Didn’t find I crawled through all the trees and ripped up so much dead pine!! I found the Christmas tree and the tree behind to the right that was a little higher up but no cache I looked under the Christmas tree and under the tree directly behind it!!
EITH really hard or it’s not there

Easy find. Hopefully encouraging my boys to want to search for the other South Arm hides.
Thanks for the cache DDTs, been on my to do list for way too long. Another quick find quick find, all good at GZ, but the dwizzle has upgraded to rain, so it's starting to become a little pleasant. Still a couple of surfers out there waiting for the right wave, brrrrr!
After dropping KingSmev off at Orana earlier this morning, I'm now cleaning up some un-founds in the South Arm area.
Thanks for the adventure.
Cheers, EPs.

#877, 2021-07-11 at 12:32, TFTC. Clue might need an update but coords are pretty good.
Today we decided to cache in this area and revist a few more places on a great day. We headed along the beach collecting caches along the way.
Cache and contents were in good condition.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache for our enjoyment.

Wanting to grab the 4 hides along this beach and do some much needed exercise in the way of 'Resistance Training' [Sand Walking] ha ha, it was decided to start this end first then make my way east.
A bit of a search around for the container then it was discovered by feel

Hi DDTs well as you know this 2014 hide of your Xmas series has given me a lot of frustration over the past twelve months or so and of course it was never your intention to make them hard to find. Just couldn't locate this buried cache although now having found it thanks to a recent log by Westyclan I was so close to finding it, in the right area just didnt look that far out from the tree. Thanks for all your Xmas hides I am up to date on them now and thanks again to Westyclan for the Xmas decoration, I am sure it will help future finders..
Decided to do this end of the beach first and headed in from the beach. Found what we think is now decorationless tree and began our search with no luck. Decided to give up and do other end of beach. Not content to leave this as a DNF we headed back using recommend track route this time. Brought us to the same decoration less tree and we began search again. Without realizing it I crawled over cache trying to get to tree base - fortunately Donald had his eyes open and dug cache from underneath its thick bed of pine needles. We have used a decoration from cache to assist future cachers. TFTC
Nice view and walk on sand to GZ..
looked around for 30mins , signed in with good dry TFTC

Lovely day for a walk. Lots of Xmas decorations in the cache. TNLN. Thanks for the inspiration to get out on this glorious day.
A nice walk along the beach this afternoon grabbing a few caches. TFTC!

Found lots of special treats in this cache. Our pen wouldn’t work so we couldn’t sign it.
Took a while, I read it as behind you to your right, not behind you, to your right, but got there eventually.

Nice walk along the sand dunes to GZ, where the cache was easily found. Not very often do we see Fir trees growing on dunes. TFTH
We were worried having seen the last logs but a bit of persistence and Mr bloopy had it. Right where we first thought. Bloopy kids loved the treasure and we left some more swaps. Cheers!
Today we headed to South Arm with Porkchop6977, for a bit of a pre-birthday caching expedition. We'd had a successful trip down there previously, but still had plenty more to find! In total we ended up finding eight traditional caches and one multi-cache, with one DNF (this cache).
After picking up a few caches around Opossum Bay, we headed to Hope beach to pick up the caches in the dunes there. We elected to head to the furthest one first, then head to this one via "2012 Amongst the Fir Trees".
Arriving at the GZ we thought we had a pretty good idea what we were looking for (we've done several in the series previously), but unfortunately we didn't have much luck with this one. To begin with, our GPSr had a bit of trouble settling for this one, and Porkchop's had him looking in a spot a good 10 metres from ours. Neither of us had any luck, so we widened the search and kept looking. The hint didn't prove to be much help (we couldn't find the landmark it mentioned, even though we knew what to look for), and a review of the satellite imagery of the area suggested a spot which turned up empty. We tried reviewing a few previous logs, but none of the hints we could glean there helped track down the cache.
In all, we spent probably 30 minutes trying to track it down, but with no luck.
Thanks, though, for bringing us to this beautiful spot! We're really hopeful that it's just a spot of cache blindness on our part, and that we'll be back to track it down again in the future!

With our GPs'r bouncing around all over the place we had difficulty finding this one, although having found 2012 Amongst the Fir Trees it would be worth a revisit to scratch around in the needles...something I should have done more of. Thanks DDT's for the series here and at Seven Mile.

Three days back we had an introduction to caching on Tasmania's South Arm. We couldn't resist returning today, drawn by the incredible scenery of the area and of course the interesting caches. It took us a while to get the hint instructions sorted. When we did a well stocked cache was uncovered.
Satellites today had our GZ 8 metres SSE of where we found the cache.
Thanks to 'DDTs' for placing this cache on the geo-gameboard.

Now with the experienced gained from the first I found this cache easily with TaurusSix.
Thought I would do a trip down this way today and get a few caches. Have only been down here a couple of times. So thanks giving me a reason to come explore. After a bit of searching found it. TFTC
out and about with the Rafas again, went from the path to the west first to get these two and then do the others last, amazing views on the beach, the tinsel had gone from the smaller Christmas tree so the instructions made little sense, TFTR TNLN log dry, moved some pine needles around and finally found he cache.
This one took alot of wandering and scratching around and then all of a sudden from a different angle there it was. Nearly gave up but glad we persisted
The surf was pounding the beach today
Even the local surfers turned up took a loooong look at conditions,
and went elsewhere [:o]
I dared to head along the beach to reach this cache
I almost got wet feet a couple of times
At GZ and the tinsel has well and truly worn off this Christmas tree.
So a bit of scratching around was required to find this cache.
Which happened rather quickly

Having started this series in the middle (at 2013 amongst the fir trees) I wasn’t hopeful I’d be able to find the 2 marked as DNF. I spent quite a bit of time searching for 2013 and even needed a bit of a break before uncovering it. When I headed to this cache I tackled this one differently and learnt from my mistakes from 2013 and uncovered this one pretty quickly. What a great series! TFTC.
Hi there DDTs.
This is the 1st of 2 caches we didn't find today. [:(!]
We spent quite some time here at around 12:28:00 PM. We checked every tree in a 15m radius, but we just couldn't locate your cache, so here's a DNF from us.
Regards
Ian and Penny

Lovely day for a walk on the beach. Saw a few yachts coming in from Sydney.

Out today with Redink and its very good to be able to put a smily in for this one.TFTC
As always, a great view and a decent sized, well hidden cache - this beach is always so deserted, but lovely just the same !
Thanks for the cache, DDTs !

Thankyou for the find.. a beautiful boxing day afternoon spent looking for caches.. with geo husband and nieces
Ok the date for this one is a little off. Unsure of the true date for the visit. Often visit this beach when we come down the arm. Once even came across a wedding party on the beach. Great spot to see a large number of yachts from the Sydney to Hobart coming up the river.

While down on the arm today this was our second target, again being a cache that I haven't had time to do when I have come down this way in the past.
It was a nice walk along the shore to ground zero and then the fun started with both of the rats searching high and low for ages until we had a stop and a thing to make sure we were looking in the correct places and what do you know a minute later I had the very well hidden container in hand.
Soon added my name to the log, the cache is in good condition and I re-hid it as I found it.
Thanks for the cache.

It was the GeoGSP's first birthday today, so it was only fitting that we go for a walk along a beautiful beach. After a successful find by BabySpinach, thought it was time to head back and have another look for this cache - and sure enough, after a bit more persistence, the cache was revealed. The cache is still in really good condition and is well stocked, and christmas is coming....thanks for the cache DDTs, a favourite from me, because it's such a beautiful place, and these christmas caches are so well stocked, anyone with kids should bring them down to this beach for a hunt.
Such a gorgeous spot! Found it after quite a hard look - but the cache is definitely still there!
There was a huge swell off the beach today which was quite spectacular to watch, and the huge waves meant keeping to the top of the dunes. This cache did not reveal itself today despite quite a long search by myself and the geodog. As the afternoon was drawing to a close decided to start heading home - still a few to search for in this area so will check again next time we are in the area.
No luck for us today. We spent ages searching but could not find the cache. Thanks anyway for bringing us back to this spectacular location.
We were surprised to find more of this series of caches and once again we weren't disappointed with them. After the six km walk yesterday to the other two I felt a bit like a glutton for punishment going for these but it was worth it. Great caches in great places! Once again we switched between walking on the beach and walking through the dunes. Geopooch had a ball again. She's small and supposed to be an "apartment " dog but she managed these with no problems Both she and hubby and I are going to sleep very well tonight Beautiful views here again. Thank you for bringing us here and thanks for your great caches Fav point given for this one too
We're on the way south again to visit and say goodbye to our family as we've now got less than two weeks left of our six month stay from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney. We've been touring in the caravan and also visiting with our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley
We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and I for one don't want to go home!

Looked at the spot the GPS indicated and poked about but without success.
It had been several months since we had been out for a day caching and we chose South Arm as the venue. Peter thought to view the Australian geocaching site and this added a few extras to look for.
I found it relatively quickly. I took a while to make sense of this hint. That was probably because the Christmas decorations are long gone.
A hot day in Hobart but we decided to gather some of the more local caches near water and improve the smiley nature of our "local" area a little more. Having found the others in the series we decided to complete the current set. Hot and sandy but pleasant views as we walked towards GZ. Found the right tree first time but did not locate cache. Tried several places then returned to first location to find the elusive cache.

Left geo van at sth arm rsl and went exploring. Found this beautiful beach. Quiet and lonely. Eventually found the tree. Merry christmas. Even took photo of christmas themed geo coin. Will upload soon. Thanks for the hide.
Searched all around. Too blind to even see Christmas decorations at gz. Hoping it's still intact but not for me today
We took advantage of a gorgeous sunny winters day in Hobart and did some caching.
Decided to do the 4 caches on this beach. Have never been here before, it is a beautiful beach but boy the sand is hard to walk on, it's not even firm down near the water line.I think we will be a bit stiff tomorrow:D The geopup however, loved having a run while we walked.
Took us a little while to find this one as I ended up finding it in a spot geohubby had already looked in..I think he had a boy look haha!
I keen surfer arrived as we were heading back down the beach.

Took elderly Dad out for what is becoming a theme. He loves the caches and these ones are just strenuous enough for an 88 yo! Hopefully he'll be able to do many more of these Christmas ones! The surf was working so there were lots of muggles around. Luckily they were either in the water or watching those in the water.
Took the mini screwdrivers and left a silver charm. Thanks DDTs. I love taking Dad out for these caches.

A good afternoon for a stroll in the sand dunes. The only other people about were walking their dogs on the beach. TFTC
I thought I had already done this cache but seeing hw I was already in the area, I thought I'd drop by just to make sure.
Turns out I didn't. i found an earlier incarnation of this theme.
Took me a while but I found it after about 15 minutes - it was well camoed.
TNLN, thanks DDTs for the cache

Completed this one on our beach stroll today too. No trace of the decorations left. Cache was well hidden from view, but the coords were spot on so a short search uncovered it.
I love waking along this beach, it's become one of my favorite spots for a quiet contemplative stroll of late. Beautiful beach, nice views, and most of the time you have the beach to yourself. TFTC.

Staying at opossum bay for the long weekend and figured it was time to grab some of the local caches we've not found on previous visits.
A cool and windy day found the beach deserted, although there were other cars in the car park.
Geokid loved the walk and spent most of the way there and back running up and tumbling down the sand dunes.
Arrived at GZ and geokid made the find, took christmas hanger and left a bendy pencil (I think, we had a few swaps with us and I'm not 100% sure which he put in each cache!)
Also took pixie TB which I'll move onto another cache shortly.
TFTC DDTs. Love the christmas theme and the 2013 tree still has decorations on it!

Hi DDTs
As usual, this cache lived up to the reputation associated with the Fir Tree Series.
Windy and overcast here today but no rain, which was a blessing after the past two days.
Enjoyed the walk and the fresh air - thank you.
Sainted the cache at 1038hrs on the way back to the Huon from the Peninsula.
TFTC and cheers

Today we had the pleasure of combining forces with elcato for some caching on the Eastern Shore. We had an enjoyable time catching up and caching. As elcato had not experienced the great "Amongst The Fir Tree" caches, we headed down to South Arm for our last caching walk for the day. It was pleasant down at the beach but we were surprised that the beach was deserted. After a short walk we came across the 2013 version and after a short hunt, elcato found the cache. Then we headed off to the 2014 version and it wasn't long before we came across a very well decorated tree. The hint was then very useful as we made a quick find of a very well stocked and appropriately themed cache. the cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks DDTs for another annual Christmas treat.
We headed down to find the Christmas tree and cache in good condition, despite the weather and strong winds that had passed through earlier in the day. We only get rained upon a little bit, but a quality cache like this made it worthwhile.
What a beautiful beach with great views. The afternoon down here was perfect the sun shinning, waves rolling in and at one point I had the entire beach to myself. I have never been to this beach before. a quick find, loved the contents. Thanks DDTs for the cache.
While the ham was in the oven, Maddie and I went for an outing to find this cache. Once again, a good sized, well hidden, well stocked cache. It was very nice to see the decorated tree while strolling along the beach. While I was logging, Maddie sat under the cache tree. In fact, she was getting right into the rest mode, so I had to sit down again for a while... and then some. The only logs I noticed were ww and gooseandegg although I don't think that I looked at the back of the logbook, and that's a mistake easily made too.
Thanks for a terrific Christmas cache, DDTs. Happy Christmas.
Thanks for a terrific Christmas cache, DDTs. Happy Christmas.
This is the one we came for, 2013 was just a bonus! Despite 3 listed finds there was only 1 written in the log book (WW). The kids loved finding this one and wanted to add some decorations to the tree! We took the track but headed down to the beach after the find to check out a big roller??? Merry Christmas. TFTC
*FTF* at 1525. A nice walk to GZ along a windswept beach but a wet walk out as the rain came down. A well stocked cache and a beautifully decorated Xmas tree. TN, left pathtag. Thanks DDTs and Merry Christmas.
