We are on a trip in New Zealand. A wonderful country with a lot of (old )caches. There are too many caches so we limit ourselves to the (old) gems or where we happen to make a stop. We found and signed this cache in good condition. G-2's Bodyguard, thank you for this cache, regards xizat-NL. Take care, this hobby can develop to an addiction.

TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 1 - We picked up our hire car from Auckland Airport and headed immediately South then East in the general direction of the Coromandel Peninsula collecting caches at intervals along the way. Before we did though we picked up the virtual cache in the International Arrivals Terminal. We particularly liked elements of the Hauraki Rail Trail , Thames and the drive across to the far side of the Peninsula.

This was our eleventh cache find of the day . Excellent place for a geocache and an interesting memorial. Almost a drive by. Thanks for the cache G-2’s Bodyguard

Great to have a nice big car park to pull over with the Jeep and trailer! Going away on holiday so it was a great start to pick up this cache. TFTC

07-Feb-22
Was a traffic crawl of epic proportions to here so pulled over for a cheeky stop. After a thorough search at GZ, there was nothing to be found so added a replacement exactly as per hint. I even checked up the bank but nada.

It's head back home today and the weather forecast isn't too flash again with heavy rain forecast for most of the day. I'd done a temporary repair on the underside of my car with duck tape (lol) to keep the stone shield up off the road but the damp meant it didn't last as well as on the way up on Friday. The traffic was a crawl all the way to Thames, then slight improvement, then a crawl to SH1 junction. About 4 hours plus to get home, mrs c was back only 15 minutes before me and I stopped for 7 cache sin my car! Glad I took the side road past the castle at Mangitangi golf course to cut out a swathe of queueing.

I have got a busy few days coming up, and am heading north to the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend with a work holiday home booked for this upcoming long weekend, including stat day on Monday. Then I'm heading home with mrs c for a couple of days leave followed by a couple of days WFH before heading back to Manawatu and my new work area at the weekend. Not massive numbers of cache finds but a few to keep things ticking over and a surprising amount by Auckland based COs too! Thanks to all cache owners for their contributions.

#9679. I have been at a conference in Thames for the past 2 days. Its now Queens Birthday Monday and I have a chance to pick up a few caches around the Coromandel. Problem is the rain has arrived and its quite heavy at times. Overall however I managed to find quite a few caches in the gaps between the rain showers. Good parking here and the rain had stopped briefly. Nice quick find by my muggle friend who is a dab hand at finding geocaches. Signed the logbook and replaced the cache where found. Thanks G-2's Bodyguard for hiding it here.

07-Jun-21

Headed down this way today, to walk the nearby trail with a group training for the Tongariro Crossing later in February...... Many of the group had already located this one on previous trips to the area, so we logged in here on our own.....

Cache was all good.

TFTC.

Headed down here with the Team SEAC crew to attempt the near by Kaitarakihi Summit Track.

Thought NZTravellers already had this cache so when following Stik-a-crane here in the morning never thought to jump out and sign the log.

Once finished the Kaitarakihi Summit Track walk I noticed this cache was 700 meters down the road and then had to endure the ribbing of the rest of the crew teasing me as to why I hadn't signed this morning.

As I was driving the guys had little choice but to suffer (yeah right a 2 minute side excursion ISNT suffering) for me to backtrack make a quick find and carry on.

Thank goodness this wasn't one of G-2's higher rated caches.

TFTC and bringing us here TWICE in one day

30-Jan-21
A quick stop off on our day trip to Whangamata.
We've passed here often but never noticed this plaque before.
There was a lot of traffic on the road due to Auckland Anniversary weekend but we managed to conceal our activities with the car and were pleased to make a quick find.
TFTC.

We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.

I had a fall on day two of our holiday, while out geocaching which has resulted in a fractured bone in my leg and I am in a moon boot and with crutches and I was told to keep weight off my leg. So I am only limited use when it comes to our trip now. I tend to stay in the campervan and just hand out suggestions of when and where GK should search.

We stop every now and then when there is good parking just so that we can get a yellow smiley on our map. This way we can revisit our travels and know which roads we travelled.
This was one of those caches, it was a nice easy find at a fitting memorial for the man who worked to get the road made.

Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Out and about for a few days for a bit of a road trip around the Coromandel area. Day Five of my road trip. I started my travels in Tairua and ended my day in Nelson via Auckland on my way home for four weeks of pandemic lockdown Surprised Had to cut my trip short after the recent developments so this could be my last chance for some caching for a while. Once I found CJ, the cache was quickly found. TFTC, Biggles.

This was a quick easy find. Thanks for the cache.
During our three week trip to New Zealand and Australia my wife and I visited an active volcanic area, a glacier, a deserts, several rain forests, and the great barrier reef. We had a great time visiting both beautiful countries and getting out into nature every time we had the chance. We spent time in Auckland, the Coromandel Peninsula, Rotorua, Queenstown, Sydney, Uluru, and Cairns. We would like to thank all of the cache owners for placing and maintaining these caches and for taking us to some of the more out of the way places.

C.J.W Parsons Esq was known to the 300+ (mainly male) staff at the Ministry of Works District Office in Dey Street, Hamilton as Cas Parsons. We both have fond memories of working there whilst Cas was the D.C.W. To Cas jfs was "that girl in Civil" - being the first female to be employed in the Civil Engineer department.

First day in Neuseeland and fix und fertig, da für uns heute ja nachts ist. Aber hilft ja nichts, wenn man zwei Stunden zur Unterkunft durch den Linksverkehr muss und auf dem Weg einige Caches liegen. Wink Alle Caches mehr oder weniger schnell und gut gefunden. Smile

Heading home, but still picking up a few caches here and there where I can safely pull over. When I did pull over I fell asleep in the warm sun and dozed off for about an hour! Must have been tired... then I realised what I was parked there for and went and found the cache all nicely hidden. Good ol' C.J eh!

I was almost reluctant to stop at this lookout spot on our drive back to AKL because on the way here to The Coromandel I didn't see anything but trees. However, we stopped and realised it was a 5 min trail walk to the lookout point. Pretty nice

As this was an unexpected stop, I didn't check earlier if there were any caches or not and there wasn't any service in the parking lot. However, there was just enough service at the top of the lookout to quickly check and to my joy, there was this ultra simple one.

Smiley face in the middle of nowhere Smile haha.

During our holiday in New Zealand we have visited both the North and the South Island. We saw a lot of highlights of this beautiful country, but there is so much more to see. So many highlights, so many caches! The geocaches showed us a lot of special and interesting places. Sometimes a quick find, sometimes we had to search longer. A few DNF's, but that doesn't matter. We loved New Zealand and we hope to come back some day!

Today we have found the cache "Tribute to CJ !".

G_2sTimeout, thanks for creating and maintaining this cache!

Greetings from the Netherlands,

Today we drive from Matakohe to Whitange and it takes almost the whole day to get there with our campervan. A short break on this point made us find this cache.
TFTC from Holland!

25-Jan-19
On the way to Whitianga for a quick visit. My earlier detours to avoid the traffic had worked but there was no avoiding it now! Was most of Auckland heading to Coromandel? Decided to pull over here and watch some crazy drivers doing interesting passing techniques and motorhomes not letting people get by. Had a nice rest, read the plaque and found the cache. Thanks for the hide and the welcome excuse to get off the road

We found the cache "Tribute to CJ !" during our road trip through New Zealand. We started in December 2018 at Auckland and we'll travel with our campervan to the very south. The landscape and nature is overwhelming Smile. It's always a lot of fun and a great adventure to go for this hobby in our vacation too Smile. Thanks to the Owner "G-2's Bodyguard" who placed the cache and his maintenance in the future!!!

At this place of the log, I would like to put all the best regards from Aalen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany in this cache as well [^].
