We expected to have a night in the park but there was no place left at the campground. To bad . Anyway we have had a turn in the park. We saw the kangourous of course and the koalas also ! So cute!! We went to the crystal cave but find a closed door. It seems its under ranger control now. We found answer as we can (and send them). Hope it's sufficiant.TFTEC / MPLEC
On our Australian trip . After started for some days in Darwin we are on the road to Perth now .On the Road after Katherine we have seen Edith Falls, Kunnurra and Bungles Bungle. Finally we cross the Pentecost-river to enter the Gibb RiverRoad . A lot to see like Emma Falls, El Questro, Mitchel Falls, Manning Gorge, Galvans Gorge, Bell Gorge, Tunnel Creek and Windjana Gorge .Now return on the sealed road again . Further over Derby, Broome, Port Hedland, Karratha, a sidekick to Karijini NP, Exmouth, Coral Bay, Carnarvan, Geraldton, Ellendale Pool, Lake Indoon, Cervantes and the rest down the coast to Perth .Today there was no wind anymore and also no rain, so we headed for the pinnacles and to Yanchep. Interesting cave .TFTC# 17'432
After 38 years living in Perth, and coming to Yanchep for nearly 4 years, we have finally got a smilie here! Megawat60and I are on a short stint camphosting at Henry White campsite and got the opportunity to do the tour today with guide Naomi. Greatly enjoyed it and much recommend it to anyone visiting the area.. amazing to see nature creating such beauty underground over 1,000’s of years.
Answers sent by megawat60 for us both. Many thanks for creating this Earthcache!

Out n about with m4yb grabbing a few caches.
Think I came here with my kids many years ago, but I certainly can’t remember it well! So today we had the opportunity to take the tour and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Answers sent for her as well and an FP for your work.
Thanks for the hide & papillon367

Answers have been sent. Got the tour guide to help with some of the answers. Interesting place. We are visiting from Queensland and working in Western Australia for a few weeks.
Answers sent to CO by Dora the Explorer! Dora the Explorer and I had a day off work today so we headed North to check out some caves.
The limestone caves with their many and varied structures are fascinating and hard to get a head around the time spans involved.
Thanks for bringing us to this place.

Out with Lachlan1.77 exploring Yanchep and Two Rocks today. Rode our MTB into Yanchep NP (and avoided any fees - but we just completed the Yaberoo Trail and car was back down the other end). Saw koalas, the old swimming pool I did swimming lessons in the 1980's, and explored some caves. Action aplenty!
Sent answers to CO, thanks for the earthcache - well worth riding our MTBs in.

Out on a Northern suburbs weekday adventure! Today we attacked Yanchep and Two Rocks. Far out this is a long way from civilisation.
Cheers papillon367!

Haven’t submitted our answers due to age appropriate and attention span.
But they had a great time exploring the caves.

I am short, I must've been made to go in caves - unlike my two buddies who came with me

Just over 7 months since we left home and stated our lap, just over half way in our original time allocation and not even close to half way around the country… 25,000 ish km done, gosh we have seen a lot, but there is so much more to see.
Perhaps if/we I stopped looking at so many rocks, trees and beaches we wouldn’t be taking so long…then there are the flowers, old things and street art that keeps catching our attention.. maybe it’s the Geocaches… or the time we have spent prospecting, enriching our lives but not finding anything of material value, it’s all about the journey not the possessions. What ever it is, we are having a bloody brilliant time and I wouldn’t change a thing!
The last few weeks have been a bit blah with some bad news from the east, apologies for the late and generic log, catch up time a lot harder than I thought, I really need to make a concerted effort (even in difficult times) to stay on top of logs answers and photos.
Thanks for being one of the caches we found in the past few weeks.

Having a great day out exploring the Yanchep NP, we made sure to visit the Crystal Cave whilst here... We enjoyed the interesting tour & it was a great learning experience for the kids too

A great spot for an EC which I had been saving up for earth cache day.
Thanks for highlighting this spot to us. Awarding FP. Thanks to the CO for getting back to us in such a timely manner.

We were heading into Yanchep National Park today to locate the Bonus for a nearby lab Cache so we thought that we would try & do your Earthcache too. Thanks for making us visit, finally, after 17 years living in WA.
This one has been a blot on my geocaching map for many many years! But with the earthcache souvenir on offer this weekend it was time to have a go. Thanks to Papillon for taking my answers in good humour and for the time it takes to investigate and write these types of caches up. I suspect many do not realise just how much effort goes into them. Visited the cave while spending a few hours in Yanchep National Park.
Will spend answers this evening.

Fantastic tour of the cave, it's been forty years since I was in here last and it's much drier now than it was back then. Shows how much water has dissapeared from the Gnangara mound. The lake had water in it and the stream was flowing last time I visited but not anymore.
What surprises me is on the way up here all the new developments still have massive areas of Grass which requires a huge amount of water, why is something not put into legislation to preserve our water reserves?
Lawn is one of the biggest water wasters, especially on the sandy soils in Perth.
TFTC Very informative

Heading home after a weekend away at Ledge Point we decided to stop in to explore an area we hadn’t seen before. It was also a good opportunity to explore a another cave for our Batman crazy geokids. Tour was interesting and a nice break from the warmer weather. Answers will be sent through shortly.
What a fun visit to Yanchep National Park! A neat cave, plus lots of wildlife - kangaroos, koalas, kookaburra, and more! Visiting from Houston, TX, USA.
Found it was camping in the park it's easy
Entered cave with TessPlus3. Answers sent via TessPlus3 log.

TFTC. Lots of interesting information. First time back in this cave since I was a young child.
On mother's Day 7 caches and a lovely lunch with champagne. Perfect. This was the first and we went on the tour. Tftc
Smaller than other tourist caves I've been in, but still very interesting. The eldest boy (12yo) is interested in the adventure caving, but I shudder to think of the original finder worming his way through those crawl spaces with just a lamp.

Our last day in Australia before heading home to the UK. This is officially my last cache of the holiday and a feel I have ended on a high!
We really enjoyed the tour down these wonderful caves and Ww JR must have thought he was in "Minecraft".... he was in his element!

Lovely visit. Took a youth group here to visit on our girls excursion. They really enjoyed themselves and learnt a lot.

papillon367, I found your EarthCache Crystal Cave . The entrance fee into Yanchep National Park cost $12/car and the entrance fee into Crystal Cave cost $15/person. Met with cave specialist, Robert Susac who is also a member of WA Speleological Group. He explained much about the Crystal Cave system. A favourite from me [^]! SL Thank you for taking me here and TFTH. Images show:
01 Ranger, Robert Susac, explaining about Crystal Cave system to visitors
02 Robert Susac explaining the formation of a cave column
03 Rock fall shelter in the cave

Thank you! I had promised my nephews that as soon as they turned seven and no longer needed a special car seat, I would take them for a drive in my car to a cave. So today was the day. And seeing as Yanchep National Park now offers camping, I though we might as well make it a camping adventure. But first things first, we had a cave to explore. We all enjoyed the tour of the cave (the boys are still telling everyone about Henry White), and I enjoyed being able to complete another Earthcache.
We were looking forward to visiting this area but feel quite disappointed in our experience here!
Paid quite a bit to get into the park and view the cave only to find that we had missed the tour so only got
to see part. Then we couldn't find the nearby traditional cache as some other people wouldn't leave the area.
Didn't have the required answers for this Earthcache
However we visited the cave down to the south of Perth - Ngilgi cave and this was wonderful.

Holidaying in the area with tmann421. This was the Northern most point of our trip and we had been looking forward to these caves. Enjoyed the surrounding park as well. Answers emailed to CO.

Day 22 of my trip from the UK to Perth and today is a return trip to Yanchep National Park as I had not managed to find the time to do the Crystal Cave tour last time and was feeling like I was missing out! Full on day today, so this was squeezed into this morning prior to a swimming lesson at midday. This is such a fantastic resource, and due to those time restrictions last time I'd missed the koalas too, so that was the first thing we actually did before the first tour opportunity at 10.30.
Having watched breakfast being served to Liptus (twin sister of Euca) we made our way back to the car and drove round to the car park for the Crystal Cave. We had a couple of minutes to spare so had a go at Crystal Maze, but unfortunately we were out of luck and needed to get ready to go down.
Now then, I had always planned to do this but at the last minute my cousin said she'd give it a go too....my seriously claustrophobic cousin....I am claustrophobic too, but couldn't admit this to her as I now had to be the calm one! Especially with a 5 year old in tow who wasn't too keen at times either... Anyway, we made it down and despite me breaking out into a quiet cold sweat and a moment where I thought Mel might use her daughter as an excuse to not go on, we were in and on our way....
WOW, am I glad we did it (and so was Mel once she was up top again). It really is spectacular and our guide was fantastic and so passionate about its preservation. I feel humbled by the unknown impact we are having on these places, that the majority of us are so unaware of. To think that we have lost an underground crustacean that existed only in one place ever...due to our water consumption and climate change...it's very sad. However, that doesn't detract from what a beautiful place this is, well worth the visit. Thank you so much to papillon367 for creating this Earthcache and therefore giving me more opportunity to learn so much. I have sent the (hopefully correct) answers to the CO. Dipped a load of TBs too. Thanks again.

Decided to spend the day with the happyguys at Yanchep National Park and it was the perfect day for it. This was one of our last finds of the day. Kids loved the cave. Tftc.
Should have read the questions before going on the cave tour. Got two out of three right though, so papillon367 gave us a pass. Thanks for the cache!
I had plans of doing the Cockatoo trail out to Ridges campsite with my kids and their cousins but as one of them had a bad cold and the weather didn't look to nice we cancelled the plan and went to Crystal Cave instead. The kids thoroughly enjoyed the tour through the cave and i managed to hopefully get the answers to this earthcache. Had plans on doing the cache outside but the rain was pelting down so left it for another day. TFTC.
We always like an earth cache and in fact had called in here a year ago to try and see the caves and wondered why no EC had been set however we arrived too late so was not able to get in. So on this trip we were glad to see someone else had set an EC. A interesting tour of the cave to see how it is a little different to some of the other caves we have seen. The cave systems sounds like they have been changing over recent times with the general drying up of the area. TFTEC
