A frustrating search but no luck finding it (and I did actually go to the island). It seems some recent landscaping work has been done to cut back and remove some of the trees. Photos in old logs dont seem to match up anymore. Perhaps something has happened to it as a result of this work?

Pretty sure you have to go through the river

We looked for a good 30 or so minutes and couldn't find it. After reading the other logs to find out that we had to go in the river, we decided that would be a pass

8.1 World travelers adventure log.Out and about exploring the world with Nildran on this epic adventure! Thanks for adding to our memories and letting us explore your favorite spots all over the world! It continues to be a wild ride!TFTC SL If you find yourself at a local pub during trivia night, and the category is:'States shaped like a Mitten'here is some information that may help you win that round:Michigan trivia 8.19. Your Hand's Practically A Map Of Your New Home StateIts pretty easy to travel around Michigan when you think about it. The "thumb" is the east side, Detroit sits south, and the fingers up top are where Traverse City and Mackinac Island point UP. Makes sense, right? (The UP sort of looks like a bird trying to fly away).10. Rainfall Smells Like Rotten BeerSeriously, thats what itll remind you of. Some say it's the sign of one of Michigan's freakish thunderstorms. Others think it just smells. When the rain falls and the clouds get a little thicker, you'll smell it, too.11. How to Spot Your Car Under Eight Feet of SnowYou will develop your own internal radar for your car, guaranteed. When that lake effect snow piles on youll come to know which hill is actually your vehicle. It's kind of like Michigan magic.12. Venison Is the Best Meat You'll Ever TasteDeer season is big in Michigan, so don't be surprised if you start getting a hankering for good ol' fashioned venison. If youve never had it, youll get hooked fast.13. "Mackinac" and "Mackinaw Actually Sound the SameSome say "Mack-in-ack," and others say "Mack-in-awe." In reality the only "Mackinac" is the Mackinac Bridge, which many call the "Big Mac. Mackinac Island, Fort Mackinac, Mackinac Straits, and Mackinaw City, however, are all pronounced with an "awe" at the end. Arent you glad I told you?14. It'll Take Several Years To Learn To Play EuchreThis game might just be better than poker. At first you'll think you're on a different planet as you sit with Michiganders for a friendly game of Euchre, but give yourself a few years and you just might get the gist of at least a bit of this game.15. The S.S. Badger Isn't Just a Transport Across Lake MichiganIf you just want a quick ride across the lake, take Muskegon's Lake Express. If you want an adventure, that's what Ludington's S.S. Badger is for. There's a movie theater, a small casino, a bar, and satellite television.

Day #2 Christchurch - The Mega New Zealand ExperienceA chance for an overseas Mega was too good to pass up. Especially with half the state seeming to be attending also. I set about some last minute planning. Flights still available Accommodation found Mode of transport securedLooks like its time to cross the ditch. Ive never visited the South Island before so it is bound to be a fun filled trip.I arrived after dark last night so today is my first chance to see the sights.I enjoyed the punt ride and had some time on my parking up my sleeve so was able to grab some targeted caches.I hadnt brought appropriate footwear with me, so barefoot it was. I left my shoes by the bank and crossed the water over to the island and soon enough the cache was in hand. I carefully crossed back, almost slipping on the muddy bank, but managed to keep my clothes dry.A big thanks goes to La Vista for taking the time to add View of St Michael & All Angels (Canterbury) to the geocaching map for us all to find and enjoy.----------------------------------------------------------Wow! The fun just never stops.Have you logged your will attend for Victoria's first ever Block Party? (Think Mega but even more special!)Join us on 22-23 March 2025 in Sunbury to celebrate 25 years of geocaching by logging your will attend at [**GCAP417**](https://coord.info/GCAP417).

Together with 36 other geocachers, the KiSt team undertook a very long trip to Australia and New Zealand for three weeks. On both the outward and return journeys, there was a stopover in Doha, the capital of Qatar .We experienced a great deal on this trip and gained many very different impressions of the two countries, their nature and their culture. Of course, the main focus was on visiting as many caches of as many different types as possible and also all accessible old cans. However, we also made sure to visit many special places of interest and to gain as comprehensive an impression as possible of nature and its flora and fauna. To save the logbooks, we usually signed in with our team name **Downunder24**. For "special" cans, however, we have not missed the opportunity to leave our nickname as well. This beautiful cache is now also one of our finds.Due to the large number of caches visited, it is unfortunately not possible for us to write an individual log for each can, which is why we would like to apologize to the owners for this collective log.We also met other cachers at some of the events and were able to share our experiences. Many thanks to the event owners!Of course we would like to thank all the owners for showing us the great locations, the sometimes tricky puzzles, exciting multis and wherigos, as well as the interesting virtuals and earth caches - TFTC!!!---In der Besetzung KiSt unternahmen wir zusammen mit 36 weiteren Geocachern fr drei Wochen eine sehr weite Reise nach Australien und Neuseeland .

Danke fr diesen Geocache. Danke fr die Ausarbeitung. Danke frs Zeigen.Lieber Gru aus Duisburg / DeutschlandAndyDieser Logeintrag wird mit Hilfe von Google bersetzt.__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________We set off on a long journey with 37 geocachers from Germany, Denmark, Luxembourg and Switzerland. Three weeks to Australia and New Zealand, starting with a stopover in Doha, Qatar. I have never been so long and so far away from home. An exciting time. When geocaching, the focus was on many different cache types, but also special ratings, challenges and especially a few very old caches from the years 2000 and 2001. But also, of course, especially the geocaches that were easily accessible on foot from the hotel.Of course, the focus wasn't just on geocaching; the sights of the individual stations we visited also deserved attention. We entered our team name Downunder 2024 in the logbooks, saving logbook space and efficiently. It was a very special trip in a large team, which was also a lot of fun.Today we took the bus from Blenheim to Christchurch. Thanks for this geocache. Tonight we visited an escape room to celebrate a 70th birthday followed by dinner at Riverside. After a lovely dinner, we realised we were close to this cache which we had put off until summer and tonight was the perfect evening to have a go. Mr 70 was encouraged to take his shoes off and wade across in the shallowest part of the stream while Beeba and Mrs 1066 directed proceedings from the shore, with dry feet. He looked for ages then son muggle went to help. Later two other muggles/ex-geocachers also went to help but after an hour of looking, we had to accept defeat. Maybe another time we will have more luck. It was a great adventure anyway.

I had so much fun searching for this cache! Eventhough it was all over within five minutes after removing my shoes. The coords are precise and so is the clue. I give it a FP.

07-Dec-23
Well it took me a while, but I found it! Found a pretty good place to cross, not too deep and easy enough to get in and out but there was a bit of mud which I sank in a little. Wasn't too happy about the mud but I needed to find a wading cache on a Thursday for a challenge so it had to be done! Once on the island I searched and searched but I was mainly focussed on forks in tree trunks and similar places so wasn't finding it. Had a look through the photos on people's logs, while mumandme contacted a friend who had found it previously. With the information gained from those sources I compared photos to what I could see and had another search. Soon I thought I could see something through the leaves, went around to look closer and yes! Success! So happy to find it! Took nearly an hour but it was worth it. Challenge complete Smile Thanks for the fun cache!

Well that took a long time. Finally with the help of angelic_kiwi and phone a friend we made it.

We were staying in Christchurch overnight and decided to pick this one up before travelling further south. We did a wrecky the night before to see what was needed. I decided to cross the stream at the narrowest part and chose to wear flip flops on my feet. It started well until I was nearing the far bank and put my feet down on the silt and sunk further down losing both my flip flops. Not something I was expecting as I wanted something on my feet whilst searching for the container. Up the bank I went and started the search. Container was located after about 10 minutes of searching. Thanks for the experience, shame I lost my footwear.

Arrrgghh, I really wanted to find this one and once I got wet to cross, I was determined not to give up. I searched head high and higher and also lower in case it fell down, every possible hiding place - and there are quite a lot and at this time of the year very overgrown. Still I couldn't find it. Around the trees mentioned in the hint and others, for over 30min, eventually gave up.

I have great joy in marking this find.Kimmy+co had already climbers a tree in the pursuit of a cache so it was my turn, thankfully I came somewhat prepared with shorts but I did still have to walk the block to our hotel wet having misjudged both the sediment squelch and my footing.Water was surprisingly pleasant in temperature so I wasnt too worried, my ability to tell camelia from other trees was somewhat of a hindering, thankfully hayzz was able to guide from the bank til we had success

16-Sep-23

Just a quick trip to the islands with kozjah. I went straight for wading. Kozjah squared up for a leap but quickly slowed down and went for a wade as well. A little bit of a search but he won the day.

Well off the shoes and socks went and into the foray we went. With ducks judging my lack of balance and near plunge the cache was found and logged.

Into the city early on a questionable weather day to get some in and beat the crowds.

I see the problem inherent in the solution.... So I'll put a bluey on this one, so that one day I'll get sick of it and come back more prepared....

Cheers

As we had parked alomist on top of this cahce it was tempting but too busy. When we got back to the car the southly wind ment the area was deserted, and I was wearing sports sandles, and shorts. So it only seemed right.

Years ago I did another cache and broke by foot trying to jump across. I broke several small bones where the toes meet the foot.

27 January 2021 13:28. Number 9175. Well you see it went like this....

We met up with another cacher for lunch who suggested this would be a good one to attempt on a stinking hot day like today. So back to the car, to change clothes.

Leaving Ethness in charge of my clothing with instructions to call search and rescue & / or the coastgaurd should I not return promptly or be in regular communication, there was nothing for it but to wade into the raging torrent, keeping a careful lookout for sharks, icebergs and other hazards such as discarded Lime scooters. Eventually I made it over there and scaled the cliffs to lie, panting on the island's shore. Then I had to use my teeth to hack my way through to the first of the examples of the hint species, keeping a watch for alligators, snakes and rabid ducks!

The first location searched turned up nothing, as did the second, so there was nothing for it but to totally abandon any attempt at stealth and swing from tree to tree across the island, startling the monkeys, and checking out the branches as I went past. Finally as I was despairing of ever finding the fabled prize, I spotted it and let out a shout of triumph!

Somehow I had managed to retain my pen, so did not need to grab a quill from one of the nearby waterfowl. The scroll of honour was signed and returned to its hiding place in the undergrowth, then I abseiled down the cliffs and swam the channel, fighting off the pirates and eventually ending back on Terra Firma.

Tftc.

Highly envious of Infoferret who was wearing sandals and decided to wade across to the island to retrieve the cache. One of the things I heard her say was her feet felt lovely in the water -lucky her. Favourite given for being such a different cache. Having a short trip from Invercargill to Christchurch with Infoferret finding lots of caches, in particular the TMGT caches for me.
The cache may be signed with our individual names or ‘IE’.
Many TFTC.

With the evening being so hot, I decided we could try this one. After a picnic nearby, we went for this one, changed side of the river to have a smaller stream to cross. Little one also wanted to be in the search, so had to go back and carry him. Easy find on the island. Both container and logbook were in good conditions. Little cacher was so excited by the Canadian flag, he took it to had to his collection of flags. Mosquitoes also found us, and we have several bites on our legs! Thanks for placing this here and telling the story of the place. I'm not sure we would go swimming here...

Convinced the husband he should leap the river. After pursuading him he made the jump cleanly! Although shoes were talen off just in case haha

Second cache today after doing some lab caches and shopping in central Christchurch. This was metres from where we parked, so I discarded the sandals and waded in. It took a while. I am not sure if this is still in the correct tree, but apart from that detail the hint still works. TFTC La Vista.

A disappointing DNF for me here after getting very wet! Must have searched every tree on the island but no luck.

17-Jul-20
We have walked past this cache a couple of times and today came up with a plan to attack it in the dark. Parked nearby, and donned our water shoes and took the plunge while our accomplice was keeping watch on shore for muggles. Kept out of sight and found the cache as the hint by previous finders indicated. Once the coast was clear we stealthy plunged back into the river and were soon back blending in with the other randoms of town on a Friday night.
Thanks for the cache, favourite point from us!

Out grabbing a few caches with Sir Belac, I had the job of getting the cache while he looked after my shoes and phone. Spent ages searching then found it on the ground, I hope I've put it back in the right place, I don't know my trees so not sure if it was the right one. Thanks La Vista

Woweee, I am to stoked to finally get this as it has been on my radar for awhile!

I am in Christchurch for a week as part of the on-site intensive part of my distance study through the University. So far this week had been pretty rough, made so much worse by the fact I hadn't found any geocaches. A bit of a break in my schedule for the week and myself and another classmate met in town. After checking out the Riverside market (slightly too early for anything delectable but I will be back for you Sushi train), I said to my friend there was a cache I really really really really wanted to get, so we made our way here. Off went the shoes and the leggings were rolled up, shoot where will I out my phone and pen?? Made my way across (soooo much deeper in places than I expected) with my friend standing guard on the other side, she apparently got stranger looks than me! I was only caching with my phone so I ended up searching at the very end of the island and was just about to leave when I took another sweep closer to the middle and I spotted the beautiful prize. I quickly signed and replaced and made my way back to dry land with a bit more care on the way back apart from one slip and then reached for a friendly hand the last few steps. Absolutely stoked as it is a D/T I didn't have and absolutely worth it so fav point awarded.

We came up the long way from Dunedin this day. We saw many beautiful spots on the way: The Boulder Beach, the Steampunk HQ in Oamaru and even the beautiful Hitchhiker geocache in the south of Christchurch. Nice trip. But too few walking and physical action. A higher Terrain value geocache was needed to fight the lazy car sitting action before ending the day with a nice dinner.

While my partner inspected the restaurants nearby, I silently walked away to inspect this small nice island.

Fortunately the few muggles went away. I searched good place for passing the stream, put out my shoes, went over, put them on again and then...

Yes, I needed some Google lessons in botany to decrypt the hint. And even then I searched the wrong plants Very Happy

But finally I saw the box. Well hidden from sudden muggle views. Well done!

Way back. And yummy pasta!

Thanks for the cache and greetings from Germany!

I was up early to go out and get this cache as it was the nearest unfound to my home. The river is lower than normal so it seemed like a good time for this short person. Managed to stay dry until I got close to the island and I sunk down into the mud and the water went into the gumboots. My first cache for the year and I feel very pleased with myself.

In the city for the carols and thought we'd grab a cache or two nearby. So many people about tonight in town and it's lovely. Didn't quite realise what would be required for this one but should have guessed with the terrain 4. Saw where this was last year, but I didn't commit to getting the cache. We committed getting it this year. Thanks.
