Sorry about this people, I checked on this today due to the DNF's, sure enough all the 'Bamby' has been uprooted and the cache, while never in the bamboo, has gone. I see a new house is being built here too!
Will replace the cache soon with a new name not too far away!! Keep your eyes peeled.

We are not sure if Bamby has got scared with the new construction happening here and bolted or if we just didn't search hard enough but we had no luck here today. We couldn't search for too long as there were a couple of people nearby checking out the cleared section.
left the transport at the bottom to go up for a look, as with the paster searcher this one eluded me.
As Janno216's 8-month stay in NZ was coming to an end he asked me whether I wanted to do a big day trip out to the Te Atatu Peninsula, and I as always interested in doing more caches decided to come along. After arriving we were quite skeptical about the whether the weather would hold and fortunately it did. We almost got 50 but sadly we got a flat battery and that consumed too much time. But very few DNF's helped. Thanks too all the CO's who placed the cache here. Nice and easy here before the muggles came.
My eight months stay in New Zealand is nearly over so I wanted to do one more big Geocaching tour in this great country! I asked thegreatauk wether he is interested in a big day trip - and of course he was. So we chose this day and made our way to Te Atatu Peninsula with our rental car.
We were a bit worried about the weather, but fortunately we only saw the dark clouds but just had a few drops and no strong rain.
Most of the Caches were easy to find for us, we only had a very few number of DNF's, so we reached our goal of 40 Caches without problems. Probably we also would have reached the fifty if we would not have had a flat battery… However,we enjoyed a great day with a lot of nice Caches!

Thegreatauk had the right eye here!

This was the first of the finds we made on our way around the esplanade with Tuolei and Bennett24 on a caching outing together. I did a bit of speculating on what the cache hide and spot would be based on the cache name and description but that just shows what I know.
I would have dived into a particular spot or two looking for a particular kind of hide but first took a look at a conventional hiding area and turns out that the cache was right there, which was a good thing as I didn't really fancy my first idea being right in any case.
All good and thanks for the cache.

Out with Tuolei for a dat of caching at Te Atatu, the beginning of a nice walk around the shore. Tuolei once again made a quick find here, although he was expecting something a little different. All good here, TFTC.
With the Hidden Creatures Souvenirs ending soon, and not much of a tally to my name so far one big push was going to be needed to get over the line. Cats&Dragons was is a similar boat, so after a quick scout of the maps Te Atutu, and the nearby motorway cycleway looked like just the ticket to get us both the numbers we needed.
A early start of 3am (this is getting more and more regular) from hamilton saw us starting the hunt just before 5am. The weather wasn't playing along at first as we had drizzle for the first hour or so, but it cleared up once the sun came up and stayed away right up to the point we headed for home. It turned out to be a very successful day with more than enough found to uncover all the Hidden Creatures.
We found a great varity of caches over the day, with some really great hides as well as one or two that were too good for us, or muggles had got them. I'll mention a few here and there that were extra memorable as I get to them, but unfortunetly I only have time for a cut and paste log for most. However a huge thanks to the CO's as the quality of caches were very high.

There was only one obvious spot for this one, but no sign of the cache anywhere around.
As the weather was lovely and sunny (but cold) we decided to head out to the Peninsula to make a start on the creature souviners. First stop for the day, and no problems here and a good idea for extra weather protection
After Mr NZT commented a few weeks back that I was in front of him in number of caches found this year he took great delight in going out caching with us for a day in an area where I already had quite a few and he didn’t. After that adventure I was still ahead by 10 but I noticed last night that he must have done some secret caching as he is 10 in the lead! This situation needs rectifying so with the geo-kids otherwise occupied I drafted a plan and what better spot to go to other than waring locals...they will be sympathetic to my plight...the chase is ON!!
Was a bit worried about the barbed wire but needn’t have been as access was easy to cache. Signed log with no disturbances and then took a look at the view.
Thanks for the cache.

Mummy's sick, so Daddy and the girls have come out for a big walk around the top of Te Atatu Peninsula. We parked at the top of this cut through, and set off. First find of our walk! Left TB. Thanks!
Decided for a rare trip into this war zone with the protection of local ally evilno9. Huffing up the stairs to get to the goods. TFTC
Overshot this one and had to go back a bit. Didn’t take too long to locate once at GZ. TFTC
Came for a stroll up the hill from the beach. Nicely hidden cache, quickly felt and in hand, cheers Gorby
Nice quick find after a short stroll along the coast line

This weekend it was a chance to start working my way though parts of west Auckland in the company of Mr McC (McCuthan Cache Clan) so the plan was hatched (infact it was a plan from a few weeks before that had been canned due to unforseen circumstances) So now it was a chance to make the most of it.
Caches were signed in generally with MCD (or some variation there off). So off we set nice and early so as to hopefully keep ahead of the bad weather along with the Auckland traffic (which at that time of the morning when we passed through on our way north was most reasonable.
All in all we manged approx 70+ caches and still made it back to Hamilton by 4.30pm which I suspect was a surprise to our respective families.
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

Out with Cats&Dragons on a late night - early morning cache run. Logs were signed MCCD but may have varied a bit as tiredness settled in. Thanks for placing this cache and giving us a reason to visit
Went on lunch break with a work buddy, an easy find when two people are looking together!
After a cursory look, I looked a bit farther and spotted the cache. Left: "Sevilla, Colombia" Unite for Diabetes Travel Bug. TFTC.
I have vague recollections that there used to be a cache here many moons ago. Anyhow, GZ revealed a stunning view and we quickly found the cache here albeit nicely tucked away. TFTC!
I have set myself a challenge for this year to have at least the same number of caches on each day of my calender as the number of years I have been caching.
This is the second one of two needed for today. I was out with my daughter and two grandkids today.
Cheers for the cache.

Quick find close to where my GPSr zeroed out. Logsheet was outside of the inner container for some reason, but it was dry. I signed and then replaced inside the inner container when resetting. Thanks for the cache!
Being a local I am trying to get through all of the peninsula ones. Mixed luck today however success with this one. A great spot here I come down annually for the mud run
Out and about with Mr 6 to pick up a few caches in Te Atutu which we had never been to before. I knew where to look from the title (very clever ) and a few minutes of searching came up fruitful TFTC!
YAS!!! Finally found it! Searched for so long first time we came here, but apparently we were in the wrong place!
My buddies cousin had to explain the tittle to us. Doh !! Found this one with his help. A few muggles out today but not a huge number because of the wind. These cache containers sure are great at keeping the log dry. TFTC
Had a hunch where it would be and bam there it was, nice quick find (: log is a bit damp but otherwise nice camo (: thank you
Déjà vu here and sure enough it is a cache we've searched for before. About to give up when we found it. Had SL and returned to hiding place when a neighbor came up the stairs. She asked first if there was a problem and when we said no she explained she lives behind. We showed her the cache and she said "ah" and carried on. We were glad we'd found it! NINO TFTC
A relatively quick find once I realized GPS had me facing wrong way, when I turned around, it was oh duh ! then cache was in hand, but trying to open it was a bigger problem !, TFTC
Nice fairly quick find tonight - found after a few minutes searching.
All in good order. SL TFTC

Nice one! Took it on the second look! Another one that should have been easier than it was!
It's good to be in a big group for this type of cache, we placed people at each bend to make sure no muggle was coming, TFTC
Il faut pouvoir surveiller les abords, heureusement nous sommes nombreux en famille. Tftc
Out today to finish the caches around the tip of the peninsula, which I started two weeks ago. last one for the afternoon. Very clever hide as usual. TFTC
Trust the GPS and you will be rewarded, wasn't in the more obvious place. TFTC

Doing some caches around the peninsula and this was the first in our list. we had some assumptions about the hide before reaching the GZ and we started our search accordingly. ahhhaaa we found an entirely different stuff.. and was so easy. thank you so much mike.

Out in the Peninsula for a caching mission - found a few caches today, but this one eluded us!
We'll have to come back for another hunt another day.

Couldn't find. To hot and bothered at the end of a long walk with little ones.
Surprisingly simple thanks. The middle daughter yelled yay when she heard it was another Gorby cache - they love his work!
Awesome day trip with dad around the peninsula!!
Quick and easy find once the GPS got its bearings

First find of the day. Out for a walk with nebulenz and Hughie_ with the little one in tow. Tftc.
Doing some caches around the peninsula a lot of them which appear to be Gorbys!
Parked close to GZ and wandered up the stairs. Cache was quickly found and it appears that we weren't the only ones with caching on the plan for today. There were already 3 signatures on the log for today!
Great day for it and the view wasn't bad either.

This was cache #7 on the journey.

I'm not sure why GPS doesn't work too well here, but found looked in the obvious places and found it without any problem. Handy staircase to sit at to sign the logbook. Impressed with both cache containers
#161 Out and about in Te Atatu. Geodad and Geokids trying to set a daily record. GPS going all over the place with this one. Eventually reasoned where it is likely to be, Geodad missing upon initial inspection, lucky Geogirl has more persistence. Nice little hide.

Counting down to our 900th find. Nice sunny day so perfect for a walk around the Te Atatu Peninsula shoreline. Needed to wait for some other path users to pass us by before making another quick find. 3 more finds to go
Have been here before, must be a replacement cache, but in a different spot! Like this spot better. tftc
What to do on a beautiful evening? look for a Gorby cache!
I had been here in April, but was not caching that day, this time convinced rebel98 that he needed to come and find these caches at the Point. Thankfully a quick find, after the huff n puff up the stairs. Cool camo, thanks for the adventure
