This area has become more undesirable and unkempt so is not a nice place to have a cache
Not a particularly picturesque location to visit in the first place, and made worse by the clearly stolen and abandoned car left near GZ.But I'm always up for a bit of a scramble, and that's what I did to a sea of ferns, none of which appears to be sheltering a cache.
Dieser Cache konnte heute erfolgreich geloggt werden.Danke an den owner fr's legen und pflegen TFTC Schmerzbefreit
We were going past here today and it was so close to the road and had a nice large park that we could fit the Jeep and caravan in, so it was a must do... I went up one way and then saw a geotrail down the other way (from the road) that definitely looked easier, so went for that. TFTC
I'm on a road trip to the far north, attempting to complete the PWGT Tahi Geotour.
This is day six and my last day, heading back home from Te Kuiti. Having completed the PWGT1 Geotour, today's focus is picking up some missing months in my Jasmer.
Will expand on my logs, post photos, qualifying caches for challenges, etc. When I get home. TFTC
Found well tucked in, and so remote too (which was my main purpose in stopping for this one).

A bit of a scramble up the hill using the hint the cache was soon revealed surprisingly it was in good condition signed and replaced as found tha ks for your story and cache..rugged country
We are heading home via a large detour. I saw this cache on my app, then lost coverage (spark). I was able to navigate to the parking spot. Just as well for macwatt who is 2 degrees as he did have coverage. I didn't like my chances of finding this cache as there had been recent logging and the whole area was disturbed - except for gz!! I clambered up and had a look, with no luck. Instinct made me look again in a logical place. This cache was well buried but in good condition. Thanks for the placement
I found 13 caches today between Ohingaiti and Te Kuiti (almost). However this wasn’t one of them. Sadly my final two searches turned into DNFs. Covered quite a bit of territory looking for this one. The coords provided only limited assistance. There were lots of ‘options’ in terms of where the hint suggested looking, and the occasional prickly piece of vegetation didn’t help my frame of mind! Gave up after a few minutes’ fruitless searching.
Stopped for this one on my way to the snow. Took a while for the GPS to settle and in the meantime I walked to the top of the hill which was great fun. On the way down the GPS has tighter up and the cache was soon located. Thanks for placing this one!
Raining quite steadily when we got here so got rather wet, especially the shoes. The log i signed was nice and dry though, the other one looked mouldy and falling apart so i didn't even pull it out. Tftc was glad to find after 2 dnf and 1 other find.
With an initial apology for the veeeeery late log - I've been doing some admin and came across a slip of paper with a small list of unlogged caches. From 2 years ago. As someone who likes good records I'm back to log.Another quick find on a trip north with Banian and co. While a wedding in Hamilton was our final destination, it's all about the journey, and a good journey involves at least one or two finds. TFTC
After a bit of a break from caching I am catching up on my logging that I hadn't finished due to various reasons, mainly procrastinating.
Heading North for a few days to attend the wedding of one of redants cousins, and find some caches on the way.

Thanks MillsandLills for the cache. It’s #1406 for us. We found your cache on 17 February 2021. Found after a quick scramble!
Quick find, but definitely needs maintenance. Not sure if log can be salvaged. Placed it in bag and added new wayerproof log for now. Little toy, too. TFTC!
This was a good opportunity to stretch the legs to break up a long drive. My GPSr talk me directly to the correct spot for an instant find.
Heading south after visiting family collecting caches along the way. Cache all fine. Thanks
Nice quick find while on our way to start the Timber Trail. Soon located with the good clue. TFTC
A break in the rain led to a quick stop here today. There had been another car in the layby when passing on Friday but all good today, just us 3. There was a headless goat nearby stinking up the area but hey. Headed up (excuse the pun) to GZ and soon had the cache in hand. Hard to write on as was wet, but managed.
Travel back to Auckland day and a 2 car 'convoy' was our mode of travel. I accompanied daughter and mrs c followed. Only a couple of finds and torrential downpours did more than dampen the roads, spirits too. Still good to progress another couple of Waikato finds, both good thanks.
A long weekend away to Whanganui and catch up with our daughter, partner and grand-daughter as well as our youngest daughter who is on the move from Blenheim to Auckland. We headed out real early on Friday morning (before 5am) and arrived just about 1230 at our destination. On the Friday I managed a few Adventure Lab caches in Huntley and Ngaurawahia before getting just 2 'real' caches, but one of those was an oldie that filled another elusive hidden month in my grid.

Found with our 3 and 6 y.o. Thank you MillsandLills for making us stop here. Log book a bit damp. Bit otherwise aok.
We found this cache during our holidays, on the way to Waitomo Farmstay!
Thanks for showing!

I arrived here to find at least 20 bikies stopped for a ciggy break on a run somewhere and had to pass this one up until next time. Another in a bad run of DNFs today.
Yahoo!!!
Found it ...phone gps was soooooo accurate, not like our last cache where our poor old phone led us up the garden path
Log signed and we left a wee bit of colour for someone else to take.
Log is wet tho and needs attention.
Thanks for great cache.

Easy to find but a bit challenging to get to in wet conditions. Quite slippery ground. TFTC!

We are making our way home to Auckland today after spending some time with family in Bulls. We stopped by to find this trad on our way past. Luckily for us we were wearing the right footwear after all the recent rain (gumboots) and we made our way up to GZ. With the hint the cache was soon spotted. TFTC
Werent wearing the most appropriate footwear for the terrain. Log book a bit soggy. Thanks
Took a little while for us to locate but got there in the end. Heading home after a weekend in ohakune to show little miss snow for the first time. TFTC
My daughter was taking her son down to Taumarunui to stay with his Nanny. I tagged along and to make the trip worthwhile we did some geocaching on our way home. Had 8 lined up and had 1 DNF. #7 Did some clambering and got to this. GPS is not behaving. Had to choose which ferns. Log was quite damp but I just managed to sign it. Wrenched my ankle as I was walking but to car. I wasn't watching where I was walking. Just too excited about the success we had had today. TFTC
A truckie and mechanic were pulled in here but thankfully to occupied with their own task to pay me any attention. A quick find. TFTC
A few days ago was looking at the stats for the previous finder and noticed that she has on at least one occasion found more geocaches in a single day than I have in 18 years so I thought I better make a big effort to find at least one more today! (Plus it was on my way back to home turf so it seemed appropriate.)
Forgot I had a "real" GPS receiver in the car so only used phone for first time. It had me going in the right direction at first but then I think some of the giants looming to the west confused its little brain and had me crossing the road several times before I used the hint and then it was easy.
If you're heading south slow down as you approach and park at the first opportunity, otherwise things can get a bit perilous!

Nice quick find - I realised how lucky I was to have the place to myself only later, when I saw a big truck parked there later, the driver obviously taking a break. TFTC!!
#6394. I am on my way to Auckland on a road trip. The family decided to go north by train to take in the scenery. That means I have 2 days to get there and no complaints when I stop for any caches. Life is sweet. Stayed overnight at Taumarunui and after spending the morning and afternoon caching around Owhango and Taumarunui, it was time to head north as I wanted to be in Auckland by sunset. But still time to stop for a few close to the main road. This location was a bit of a surprise as it seemed in the middle of nowhere. But good parking was available. Scrambled through the long grass to GZ. Quite a few geotrails in evidence. The hint narrowed down the search area and soon found the cache in second place checked. Signed the log book and returned the cache as found. Thanks MillsandLills for hiding the cache here.
The Central North Island, Day 5: National Park - Hamilton - Auckland
It’s Christmas Day, and the end of this incredible journey through the North Island. Today’s weather was quite a mixed bag with some rain, some sun and some wind. This didn’t dampen the mood though, as we drive North through King Country and Waikato to get a sampling of the history of the region. A very productive day throughout, despite the weather, and a great Christmas Day!
The following is the specific log for each cache:
This would be my last cache in Ruapehu District, and it was a quick little stop. The grass was wet following the downpour, so it was a soggy affair for my pants and shoes to get to the cache. Had a minor encounter with a blackberry, but that worked out to be a nothing more than a small nuisance. Grabbed the cache and signed in. TFTC!

Cache all good tho I hid in the trees while somebody stopped for a smoke before grabbing it.
Heading to the MEGA event in Upper Hut, Wellington, down a not so common trail for us to thin out a few caches along the way and the hopefully on the way back Monday.
Muggles were out in force due to the good sunny weather, so this one allowed me to make a find without too much attention.
Pulled in here for a stretch before heading on down the road.
TFTC.

Parking nearby, the climb was not too bad, went straight up to the cache, which was a little exposed, as it had slipped out from its hiding place. Able to sign, even if a little damp. Sadly 2 lumps of decaying animal? had to be walked past, luckily not too smelly, but not sure what they are?
Slipped on my descent, and one of my fingers did battle with some of the blackberry grrr
Thanks for the hide MillsandLills, a chance to stop and have a stretch. With little rebel, who is insisting the log is signed little black bird

After a big day 4wding in Tongariro National Park it was time to head home. I was keen to knock off some caches on the way home since normally if I am down this way I am either needing to be somewhere on time or I am too tired to stop. Made the effort this time to clear out some of these drivebys that I normal drive by. A quick stop here, Sharkboy was snoring his head off in the back so knew I had some time to search without too much complaining.
Soon spotted the cache and had it logged and returned. A nice spot for a break in the journey

Took longer than it should have but found it in about 5 mins. Stop in the way home from Easter.
Out on a work trip with a Polish mate, a chance to intro him to the joys of GC. We had a great day and did do some actual work as well. Mission accomplished, this one is a wrap. Thanks for the cache from Blenheim Bear!

Pfff... I was blind... couldnt find it in 5 minutes, LtCaine needed 5 seconds and one grab
When we arrived I first let ReCached wander off on his own to look for the cache, but after a few minutes I came to assist him in the search. Quickly discussed possible hides and by chance I just had to look in a single spot to find the container. TFTC MillsandLills!

Found on our way home to Hamilton. We broke the trip up with several cache stops. Many thanks for the cache.
Found by geowife after I got covered in seed balls stuck to all my clothes! Glad we stopped at the previous picnic spot for lunch as this one is very basic. TFTC
Found while driving up from New Plymouth. A welcome stop on the way. Tftc. MattyH from Tassie
First cache on our road trip! Heading from Taranaki to Tongariro for a few days caching. TFTC
I was temporarily distracted by a geotrail going off in a different direction but coordinates and clue were spot on. Thanks for the find.
A perilous place for a goat to live on a State Highway or rather in this case lived on State Highway. A hot day to climb. TFTC
On the way to Tongoriro we did look for some caches. This was one of them and we found it.

Oh well today was the day, turned up on site and red the hint.
Choice of two locations and there it was at pick number one.

This was the fourteenth day of my driving trip down to Oamaru for Geofest 2017. I stopped every five to ten kms or so along the way to grab a cache. This expanded my driving time to a total of two weeks to get there and home again. I ended up going a total of 3,500 kms.
This was the home stretch after a long trip.
I wasn't sure I was going to find this one, but I kept looking and found it. TFTC.

Stopped by on the way north and found my way to GZ fairly quickly. Cache found but unable to sign log as in keeping with previous log, the cache was full of water and log soaked. Took photos and can post if required.
I too did not have the gear with me to tidy this up so left as found, having removed the water.

No problems with the find, unfortunately the cache has taken on water again and the log is destroyed. I also didn't have my normal kit with me, so wasn't unable to replace sorry. Will add a needs Maintenence flag.
TFTC MillsandLills, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 6 find(s) of 7 today, making this find #1643

Our last find before we arrive in Taumarunui for the weekend. A quick scramble up and the cache was quickly located. We weren't expecting to find a takeaway container here. The cache has taken on water and the log is damp, smelly and mouldy. We managed to sign the log and drain the water out before we were on our way again. TFTC!

Took some time to find the right place, at first we mistook the cache for a thrown away snack box, nevertheless it was a fine spot.
Thanks for the cache!

#13748. The cache was a bit further from the road than I had expected, and with lots of long grass to wade through I managed to pickup huge number of seeds on my socks. TFTC.
Day 4 our North Is trip, and today we are traveling from Chateau Tongariro to Stanmore Bay. What a difference a day makes and today is warm, sunny and with blue skies which is a welcome change after a couple of drizzly days.
A good spot for a break and a biscuit (and a cache) to increase the energy levels. TFTC.

Pulled over in the parking area and made the way over the damp grass. Great to find a cache a reasonable distance from another for a challenge cache we are working towards. TFTC
The road was dry but the long grass quite damp, so by the time I have managed to get to the cache and back again I was soaking! Luckily Team Welsh let me back in the car. There was water in the container so I tipped this out and tried to make sure the log was as dry as possible. T4tc
2328 Stopped on my way home. Climbed higher than necessary but soon saw where I needed to be. Cache had water in it but log still dry.
Ooohhh a bit muddy underfoot and the only time of the day my socks got wet, but thanks to the hint spotted what I was looking for pretty quick. Tftc
Heading south on the third leg of my holiday journey so decided to grab as many "drive by" caches as possible. Got nice wet shoes here in the long grass. TN, left a pathtag. TFTC MillsandLills

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... A cache-hunting road trip into the King Country. The day started out bright and sunny, but the dark clouds rolled in as soon as we crossed over the hills on Highway 41...
Traffic seemed to flow quite quickly through this narrow section of road... We had no problem locating this one. TFTC.

Was travelling to Mt Ruapehu for a walk and decided to go through this way, little scramble through the wet grass and the cache was quickly in hand. had wondered what the smell was in the car park and it turned out it was a decaying sheep carcus, yay.

One of the many caches we found on our campervan journey from Lower Hutt to Tauranga. A mighty and enjoyable journey through many great and iconic parts of the north island. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to new places. Sorry for the generic log.
What a pong! A dead carcass somewhere near by, particularly where we parked and wasn't so bad up at the cache sight thank goodness!
The summer holiday this year was to visit the far North. We decided to take our time and travel with just short trips and stop over to visit friends/relatives rather than one big long drive through to Whangarei, so there was a little time allowed for geocaching, although this was fairly restricted. We planned a couple of longer stays at campsites where we used our tent and at other times we were at friends or cabins/motels. Some of the caches took us to a little out of the way places but these were really worthwhile, while others we discovered and visited and as luck would have it there was also a cache! The logging of these cache has had to wait until we got to relatives, on the whole.
This is a fairly generic log with additional notes about individual caches that had something extra that remained in my memory.
Thanks for the cache and another smiley face.
