Finding the cache was easy enough... now sitting in my car writing the log while waiting for all the traffic to disappear! Thanks a lot.
Having a long weekend and decided to head up to Christchurch to meet friends. The rest of the weekend was spent geocaching, grabbing many of the puzzles solved during lockdown.
This was my last day up and so decided to drive around some back roads to grab caches before heading south and home.
All good.

[NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) is definitely happening, but has been postponed until 2021. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 22 to 25 October 2021. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20+ years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20+ years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* All the 20s and now 21 as well!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](http://nzmega.com) - you won't want to miss it!

After washout weather 4 years ago on the 29th February we have been keen to greatly increase our Leap Day Finds tally in 2020. To that end we made sure we were in Canterbury ready for some quick puzzle trails this morning, and determined to cache all day. We made short work of the Smurfs, then moved on towards Rollerston to find a few trads. This was our 50th find of the day, and time to move out into the countryside again. A quick find here, thanks.

Find #7 of 8 today (from 10 attempts).
I'd finished my early shift at work a bit early, Mrs Rincewind was also working, and R jr had driven to Ashburton to visit her Nana. What's a cacher to do?
An easy find here, the cache is in good shape and the log nice and dry.

This morning I decided to go out and find a few of the Metal Mania series plus ant trads that get in the way.
A trad that got in the way.
This one is only 51m away from a final of one of the Metal Mania series. How did that slip through the reviewers fingers?
Cheers for the cache.

In Christchurch for the weekend and a wee detour to Lincoln before heading home to get a couple of caches. A nice quick find here TFTC
An interesting trip to find these, and the Glossary of Geocaching ones. All, were solved and once you have sighted one container it's all on. There were a couple of DNFs and some good Spring growth but plenty of finds too. T F T C all COs
It's that time of year again when Marlborough residents get a double bubble, two 3-day weekends in a row and a chance to get out there and find some caches. Last weekend I headed over to Golden Bay with ricardinho and we managed a healthy numbers-boosting haul of 82 over 2 days. This weekend I'm planning on finding some already solved Canterbury caches and get me closer to a 5 figure finds number. At the start of today this was a 4 day, at the end it was a 127-day!!
The Saturday was planned to be a big day and to get over 100 caches in a day if possible and start converting those puzzle pieces into smiley faces. Success was achieved in that we found over 120 each. I personally found my missing Smurfs, Metal Mania, Glossary of Geocaching as well as a number of other solves and collateral Traditionals. The Canterbury weather turned it on and a good day was had with ric.nz driving and me navigating (sort of) Apologies for cut and paste but will add detail where remembered.

Being a long weekend in Marlborough I decided it was time to pop down and see the family in Chch. Last chance before Xmas for that.
But with Sunday family day that made Saturday caching day, and with Capperz also in town we teamed up to find a whole heap of solved mystery caches in the general Ellesmere area.
Close to 130 for the day by the time the dust settled. All logs signed Cap/ric or variations on the theme.
A long, hot day but a fruitful one, thanks all COs and sorry for the cut and paste.

Been here before, cache was lost, but now replaced! A quick park&grab while on a MetalMania tour. It is very curious of how this cache managed to get published being closer than the 161m to another one...
P.S. Paldies, Arvīd!

Great day in Christchruch Area grabbing a few caches, started out wet, but day was not to bad in the end. Thanks Bitsprayer
Regarding non response from CO, I had contacted sosdd who confirmed cache location and also existing issue with a half a meter soil on top of original container.
Based on this, we decided to replace container with a new one in original place.
Hint: Second post, Under stone.

Nice and quick park and grab, however the cache is a bit banged up but is still nestled in its little hidey hole.
No idea what it was supposed to be. Had a good hunt around and lots of litter but no luck.
Was feeling a little disheartened when I arrived at GZ to see the string of DNF's however its still there. A little worse for wear and very hard to open but definitely still here .
DNF
Very open place, traffic coming past from all directions, didn't really feel comfortable searching for long. Still think I had a decent look around the objects fitting the hint.

I had to be near Rolleston for a work related workshop for a couple of hours in the morning, so I though I might as well turn the rest of the day into a fruitful geocaching adventure, so I did! I found a few first thing in the morning, and the majority in the afternoon. TFTC!!
Hard to believe that we could not find this cache last time in the area. Today with less traffic and a nice day without any rain it was an easy find. How we missed it before? No idea. TFTC
There we were looking quietly and all the world and his wife decided to drive past. Tftc
I typically don't read the cache descriptions until I'm logging but did click to the significance of the cache name later in the evening as we passed on of the road signs. Found several caches inn the Selwyn District on my many trips up and down the mainland. TFTC # 11,028
thanks for the placement, we have been loved travelling and visiting the roads of Christchurch and the many caches each CO has taken the time to place, thank you for taking the time to place and maintain them.
That makes interesting reading, thanks for that. We're really enjoying exploring the roads of rural Canterbury, picking up solved puzzles and other caches as we go. Thanks for this one !
There seemed to be no end of traffic at this intersection, finally a gap and we managed to make the find, sign and the log and replace - and we thought this was going to be a quiet back road. Found with debsnz
Out around the back of Rolleston and had to pull over. Accidentally opened the GC app and saw a cache nearby. Oh, time for a walk! I can see why the rusty comments are around but it's just the nature of using that type of container. Will need replacing at some point. Thank you!
This is probably a quiet junction although 10 cars passed as I was squatting for this one! TFTC
Out touring around the outskirts of Rolleston prior to attending the caching event to be held at a town park in 40 mins time. No problems with this cache. I could see no reason for the "Needs Maintenance" attribute.. The cache is perfectly fine, though as one would expect, getting a little rusty. Cheers.
Cache #2 of the family caching day. Have to be stealthy at the crossroads! Tftc
Stopped the night in Rolleston and today we are winding our way back to Christchurch. A glorious day and ready for some quick and easy finds to boost numbers. We hoping to get to CHCH to do some Wherigos but having looked them us we decided they would eat up time too much on this trip. Gonna grab the Virtual in central CHCH though. Thanks to all who placed these caches along the way. Love the fact its easy to pull off and park. Surprised the country roads are as busy as they are. Wish we could have stay a couple of weeks and not just four days. We will return! Easy find. TFTC
we were in the area picking up a few mystery caches, I know I sound like captain no-fun but this container has no place being located where it is. These are suited to urban hides, not rural locations with long grass and lots of water.
It was in plain sight, and is rusting shut... as to be expected.

On a mission to clean up unfound caches in the SW with 2 Wombles, 80ish for the day. Quick easy find having solved the puzzle some time ago. Thanks for the effort that goes into these caches.
Don't get out this way too often. Decided to head out this way for a day of caching with Surveybase. No problems locating this cache today. Thanks for the cache

Before I came to New Zealand, Lorok asked me to do some of the bigger mysterie serieses. I wasn't a lot into this idea, since I haven't had a lot of time. Just a view days after my eleventh visit to the Wacken open air I stumbled over the metal hand. Before I could say, I was into it. Solving puzzle with bands and singers I know so well. I did it nearly have way, just as far as time has allowed.
So this was the day to collect, what I've solved. In most cases it was quiet easy to get the cache, once we got used to the hide.
So far seen on this trip: Thailand and New Zealand.
TFTC from a geocacher on his journey through the world.
Danke!

After a semester abroad in New Zealand, I travel around the country with MMXX now. There are plenty of amazing spots to discover.
Thanks for placing a geocache here and sorry that I keep my logs short.

No work today so a rolleston road trip was on the cards. Taking a break from all the rugby stars. felt very exposed on the busy intersection until I put my Hi viz on an no one saw me did take longer than it should have lots of rubbish around gz tftc # 2700

I had a workshop to be attending in town in the evening, and so decided to go caching for a few hours before that - try knock off some of the angry birds, some of the metal mania, and other puzzles in the area that had been sitting on the solved pile for a while, or had been team solved! Haha. So stocked up the car with food, water, and clothes for any condition, and had an enjoyable few hours of finding about 55 caches - most I've done in a while!!
Getting a bit closer to my goal of having 80km from home within one pocket query - don't think I'l achieve that before baby, but getting closer at least!!

We had solved the new Glossary of Geocaching series last weekend and were keen to turn all the [?] into so headed south on a mainly puzzle collecting tour. We made the detour to a few M M puzzles too, which had been sorted since our last trip out this way.
We were pretty much passing by this trad on our puzzle collecting rampage so we had to stop and look for it. Canterbury has quite a few of these 5 plus intersections which makes for interesting cornering. Quick find for StreetWalker. TFTC.

#12713. It was worth making a short detour to pickup this trad at a multiway-intersection (there are a surprising number of them on the plains). TFTC.
