Seems post-HSC geo-son is too pre-occupied to maintain this so I am going to archive it. Sorry for the inconvenience everyone
Darn it, gone missing AGAIN! Geo hubby will have to make a more secure "holder"...sorry!!
Sorry for the very long delay. This and Stringybark Reserve are maintained by Geo-Son. just finished HSC so I have nagged him to get this done. Reserve will be enabled later this weekend!! Thank for your patience!
As asked by email privately a few weeks ago, is there any news on the maintenance of this cache?
I should have read the logs before I ventured here from Stringybark Quarry. Muggles about in houses nearby so gave it a DNF.
Found GZ but the cache was missing from its hook. Notified owners and logged the find. The CO mistakenly de-registered my log so here it i again
Made my way up from the quarry, and after reading previous logs and the hint I knew not to trust the arrow too much. There was a bit of water flowing after the recent rain but I had a bit of a look around. In the end I had to resort to the PAF trick, and just managed to get where I needed to be and then the cache was in hand quickly enough. A pleasant walk in and I discovered something I never knew about brush turkeys - they can fly! There was a huge flock of them around GZ including a number in the trees which I hadn't expected to see. Thanks leonieh.
Searched everywhere we could think of, including all of the creek. Disappointed in ourselves, hope it hasn't washed away with the recent rain.
A spare moment of time so a detour to a cache. Nice walk along the creek and there was plenty of signs the recent storms had overflowed the bank so we where no too sure about making a find. Both devices had us well off the track and just about in the neighbours property so we figured the south co ord was out and headed north a touch. A check on some other logs and we figured we had the right spot and once in the right position we spotted the hide.Managed to sign without falling in. TFTC
Hunted around, over and under with local rubbis and maintenance fella hanging around. The Garmin took me to the fence but the clue referred to the rivulet. Not today.
Many apologies for the tardiness in getting this back up and running. Geocache is back in place ready for the next find.
Any further news?
Comment was made by email a few weeks ago that this would be replaced soon.

Appears to have gone AWOL again. Will get Geo hubby and Geo son on to replacing ASAP! Sorry!!
Cache check required. Found the hidden plastic covered hook but nothing attached to it. I believe this to be juggled so will not log it as a DNF until CO verification, after all we did have some very heavy rains last weekend.
Oh no! What a lovely track but a bit of a fail here. We found a spot that matched the clue and then found an attachment marching a previous log entry but didn't see a cache. Maybe what we saw was a red herring and we should have looked harder as some of the other previous logs suggest!
Found on a lovely morning walk with LCCC and the geodog TFTC a lovely little scramble to the hide.
Yay, finally!!
Took the Gaztek approach and a bit of rock hopping was performed. Maybe, I took some logs quite literally but once down below I spied the hide.
Brought along an aerosol can of aero guard, and began my stay until CIH.
A good 15mins before I had my signature on the log, thanks leonieh

A Sunday afternoon walk brought us to Stringybark Creek. Started our walk at the west end. Struck out here on our way through eastward but studied logs and had a good think before the return visit. By hook or by crook we were determined to find this. Concentrated on the most likely GZ and with a bit of both of the previously mentioned approaches were able to nab it. After this morning's heavy downpours the creek was pretty calm. Didn't need to get our feet wet. Pretty important to replace as found or it won't be here long. Clever hide. Really enjoyed the walk, the improvement works for the bridge and track and the Bushcare efforts here. SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek
Checked by CO on 16th Feb ...still in location!! Cache is securely locked in with a "hook" and can't be washed away Keep looking!!
This visit, I had GZ confirmed but the level of debrie from the January flood indicates it was over the boardwalk and feel it was washed away with the flood.
A cache check needs to be performed as its not where a previous finder informed me on where to look, TFTH

Couldn't spot it this morning, planing to read past logs as I couldn't stay long and went on my merry way to work, thanks leonieh
Saw this one come back online so headed out this morning to grab it. GPS was all over the shop but cache located in logical spot. Nice walkway along here, cheers!
So sorry for the delay. When geo-hubby went back to put new one in today the old one had mysteriously returned! All back and ready for discovery. Be careful not to drop it in the creek and please put it back exactly where it was. Happy caching!
This cache has gone a long time without any changes to its status or even comment from its owner.
Time to go?
Time to go?
I had brought along a reluctant muggle friend to help, but he spent most of his time whinging that caching was a waste of time!
Not long after he left I found the cache and dropped it into the creek! So easy, yet so hard...

Found in the dark with spiders everywhere. Looks like the seal is broken but the log is in tact. I was scared of the spiders and of dropping it!
After the Quarry I returned to the car this way and counted down the metres. As others have said GPS reception is sketchy here and I wound up at a spot which was supposed to be a few metres from GZ and was aligned with the hint but I searched for a long time finding nothing and thinking the muggles in the house above must have been wondering. Three brush turkeys scratched away by the fence.
A TAF confirmed I was in the right sort of spot, but I worked it there was another similar within range. On changing spots the GPS now said I was a few metres from GZ but this time I made a quick find. Signed and replaced.
Thanks!

Yessssssssss
Even after a very specific hint from the CO I couldn't find it and was ready to throw in the towel. But since this was my 3rd visit here I was determined to find this elusive cache.
I had a new idea and had one last look. Found it! Very well hidden and not where I was expecting.
For some reason the GPS signal here tells me the cache is in someones backyard about 15m away, but it is actually in a pretty logical spot. TFTC!

Did Not Find with morry9 and the geo pup Squizzy. After success at Stringybark Quarry further up the creek, unfortunately we did not have luck here today but I hope to return in the near future!
Came back today to grab this. Parked, walked and trolled around GZ. Then looked in the right spot and BAM, made the find. SL and replaced. Finally, TFTC.
Geodog and I finally came back here to do this walk again and try for the cache again. This time, armed with some extra info from the CO it was quickly found.
Surprisingly I'd looked there both times I been here when the cache was first published. Obviously not well enough, due to the heavy rain and flowing creek. Oh well, "thems the breaks".
Success today, thanks leonieh.

Spent way too much time here.
Nice place for a cache would have been good to come away with a find though.

After finding "Stringybark Quarry" I wandered on to attempt this one. After a few minutes of fruitless searching, I dispensed with the GPSr, checked the hint and, not long after, spotted the well hidden cache. No sign of our eight-legged friend thankfully.
It's a difficult place, my GPSr was varying between 19 and 25 metres at GZ.
Nice hide, thanks again leonieh.

Geo-hubby has checked the cache...all in order and in original place...might need to increase the difficulty rating and add to the clue. Don't give up!!
Didn't find. Looks like a CO check is in order with 5 DNF's in a row. Checked up and below, but nothing.
Maybe it was washed away in the floods a few weeks ago, there is certainly ample evidence of some big water flows around here. Then again maybe I was off my caching game today.
I came back for a second look and hopped off the boardwalk casually. Some people down the track caught my attention mid jump and I ended up dislocating my ankle. I'll be back in a couple of months. I will not be defeated!
GPS took me well away from the river to the outskirts of somebodies backyard. I have a feeling that it isn't on private property so I might leave this for another day

With a milestone coming up I had picked a new D/T cache. But I still need one more first. Had considered a multi near the milestone, but having read the recent logs I wasn't confident I could find it. So decided to grab a traditional first, then the milestone, giving me the opportuntiy to flounder around on the multi if I had time.

As I was readying to go out to grab this, a new cache was published nearby. Hmmm, should I change my plans. About half way there the First to Find was claimed, so I reverted to my original plan.
Arrived at the park and followed the trail to GZ. What a pleasant little strip of nature shoehorned in between the houses on both sides - ie common sense not building right on the creek.
At GZ I started my search and after about 5 minutes I spotted both the cache and the cache guardian. Gingerly retrieved the cache - the spider didn't even twitch - and took a short distance to complete signing duties.
Replaced, Huntsman still in place and returned to The Hademobile.
Yes, I can see this would be a higher terrain after a bit of precipitation.
Now for the milestone...

I had to come back to find my closest unfound cache to home. I knew I had been in the right general area from all the logs, so left the GPSr and phone in the car. I first tried a few places while getting into position. Then as I approached another I came eyeball to 8 eyeballs with the ginormous aracnid - octoped - OK lets call it what it is, a huntsman.
Then I knew I was close! Looked around nervously and gingerly removed the container. No one moved. Except me who signed the log a safe distance away. Put it back with arm outstretched.
One piece of advice, I wouldn't feel around for this cache until you have spotted it!

Somehow managed to look in the right spot straightaway and from a dry position. A monstrous octoped was positioned menacingly nearby but didn't make a move. Thanks leonieh.
After success at the other end of the reserve, I came with quite some confidence. I think part of that confidence stemmed from the fact that I had read any of the previous logs Anyway, rocked up, and made an all but instant find! w00t!
Geodoggie enjoyed the walk. I hopped down and looked around in a few places but none of them revealed the cache. I am sure geodoggie won't mind coming back. See you next time.
Nice hide. Took a while. KRS's approach paid off but I didn't unshoe - I risked it and didn't end up with wet feet. The cache was however being guarded by something big and ugly of which I am not fond, and had to be moved on before making the grab. SL. TNLN TFTC.

Came back again today and spent an hour but no luck.
Even checked in the creek, which I hadn't planned on doing. The water was clear today thankfully.
Hope the cache hasn't washed away in this weeks rain. We did have > 100mm in this area.
Now that the rain has stopped and the water subsided I really am impressed by the improvements to this bushland area and walking track.

29/1/15. 2:00 PM. Cache #2211. Streak day #221. **FTF** Now that the sun's out, I've got a chance to start working on the avalanche of caches that were published on the 27th. The pair in Lane Cove were a good option, on my way home from the city.
I started with a find at "Hole in One", then came here. Refreshed the cache on my app to see that it still hadn't been found. I headed to GZ via the published trailhead; a large liquidambar has fallen during all the rain, and is across the boardwalk at one point - hopped over that and got to GZ. The signal is not the best here, so I did a fairly wide circle, but the hint had me focussing on one particular area and the satellite photo looked likely too. I headed down and looked in a few rocky places, trying hard not to get myself wet, or drop my phone in the process.
In the end, I decided to unshoe, and roll my shorts right up. so I could get into the creek and look around better. This paid off within a couple of minutes - made the find and confirmed a blank log. Very clever way of hiding one of these, heh heh. I'd say this type of container is normally called a micro, though. I took the TB to move along and then headed for home. No leeches, enjoyed the wade. Saw this last night & no finds so I got up at sparrows to try for it.
Only 2km from home & no longer raining here & I know the area being as a friend from high school lived beside this creek yonks ago.
First problem, the new puppy weed and pooped on the floor before I could get it outside so clean up the mess and off I go. Before I got there it was raining again but still I pressed on. Parked and walked to the track which was a bit wet but navigable but not far along a tree had fallen across the track. They've done a lot of improving to this track since I was last here. Climbed through the foliage and reached GZ.
Wow, its certainly flowing fast and has overflowed its banks. My memory is a little trickle of a creek.
Looked for about 20 mins, while the rain got heavier and heavier and heavier.
No luck, one last look - nope.
Back through the tree and now the track is flooded so I had to walk in the water and back to the car, absolutely saturated.
Sadly no cache but the good points - well my hair was dry (I had 2 hats on) and there were no leeches, probably got washed away, oh and no one else has logged a find so maybe I can come back later in the day, if it stops raining.

No!
We were chasing another FTF here and didn't see this published until we got back home.
Oh well someone else gets the fun here
