I am regretfully archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi happynappy8
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Didn't realise until we got here that the cache hasn't been in place for 7 months.
Please archive the cache so nobody else gets caught out.

This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.
Didn’t read that it had been taken for maintenance until we were already here! hopefully when it’s back we can snatch it up since we’ve got a pretty good idea where it is
In town for the boxing so decided to grab the local caches while I’m here. Nice quick easy find. Such a beautiful place. Blows me away that I had on idea that some of these places even existed. Love this hobby. Tftc
What a fun day. I am visiting Wanganui for the weekend (from Wellington) and took the opportunity to be the first finder of a cache here in Opunake today by driving up for the afternoon. It was such a stunning late autumn (or is it now early winter) long weekend Saturday, with the sun singing and the blue sky chirping, that I decided to hang around and collect all the other caches in town. So I did, and a successful day it was as all caches were found. This was one of them.
Had a bit of a struggle figuring out how to get to this one as Google wanted me to go down the road that said no entry, and didn't seem to know about the entry road. Got it figured out eventually. Great views, thanks for bringing me here.

Found during an enjoyable bike ride around the Opunake Loop Trail. It was lying rather exposed so covered better with some rocks. TFTC.
Me And Gradad Looked AND looked But No Geocache At Cords ,Grandad Has Done This One And It Is Not Where He Had Last Found It.Gone AWOL.
Yep lots of clothes and a remote. If you're heading towards Hawea you're lost. Slight off, just a bit.
Fantastic views

Great view, sadly lots of old clothes not far from the co-ords, but cache found in other direction. Wet log but still writeable. Tftc
We didn't stay long, as we noticed big clouds and rain to the North and South. Very easy find. We spotted it from the distance. Both the container and logbook were fine. Thanks!
A quick easy find thank goodness was cause it was very windy and the rain was staring. Great view though. Would be fantastic on a dine day. TFTC
Another great cache location can get quite windy tho but u get used to it as been here in past an was the same!!
On a road trip down the west coast of the north island. Exploring and finding some geocaches along the way. TFTC.
Today we traveled from Wanganui to New Plymouth picking up several caches along the way. This was a lovely lookout point to come out to, and obviously to find the cache! Great spot, TFTC
On the way from New Plymouth to the National Park has a break at the lookout and found the cache.
We didn’t realise how late it is getting so thought we better venture on to New Plymouth now but after seeing how close this lookout cache is we thought we’d take one more detour.
So many muggles at the site when we arrived but thankfully they soon moved on. After that it was a quick search and the log was hand.
Very breezy today but what a beautiful spot to be at. TFTC happynappy8!

We chose to camp here overnight, and of course had to look for this cache.
After reading the log history, we felt that we could be FTF resurrected cache. However there were a couple of other cachers before us.
All good, and stunning view.

Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I are on a bit of a Christmas Roadtrip from Auckland to Ingill & back ... we'll be doing a few geocaches on our travels ... this being the 176th cache of hopefully many ... we had been spent Christmas in Invercargill & were now heading back to Auckland, taking the scenic route ... we were now heading North, had been up the West Coast of the South Island ... were now going 'round the mountain' before heading back to Auckland ... had stayed the night in Wanganui ... be rude not to grab some caches on the way ... quick & easy find on this walkway at Opanake ... another 'smiley face' to the tally ... TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #1,910 for us.
#12,196. Great views from the Opunake Beach Lookout in Opunake. Picked the time when GZ was relatively quiet. Found after a short search. The cache was in excellent condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log (first to sign the replaced cache).
Thanks for the placement, and for bringing us to this site, and …

DNF searched for 30 minutes gps indicated where cache was but no cache after searching every rock i could find carried on to next caches around opunaki then came back to this one for second go but still no luck me thinks its gone.
Although the hint seemed to indicate a clear area, reasonably consistent with the coordinates, despite a lengthy search, we were unable to locate this cache. Just as we had given up, KiwiRupen arrived, so we searched a little longer, before leaving them to it.
Found it while in Taranaki for Waitangi long weekend. So many rocks here .... Trust your device! Coordinations pretty good here. Lovely views. Mountain still covered .... TFTC
I was travelling home from New Plymouth after staying up there for a week in lovely weather and swimming most days at one or other of the many beaches around the wider area. ..Lovely
I walked over tho this cache after visiting the redoubt cemetery and the lovely little garden with seats, flowers, water for the dogs and a free little library.

2.55pm. A quick stop off after visiting friends in town. Easy find here.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Thank you. David and Noeline.
Was planning to get this last night and camp here but wind was so strong I couldn't open the door of the camper. Quieter this morning and Mt Taranaki clear of clouds.
While we have been to New Plymouth a few times, we have never down the coast drive. A quick stop to enjoy the view and of course grab a geocache. This was found as part of our North Island roadtrip. We forgot to log these in January and just found on our phone. Sorry for the late logging. TFTC
Enjoyed an sunny afternoon in Opunake with a lovely swim in the waves. Warmed up by doing the walkway. Great views along the coast. Thanks.
Was good to finally put this one to rest. Was here over a year ago with no joy and have seen it’s been replaced yet again recently so i thought i had better get here pronto to sign it off a before it disappeared again. Great spot..was very windy here today. TFTC
Another visit here but we wernt complaining...we climbed our castle and had a dance after the find. We liked the rock nearby with the post inside..TFTC
.Come to checkout the view from Opunake Lookout. Now to snag and tag this one. Cheers
Day 6- Thursday 19 December. Hawera to Okato and back the inland route. Then back to pick up Zara and head to New Plymouth.
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are spending Christmas exploring Taranaki via geocaching. Its been an amazing 3 week adventure. Rattls BBQ was a great event, meeting many other cachers. But also managed to fit in a few more events, especially New Years Day celebrating the start of 2020. Lots of caches - over 500. Lots of cache maintenance. Lots and lots of kilometers. And lots of amazing places visited along our journey. Mt Taranaki remained elusive for much of our travels and the caches on it at the top. Loved Pukekura Park Night Lights Show and the the Wooden Mechanical toy exhibition at NP Info centre.

Missed the entrance to this lookout, so walked here. My leg needs a decent stretch anyway. Two weeks ago I ripped a hamstring muscle playing paintball. could not walk, could not stand. 3 days later I could crawl up stairs. Now I can walk, but running is still difficult, so some extended exercise is good. Odd place for a lookout. I guess it means we can see a kilometre further out to sea, where there is... more sea.
Day six of Taybeedragon's and my big 3 week circumnavicaching trip around Mt Taranaki, starting from Palmerston North. Today is Manaia to the cape lighthouse along the coast and back to Hawera via the inland route - it's a slow trip!!
Highlights:
* 3 weeks, 536 caches
* Mt Taranaki had been removed for washing, which was a bit annoying. Even after it had been returned we were only allowed to see it for it was less than half an hour a day.
* High percentage of caches with crappy coordinates
* Amazing Pukekura Park
* AMAZING Pukekura Park light show!
* Pukeiti Gardens
* 3 notebooks full of cache notes for later logging
* Lots of cache maintenance!
***[======== NZ Mega 2020 ========](http://nzmega.com)***
Planning for the [NZ Mega 2020](http://nzmega.com) event is well underway. It will be held in Auckland over Labour Weekend, 23 to 26 October 2020. It's going to be a massive celebration of geocaching:
* 20 years of geocaching worldwide.
* 20 years since New Zealand had the very first geocache hidden outside of USA.
* And it's 2020 - all the 20s!
Talk to your geo-friends and start planning to be part of [this event](https://coord.info/GC87777) - you won't want to miss it!

Day two Hawera to New Plymouth via Opunake
Great to be out and about, find quickly made. We thought about skipping the walk out here until we saw the entry sign. Nice spot, though not sure you gained much from climbing the platform!! Cheers
A long weekend cache raid to Taranaki. The weather didn't stop us doing anything, and we had fun times. Logs were signed with a combination of KT and 2 depending one which of did the signing. Thanks Kiwi Moose, Team_Gaters and TheWanglers for a choice time.
Thanks to all CO's for placing and maintaining their caches. Cheers

A planned geocaching trip to the USA was shelved (but is all go for this time next year!) so we came up with a weekends Plan B. Taranaki with TheWanglers, KarmaReprint and KiwiMoose - logs signed (TK)^2 or a variation of. A really fun trip with the forecast rain and thunder seemingly always in the distance but never hindering us. A really fun weekend.
Day 2 dawned with a bit of drizzle but that soon cleared (whilst eating breakfast) and we had a lovely trip missing all the bad weather again. Harwea to New Plymouth the long way. Heaps of history; cool scenery and lots of laughs. Cheers all!
LOL - we were going to skip this one but then saw it was a parkngrab! Great views form the cliff or platform - not sure the extra 1.5m added much to the view...but hay; great spot. Cheers.

A plan was hatched for a few of us to head to America for a Mad Mission. With life getting a bit crazy a downsized trip was organised as I had sorted childcare for the cachelets. The big America trip is now set for next year. We asked a member of our crew if we could go to Nelson, Dunedin, Auckland, Wellington, Hastings the answer all came back "I don't have many to find there". We left it to that member to suggest an area. He came up with New Plymouth and a loop around the mountain. That's a go from the rest of us. We sorted puzzles, gpxs, motels and a car and hit the ground running. The forecast was doom, gloom, rain, hail and lightning. Oh well, sounds exciting. We had very little of any of the weather that affected our caching and found we had all overpacked (thank God!).
Day 2: Today was a long day in the car 14 hours or so to our home for the night and then an hour or two after dinner before having a beer at the campground. We started in Hawera and went the long way around the coast with many detours. The history was amazing and the the lack of irrigation was very noticable to us Cantabrians. We once again missed the horrible weather!
Awesome lookout. Even better view from platform.
Thanks for the cache happynappy8.

After spending the night at Middleton Bay we stopped at this lookout on our way out to start day ten of our journey. Todays plan is to drive along the forgotten highway and then head to whanganui for the night. This was a quick find but the logbook is wet managed to sign but only bearly. Tftc.
Not a nice weather day. But just for a moment it had stopped. Nice view up here. Grab tb. Tftc

Down in the area for a few days visiting family and enjoying the coastal cycleway. Bike ride was completed by 10am this morning, soo gave us the day to do a circuit around and up the mountain. This had to be the stop of the day view wise. Gets a fav point. SL. TFTC.
