Hopefully good to go, will try and get up to do a check soon but the forest area should be re-opened now.
From the Southland District Council:
We will be closing roads through the Dunsdale Recreation Reserve and Hokonui Forest Conservation Area for the purpose of tree harvesting from tomorrow, 1 May 2023 – 30 September 2023.
This will mean the gate leading up to the Dunsdale forestry road will be closed and there will be no public entry into the Dunsdale Recreation Reserve and the Hokonui Forest Conservation Area.
We apologise for the disruption to normal access to these reserves.

A trip into Dunsdale with work this afternoon gave Deane the chance to find this cache today. A few people setting up camp for the weekend but a quick grab was easy enough. This is a great spot and we will have to come back and grab the rest of the caches on another day. TFTC
As far as we are aware, the Dunsdale forest is now open. We will try and get up there to check on these caches before Christmas.
The Southland District Council have advised the logging has been extended and the Dunsdale Forest area won't be reopened until November. Will re-enable the caches once it has opened again.
From Southland District Council
'From 1 May 2022 until 30 September, the gate leading up to Dunsdale forestry road will be closed. There will be no public entry into the Dunsdale Reserve/Hokonui Forest Area due to tree harvesting in Dunsdale forest. Everyone will be welcomed back in the spring time.'
Therefore we will be disabling our caches in here until it is reopened.
Cheers

Today's plane was tovisit two Reserves out from Gore plus any others that might get in the way.
So it was off to the Dunsdale Reserve and for a we walk, well 4km anyway.
Cheers for the cache.

I tried to find this before but logging operations had closed the road. All good today. Tftc
Found it this time round I'm sure I looked there last time thanks for bringing me to this beautiful place tftc.
Great winters day out (after the frost and fog lifted) caching with Tania and puppas, who thoroughly enjoyed their romp together. Lovely bush walk, am amazed by all the hidden gems found around Southland thanks for bringing us here. Bit a a hunt on all fours but spotted fairly quickly, cache all good tftc
Cache 109 A lovely trip up to Dunsdale with Wombats and the geo pups with the plan of hitting all the caches in the area this was cache 1
After a bit of crawling round the cache was soon spotted and signed, Rock bug added to cache T4TC

Saw the cluster on the map so came for a look. Glad not windy judging by number of recent tree falls on the road in, only cleared enough to get through.
Looking forward to walk.

Stopped in to check this, all good. Many thanks to AnnieLin for replacing this one when we were unable to get in here.
I dud the hard work to nab thus one But we got there in the end and soon sign the log Found with annielin and downsouthinv.Tftc
After an early finish at work today we decided to have a better look at this one.
With gumboots and wet weather gear on as I had been out in it all day, getting wetter was not really going to be a problem.
So at gz under I went with a torch and had a really good look.... with no luck.
Meanwhile annielin had a good look around the area and as we worked a grid type pattern the remains of what we believe to be the remains of the cache.
So back to the cache mobile and the cache was put back together again.... Better outcome than humpty dumpty...
Re hid the cache at likely hiding spot.
Now back to the cache mobile and with heater on full homeward bound.
Hope the fire is still going .
I am looking forward to a hot shower and a seat in front of the fire.
Messaged co about cache.
Thanks for the hide

Early mark today.
Decided to head back to have another look. Despite the horrendous weather we'd been having.
We were prepared with the most waterproof footwear and clothing, so why not.
Got to the approved area, and while dsi squeezed under to see what could be seen,I looked and looked and looked again in likely spots.
After methodically searching, only thing that raised a squeak of excitement was what might have been part of the missing container....
So back to the truck, made a new container and back to the gz.
Off home to dry out and sit by the fire.
Hopefully this one survives the winter. Message sent to CO

Beautiful day for a stroll tried to find on return to car got down on hands and knees but to difficult to get under under ok if you are a younger person.
Not immediately visible today, however after I summoned my inner troll, I soon had the cache in hand (and spideys in my hair... eeeekkkk)
A nice afternoon to get out and about, also on a fitbit challenge with others. Been putting off this bunch, but as we are fast running out of caches close by, today was the day. I had saved for offline use, but couldn't read descriptions or clues, used our instincts and found quickly.
With the recent rain it was a bit of a struggle to get to and keep clean at the same time.
Another hot day in Southland, so it's off to the busier places for a walk and a few caches.
Parked the car, just one muggle family here today, got the gear sorted, checked the onside map and set off. Remembered to check to see where the first one was. 15m. Crossed Bridge, took off the backpack and scrambled for the find.
All in good order. May have been wet in the past (someone has written 'wet cache' on the container) but all dry inside and out today. So no flooding here over the winter.
Thanks for the smilie.

Nice drive and walk with the family. Retreated without any issues bit of an expected crawl ground dry. Tftc.
Got myself covered in mud here. One should be quite careful not slipping to the current while entering the cache location. TFTC.
Took Mum on a walk this afternoon and happened to collect a few caches along the way... Got a bit dirty grabbing this one. TFTC!
Was no easy way to grab this wee box. Managed to squeeze under without slipping down the bank and maneuvered around to SL one of the logbooks. Popped cache back under rock and escaped the hide none too muddy. TFTC
TFTC - never new about this beautiful spot until today - definitely worth a visit - thanks for placing one out here so I would visit
Good job we had a skinny child to climb under there! There was no way we were going to be able to reach it. TFTC
[A revisit. Box was missing, replaced with extra found at Forks flat. Cache now 200ml Sistema. Log intact, marked Dunsdale.] Under a rock.
Thanks to Lions vs Lambs for replacing this one, not sure what on earth has been happening since we last checked these caches a month ago but 3 out of the 4 were not where we originally placed them. Strange.
Checked on today.
Checked on today.
Nice flat walk - good to find an easy one after heading up Grants Knob earlier in the day. TFTC
On our way back from the Hump, taking the opportunity to explore another of those small reserves Southland does so well. And the caches kindly placed to make the walk even more enjoyable! We had a picnic lunch then off for a wander. This one is definitely not a 1 1/2 terrain - it requires lying down and wriggling but eventually got there.
Lovely day for a walk and picnic, on our return we meet up with Mr and Mrs Pipedream and Mr and Mrs JinmyCricket. Stunning walk and picnic area, will return, Logged find with Granville86a
