After the Mega event, I was making my way to Christchurch today, making a few rest stops along the way as any keen cacher should. All good here, TFTC, Heafudd and the WGHS Banana Heads.
Quick find here, the logbook was soggy in his bag, someone added a new logbook and bag. We placed it in a double pill container, that we got at the mega event. The container is broken, but the log should be fine now.
Quick find at GZ, not many options. when we saw the bag full of water with the log, I ran to the car to grab a new container TFTC
12:26FITW ObnoxiousSpaceCatQuick park&grab here. Wasn't sure if it would be the same type of memorial as the Mighty Oaks series, but it was, in fact the same.Kia ora! Paldies! Thanks for the cache, Heafudd!#11528
Nice little tree and a quick find at the coordinates. Another minute I needed for several challenges I'm working on based on latitude minutes. Found with mumandme. Thanks so much for placing the cache!
Completely saturated, dried out as best I could, covered with plastic bag as container lid broken.
Wonder when it be came a not so mighty.. sure hasnt gone very far towards that goal. Container lid is cracked and container resembled a mini diving pool..too logs within to mushy to sign..had no extra to add
Travelled from Hampden to Oamaru today, then back to Kakanui. Picked up about a dozen caches along the way, plus an Ad Lab. Stopped for this one as I was heading to Oamaru. A quick find. #7402. TFTC.
It's a little oak tree, nice to see it growing well. The cache needs a new log though, this one is a tad damp. Cheers
Trouve ! / Found it ! Le logbook est tremp. Impossible d'y mettre mon pseudo. La couvercle est cass et la bote prend l'eau. Je n'ai pas de quoi la remplacer.5109me cache trouve.Merci Heafudd and the WGHS Banana Heads pour la cache The logbook is soaked. Impossible to put my nickname in it. Day 6: The Road to OamaruTodays journey was a long one, bringing us from the South up to the northern part of Otago, via Middlemarch. Todays blustery conditions added to the fun and challenge of finding caches, though otherwise the weather remained perfect. The highlight of the day were the Sutton Salt Lake cache and the Moeraki Boulders, and both did not disappoint. Thanks to all the COs for making this leg of the journey an enjoyable one! (End of the cut and paste bit)Heres the specific log for this cache:Popped by for another bit of light entertainment on the last bit of the journey to Oamaru. The cache was easily found here, but it is rather flooded within so logging was impossible. Took a photo as proof. TFTC!
What are the chances ... there was a car parked right next to GZ i waited he waited i went down the side road to turn around but he was still there on my return so will have to leave it for another day
Today I hit the road and drove back from Palmerston to Dunsandel and found a few caches along the way. This one was a quick find but the cache was very wet. I tried to make my mark on the log but not sure if its visible. TFTC, Biggles.

Log a bit too mushy to sign, sorry for not replacing the logsheet, it was raining and I didn't want to go back to the van and then back out again!

Out exploring, very apt title for cache after other specimens we have seen. Thanks for the cache Heafudd.
Find #7215

We are from Abilene, Texas, USA and have come to New Zealand to visit with a friend. We have gotten ten different Cache Types and will get the 11th Type (Webcam) when we go to Christchurch on Monday. Today Bitsprayer is taking us out to find more caches around Oamaru.
Thank you, Heafudd for placing this cache for all to find. We sign log sheets either as Love Cachers or LCers.
Driving over 50 miles to have...
Rusty barbed wire ripping through your clothes...
Curious rattlesnakes that come out of nowhere...
Itchy mosquito bites on every inch of your body...
A 40 mph wind gust blowing sand into your ears, nose and mouth...
Cactus needles getting stuck deep in your hands, arms and legs...
Thorny Mesquite trees scratching you up from head to toe...
Some or all of these things on a hike through 101° heat...
To sign your name or trade a toy...
SOUND LIKE FUN TO YOU?
It does to us, we're geocachers in West Texas! - {Taken from a Greater Abilene Association geocoin.}

In the area doing the Penguin AdLab, and heading down to Invercargill for the night, to go over to Stewart Island to complete the PWGT... thought I'd stop and grab this too, as I think it will help with GC9RQ1G. Quickly located.
TFTC Heafudd, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 3 find(s) of 14 today, making this find #3756

Thanks for setting this up

Even though double bagged, the log was so wet I couldn’t write on it. Took a photo as proof of life. TFTC
Tftc. Tricky find. Not found for a long time. Got a zap in the process of finding lol
Heading back to Chch, slowly, and stopping for random caches on the way.
Thanks for replacement log, Lytteltonwitch. Quick find.

It helps if you look at the right angle. I have added a new logbook as the other one was too wet to write on
Certainly not mighty now but one day. I have planted trees I’m unlikely to ever enjoy the shade of.
bugger will have to change it next time down that way ,just checked it a couple of weeks ago and was all ship shape!!
Time to stop for a quick park & grab as we head back to Christchurch today. Lovely day & good to have a cache to look for. Log quite wet but able to sign it. TFTC
I'm catching up on my logging which seemed to have stalled even though we have been in lockdown, my excuse is that I have been working throughout.
Found on our homeward leg. Heading for Ashburton so not stopping very often.
This started out as a Geocaching road trip to Invercargill to drop off some stuff for the niece and collect some other stuff for Mrs banian. It turned into a bit of a race back to Wellington to beat the Covid-19 lockdown.
We were able to rebook our Ashburton accommodation and ferry ticket to earlier in the week. When we arrived in Picton the vehicle queue was almost a kilometre long, and got longer behind us. Fortunately, as we had tickets we were still able to get on our sailing and made it back before "Level 4" kicked in.
Be nice and keep safe! TFTC Heafudd and the WGHS Banana Heads.

#17666. A quick drive by on the way north (shortly before turning off SH1). Log was wet (the container isn't particularly waterproof). TFTC.
After a couple of days in Dunedin, StreetWalkerNZ and I are heading north to Kakanui for a couple of nights.
We have found a few caches in the mighty oaks series, and this was indeed a mini-me example . Container had water in it. TFTC.

Found but coords were off for us. Didn’t sign because the log is really wet. So much traffic so nice to stop for a bit ️
Down from Auckland to claim the last 2 Geotour caches and to pick up a heap of others for a challenge I’m working on. Not only that, I’m working towards my 8000th cache, oh where will it land I wonder??
A nice and quick drive by here, thanks for that.

GeoFoxy is in NZ to do a cruise but decided to stay with me for a few days. This is day 4 of her trip and she wanted to see the Geodesic boulders so a trip south was the plan for today and of course caching.
One day it will be a big mighty oak but it will take time. Watch out for the top wires as GeoFoxy found out the hard way.

If you find your GPS'er takes you astray watch out for charged fence. You can get quite the awakening....ask me how I know. TFTC
A quick and easy find. Put a new log and bag in as the encumbent was sodden. Cheers
Time to head back home from Dunedin, spending the morning cruising around the town and the afternoon on SH1.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

This is day four of a ten day trip down to Dunedin and back to move my daughter to Dunedin so she can get her master’s degree at Otago University.
I am now on the road heading north. I don’t need to make too many miles, so I can concentrate on a few caches.
The coords seemed to be off, but no problem finding this one. TFTC.

Log wet have taken to dry. Have now replaced log as all nice and dry. The log has been all the way to Christchurch and back. With Kiscardi and NZ Bozzy.
Thanks on a trip with my sister NZ Bozzy to our auntie’s funeral in Christchurch- made a plan to grab some caches around here that we hadn’t found on previous trips

Found during our return road trip from Papamoa to Dunedin. No problem with the find although coords out a bit for us. TFTC.
During vacation in NZ we grabbed caches along the way. This was an easy one but a welcomed disturbion of long drivey
Back in action, have moved it closer to the item in the title, also changed the hint and the coordinates have changed as well .s45 16.385 e170 48.059
Called here this morning, I hadn't seen the recent DNF or I might not have stopped. The coordinates were not very accurate but with a little intuition I had the cache in hand very quickly. Container and contents are pretty wet, however it was still possible to write on the log paper with my "wet paper" pen. A plug here for decent waterproof paper - it doesn't cost all that much and it saves a lot of hassles. Signed log, TFTC.
Came down this way from the North for the Oamaru Geofest, and decided to add a few more days to the weekend trip and turn it into a bit of a Mega mission, starting 5pm on Wednesday 18th and finishing 3pm Monday 23rd! Teaming up with Cats&Dragons for the first 24 hours then with Iammrwalker joining the team for the remainder.
Just a few of the stats for the trip were:
- 700 caches found, including 270+ puzzles (thanks to the Christchurch Geoart)
- 3300 km's driven, using over 500L of fuel $$$
- Just over 20 hours of sleep (about 4 per day on average), and about 100 hours of caching time.
Certainly a Mega Trip!
Day 5: With a good nights sleep for the first time this trip, we were up early and out the door for another full days caching. The goal for today was to cache our way down to the Moeraki Boulders and then see where the next cache lead us. One thing we were looking out for today was caches which hadn't been found in a long time.
Sorry about the cut and past logs, but that seems to happen with cache runs of this size!

After having completed the Mighty Oak series over the last 2 days it seemed appropriate to stop and pick up this cache on our way further south. Looked in the spot indicated by the hint, then noticed the cache at the nearby powerpole. Thanks.
Found it. Was a bit wet. I took out of its bag in a hope it might dry a little. Tftc
Begins our holiday in NZ in Christchurch, we came from Italy to find our son who lives there for two years.
Today we decided on a multi-day tour, after stopping at Omarama today continues to Dunedin, scenic road we will stop on the lakes that meet
Dunedin is back in Chch, stopping to pick up some cache
Greetings from Italy

I have been planning this trip for a while now as I had some airpoints due to expire and wanted to go somewhere for Wellington Anniversary Weekend. So I've made it a 4 day weekend and come down from Palmerston North for a caching road trip. I have two goals for this weekend, to get to 2500 caches before 23 January as that is when I took up caching last year and to get caches on as many latitude minutes as possible that will hopefully qualify me for a challenge cache in the Manawatu. This is day 2 - Oamaru - Palmerston - Ashburton.
I haven't been to Oamaru and the surrounding area for five years and it doesn't look like it has changed much. Such a pretty town, full of history
Out bright and early for a quick run to Palmerston and am now heading back towards Oamaru. Pulled off the highway to a safe park and cache was quickly found. Log book saturated so signed as best I could which to be fair wasn't very good. Tftc

This morning started out with CITO in Dunedin and then headed up to the Oamaru CITO with Eve07. Great fun day out with good haul of caches and rubbish
Not in the obvious spot but thanks to E ve07 managed to get onto the right track as the last bit of sunlight disappears.

Was heading south with Popmac for a family gathering so we couldn't not find any caches on the way. Stopped here for a quick find. Thanks for the cache.
I had stopped and looked for this at least twice before with no luck, but with the other half of the Team in attendance it wasn't a problem.

We had stayed the night at Moeraki in our camper van. Today is time to head home.
I thought this was part of the mighty oak series. It was good to stop and look at the memorial and find the geocache.
