Finally I’ve knocked this one off, it’s been on my to do list for way to long. I met up with Nette1234 and a couple of previous finders and had. Lovely wander around the park.

Setting out in the dark, real dark. Good stars!

Anyway, after finding the track, we followed it easily!

Found the final location, but where is the cache?

We reached out to the CO and he told us where to look, having placed a new one just a a week ago...

He gave us permission to log and said he will check.

Thanks for the fun night cache!

All ready to go for visit

Tree Cut down will fix Soon.

03-Jul-18
Cache in working condition and cache in place.

01-Jul-18
No luck here tonight, unable to find any fire tacks at all. It wasn't until we started that we realised how long ago it was last found. Potentially may need the CO to check it... or it could have been some terrible searching!

After completing Rebel98's Transporter 2 Night cache, he told me about Harvey the Critter so here I am walking thru Craigavon Park (followed by Rebel doing maintenance) on another excellent night adventure. It was much darker so the trail manifested itself easily and I was soon onto the final. Found Harvey, woke him up and he duly lit up (with excitement?). Thanks again for an excellent cache Rebel. Also gets an FP from me. And dropped a Geocoin.

In the local areas for Christmas with Gr33nslime and DangerSAM catching up with family and friends. Decided we'd give this one a go since it was in the back yard so to say. had to leave DangerSAM at home with Nanna as he'd already cached enough for the day and it was way past his bedtime to do this. Went down to the park about 9 PM and started at the beginning. Our torch wasn't the strongest but it did pick up the tacks none the less. The headlights from passing cars were actually the worst distraction. Very glad Gr33nslime came along as well as I could not see the final at all even when she guided us right to it. Cache was a decent size which is awesome to see, so many around here are not. Very glad to see Harvey in his stash. Really appreciate the cache it was a great adventure and gets a favorite for sure. I think Gr33nslime is keen to put one of these up around where we live in palmy now so guess we'll wait and see. TFTC.

#866 Up in Auckland for Xmas this year and JimmyNZ and I are on a mission to do more multis. We were staying just up the road from this park and surprisingly we hadn’t already cleaned it out of all the caches. Was very excited about this one, as it would be my first night cache. Armed with a powerful torch we set out on an over cast evening around 9 pm. Was surprised at how dim the reflected light was, but it was definitely enough to see if you look hard enough. Was expecting to be lead further through the park but it ended up being perfect. Harvey is still in the cache, and appreciated the fresh air. I covered the final cache with a bit of nearby cam as it was completely out in the open and im sure very visible during the day. Thanks Rebel98 for a very cool cache, i am inspired to make one of my own someday.

We had a go at a cache you need to do at night time a while back and it scared the dog and Mrs Tuolei, not sure who most, so I've put off cajoling them out again for a while. Saw this one was recently maintained and with a new swanky caching torch they were convinced since this is just a D1.5.

Sure enough we had the park to ourselves after the wet weather and we were able to follow the glow to the orange. Then a quick find. This is some pretty ritzy swag here, so made sure we dropped a couple of cars, signed the log and said hello to Harvey the Night Critter - he's a very handsome fellow.

Thanks for a nice introduction to night caching - TFTC, gets a fave point from me.

03-May-16
Checked on cache tonight all ready to go now, one of the fire tacks were missing.

01-May-16
Will be back - at night when there are fewer muggles!

I did all the legwork for this cache a night a few weeks ago but couldn't find the cache so I decided to stop by again in the daylight. Out with the kids today to visit the park and my daughter had no problems finding it as soon as we walked up to GZ. I definitely enjoyed the hunt at night and had no problems finding waypoints with my trusty 3D Maglite. TFTC!

#1611. We are staying nearby in Auckland and tonight was fine at last. So got my daughter to assist with this one. The park is one we know pretty well and have found all the caches in there previously. So off to WP1. Found the starting tree but took a while to spot the starting night tack. My torch just wasn't bright enough to see WP2 from there so we fanned out to all the nearby trees and eventually located it. The next one also proved to be a bit tricky. But after that we could see a few more and so headed in a direction I was not expecting to go. The final two oranges proved to be very hard to spot so just walked around until we eventually chanced upon them. The cache was quickly found after that and signed. All good. Bit surprised by the final placement due to its proximity to at least two other caches. Obviously Auckland reviewers are more lenient than the Wellington ones about the cache density rules. All good fun however. Most enjoyable evening entertainment. Thanks for setting it up.

At last we managed to find it... the journey was pretty smooth in the beginning, but got slightly confused with some tacs.. Then finally found the two oranges. Then guess what?? The cache is missing!. Then, after couple of days we got confirmation from CO that cache is replaced. So headed straight to the final. And then it was an easy find. Signed the blank new log.
this is Sakti's favorite park, and she enjoyed it thoroughly. (Thanx for the Toy Rex - Sakti)

Harvey the Hippo has been taken by Muggles, so now his cousin has moved into his home and looks forward to visitors.

#180 The second last night before daylight savings kicks in. The perfect night to take Geofamily out on Harvey hippo cache. Everyone in attendance for this one as this is Geodogs favourite park to have a run in because it is almost completely off leash. Tonight was the first time we went at night though.
Rolled into carpark just past 7:30 on an early spring night. Ground was still muddy but we came well prepared with our gumboots and torches. Zoomed through the fire tacks. A little trouble finding the 5th one, but eventually found it. Geogirl found the cache and we sang twinkle twinkle little star to Harvey. Another great night time cache.

Out and about for a spot of caching after performing maintenance on a couple of my caches. Well, I didn't have a torch on me and it was daylight, if raining, but I thought I would have a go at this night cache anyway. Through the application of a little logic and a lot of trial and error I was able to track down all the reflectors. I am not going to pretend it was easy as it would have been much easier at night with a torch. However, my iterative process did get there in the end, just very slowly. The ground underfoot today was very wet and muddy. Cache is good condition. Cheers for the cache placement!

As I am working my way through the requirements for the DGSc Challenge the need to hit specific mission targets continues and tonight's little challenge it to gather a few more night caches to get me closer to finishing that particular elective.
Tonight I was in the company of iammrwalker, we drove up following work for a bit of fun, although did not know quite how much fun it would be after the recent weather. We were fortunate that the heavy rain held off and while there was the occasional shower passed by we stayed warmer and dryer than expected.

This was our first night cache of the evening and as such were a little unsure how we would progress in the rain. The ground was waterlogged underfoot, but the "stars" were bright and follwed directly to our destination. Thanks for asssiting me in completing one of the endorsements for the above challenge. This was the twenty first of 25 caches located successfully tonight without a single DNF. The twenty first cache of the evening and a nice simple find.

Geo senses took over here and the cache was quickly in hand

So again thank you for the FUN of the hunt

Sorry for the late logging... thought I had already logged this.

Out night caching (This was my first night cache - very cool idea) in a group as there are no night caches where I live, having a cool time.

Loved caching at night time.

A plan was agreed that as the shortest day had just past, why not do some night caches with the kids...A quick search, and 3 children friendly caches were tagged, this being first on the list.
A group of around 12 descended on the reappointed car park and headed for GZ... explained to the kids what to look for and they were off...within seconds the first glint was located, then the second, three third... Then the final orange glints...what do we find...come have a look, and bring the kids, do as a group/team, you'll have fun...even the big kids...

Signed as ' panda' to save log book space.

Tonight a group of southern and eastern cachers decided to form as Panda Group and tackle some night caches out west. The kids were excited and everyone was issued with various torches and headlights, rugged up warm and then we set off for the first WP. Torches shining here and there, up down, in peoples faces.. and we finally spied the first marker and set off across the muddy grass. After more markers and more excitement, we finally found the orange markers signalling the end of the trail - Harvey was home so grabbed him from his bed and had a merry dance before signing the log as the Panda Group and tucking him back up to continue his slumber!

Not sure we found all the markers, but was a lot of fun with the group, thanks for setting this night cache up Rebel98 Smile

Well this was a lot of fun. A group of us had decided to head out here specifically for these night caches as we thought it would be easier in winter when its darker earlier. Parked up on the street and arrived at GZ. MrsNZTravellers torch soon proved to be the best out of all of them and picked up the reflectors and then we were off.

We followed them around before spotting the different ones that signalled the final. The kids in the group were off in a flash for a quick find. Harvey was nice and dry in his little home and had some cuddles before being returned.

Thanks for our first night cache we had heaps of fun - a favourite point.

Found the other morning in the dark and wet, but just had to do it seeing as #1 Grandson has been named Harvey. Apparently I missed the starting point and jumped right up to number 2. An interesting little quest thankyou...
cheers V.

We came out tonight to find Harvey and sing him a lullabuy. Had no difficulty following his starry trail until we came to trying to find Harvey himself. Had to walk a little way from the last star before we spotted Harvey's two eyes shining back at us. Once we had Harvey in hand we sang him a little song and put him to bed. Thanks.

Loving these caches. A great way to spend time when you can't get a baby sitter. B-)

The plan tonight was to get some night caches, and a few Whereigo's to finish off a Licence stage. Contacted IamMrWalker to see if he was also keen for a night mission around Auckland tonight, and with his leave pass quickly sorted it was all on.

Left Hamilton about 6.30pm to get to the first GZ just on dark. An awesome night adventure and I was glad for the company, some places at 2 in the morning are a little scary!! All up a reasonably successful mission with 4 night, and 4 Whereigo's completed, with a couple of DNF's as well. Small numbers, but quality caches!! Ended up getting back to Hamilton about 4am. Thanks to everyone for all the effort you've put in to set up these caches!

Thought about parking in the car park near GZ, but with a gate that could go across the entrance we thought we'd better not risk it and decided parking on the road would be a better option. Having a high powered torch certainly helped and made finding the tacks nice and easy. A quick find once at GZ.

HKCB kindly invited me on a night mission to Auckland with him to tick off some night caches and some Whereigo's to complete his current GEO license challenge. We left Hamilton about 6:30pm and didn't get home until 4am the next morning. It was a long fun night full of great caches.

We made pretty short work of this one, HKCB had an awesome torch that made my little head lamp feel a little unnecessary. These types of Geocaches are great fun. We had problems locating this good sized cache. We tried to take a short cut back to the car that took about twice as long as returning the way we came but that's part of the fun of night caching.

Too funny finding this one, bumped into some other caches but we were going in the wrong direction as we had difficulty at WP1. We managed to find another cache while looking for Harvey. Sang him a song and let him rest under the stars.

27-Dec-14
Such a good cache real adventurous

26-Dec-14
Found it tonight. Went all over the park until we found our first fire tack. We were beaten to the finish line we decided since we had company under the darkness of night we would find another cache in the dark lol then got back on track. We found Harvey and recorded us singing twinkle twinkle little star before returning Harvey. My daughter dropped an awesome geocoin for the next lucky finders hopefully its a youngin who sings to Harvey. Ps: lots of dog poop.

Yaaaaay we found him such a cool night cache Smile sang him to sleep and gave him a little chameleon geocoin friend for the night Smile

24-Dec-14
I confess that I scoped out this lovely spot this afternoon in the vague hope that I'd've able to spot the fire tacks in the daylight. No such luck. In fact I got muggled by some dog walkers wondering what I was doing staring so intently at the trees.

Returned tonight and almost gave up hope after having found nothing reflective after 10 minutes' search. Not being willing to stump up for a zillion-lumens torch I have been making to with my modest average one. It does mean a lot of reconnaissance in between spotting tacks, however. I finally found the first tack in completely the opposite direction I was expecting, and luckily the rest of the tacks soon revealed themselves. Turns out I had previously examined one of the trees with a tack, but hasn't seen it in the daylight...

Number 9 of 10 night caches I need for a challenge near my home in Wellington! TFTC

I had done some night caching with the C.O and his wife rustynz and urbangypsynz on one of the CSI caches but had a DNF on that, so since I had been keen to do this cache when it came out but had GPS issues at the time, Rebel98 suggested he come along with me and watch me doing this cache (very nice of him), without help from him (well, maybe the odd little poke in the ribs here and there) but I got there. The fire tacks have been excellently placed I have to say, no issues navigating myself around the park. When you spot the orange you know that's where the cache is! Opened up the container, said goodnight to Harvey and we walked back to our cars. Keep up with the night caches Rebel98, it's a lot of fun!! Cool

WOW!!!!!! This was easy,i never expected this night cache to be so quick, because the night cache in the graves was so long.Everything in good condition.

A nice quick night cache without tripping over too many obstacles. Great park. Enjoyed this one along with Kw12. Tftc

15-Nov-14
Out with urbangypsynz and CO. Thankfully the heavy wind and rain had calmed, and all we had to worry about was the soft ground underfoot and looking for markers. When we got to the final a celebratory song was sung to Harvey. Thanks for the cache and the adventure.

15-Nov-14
Well set out clear markers. Very muddy under foot, not sure whether Harvey was happy about been dragged out of bed in the rain, but was very happy to jump back in the cache when we started singing to him. Found with Rustynz with CO following us around chuckling under his umbrella. Tftc

14-Nov-14
Cool caching. Got home tonight and decided to go check this one out after dinner. After spending a lot of time inspecting the start point decided to reread all of the cache literature. Finally understood what we were doing. A more powerful torch and a brim on my head like a cap would have helped a)keep the light out of my eyes and b) better reflect the marker. From our first discovery we whistled around the course until we had to locate our final mark. Again low light and age related low night vision meant we were struggling to spot the last markers. So we went on a hunt. Spotted them, some metres into the bush, two horizontal markers but not fire orange. Then they disapperaed. Either a cat or some other animal with very close set eyes. Finally found it. As we got back to our car two full carloads of the boys in blue turned up for a reconnoiter. Looks like we got reported for suspicious activity.

08-Nov-14
Perfect night for this. A bit of trouble at one WP as I had decided which way
to go, bit was totally wrong !!!!!!. Soon back on track.
A very good night cache for all. TFTC.

Ric and I had great fun hunting for the elusive Hippo !!!
Great place for it ! Wasn't in the dodgy part of park ...
Thanks Rebel . A cool one to take kids to .

07-Nov-14
First night cache (and only second ever multi). Great to have one the kids could do. A bit muddy underfoot as you are trekking through the dark in the park. Made sure the kids sang all the way back to the car

05-Nov-14
Well that was jolly good fun... out and about with Trudie of KiwiFruitsNZ and we trotted around in the smokey haze of Guy Fawkes Night looking for sparkles... final only had 2 orange tacks and the cache seemed as if it has been tossed aside, replaced it where seemed best and covered well. A favourite point from me for a well planned nighting adventure.

05-Nov-14
It was indeed a starry night with fireworks going off all around, certainly made for atmospheric night caching. This is a great "learner" night cache as every tack was nice and visible and the terrain was easy to traverse in the dark. If only all night caches could be as straight forward ... fav point awarded.

Saw this get published and unsurprisingly got a call from funkymunkyzone; I said I had already grabbed my gear and was on my way! Very Happy

We quickly made our way around the trail managing to avoid the muddy ground but then got to GZ and failed to spot the obvious. Eventually we managed to spot the hide and were rewarded with a nice blank log! (FTF)

Thanks! Smile

A new cache and close enough to home to not ignore. Called slieschke and found out that great minds think alike and he was already on his way. Arrived near the start and no other cars around - looks promising. Started out on the trail, which was nice and easy to follow and soon found us at the final spot. We started to search for the cache, but we had narrowed our vision a bit too much and then widened our search in completely the wrong direction - finally I looked at it and said "it's not that thing right there is it?" thinking that that was something slieschke had earlier said wasn't it, and it was, staring us in the face the whole time. Cache blindness. Anyway, opened it up and as expected, a blank logbook for a joint FTF. {FTF} #1687 Big Grin TFTC!!! Big Grin
