Cache is badly damaged. Zoo has run out of funding. Sorry that the zoo is now permanently closed ??
TFTC Na'wal and this series. So glad to be back out and about. Wonderful day today with little wind and some clouded sunshine. Looking forward to the physical challenge, as lack of exercise will surely play its part in determining how far we get in the Zoo.
A lovely Pastie from the Lara Bakery for lunch, needed wearing off as well.
All good at GZ TNLN

I am down in Lara for a few days, and this series looks like a bit of fun, so I thought I would make a start. Apologies for not taking a photo, but the mozzies were so thick I needed to swoop in and out as quickly as possible before they carried me away! Nice place for a walk, and I will look forward to following some of these tracks. Also appreciating the lack of undergrowth in these trees which meets any slidey creatures will be easily visible.
Tftc. Container lid is broken and I emptied the water out the container. Log is dry.
Love this collection of caches, no pen to write in log and Coronavirus got us spooked so mask pics today
Day 3 of a dedicated geo-weekend away with Kestal and Scratches...today we were headed from Geelong to Melbourne and other places in between. We headed to the You Yangs to collect some missing alphabet caches for a challenge but due to the heat today we only found the ones we needed. TFTC Na'wal.
With the temperature rising a significant amount in comparison to yesterday Eskies5, Scratches and I decided to only grab the ones that were need for challenge completion and hopefully be back for the rest on a day that is more walker friendly. This was the first one and were happy this walk was much flatter than the one we attempted on our first day in Victoria. After a short walk we were at GZ and Eskies5 spied the hide quickly, signed our names and all was returned before we headed back to the car. TFTC Na'wal
On a mission to collect some missing alphabet challenge letters we parked as close as we could and headed to GZ. It was a much more pleasant day than the day before to be doing this cache! Made it to GZ where Eskies5 quickly spied what we were looking for. Log was signed and we headed to the next one.

Silly. Stupid. Dumb.
On the way home from work in Geelong and making a usual diversion for some caches along the way.... Except that today it's 44 degrees. Even the wildlife was taking it easy. Spotted a koala moving to a shadier location as I approached gz. Startled a magpie snuggled in a little hollow at the base of a tree. No birdsong. No insect noise. Only the gentle breeze rustling the treetops. A light smoke from Sydney bushfires wafted through the area.
The cache was easy to find.
It was hot. My bottle of iced water wasn't cooling me down. After three caches I beat a retreat back to the car. More iced water and a long rest before I was good to go again.
That was a bit silly..

As we are back in the area for a little while, we decided to pick up some more of the Zoo series while out hunting with ilook4geo. This was an easy find and both names were placed on the log sheet. As the area is quite clear of vegetation in some parts, we could head across country in a fairly direct route between caches. There were no animals to be seen and not many birds either on this day of blustery and cold winds. After doing the duties to keep things in order we continued the hunt in this southern part of the zoo. Thanks. Na'wal for creating this series.
Just doing a few of the Zoo series today, with goingplaces2. The walking was easy going and we didn't stick to the tracks. Found each of the caches we were looking for, added our names to each log, then moved on. TFTC.
This was the lucky last while on today's bushwalking sojourn around the area. We spotted this from quite a distance despite the stick that was being used as camo. I must say that it was the second largest 'regular' cache I've ever seen.
With the log signed at 13:20, we replaced the camo and it was off towards the post-walk sausages.
TNLNSL, although strangely for such a large cache, our BYO pen geocoin had a visit to mark the occasion. Many thanks for all of these caches Na'wal.

Last one for today's bushwalk and the group's only just ahead of us now. Those sausages are calling so it's off to the post-walk BBQ. Will need another trip to complete the series.
thanks Na'wal

I headed to the You Yangs for a day of walking, mountain biking and caching. I decided it was time to visit the Na'wal Zoo in the afternoon and I had unrivalled access to the exhibits all on my own.
This was a fun cache, though I will admit to not taking any photos here. The animal in the exhibit is a bit camera shy at the best of times, so best no anger the beast! Great to see some larger caches to be found. TFTC

Out and about in the You Yangs today , we had intending doing the "Great Circuit Drive "series but the road was closed , so instead did the Puzzle Time and the Zoo series . Most were quick finds while others led us round in circles until finally found

A great series for the kids!
We are surprised how easy these funds are and without any need for camouflage.

Cache #2500. Found with teamashy. Doing the rest of the series we didnt have time last year. TFTC
First find in this series.think that’s the biggest cache I’ve found so far. Making a mission of finding all the caches in the you yangs now I’ve moved to the area. Thank you for this one!
The last time we were in the area was when we were Hunting For The Na'wal, a caching experience we really enjoyed. So when we saw the Zoo Series, they went onto our "to do"list very quickly. We went to the Zoo today, our second last day before returning home tomorrow night.
Accurate coordinates led to a quick find. When we saw the cache it was upside down and when we turned it over we understood why. The lid had been broken and a significant piece of plastic was missing. Despite the damaged container, the contents were dry and in good condition.
Thanks Na'wal for this cache and the series,

Out and about with Echidna44 and au.fait for the day. The weather was forecasted as doubtful but that was not going to stop us. As our progress the weather was favourable. Really enjoyed our nice easy walk through this new to us area. Lovely lot of bird noises here. Signed off and ready to move on. We are enjoying you all the work you have put into this series. Thanks for it all Na'wal and another great day out girls
Out with au.fait & xambo4u, we spent the day visiting the unusual animals in this open plan zoo. A great day had by all.
We enjoyed the variety of animals and caches, which had us searching among the trees in sunshine and rain. This was our first cache for the day and it started us off happily. Thanks Na’wal

A wonderful day out with the lovely echidna44 and xambo4u to visit this zoo We met up.early with blue skies and sunshine although this didn’t last all day as several showers dampened us but not our spirits as we wandered from one end of this imaginary zoo to the other. We began in this southern area and this was the first one we found. What fun TFTC Na’wal
I was a bit worried I might have to park the geodoggo and go in alone for this one but it wasn't as thick as expected.
Container's lid is pretty badly cracked up, replaced in inverted position to reduce water ingress.

Travelled from Bendigo today to hopefully complete the Zoo series. Nice winter day for family Sunday - Funday. What better way to spend a day out Geocaching. Haha! Kids had fun and a good laugh at this one!
Our last find of the day as it's fast approaching coffee o'clock. We forgot to bring the clues from our previous finds for the final so we'll have to come back another day for that one, plus Monkeys and Wanda to complete the full A-Zoo series.
We've really enjoyed this series and how easy it is to break it up into smaller chunks for those of us who can't manage the whole thing in one go for various reasons.
Thanks Na'wal for bringing us to this part of the park.

13:44, 31 march 2018, #567, Out with Ali and Riddleywalker doing the bottom half of these caches today. Well wasn't this a fun one... we just had to take a selfie.. TFTC.
I had wanted to tackle the Zoo series in this part of the You Yangs for a while primarily because I thought it would be a great excuse for a very long walk whilst trying for twenty five caches in a day. I knew there were a couple of tree climbs required and not being much of one for them I thought I'd add a couple of extra caches not in the series as backups. The fact that both those caches counted towards challenges I was working towards didn't hurt
All of the series bar two which required tree climbs and one furthest from the main set of caches were found. I really enjoyed the finding as I got the sense I was in the bush without the associated difficulties of finding bush-based caches in thick scrub and hilly terrain. Now don't get me wrong, there's a place for those types of caches but if you're aiming for twenty five finds in a day you're unlikely to achieve the goal with those types of cache.
Highlights of the day included: 14km walked, 10 months of unlove snaffled (don't ask me why the Nocturnal multi hadn't been found for so long) and a koala seen up close as I walked back to the car after a long afternoon of caching.
Thanks for the series, Na'wal. A great use of (what I think) are toys which have been outgrown by your kids. A favourite point for the series will be added to the final mystery and I'll try and post a photo of the koala on that page as well.

Out today to finish off the zoo, been too long awaiting a time to get there... the winds today were peaking at 109kpm, the trees were swaying and bending... with runners on it was off to gather the caches.
the old GPS had a lot of trouble with gz finding today kept jumping all over the place... had to resort to pick a point and circle around until caches were spotted.
thanks to Na'wal for this series

AutumnTree and I found most of this series during the Easter school holidays last year - so it was well past time to finish the series off! Gathered up the pleasant GeoKids and headed out through the fog around home to a beautiful sunny day here - perfect for wandering through this part of the You Yangs!
The cache here was located easily - more difficult was the GeoKids deciding who was going to be what animal.
Log signed, photo taken, and all replaced as found.

Out today with MaggieDot and 3 geokids today for some school holiday fun and to (finally) finish off this series. The day started off foggy over near our homes but here it was a clear sunny day, just right to wander through the You Yangs.
Thanks for this series Na’wal.
Thanks for this series Na’wal.
Found it nice and quick after a brief stroll up the track. Going for a ride on the mountain bike but had a few moments to kill while I waited for my mates to arrive. Will have to come back with the Geokids to add some photos. TFTC
Found on a day of walking, driving and caching around the western You Yangs and the Brisbane Ranges.
After taking park in the inaugural You Yangs parkrun this morning I was feeling quite energized and motivated by the stunning spring morning sunshine. So I made my way out to the western section and decided to walk/run to a couple of caches.
This was the first of the morning, and took quite a while for my GPSr to settle here before I unmasked the cache.
And today's find now has my P366 efforts finally counting down at single figures.
Thanks, Na'wal.

On my first day off of the week I have come to Lara to get as many caches as possible. This was the last cache I got today as I had to get back to Werribee to get the kids from school. I hope to be back soon to grab the rest of these caches soon. TFTC
Awesome cache size really enjoy finding the bigger ones. Picked up both trackables and will see them on the way. Will return and am looking forward to completing the series. Thanks.
happened to be in the you yangs for an event. decided to do some caches as well. unfortunately the Kami of our team was not with us
Back for our second day of the zoos series! The weather is looking a bit dodgy so we will see how we go. Out caching with our friend Phil today
Set out today to do the series and get a few extra caches under our belt.
Had to leave it at first attempt as there was a guy out there the cache doing Tai Chi. Bit random.
Come back and good find. Well done to Na'wal for a creative series. A lot of work has gone into it.

On a beautiful day Bogonghazy, the Geodogs and I planned lots of walking. So we went to the 'zoo' at the You Yangs and completed the series. Loved this series and the beautiful surroundings. Many thanks
Thanks for these, Na'wal! Our kids were mad keen about geocaching, 9 months ago. Much less so now Consequently, I'm keen to find caches that they might enjoy, and fire them up again. I snuck out and did this one and Turtle Tales to "suss them out" for geokid rejuvenation purposes, which is why only two are logged today. This one in particular may indeed stoke the imagination of geokid #2.
Headed out with Leetalicious and geodogs Tessie and Worf for a great Sunday's caching. Knowing from experience that Na'wal's caches are always good fun, we knew we were in for a good day, and so it proved. This was the first for us and the dogs were certainly excited to be out and about.
Thanks Na'wal.
Thanks Na'wal.
Found with new friends sophie1344 and georgiak21, Bessie and bella the viszla's have had an awesome day running through the bush! TFTC!
Found with Nicole_Louise on a caching outing with kids in tow. We parked the cars on the road nearby and enjoyed the cooler walk to the cache. The kids really enjoyed the masks! TFTC.
Mrsblackduck and I thought we'd take the geokids out for a trip to the You Yangs, so grabbed a few caches while we were there. I think this is my third visit to the zoo and won't be the last. Geokids loved this one, deciding how to pose and what other props including hats they'd use. Funny little models. Thanks for keeping them so entertained. TFTC TNLNSL returned as found
After grabbing a ftf acros the road and up a bit, I decided to knock a few more zoo caches off the list. After previously finding other ones mainly by sticking to the paths, I decided to strike out in confidence and just walk straight in the direction of the cache. It's working well so far. Tftc.

While travelling with Mutex I’ve found a lot of caches all over Australia. You know, I like the discovering, especially in nature, but am not that much intopcs and internet ..and logging. So we spend a whole day together to indicate all the caches we found together out of his list. Hope you don't mind the standard text aslazy me has to log quitea few now. HopefullyI'm gonnawork on that
Thanks!

While spending 16 months abroad, travelling through all states of Australia and also having a two months break in Thailand I did a lot of geocaching.
After many, many caches accompanied by the strong will not to write any standard logs, I ended up with more than 700 finds, all waiting for an official log. After intense considerations and carefully weighing my options, you now receive this special limited edition numbered log.

You Yangs National Park Cache #75/77
Being in Melbourne all the time gets a little boring after a while. So DieRooneys, Mutex, Pfote and I decided that we should leave Melbourne for the weekend. We had a look at the geocaching map and the You Yangs National Park seemed just perfect. Heaps of geocaches with good ratings, camping spot nearby and it wasn't too far away from Melbourne
We started on Saturday with the northern part of the zoo series and did roughly three quarters. We found all 19 caches we were looking for this day and they were amazing!
Really cute ones, cool ideas, everyone was different. I haven’t had so much fun geocaching in a very long time! Thanks Na’wal for your creative zoo caches!
And after having a good night’s rest in Little River we were fit for another day. We did the whole You Yangs Circle Drive today and found all of the caches. And there was even some time left for an earthcache and two traditionals afterwards which makes a total of 32 caches for me today (I already found YYCD #3 on another day). Thanks a lot ThePacman for crafting so many perfectly camouflaged caches!
We let the evening end with an awesome burger dinner buffet. Since it was already dark we were wearing head torches But I think that’s how it should be on a good camping trip
DieRooneys and Pfote went to bed earlier than Mutex and me. We decided that there was still some time for a little mystery solving battle. We were puzzling till 3 am and managed to solve seventeen of the ‘It’s puzzle time’ mysteries. Today, on Monday we did the outdoor finding part
Even though our last day was broiling hot (maybe the hottest day I experienced so far) we found all mysteries we solved the night before, the rest of the zoo series and two traditionals on the way, 26 caches in total.
Thanks TR! for so many different mysteries. We had a lot of fun solving them!
It was an incredible weekend thanks to all owners and my amazing companionship!
But the highlight was that we’ve seen a wild Koala relaxing in a tree after finding our last cache for the day

Thanks a lot for taking care of this cache, showing me this place and turning my travels into an adventure!
Greetings from Germany.
