It's time to say farewell to this year's Christmas Event. Thanks to all who came along. It was great fun. There's one last trackable still listed in the event inventory, so hopefully it will soon be retrieved by whoever grabbed it.
Have a Merry Christmas everyone and we look forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
Cheers,
GeocachingNSW Committee

A small but enthusiastic group of geocachers enjoyed coming together down at Putney for the annual Geocaching NSW Christmas Party. As usual, there was lots of great chat about many aspects of the game we all really enjoy playing. We welcomed familiar faces and it was fabulous to see some new players joining us for their first geocaching event.
The first game of the day was a “nearest to the ammo can” mint tin throw. Each player had three goes to try to be the closest. Competition was fierce with Kid Ron Satan taking out this year’s title. For his efforts he received a 50 cal. ammo can. Hopefully, there’s a new cache coming out soon. Congratulations KRS.
The second competition was to see how tall mint tins could be stacked in 30 seconds. Again, this was highly competitive with junior Team MavEtJu coming up the winner. Well done!
The Geocache of the Year was announce by President Zalgariath. The voting was very close with “GCHFT2 Earthcache 1 – A simple Geology Tour of Wasp Head” being crowned this year’s winner. This is very fitting as this earthcache was the first one published anywhere in the world and celebrated 10 years of finds back in January this year. Congratulations to the cache owner, Geoaware.
The final presentation was to award the official FTF for the event. Congratulation to Mr Roo who travelled to the event by train from the Central Coast. He took home a 30 cal. Ammo can as his prize.
Added are some photos of the day for you to enjoy.
Thanks to all geocachers who attended and made the event another successful one for the Association.
A Merry Geocaching Christmas to all and we look forward to more fantastic events in 2015.

A special thank you to Skyebomonkeytown for getting up very early and grabbing the picnic shelter for us, and to Digby23 for again, bringing along his fantastic croquet set and for the great lessons on how to play. We really appreciate all your assistance!
Attended this great event, nice to catch up with friends and met new cachers. Thanks for organising the event. Merry Christmas to all members. TFTE
Took some trackables to move around.

Dropped in for a quick visit and nice to chat with some old friends. Lovely spot by the water. Merry Christmas everyone.
TFTC,
Again to all the NSW Committee who have planned and provided everything that was required to make this another great day, THANK YOU.
It is always great to have the chance to chat to others, listen in on some of the conversations and pick up some hints that can help in solving many of the caches that are on hold because I dont understand what I am to do.
Took the chance to visit some trackables and pick a few up to be moved on.

Had a great time - even though I was only able to drop in for a short visit! Took part in the annual mint-tin-toss (which I was total rubbish at lol), and managed to jump into the group photo as well Dropped off some trackables and picked up this years GCNSW geocoin and 2 of the camo-sprayed ammo cans (coming soon to some bushland near you!) before heading home. Looking forward to catching up at the next event ...hopefully with a bit more time to spare. TFTEC ^_^
As I deal with depression, I find it very hard to move anywhere, when I am inside (great outside), so I have developed a reputation for being late. This time it was planned late. I went to a concert at Jenolan caves last night and weren't going to travel that far without bush walks and geocaches. Set myself a limit of cacheing until midday. I got to Mt York just after 12 and couldn't resist doing another 2 caches. Made good time in the drive back to Sydney and got the event right on tooth hurty, just as they where packing up. Gave my first christmas wishes, which made me feel very dirty for it is November. Signed the log, claimed the smiley and one day, I am going to form the welcoming party at an event. Didn't even get the ftf this time.
Thanks

Another very enjoyable event run by GCNSW. The weather gods smiled on us and it was a lovely location by the water. I just love the way this game we play has introduced me to so many people I now call friends. Today, I added to that list with the meeting of some new friends. Merry Christmas everyone and I look forward to the next event to be run by the Association.

30/11/14. 11:15 AM. Cache #2040. Streak day #161. Another great event put on by Geocaching NSW and always good to catch up with familiar faces as well as some new faces. Luckily I brought along my throwing arm! }:)
we got to the event 15 minutes or so after the event started we talked for a bit then sat down to eat our yummy sandwiches then the games begun (good job dad on winning that ammo) we finished our sandwiches then I competed in the mint tin stacking challenge but didn't win (oh well) it was really fun . I thought it was a great event.
Attended with morry9 and the geo-pup Squizzy, arrived around 12:30pm and stayed until the end. It was a beautiful sunny and warm day for an event, perfect weather for this time of year and to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season. When we arrived the mint tin toss challenge was in full swing and I did not have to wait too long until I was called up to test my throwing arm and shoulder. Unfortunately my aim was not good enough on the day and I am not sure if I am convinced by skyebomonkeytown's theory that the smaller mint tins are better to throw than the larger ones. Squizzy was getting a little agitated so I took him for a short walk up and down the Parramatta River waterfront so he could burn off some excess energy. When we returned Digby23's game of croquet was about to begin and I was really impressed by his extensive knowledge of the rules and playing strategy. I watched on and called out some encouragement from the sidelines (friendly sledging) before taking over from Calypso62 who needed to attend to his duties. It was surprisingly fun! Morry9 and I hung back with a few others to help the crew pack up the marquee and display as there was concern around the threat of a thunderstorm approaching the Sydney Metropolitan area (although it did not eventuate until much later that afternoon). We said our goodbyes and I headed back home to drop Squizzy off before going out again towards Sydney Olympic Park for archery in the afternoon. Thanks For The Event Cache Geocaching NSW and thank you for all of your hard work this year!
Well hats off to another great event. Big thanks to Skye for coming in early... and providing the entertainment by chasing down the Mr Whippy van in such a gleeful manner. The sun shined and the ammo cans were plentiful and the company new and old from far and wide. Thanks for another great year from the committee and members, we just beat the storm getting out of there I think. Looking forward to 2015 and a whole bunch more fun.
Rated: for Overall Experience
Caught the train from the Central Coast specially for this event. Had a great time meeting all the new faces. Thanks for running it and even managed to walk away with the *FTF* prize. Merry Christmas to all from mr_roo
What a great afternoon we had. Traveled to Sydney with Djant for a boys wife and child free day. Glad to see some familiar faces and even better to meet some new. Had lots of fun playing the games. Now it's off to find a few caches before heading back home. Thanks for putting on a great event NSW Geocaching. All your hard work is appreciated.
After a nice drive down the coast from Newcastle with team-tonka it was nice to meet new cachers and to attend another event had fun with the game almost won it thanks for holding the event. Hope to see you at our next event in Newcastle
Another gorgeous day in Sydney town. We are looking forward to seeing you all today. We are hoping to nab one of the picnic shelters however, don't forget to bring your chairs and picnic rugs, just in case.
Travel safely everyone.

Great to meet people and start putting faces to the logs I'm reading.

Sorry I couldn't RSVP - it was a bit touch and go whether we could make it. But glad I made the effort, which made it possible to catch up with quite a few and meet some new people including Frogstarius. Good to hear that the president's interview went well on 702 yesterday.
I took a couple of TB's as I don't have any on me at the moment.
Merry Christmas and hopefully see you out on the trails soon!

Another awesome day, thank you Geocaching NSW and all who attended. May you all have a Merry Christmas and a very happy 2015. Cheers! PS Thanks Digby23 for the croquet lesson, I'm sorry we had to cut the game short. Next event I promise to give it a 'red hot go'. PPS Thanks Calypso62 for lunch!

Another enjoyable Geocaching NSW event.
Plenty of good company and discussion and a game or two...
I reckon Kid Ron Satan used magnets to win the Mint Tin Toss!
Main topic for discussion - "When is Bushes and Fields - Airey Park going be found?"
So after the event I wandered down there...

Another fun event even if numbers were down a little this year. As always good to catch up with friends and make some new ones. Hope to see some of you out in the wild in coming months.
Have fun everyone!
I will be busy walking from Bundeena to Otford this weekend.
Merry Christmas to all!

TB/GC drop.
Also: as Yelyac has a catch-up with friends in the afternoon, we can only make the first half.
And: my vote's in!
