What a perfect day to search for a Geocache. The weather was spot on! No wind, no rain, temp was at a cool 19 degrees and I was visiting a place I had never been too before.I was lucky enough to be chauffeured by Mr Sims_Family who had his eyes on a couple of challenge caches that I'm WAY off from claiming. My GPS was playing up so this took way longer than it should have. Found the cache and clue SmileThanks for the hide

Donutholes and I planned the day at Mount Beckworth to grab everything we could around the back of the mountain. The weather for the day was magnificent and we had a ball enjoying the wonderful space. The Ginja Ninja made short work of all the trails getting us close with only short walk to most of the caches.Thank you wozzle68 for the series

Not quite in the GPS location but found it anyway. Very quiet in the park today. Thanks for the cache.

I found myself at a loose end this morning mooching around the house wondering which chores i would tackle today. Bored with the possibilities i decided to escape for a while with a spot of caching. That was the perfect idea and brightened my mood instantly. Now where to go? An area i havnt been to before, perhaps with some walking in nature and a good few caches to find. Mt Beckworth looks like an excellent target, lets go! The geopooch and i were quickly in the geomobile and away.

There are quite a few potential hidey holes here and I had a little scramble around before finding and signing the log. At some point during my search I discovered that a fox was living in one of the potential holes, unfortunately I managed to lean my hand in some of its poo than wiped it onto my jumper and pants. Thanks Mr Fox, I will smell like you for the rest of the trip!

our carefully plotted return to the carpark was completely miscalculated. so, my aunty, cousin and i stayed back and decided we might aswell walk back some of the way. i checked my phone and realised we'd walked past one so i headed back (skipped). and my cousin found it, not sure if the descriptions accurate

Looked in a few different spots but found it safe and sound.

On our walk today, we found this one as we were walking along some of the lower trails. We spent many kilometres on foot today and found quite a few of the hides, both high and low

Next stop on an early morning run out to Mt Beckworth and another quick find. Lots of flying insects around GZ but all was good and the log was soon signed.

Thanks for another wozzle68....

We enjoy finding caches and this was another we enjoyed finding

This weekend was mega weekend and we headed over with Freddo for a couple of days before caching up with some fellow Aussie counter parts

A great weekend away and a very well organised mega despite the horrible weather thrown at us we still managed to find quite a few caches

Thanks for the cache

17-Nov-22
Quick find here.

November 2022. Time for the second Victorian Mega of the year. This time in Whittlesea. What is it with W's? Time for another epic road trip. Who will join our merry crew? We traveled from South Australia and camped in the pig pen. It rained. It blew. It was sunny. It was not sunny. All four seasons. Beautiful location and some awesome caches.

Warning, this hobby can be addictive. It can lead to exercise, meeting new people and finding interesting places you might not have known existed otherwise. Beware: you may have fun.

Thanks for the cache. Merci la cache. Danke für den Cache. Gracias por el caché. Bedankt voor de cache. Kiitos kätköstä. Zikomo posungira. Terima kasih untuk cache. Hvala cache. Köszönöm a cache. Nga mihi mo te keteroki. Dankie vir die kas.

I spent the bulk of today wandering around Mt Beckworth, getting some exercise ahead of this weekend's Australasian Rogaine Champs near Avoca. Apart from being in cloud, there was very little rain, however it was very wet underfoot. Cache easily found. TFTC.

Beckworth Beckons, what an awesome series of caches. The variety of caches were exciting, and you were not sure what you would come across next. Some of the puzzles were testing, and it turned out we had to leave one behind as we could not solve it in time for our trip. All in all a superb set of caches wozzle68.

Found and signed with dalerious on a Mt Beckworth adventure. dalerious told me about the mount Beckworth challenges and series of caches not long after we met. We were looking forward to the day that would take us to this wonderful place, with it's varied assortment of cache types. It had so many positives. We had a full list, as usual, and I am so proud to say that we ticked off everything on it, and more!
We were staying in Clunes as our base for this long weekend and started our first night here with the Adlabs and their respective bonus caches Cool.
We ended up cleaning out Clunes, all but one trad which we are sure is missing.
Our time in this town, and on Mt Beckworth was memorable Big Grin. I was so excited searching for an archived cache in a secret cave. It never ceases to amaze me what you can achieve with a little pinch of determination and a whole lot of encouragement from dalerious Cool.
We thank all the CO's for providing and maintaining the caches undertaken here. So grateful to you all Big Grin.

23-Sep-22
Not sure if this one needs maintenance or not. Red Face
We found it easily enough and in good condition, but not sure of the "a bit of a difference" mentioned on the cache page.
Is this not the original container?

Anyway.....
After a huge day on Mt Beckworth, catnap777 and I had crawled back to our camp in Clunes, freshened up and hit the town for every cache we could get our greedy mits on. Twisted
Next morning we did it all over again on the northern half of Mt Beckworth with this one being the first log signed for the day.

Found day 3 of a somewhat impromptu solo caching and camping trip to Victoria from Adelaide.

I had planned to spend a week travelling, caching and camping along the Great Ocean Road, but my travelling companion had to postpone it due to other commitments. I was still keen to go away somewhere this week as well, so decided to head to the western part of the state on my own.

I created a bit of a 'menu' of specific caches of interest in the broad area that I might be in before I left home and just pottered along fairly casually, taking in the sights and grabbing what I could along the way.

I wasn't actually planning to visit this area, but I somehow managed to end up here and it was a good place to camp with what looked like some interesting walks and caches to find.

After walking up to the summit and back from Manna Gums this morning, I took a bit of a drive around the park.

Thanks wozzle68 for the cache.

On a caching and camping trip with day1976, he put together the list of caches, and I worked out we could camp near the Cork Oaks cache so we headed there. We got to camp with plenty of light to spare, so we set up the tents then drove off to start on the series.
This was a quick jump out of the car and jump back in. I spotted this as day1976 walked past it.

Ilukaperi and I did a flying visit to Mt Beckworth. One night of camping.

After setting up camp, we decided to nab some caches before dinner.

We have decided to head off for a couple of days, with no particular destination in mind. As we stopped for lunch in Clunes, we decided to check out Mt Beckworth as a possible spot to camp for a couple of nights. It certainly helped that there is plenty of caches on offer, and we have solved most of the puzzles. After choosing to walk cross country rather than along the road and discovering a very marshy area on the way we made our way up to GZ and made another quick find. Another cache in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache wozzle68

Find #4492
Traditional Find #2806**

I headed out with Steve on our first caching run since before the second lockdown. Ballarat, Mount Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick were our targets for today. It took a little while to find this one because we were looking for something a little larger than we found but we did find it and with this find, had the last clue for the final.

**Thank-you to wozzle68 for placing this geocache**

*Found on the 14 Nov 2020 @ 1:39 pm.*
*Cache find # 11082.*

This one took us a while to find as we were looking in all the wrong places which were closer to where the GPS was indicating we should be plus we were looking for something a bit bigger than what was found, eventually Mark come up with the goods and now I had the number I was missing for the previous cache find.

Finally we are able to get out and about so we headed for Mt.Beckworth, Clunes and Creswick.
I have been to Mount Beckworth a number of times now to try to find them all and after today it was nearly done but there are still 4 remaining, maybe one day.

**Thanks to wozzle68 for placing this cache.**

Day 7 St Arnaud Campground to Mount Beckworth Reserve - Cork Oaks Camp ground

Found after completing the chalenge trail. Just grabbing caches along the route to our camp site.
We left St Arnaud and heading in the general direction of Mount Beckworth Reserve to the puzzle trail. We stopped along the way to get multi's,puzzles and any local coucil areas. This was one of a small number of caches found on route to the reserve. We had to fix a staked tyre before we left, so it was a late start. quick find.
Came over to the 2019 mega in St Arnaud with Mogni. We where joined by jj52, Aussie M and M plus others at different times over the mega weekend. Many caches where found over the course of the 8 day trip. Targeting multi's on the way there and back plus the challenge trail in Mount Beckworth reserve. The creative trails around St Arnaud where the highlight of the trip.

We had arrived in this very beautiful area yesterday evening, and by the end of a thoroughly enjoyable late afternoon/early evening geocaching hike we had found 11 of the caches in the area. We then spent last night at Manna Gums campsite. This morning we set off on foot for what our GPS recorded as having been a 7 hour, 13 kilometre geocaching hike, with a total ascent of 585 meters and a total descent of 561 meters. After returning to our waiting hired cache-mobile we then drove on to find the rest of the caches in the area. We then spent a second night at Manna Gums campsite before leaving the Reserve, by which time the Mount Beckworth Scenic Reserve had become one of our all time favourite places we have visited in Australia - plus of course we left this geocaching playground with a full house of smilies! - not to mention the thrill of a gorgeous little Echidna who late in the day walked right up to me and then sat down between my feet - I felt so privileged! With our hike now complete we set off by cache-mobile to search for the last of the caches left for us to find in this lovely Scenic Reserve, this being the first of those to search for via this method. The cache was soon found once at Ground Zero. We signed the brand new log book and then replaced as found. Thanks so much for the cache and greetings from Zimbabwe

04-Feb-19
TFTC. We had visited this cache last year , only to discover that the original sign had been removed and replaced by a new style. This was the first opportunity we have had since then to revisit. We had a mission today we wanted to get as many of the caches on Mount Beckworth as possible today to get closer to meeting the 400 with a twist challenge. There are also two caches here that will fill in a number on the D/T grid and also a month on the Ausmer challenge.
We back tracked to the entrance and then along MannaGum track. This was a quick find and the last in the series so we could solve the puzzle.

A day of caching with pprass and Xambo4u. We had some 4wding fun earlier in the day up on top of the hill from the northern end and we were now making our way through some of the lower areas picking up caches as we went. A bit of confusion at first as to what to do with this one with the supplied instructions not having much relevance now. A shame the puzzle part wasn't in play. SLTNLN TFTC.

08-Dec-18
Found at 12:46 PM GAFF1 in the company of perpetuallylost and xambo4u.
We didn't understand what was going on here - lots of information under the lid, but nothing in the cache container to work on. Reading back into the logs it looks like GoodLook broke it last year in April when the CO was in attendance, but nothing has been done since to fix it. Our curiosity has risen now Smile
Thanks wozzle68.

08-Dec-18
Out and about with pprass (just like old times) perpetuallylost for the day while camping at Mt Beckworth.
Enjoying our bush/rock and hill ascending in the area with some challenging 4 x 4 driving. Aware of the dry hot weather we are very aware of the possibilities of snakes in the area but so far not a one. Nice easy find but instructions on the lid made us a little unsure for a moment. We soon moved on. First time in this area and really enjoying the space and views. Thanks for the cache wozzle68

A quick find and another clue collected.

05-Aug-18
Having just arrived home yesterday evening after an 8 day trip away[|)], today it was time to head to Ballarat as Cybergran V had wanted to a ride to attend wozzle68's 50th birthday celebration.
Harry managed to find a tree branch while reversing Surprised and gave himself an injurySad: the rear window on the canopy shattered [xx(] at the 2nd cache find for the weekend and yet by the time this was discovered at Castlemaine, many kilometres later, nothing had fallen out of the gaping hole! Whew!! [^]Cool
Cardboard and duct tape saved the day/weekend! Razz

After attending the birthday celebration tea leafotwind, Rex and I headed out doing some caches until late in the night then after a good rest thanks to an extra room at leafotwind's accommodation (which was hugely appreciated [:X]), the next day we attended the breakfast event and then (after Cybergran V rejoined us) we headed out to claim some challenge caches accompanied for a short time by both Mrs and Mr Riddell Big GrinCool

With the last cache of the 29 Smile cache finds found at 6pm on the 5th, it was time for the drive back to Shepparton, having attended 2 Cool events and only having 1 Sad DNF and 1 SurprisedRed Face Write note on a challenge cache that I do not yet meet. Red FaceSad

As I am about 8 months behind in logging, I'm resorting to template logs to catch up. Sad
My heartfelt thanks to the COs who have placed some tricky, funny, exercise required, scary, interesting and devious caches in some amazing spots! Cool[^]CoolSmile
Rex and I have had some amazing adventures and enjoyed some incredible moments thanks to this fantastic hobby SmileBig GrinCool

After having attended the second of the birthday events in Ballarat I had planned to tackle some Mt. Beckworth caches. I was joined by locus cache and CybergranV which proved fortuitous both from an energy/motivation standpoint after yesterday's 20km+ of walking as well as a couple of puzzle solves. A great day out. Thanks to either Wozzle68 or McLookers for putting out the caches and drawing me to the area.

Thanks for bringing us here to see the great view from this site, I didn’t realise how much we’d climbed till I looked down the hill from here. There are so many places you could hide a cache up here, and some beautiful old trees, both living and dead, that make great photography subjects.
leafotwind found this one for us to sign.
Pity the puzzle is no longer here, I would have liked the challenge. On the other hand it is getting late in the day and we want to find many more, so we’d best push on.
Thanks wozzle68 for the nice well stocked container

Thanks for the cache.

A nice quick find here. I'm guessing after reading the previous log that the 50/50 aspect is currently getting some TLC?
Our last for the day but we will be back!

Mt Beckworth has been the location of my closest un-found caches for quite some time now (minus the occasional newbie that pops up which is of course converted quick smart)...
I had found all of the caches along one road a couple of years ago in my super low XR6 and that was not ideal.
Last week my brother in law bought himself a 4WD but no-one was interested in going 4WD'ing with him. No-one except me anyway!
I promised to take him to a good location to test out his new rig if he promised not to whinge about stopping for some caches.
We set off after lunch with boo09 & neisha07 in tow and while they had a wonderful time, I discovered I may have a little bit of anxiety.
We made our way from Gnarly dude to up several hundred metres past Marbles before I chickened out and convinced brother in law it was best we turn back.
Hopefully his first adventure geocaching was not too horrible and we can convince him to take us out again to finish off some more.
I think we will access Hanging around from the opposite direction next time! Wink
Although I still have many more to go, it was great to knock off a chunk of the Beckworth caches. TFTC!

We arrived here today to have a look around, as it's been on our to do list for some time. The grass is still long and dry, but we would keep a keen eye out as we walk for wildlife (Snakes).
The Park is quiet, although we did see two Rangers checking out facilities at Cork Oak Campground and also noticed someone had signed the log earlier today. Our plan was to check out the park, then pick up any caches that we came across, so we started off at the n/w corner first.

We didn't get all the caches in here, but will be back to tackle the higher caches and those we missed at a later date. We found the caches we looked for and all were in good condition, thankfully there are lots of caches here to enjoy.

We found the cache quite easily, although two people were scratching their heads for a while. We were laughing as we opened the container here, well done to the CO for this, worthy of a favourite from us.

Thank you wozzle68 for this cache placement and the series here.

Joined up with Na'wal and DAB to spend the day caching around Ballarat and Mt Beckworth. I'm glad we stocked up with fluids as as the temperature soared. With the long dry grass we were weary of snakes. We made the many twists and turns to be able to grab the cache.

Today I was in the company of Ausfox; and Na'wal. There had been a bit of chatter about Mt.Beckworth recently, so we decide to give this series a crack. I had never been here before, so I was really looking forward to it. We knew it was going to be warm and even though our phones said it was 31 degrees, it felt a lot warmer than that by early afternoon. Apart from a couple of walkers around the back of the mountain, we had the whole area to ourselves. We all had a crack at this, eventually we had success. An unexpected surprise indeed. **Smile # *4502* / Traditional # *3402***

Today was planned with a cache trip to Ballarat and the Mt. Beckworth area for another geocaching adventure. DAB, Ausfox and myself met early, packed the geo vehicle with plenty of drinks as we knew today was going to be a hot day and we were on our way. We made it to our destination for the day and were greeted with a very hot Mt. Beckworth. Plenty of tall, dry grass which would have been a snakes paradise but thankfully none were seen. A quick find and thankfully DAB had the right puzzle power to solve this one. Stamped and replaced as found.

As we had met the conditions for the Scrabble Challenge, we had a visit to this area on our itinerary for today. We added some other caches to justify the length of the drive. Accurate coordinates and the hint led to a quick find of the cache container. Then the fun started as we spent many minutes trying to get to the logbook. As Murphy's Law dictated, we got access to the decoy cache container first. Finally we got the logbook and signed to indicate our achievement (or relief)!. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks wozzle68 for the cache and for bringing us to this area. This one earns a favourite from us.
