No luck here yet again!
I suspect it's gone now though. The tyres that *were* around the trees are gone and this now appears to be where the mowing contractors dump their grass clippings.

On the way home from a to day Easter weekend in Dunedin. Just read an old log which confirmed wht I was looking for, but alas, no find today.
Y Oh Why did I try for just one more? If I'd just headed home I could have finished on a find but, no, I just *had* to try for this one.
I hunted around the likely spots with no joy. I hunted again. Nope.
I messaged a previous finder who told me what I was looking for. Hmm. I saw something like that but it looked real. I'll check again... yup, real! Glad I used a cabbage tree leaf to check and not my hand!
I did a spot of weeding, lifted a couple of "things", but still turned up nothing.
I'll keep an eye on this and try again later.

That took a effort to find but got there in the end. It will be harder once the nearby houses are finished being built.
This was my 5th visit, and with Lyttelton witch's help, we found the little blighter!! REALLY glad to get a smiley here!
Gave it a nudge with another cacher (sorry, didn't get the name) but no luck today. Next time, nice spot and quite different to the last time I walked over Butchers Bridge!
26 August 2018 1:54 PM got to cross the historic Butchers Footbridge twice as it wasn't on the other side of the river after all! Like the look of the town houses being built along the river and overlooking the cache. TFTC FastFrames
I was determined to search for a good length of time after the previous DNF; persistence eventually paid off.
The bag was wet on the outside but all good w the log.
A beautifully sunny Good Friday, great to be outside enjoying this lovely spot.
TFTC.
Addit - oops - quick trip back to GZ to retrieve sunglasses....

Was after caches that start with letter Y today. But could not find this one. Luckily, Kaiapoi has a couple of others.

Found after a few mins after spotting a hint in one of the logs. Thought too much into the hint. Lovely walk along here, tftc.
After reading all the logs it felt I was solving a cryptic crossword! After some fruitless searching I noticed something that matched a hint and quickly had it in hand. Never been out here before so tftc brining us out here.
Yahoo. Found it at last! 6th visit! But the log was too soppy to write on. So I hopped back on my bike and rode back home to pickup a replacement log and a fresh baggie. I returned half an hour later (8km ride) and swapped out the gungy lognbag for fresh. All good. Glad at last to get rid of my near 3 year old nearest unfound.

Back in Kaiapoi for a few days to do some cache maintenance and find some of the new caches placed in the last couple of years. Soon found. TFTC.

Nice quick find, as the drizzle started. Cheers.
Hmm not raining, best get out and do some caching before it starts.
Thanks to the CO's for the hides. Cheers.

Checked to see if it was still there as I pass walking the dog most days. It's still there bit overgrown. Just don't split your side trying to find it.
7388. This cache was a nice easy one in an area we are becoming more familiar with. After parking the car on the wrong side of the stream it took 10 minutes to walk to it and 10 seconds to find it! This is going to be a huge subdivision. Several years ago we did a cache at the footbridge - it was a country cache in the middle of nowhere then! Thanks for the cache and the exercise. Rodney and Iris.
Y Oh Why indeed!! Spent a long time searching but had no luck! Both Busy Paws and I had a thorough search but didn't find it. Hope to return in time to re-attempt this one!
Geo Jessie and I gave this a really good "go". Almost depressed that we couldn't find it, moved things, poked into and pulled, went 10 metres off GZ each side of, but no smilie. Will have to return!
Need you really ask Y Oh Why? We all know why to find a cache and gain another smilie. Enjoyed the walk along from the new view cache then had a bit of a panic about whether we were on the right side of the water or nor - but all good as we rounded the bend. Whew! The passenger had a brilliant idea and had the cache in record time. This is a lovely area that has been developed here. TFTC #8972
Out caching today with my sister and brother in law and Jojo and mum. Jojo and I are down from Blenheim while sister lives in Mandeville. So 5 of us and the focus today was to be the horse series, but in the end we did none of them. For some reason the coords I had loaded weeks ago while solving were not showing, so we focused on some of the many other ones in the area. Horsies will have to wait. Sorry for the cut and paste. TFTC to all COs
Noticed the DNF but had a crack anyway. We did find but only after revisiting a previously searched area. It all makes sense....

No work+ no rain +dash day= ideal conditions for geocaching. I dnffed this one last time. I don't know how. I have not been back here since. The new suburb is slowly taking shape. Thanks for placing these caches.
After finding New View, we went for a wander along the river to this cache. StreetWalker had failed to find it on his last visit here, so he was keen to have another go, with an extra pair of eyes. It turned out that neither me nor my eyes were required as he found the cache just about straight away. And where he had searched last visit, he assured me. Then Y Oh Why did he not find it last time?
Good name for the cache, describes GZ perfectly. Thanks for bringing me here and TFTC.

#12389. Last time I searched it wasn't ideal conditions (I was short of time, and underdressed for the chilly nor' easter. It was an instant find today (not sure how I missed it last time). TFTC.
Stopped by on my way home from work to see if I could make this the cache of the day. It wasn't until I got to GZ that the hide was a tricky one. A short search was unsuccessful, so I decided to come back when I had more time.
After all the hype and a single failed previous attempt, I managed to find it very quickly today... Short sharp systematic search is all it took. TFTC (2869)
Found it this time. It was exactly where I thought it would be. I obviously just didn't check quite well enough last time. TFTC.
At long last and after many visits and a huge shove from the CO finally found this one. We had looked here several times but obviously didn't look hard enough. Thanks for the challenge and the help.
Out for a few hours caching with jess.daphne Great day for it and not too busy which was great. Tftc.
Aaaarrrgggghhhh. FINALLY found it- in pretty much the first place we looked- but probablyabout the 59th time of looking, and then of course it was "how on earth did we miss that" I guess I'll have to give it a fav just because I am SO glad to finally tick it off.
It didn't take too long to find this cache, although we were slowed by reading too much into the hint. TFTC

Wow - what a crazy hectic day!!!!
Worked from home - had some electrical work done, went into work for a meeting, and I was just so beside myself all day long that I almost forgot to find a cache!!!
But never fear, it wasn't completely forgotten!! Went out after bringing pizza home for dinner

Well, I am not sure why, but we headed out to find one - possibly something to do with some form of addiction?? Relatively quick find on a lovely evening - not sure what will happen in a few years? TFTC!!
While sitting down beside the stream signing the log there were a few wee trout jumping out of the water catching there tea. A great sight. TFTC
Tried to find a few days ago and realised it had been missing when I went to load the DNF and since replaced. Back today for a quick find. TFTC

I am in Christchurch for the mega as there will be to many caches to log I am logging standard caches for everyone. Thanks to everyone for placing their caches. tftc
With it being a little easier we come back to get the find. We searched a lot last time here. Not sure how we would have missed it but we did last time. Tftc
At last a smilie face on this one. We'd been out her three times and scoured the area but still never had any luck. Would love to know what the original camo was. TFTC
Had checked not long ago but with 3 dnfs I'll rechecked tomorrow morning after event 10amish and replace if need be then I'll enabled it again for all to find
It had been muggled again. Replaced but not with the cool camouflage container so will be a easier find.
Nice walk. Great spots of watercress out in the water way. DNF the cache but that is more me not wanting to be too conspicuous //
Ok so today I had a proper look. Well at least by novice standards. It's probably here and experience may let me find it. I'll be back.
After yesterdays rain & frost and resulting black ice I wasn't sure that I wanted to head out caching tonight.....but it was a nice enough day and most of the water had dried off the road....so I figured "why not". This was the last stop of the night and it was well nigh 11pm at night....I had initially been 'saving' this one for the MAY spelling challenge and then ended up not needing it, then I thought oooo JULY.....but on checking I don't think I need it for that either.....so it became 'fair game' again. Having found it with TW back in January I knew what to look for.....but with it getting replaced I wasn't completely sure if it would be the same/different or hidden the same....oh well...nearby & passing; in for a penny!
Even with the fore knowledge (although not 100% certain) it still took 15min and a systematic search to turn up the cache (It was the same & in the same(ish) spot!). I could have had it in hand quicker - just my first random spot searches weren't thorough enough - it took a slow systematic search to find it.
It's still there folks. Still 'Near two cabbage trees'....and believe it or not......its about a 'handful' in size!
Cheers and thanks.

It was there 5 days ago as checked on it but with a email today from a cacher i thought i better check again and it has got missing will replace ASAP
TFTC. An unexpected opportunity to grab a few caches with flobberworm!. Off we went for some hopeful speed caching.
Sorry that we didn't find this cache - we had an idea what to look for, and this was confirmed by the cache owner not long after leaving GZ. It wasn't until I was almost home that I had an aar ha moment. Hopefully it will wait until I am in this area again.
Thanks to Fast Frames for your speedy response to my query email.

Thought ild check on it on the way hope from seeing the inlaws and yes it is still there safe and waiting
We were not very hopeful after reading the previous logs - and unfortunately we had to leave empty handed as well.
The first of 2 DNFs tonight and we spent ages here looking too. Oh well, we'll be back.
Got to chat to a muggle with 2 cute K9s while we tried to look not too suspicious searching for this cache (yeah right !) but alas, had to call it quits as so many other caches await... no worries, " We'll be back... "
After mucking around for a DNF the other night came back today with a hint from the CO and soon sniffed out the log! Tftc
Mr TG and I headed out for the first Monday Mad Mission for the year as the TG clan had come home from up north. The plan was to find a haunted house, a reserve or two (with the outside chance of a FTF), place a cache, walk/drive/clamber to some FFT caches, have a catch up and be home at a resonable hour. Most of these were achieved. The latter was not achieved I ended up rolling in after 12am. Now back to the cache. I can't wait for May or July for to collect this one for Gracie's Month Challenges and decided I'd use up this Y for January. We arrived at GZ and started a bit of a search but got distracted by the fish activity in the river. We heard heaps jumping and saw a few two. Saw a huge eel and it was fun. We got back to the cache and found it. Ha, what a funny shape, many jokes were had on it's construction.
Thanks for the cache.

Was with TW on a Monday Nights caching adventure....this one was on his Hit List....whereas I'm saving it for the Spelling Month Challenge....I need a 'Y' for May! Long may this cache last!
Found it for TW after a bit of a search......spent an age spot lighting the river - heaps of Eels and jumping trout!!....

I apologize for the EXTREMELY late log. 5th and last day of our End of Year caching trip. Last night we stayed at furpurse's house in ChCh and today we are heading home via the Travelling Tinkers powertrail. We looked in the obvious spots first and saw the cache but kept looking. A couple of minutes later the 'wait a minute' monent was had and we were quickly extracting the log. Thanks for the cache
Searched for my regulation 10 mins then watched a small trout below feed on the constant supply of floating insects that the stream delivered to him/her. As for the cache, I see that it was found yesterday so I'll be back.
Only managed to get out to search for todays cache in the fading light at 930pm, so was kinda hoping this would be a somewhat easy-ish find...turns out the twilight isn't the best time to be searching in this area, especially as there was a local fisherman down the river a little...after a little nudge from the CO, I eventually spotted the well disguised cache. Nicely done. You'd like to think this cache wouldn't go missing. Thanks for the cache.
No joy on this one today. God had us in the middle of the grass. But will be back to try again. Thanks for all the new caches in the area
Have to confess to some help here and when we found it we were so surprised as we'd been all over it and still couldn't see it .Hope it lasts as it is a good one. Thank you. Sort of a micro'd nano, if there is such a thing!!!!!
Our last Dot Day for the Year, and we didn't want to go to faraway so came back here.
It wasn't a case of Y Oh Why?...for us but,Where Oh Where?.Had another rummage around at GZ,and finally found the wee Rascal.Unfortunatly a group of young boy Muggles pulled up at the Roadside, while we were fiddling with the Cache, and we think they may have been watching us.Probably they were wondering what we were doing.Nice to have it of our unfound list...
Bonnie carries the Tool that we sometimes need,on her Lead, and today we had to use it..TFTH

Came to look for this with group on the 20th but no luck. Just about ready to give up and one last look and there it was. TFTC.
I love the DNF logs with sneaky hides but with such a large group thought I better check and ...............
yes it is still there happy hunting
yes it is still there happy hunting
If people would like a hint then feel free to message me and ill give you one. Otherwise it is there ready to be found as checked it today and it's still there.
Y Oh Why did it take 3 visits to find it? Thanks for the hints from fellow cachers. Fast Frames you deserve a favourite. TFTC
6 of us had a hunt in almost every place possible, then 3 more Cachers turned up,and we thought at least one of the 9 of us would find it,but sadly it eluded all of us tonight. Will watch this one with interest..
2nd time we had looked and even with a large group of us couldn't find it. Will keep a watch on it and try again when we are that way.
With such a large group hunting there was no way we could have looked unobtrusive. You would think that upwards of eight desperate searchers would've come up trumps!!And only a D2.
In the area but left this one....it'll be handy come maY or julY ...LOL...(hope it sticks around 'till then!)......
