It had been a while since I first DNF'd this one, and with a few more finds worth of experience I thought I'd give it another go. Have visited here twice over the last few weeks, once alone where I spent a good hour+ examining every aspect of the general area, and once with a fellow cacher where we both spent some time researching every clue we could gleam from past logs. As you can see, nothing was found. Would be nice to know if it's still there...
So many dnf - I thought we probably wouldn't succeed here. But I actually found the cache immediately. Nicely done.
However, this is not in good condition, is a bit broken, and the dirt comes in.

I was in the area this afternoon with the aim of picking up three or four caches. This was the first one I looked for. Interesting that in the past two-and-a-half years this cache has been found three times and DNFd 10 times! Make that 11! If I’d been aware of those odds before I started looking, I quite possibly wouldn’t have bothered!
Good thing it has a difficulty rating of 3.5 because it sure doesn’t seem to be a “simple ..... almost park and grab” cache. I spent a while looking before heading up the hill, and then another little while on my return, to no avail. I did come across an interesting structure near GZ which didn’t seem to be serving any useful purpose, but also didn’t appear to be hiding the cache. Maybe it was linked to the cache, but maybe it has nothing to do with it. I don’t as yet know the answer to that.

Found as a part of a previous group TanjackMüley, now WanderingSparrow. Now I'm continuing on my own. TFTC
Although it might sound frustrating to some we found it immediately. We think it’s easier as the cache is open and more obvious. The log isn’t easily extracted and we used tott. Very wet and hard to sign this cache needs maintaining desperately we found the other part of the cache and placed as we thought it needed to be but still doesn’t work. Thanks for the cache!
Found two of yours, drawp, this afternoon, but this is a DNF. After reading a new cache was in place, I thought this would be relatively straight forward. But the GPS couldn’t settle on the fence or, more likely, the trees. So after GB Leader & I spent a good 20 minutes, without success. Where could it be??
Cache container replaced, thanks to Falconlover4ever. All good to be hunted down again.
Sad, this was my second attempt and no such luck. Well I hope I find it next time.
Second cache we looked for but no such luck. Please can the owner have a look and make sure it's still there.
I'm not really surprised that I didn't find this. I haven't had much luck with this series, and I always seem to come to them when time is starting to press. Never mind - there's always another day!
Haha, devious! Quick find. Lid was really tight, didn't screw all the way down when finished.
Finally found this with the help from the co

A quick walk in the area after dinner with TregearP and a quick find. We'd looked for this one once before and been stumped. A bit more experience this time and also a nudge from a previous finder and we were back to look in places we hadn't previously considered. And Hurrah - found!
All in good order - TNLNSL & TFTC.

Fortuitous find, more good luck than anything else. Geocache number 100 on the last day of the year!
Today was the day to come back to this location for some unfinished business. A rainy day, no-one else around and plenty of time to have a good search.
I managed to get soaked to the skin before I finally located it.
Thank you

Count me as one of the 'not so simple' crowd on this one.
Like a previous log, spent a good deal of time in the rain trying to discover what it is I'm missing.
Ah well......!

We went for a walk from the park along the Waiwhetu Stream, up Summit Road back down the Te Whiti Riser and had a look as we returned. The area has recently had a serious thinning of the shrubs and trees to the extent we thought it may have gone and were close to giving up. Fortuitously along came agcnz who gave us some encouragement and not a little guidance and so we found it. Without his input we almost certainly would not have had a DNF. Many TFTC and agcnz's help.
Spent half an hour looking in the rain. No luck. Will have to try again on another day!
We hope that this cache is not lost - it was a such great idea, that we tried to do one like that in Germany...happy hunting to all cachers!

After the puzzle-cracking event, I was one of the flashmob that descended on the area to finally get this 'fast-approaching nemesis cache status' one off our unfound lists. It took us a good 10+ mins of searching, with conflicting indications on our GPS's and phones before another member of the party found it's lair. If it was just me, I'd probably still be searching....TFTC
A posse of cachers turned up to search for this one after leaving the Puzzle time workshop. I was pleased to be part of this group because I freely admit that I doubt I would have found it. What a sneaky hide! There was a fair bit of beating about the bush (and just about everything else) before it was discovered. Selesi took the opportunity to do some CITO. Tftc.
At the puzzle solving workshop, GSEL organised a flashmob to finally track this one down. I've had three or four previous visits, so I was keen to tag along. In the end there was eight of us hunting around. It took a while before there was the cry "I think I've found it!". What a sneaky hide, and while it was technically keeping in with the cache name, it is a little bit of a stretch TFTC +Fav
#1530. Yes gotcha at last. Well technically not me but one of our "flash-mob" who descended on the cache GZ after the nearby puzzle solving event organised by bigcheesenz. This one has grown into a nemesis for me and after probing poor Nic-Jay for a few more clues (I had got some already from yeetrees) I was sure I had the right search zone to explore. I quickly decided that multiple eyes are better than one defective set so asked around at the event to see if anyone was keen to join the search. It seems many attending have had a sorry tale of woe at this site previously. So off we went and met up at the park to try and find the hanging cache. Various search ideas were discussed then the teamwork began with lots of prodding, scratching, peering and occasional groaning. Just when it all looked like it might turn to custard again, those magic words were uttered by one of the team "I think I've found it" and the mob descended to admire a small and very well hidden cache. Yay - logbook signed at last and another drawp nemesis converts to a smilie. Thanks for the cache and a favourite awarded.
GSEL had got good hints from Nic-Jay at a nearby Puzzle event so a few of us headed here. After a reasonable time with us all having a really good search and thanks to the good hints, it appeared before me. Whoo Hoo. TFTC
Was part of the flash mob who descended on the scene after attending the puzzle cache event and obtaining a hint. I certainly would not have thought to look there. TFTC
I had no knowledge of this cache's interesting history. When the puzzle event concluded this afternoon, GSEL say he was off to have another look for it and invited others to join him. I decided to tag along and there was eventually a group of eight searching. Quite a while passed before UlmusLynx uttered the words we had all been dying to hear. The good thing about this cache is that I will be thinking about this type of hide whenever I am conducting a search that appears to be becoming fruitless.
So glad to finally get the smiley on this one with the help of PAF! It has taken me ages to finally track this very, very sneaky hide.

After finding the first in this series, Kjwx and I headed across the deserted park in the darkness.
On reaching GZ, we put our 'think outside the box' brains into gear and started searching in earnest. I soon spotted what can only be described as an enormous arachnid and briefly wondered whether it was a cleverly camouflaged cache. Kjwx dutifully prodded it with a stick to check and it disappeared from sight, which unfortunately made it EVEN MORE TERRIFYING.
I was almost ready to give up on account of severe arachnophobia but I persisted and rather miraculously spotted the cache shortly afterwards.
Very relieved to sign the log and escape! Fantastic cache, thank you!TFTC

#2091 Another perfect day for a bike ride so off I went to find a couple more caches. A very, very cunning hide here! Loved it!! Deserves a favourite point, thanks for the challenge and keeping me on my toes. TFTC!
ok man, this one is really tricky and earns a FP.

It's funny how many cool hiding places you find when trying to find something. No luck for us today but sure I'm in the right area. We will be back, oh yes we will ☺
Another great find today while out in the area with Just-Lookin.
Good to get this one found!

Still hanging there somewhere. Third go at it and its elusive. Heard some new ideas of where to look for it but didn't help. Place is full of rubbish and mud at present. Not the nicest GZ to search. Another day.
On a roll tonight. Another quick find (By Miss Orsome4some) with cache quickly in hand. Its definitely hanging but not as you think. Cool hide a favourite from us. TFTC.
Today was my 4th or 5th visit to look for this cache. After reading and re-reading the previous logs, I realised we were looking for something different. Finally it was spotted by TrinaSian (well done her!). Like previous finder, I will say that although the title is technically true, it is also misleading. Great hide. A fave from me. TFTC
Find No 6 for today - out with BigcheeseNZ. Yes this one eluded us for a few visits. Agree title is right but misleading - thanks Paula for reading and re-reading logs. Clever hide - really liked it. TFTC
Having just found one drawp cache in first place checked I thought I would give this one another go. Had tried once before without success but we were running short of time to look thoroughly. Afraid it was the same result today. Not much time again and no luck. Eyesight needs to sharpen up to find this tricky little sod. Too many trees and branches at the GZ!
We searched and searched for this one. Then eventually resorted to a PAF. Even after the hint it still took a while to track down. The name is accurate but very misleading. Great container and concept. Thanks for the cache. Did with MycroMan, Astro Hunter and Violet Butterfly and Wandering Dragons
Cache # 2,375 - GPS was spot on, and it still took us 20 minutes and a phone call to a friend to actually locate. Incredibly difficult and interesting cache. TNLNSL. Did with Astro Hunter, Crytal Fairy, Violet Butterfly and MycroMan. TFTC!
Did today with The Wandering Dragons, Crystal Fairy, Astro Hunter and MycroMan. Very well hidden. Thanks!

Stumbled upon it rather than found it. GPS was next to useless.GZ always seemed to be 8 to 10 m away. Just glad its done and out of the way. TFTC
Man needed a phone a friend option on this one a very tricky weeeeee hide. Well placed
Very clever. Took some careful looking from four sets of eyes but spotted something odd. Earns a favourite from us! TFTC
Last one for the day as we walk back to the car. Got ourselves a little distracted by all sorts of things initially but then well spotted by sarahjane20. A FP from us, tftc
A quick find without the GPSr on a late call, I already knew where it was from my previous visit when the cache had gone. Yes it definitely is back! Actually I'd regard this as an unfortunate place to put a cache like this - it's close to houses and because of its difficulty, the length of time that people will take to search for it will ensure that you *will* get noticed by neighbours. Even more so if there's more than one person searching and they're talking to each other. I suspect that what happened (my suspicion only, I don't know for sure) is that the neighbours spotted people searching and after seeing where they found the cache, went and had a look for themselves. They won't have known about geocaching and may have suspected that it was a drug drop point of some sort. Once they realised that the cache was innocuous, they went back and replaced it. My guess anyway, but it's really good to see that whoever took it has been honourable. I have had cases in the past where a cache hasn't been there on a first search and then I have found it in a previously-searched place on a subsequent occasion but it has never been as clear-cut as with this one as the housing was left in place here to make it obvious that it had gone. A nicely designed cache - one of the most difficult I have done for a long time as there are so many places it could be and so little information is given about what you're looking for apart from what can be inferred from the cache name. Signed log, thanks for an excellent cache and it gets a favourite point for its sheer hellishness
Appears it is good again. Missing cache has arrived back home again. Mysterious happening around gz????
It is definitely there, this one had been bugging us and we have tried twice before with no luck, when we saw the log that it had returned we returned for another look. It's true what they say... Third time lucky! Was a pretty quick find today too. Earns a favourite point from us. TFTC
Yes it really has gone, I was serious. Cache owner needs to disable pending replacement. Called back this morning with a previous finder to confirm its absence. I can provide a photo of what is left if further evidence is desired.
Woooohoooo! Third time lucky
CaligulaNZ and I went out for another crack at this one this morning, after a bit of a hunt around and looking in the wrong bit of biota I hear a cry of delight from Caligula! I've found it (the rest of the conversation may or may not be printable....), a wee dash over and there it was, the most elusive cache I have had the pleasure of chasing so far

Early-morning cache hunt before work with Dr Bogan - after all else had been effectively checked over there was really only one option left - should have guessed this sooner (well, I kinda did ). Still, took a systematic search to find the tricky little blighter. Yes, "bad" words were said, but also a smile of relief, as well as recognition that all made perfect sense in the end.
Nicely done drawp - and gets a fav point from me.
Well done on the FTF waiti20 ... well deserved.
