Logs
The cache hanging about 1.5 metres from the ground and has lost its screw top lid.I found the location very uncomfortable with all the screeching and the odour coming from a bat infestation which is not produced by the guano, but by the bats themselves and their urine. As such, it has a musty, ammonia-type smell, and the larger the colony, the more pervasive and onerous the smell has become.Apart from that, a clever idea for a geocache.Signed the log, added an extra plastic bag for good measure and returned as found
Found It!
Strange place. I might have scared the bats away while searching around. I don't think the cache is where it's suppose to be (it's at a much lower elevation) but it was a quick and easy find.

Holy bats Batman! A short stroll from Hungry Jack's to GZ. The GPS played up a bit under the trees and screeching bats. Eventually spotted the cache hanging and signed log. It does need some TLC. TFTC
"Holy pisstrough Batman! This place stinks!!!". All the pieces are there, not all connectedt as they should be, but at lleast we found it! OCW Brewmaker. TFTC
The cache needs some TLC. I found the two parts of the cache, but they are broken and lying on the ground. I hung them back up in the tree to keep them elevated and easy to spot, but the concept part is broken so it is just hanging with the cache. Logbook is still otherwise ok
**This Cache:**
Ordered some Domino's for dinner, and walked over to this cache whilst I was waiting for it to be cooked!
Yes the bats were quite loud, but they stayed up in the trees and it was hard to even spot them. Didn't seem as creepy as I had imagined, but maybe that is because I have been inside a bat infested stormwater drain before with them circling my head, so this was nothing!
Thanks for the cache, it's a bit broken though Looks like it used to be an awesome set-up

**This Trip:**
An awesome weekend getaway to the Illawarra-Shellharbour region! When I saw a Community Celebration planned, it provided a good excuse for another getaway out of Canberra. Booked a night in the Wollongong CBD to make the most of it!
I managed to snag 20 of the highest quality finds in two days, with eight of them being T5, two T4's, including a bunch of Wherigo's and even a virtual!
Lots of great paddling and waterways on offer, you are truly spoilt down here and the possibilities for more water-based caches are never-ending!
Thanks to all the CO's for the caches, and Muppet95 for providing excellent company on Day 1!

Think it’s a bit broken. Geoson who never wears shoes was regretting this one
I would never have ventured into there if it were not for a geocache. Noisy spot! TFTC.
An interesting cache at an even more interesting location! Once I found a suitable path in, the cache didn’t take long to find.
Thank you for the cache!
Thank you for the cache!
We braved the freaky place to sign the log. Worst part was the bat poop on the ground tbh
After doing a bit of gardening this morning it was time to hunt for today's cache and this was it.
Parking at the nearby food establishment it was a short walk along the footpath and then into the bat cave. I entered near the exposed star pickets.
The bats either didn't like me being there or were naturally noisy. Perhaps a bit of both. A creepy place even in broad daylight.
After wandering around while the gps struggled to settle I eventually found the appropriately themed cache.
Hope I haven't contracted a novel strain of coronavirus from finding this one. happily no bat poo landed on me but my shoes were coated in the stuff afterwards. Definitely not a cache for your Sunday best!
Thanks for the cache! Not one I will forget anytime soon.

An interesting location. The bats weren't happy about our presence. We quickly SL and departed. TFTC
I am terrified of bats and I found this one at dusk which is a big deal for me. Nice spot though.
Now that was a surprise! Not just to us but to the thousands of flying animals that were screeching once we crashed their pad and flying around as we approached GZ. Found where the second last finder put it. The log was unrecognisable so we left a replacement. The lid is cracked and could be replaced. Thanks for bringing us here. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
This was a great cache, although the bats made it very clear that they weren't keen on me invading their space! Quite spooky even though it was the middle of the day. I spotted the container and soon worked out how to retrieve it - great work on the mechanism. Unfortunately the container is quite wet inside, and while the log was usable enough for me to write my initials on, it's basically a ball of damp mush. Also, and this is the worst bit, when I put everything back it went back into place nicely and then just as it reached the proper location it suddenly fell off! On closer inspection the attachment has actually rusted through. There was no way to replace it properly so I hung it on a nearby branch of the same tree. Sorry about that! Great cache but it does need maintenance. TFTC!
Quick find here. Having a previous finder with me helped! Log wet - TFTC
Found with nissan 65. Nice quick visit here as bit smelly. Log very wet and unable to sign. Photo if required
Great cache and I managed to avoid bring shat on lol needs new log as old one is a wet mess
Found with Darksidedan and Joolay as we come towards the end of our trip which included 7 event caches in 2 days! None of us was really keen when we saw how many bats were in the trees but many took off as we entered the area. The cache was soon in hand and the log signed using initials as we often do in small caches to save space. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for us to enjoy. Cache was returned to its hiding place.
Found with Smittengranny and Darksidedan on a NYD trip for the event in Wollongong. Interesting all round. No bat poop on me. Great cache but needs maintenance. TFTC
I felt Required to do this Geocache as I am Awesome Batman and I am glad I did. I did this cache at Dusk so the Bats where really active. When I got there I was a bit worried that I would get attacked by the bats but by the time I started searching for the cache this worry went away. This as been one of the best geocaches I have ever done so it is well worth a Favourite Point. TFTC!!!!
Finalf29 was wargaming down at Wollongong Uni, so of course I came down to do a bit of caching. I had decided to find a whole lot of puzzles I have solved. Didn't have much luck...my tablet was playing up big time! All I could get was my first multi and then I couldn't access any cache pages!!!!!... and thus no waypoints!!!!! So I had to do a bit of guess work off the main map page...managed to find 4 trads this way... though lots of DNF's (was very tricky when you have no idea what you are looking for).
This was the my last for the day. I had, thankfully, printed out some multi caches in Figtree. So decided to stop for a lunch break before collecting numbers. Noticed this cache nearby. I had read this one ages ago and said to myself at the time "No way would I ever go in there. It probably smells and I'll get pooped on". With such a low find count for the day, and in a moment of madness, I thought go for it. I looked for a likely geotrail and followed it in...no bad smells, but the raucous noise was nearly unbearable. I did a sweep around of the larger trees and only spotted the cache because I was watching for the poop to land on me (what was I going to do, use my superpowers to jump out of the way...no wait Batman has no superpowers, he only has a cape and snazzy belt)..."Holy bat poop, how the hell do I get that"...used a natural geotool, someone had thoughtfully left there (left my bat belt in the batmobile). Great cache hide. Big happy dance and a huge smile on my face... I found it and didn't get pooped on!! Favourite point from me. Now back to the bat cave. Thanks for the adventure

Whole Moley, there was a rather large gathering of bats above GZ.
Clever cache TFTC

TFTC. Never have I seen a gathering of so many bats. Didn't seem to happy with us being there & began to squawk & create a big racquet. With all the ruckus we had created didnt take long to sign the cache & GTFO.
What an awesome cache. Beautiful in this patch of bush along with all the bat shrieks. Nice to get away from the sun. TFTC
What a great idea - loved the innovative cache but slightly freaked out by noisy bats - kids didn't want to enter the trees but we were all glad we did - ground seemed poo-free but geo-dad got a
Oops - posted early - meant to add pic of log - it was too wet to sign - plus you guessed it - bat poo on dad!
Awesome! What a great cache idea! Took me a bit to work out how to get to the cache but after a slight mishap I had CIH, SL and returned faster than it took to write this! TFTC
This was my favourite cache of the day,I parked at Hungryjacks and strolled up to GZ,once I entered the batcave I then noticed them everywhere!!!
How cool,I spotted the cache while grabbing a few pics,I then found a tool and soon signed the log,no poo on me today, well a little on my shoes
Giving this a Fav point
Thanks JSB001 for the cache

Found this quite quickly. I live down the road from the batgrove and have mucked around in there a couple of times before. Took a star, left some wattle seeds. The seeds need fire to germinate.
Thanks! I've driven past this countless times and never realised there was such a healthy colony going! The 3yo daughter loved the experience.
Having a healthy love/hate relationship with bats the WooTownCrew equally hated & loved this cache! Driven past here so many times & never knew these guys were here! Never seen a cache like this before either! TFTC!!!
11852. Found during a weekend caching trip to Wollongong with specimenX. Overall a great weekend with the only downer being the high number of DNFs - especially around the lake.
A plan was hatched for specimenX and myself to visit Wollongong this weekend to attempt the SES (those that we have solved anyway - we have a few left for next time) and LIPT series plus others. After an excellent day caching yesterday we headed out bright and early this morning to try to finish off our planned number of caches. Next find for the day. This one was close to our motel, and it was a really nice location and a now familiar cache set up at GZ. Log signed, cache returned and we headed off to the next one.
Thanks JSB001 !! It was great to see the bats up close. Favourite Point !
TNLN - TFTC !!

Plans were set in place with fitzy_1965 for a weekend caching mission around the Illawarra region We had a great time nabbing a whole bunch of caches with the only disappointment being the high number of DNF's due to missing containers
I LOVED this cache! I was reading the description of the cache in the car and I was excited to read about the bat colony! Flying foxes are one of my favourite animals-intelligent and vitally important for seed dispersal in our forests...plus they are soooo cute!
We parked at the nearby burger joint then wandered over. Found an easy way in and that's when we saw all the bats! They were alarmed at our presence initially so lots took flight, but then most of them settled with a group nearby not really worried we were there and in fact they were looking at us signing the log!
Thanks for the hide, JSB001 Definitely a fave for this one!

What a very cool cache. We found it spooky in there but geokid loved seeing bats up and close. TFTC definitely a fav of ours. Drop TB Frog.
I did visit here some time ago and was a bit put-off with the amount of under-foot poo there was.
I pass this spot at least once a week and every time I pass I am inspired to revisit. This time I came prepared with something to enclose my feet....but today didn't need anything and only got a little bit on my shoe .
I stirred the bats up but there didn't seem as many as last time. Looking above I spotted the hide. A convenient retrieval item was found nearby and soon had the CIH. TFTC ISB001 and a favourite for great design.

I have a cache or two that uses the same mechanism, so of cause I loved it. The bats didn't appreciate my presence and flapped about while I was at GZ, I was just grateful that they didn't poo on me!
Yeah! you get a favorite from me too!! Not sure about the bats flying round and round above my head. TFTC
I will admit, searching around with bats flying and screeching above me was unsettling for a bit of a wimp like me but the cache was in a great spot and very interesting way to retrieve the container! TFTC
Love it! The bats were deafening and showered us with bits of tree- really made for a unique atmosphere. Found the cache fairly quickly. Coordinates spot on.- Cache very fitting for the area. Love the construction and the extra effort needed to retrieve it. Very clever and worthy of a favourite point from us. Thanks
Loved this Cache...
I dropped off my kids, and decided to grab this Cache on my way home.. So glad I did.

Nice cache location with lots of wildlife company. Clever setup, I really enjoyed this one, thank you.
So many bats! So much bat poo on our shoes too haha! Nice hide, have only come across a couple like this before. TFTC

So... awesome cache straight up. They really do go bats--- when you walk into the area!! Genius design, i havent seen one of these before. Well done!!
This was a great cache, one of the best contraptions agent muffin master and I have come across. It took awhile to find the location as our phones were not working properly but we found it. Unique hiding method. Tftc!
After finding many batty cashes up in Queensland I decided to give this one a go. It was silent while walking up the path, but as soon as I took my first step into the bush the bats started their screeching. I think I spent more time watching out for their bombs than I did the cache.
Thanks for the cache.

It has been more than three months since my first attempt here, and the shoes that I was wearing still have bat poop on them. I've been tempted to put this one on my ignore list; it sure is the longest a cache so close to home has been unfounded by me.
Learning my lessons from last time, I left Juno at home and wore shoes that I was ready to throw out. In rainy weather the bats barely made a noise, clearly they were otherwise occupied with keeping dry.
A quick find was made, an interesting variation on a method that I've seen deployed before. In the growing rain I made it back to the car, where I took off my shoes and confirmed that, as expected, they could be placed in the bin.
Cheers

We love bats. We use to be wildlife carers and have looked after many flying foxes over the past few years. Don't be scared of the bats they won't hurt you. If you come across one on the ground it is probably injured or a baby. Call Wires on 1300094737. Thanks to the cacher who marked the path with pink tape
Went on an adventure with pmhowes. Dude this was definitely an adventure. Wow! So cool!
Found with Hillster on our way down for the Pi-day event.
Could tell the bats were quite irritated that we were there, they got noisier as we walked in.
Loved the container set up.

Needing only 1 cache so I can use the upcoming event as my milestone I headed out here to like for batman. Knowing the area had me a little cautious as I've read a lot about these nocturnal creatures so I entered the area with caution but soon had the cache in hand and the nifty retrieval was worked out.
With my name added to the log it was time to retreat from Gotham City... Thanks

The Rats and I teamed up this afternoon to tackle this one. Some trepidation with the past logs- the bats were in fine voice today and plenty of guano around the place but not too far off the concrete so not too bad. We parked at Hungry Jacks, went across, up then in and before too long The Rats spotted the cache- after it took a minute or few to work out what we needed the clever cache was sorted and we signed the log before returning home to disinfect! TFTC!
