thanks for bringing us here. Not sure how many more we will do today as it's getting late and we need to feed the animals...I mean the kids. We will be back here again. A big fave from us five! Thanks wozzle68 from plowfive. 68 is a great year!
As we had met the conditions for the Scrabble Challenge, we had a visit to this area on our itinerary for today. We added some other caches to justify the length of the drive. This was one of them. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find of the cache container and the highlighted information in the cache description enabled us to get access to the logbook. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks wozzle68 for the cache and for bringing us to this area. Again, another favourite point from us.
After attending the dawn service this morning we decided to make our way out to Mt Beckworth and clean up the remaining caches we didn't get on our first visit. This was our first for the day and we soon had the log signed and the cache placed back in its hiding place. TFTC
Spent a morning out on the mountain bike chasing a few caches.
A fun cache that was easily found. Now, how to open?, a quick re-check of description and the log was soon signed.

Well this was going to be a big day for Suscoe.
Up early and off with long shadows stretching across the ground in the early morning.
A sunny day with the temperature around 30 degrees during the afternoon was going to be warm but thankfully a breeze sprung up during the morning and kept going all day and so it cooled Suscoe down at times when it was most needed.
This was the 2nd find of the day.
Boy it is dry here, another mob of wallabies headed of quickly.
Thankfully being an ex teacher the homework was done and all ready for correction.
We passed with full marks!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Wozzle68, so dry here, even the dirty doesn't stick..

Staying at the Creswick caravan park, to do some caching in the area.
Headed out to Mt Beckworth, for a lovely drive around the reserve.
It was a bit warm today, so we just picked up the caches along the main trail.
Didn't do our homework, but geo-hubby had the touch and we were soon signing the log.
What a great story, and what a lucky dog to be loved so much. A favourite point from us.
Many thanks for placing this cache, wozzle68, for us and others to find.

Spent the day out with Yogster, Jageredwings and families. Had 5 Retrivers with us and the all had a ball. Thanks for the hides Wozzle.
TFTC. Out for the day with the GeoFamily and half of Clan McStormy to conquer the Beckworth Beckons Series, cache number 6.
Had this one sussed before we arrived and while the GeoRetrievers were a little perplexed one how to open we were quickly into the logbook. The tin is big enough for the poor dog to have a sleep in if he wasn't stuck.

Out caching with geodaddy on beckworth beckon's series like where you hid the cache. thanks wozzle
This was the last cache in this area that we turned into a smilie during this visit. We stopped on our way out of the park and made a quick find here. What an interesting story of persistence this is!
Exchanged stamps and re-hid the container, and off we went.
We will be back for another experience of Mt Beckworth and try to find the remaining caches.
Thank you wozzle68 for the enjoyable variety of hides we have been able to find here!

We are on a road trip to attend "The Melbourne Event" Mega, taking our time to get there and on the return journey. Fortunately, there were lots of caches along the way to tempt us to stop for a while to smell the roses. This was one of those caches.
We had made our way to Ballarat to attend the GIFF Event and having been told about another event to be held at Mount Beckworth, we decided we would attend that one to and find the nearby caches. After spending time with everyone at the Mount Beckworth event, we headed off on our cache hunt, but we soon caught up with others along the way.
Thank you wozzle68 for having placed the cache for everyone to enjoy

Found by Mary & David at 1035. An amazing story. No problems at GZ as we'd done our homework last night. Our thanks to wozzle68.
One of two that I managed to grab on the way to the event today. Fortunately I had done my homework and all went well thanks. That is a pretty amazing story too.
