Co-ordinates are off by about 10m and under recently felled trees. Bit tricky to find, need to head in off the track a bit
Last for the day. The folks are weary - me, not least. Off home for some dinner and an event (Geocaching event of course).
I was exhausted and having trouble getting on and off the bike so as the navigator I found the easiest way back to the car. I admit we may have gone the wrong way for a bit but I was so tired I just wanted to get back as soon as possible. We passed this cache so it would have been rude bot to look for it. M found it. There were times that M and B did not trust my navigation skills but I knew just where to go. The GPS has been much more useful today than the cell phones. We had a great day and we will return again but now we are off home to get a cup of tea before heading to a geocaching event tonight in Victoria Square with Simply Paul. You never know, once we have picked up all the caches we may e-bike the entire track just for the fun of it. A favourite for the day of adventure.
That was a bit of a mission to get there thanks to the trees that have been felled. First route in would have meant attempting to climb over fallen trees but I managed to find a second route that wasn’t as difficult. My last cache before walking back to my car and going home

GPS was bouncing around.
My attempt at the coordinates:
S43 27.507 E172 26.839
Lots of criscrossed trees fallen down here but the old stumpy is still there too, (barely) holding together.
Kia ora! Paldies!
Thanks for the cache, Team_Gaters!

Trees have been felled at gz, took a while to dig this one out. Should be easier for next.
last one for the day. Almost gave up on this one but luckily I went back for a final scan & came up with the goods. Log book is soaked could do with a fresh one. TFTC
Out for a bike ride so came here. ON the positive notes: found every cache looked for, never fell off my bike, wasn't eaten by a bear.
Out for a nice bike ride around McLeans Island good not having a lot of muggles - TFTC
Found with NZDi. It is Waitangi Weekend and NZDi decides she wants to spend a few days in Christchurch to do some retail therapy. A couple of our grandchildren have birthdays coming up and she can't find anything suitable in the local stores in Blenheim and is hoping the big city has a better selection. The plan is to travel south on Friday caching along SH 1, do the shopping on Saturday morning and cache out at the McLeans Island MTB park in the afternoon, then head home on Sunday with a detour to cache the K2R- Passchendaele Memorial Path between Kaiapoi and Rangiora (I guess that is what K2R stands for). Throughout the weekend we dated and signed our logs in full, as KM + ND or a combination of both depending on the room available on the sheet/book.
Today is day two of the trip and a continuation of a visit we made to the area just before the country went into Level 4 Lockdown in March 2020 when we cached the horse riding area on foot. This time we came prepared with our MTBs and a plan which included getting 22 caches (18 traditionals and 4 puzzles) in and adjacent to the mountain bike tracks. I don't usually do full copy and paste logs when geocaching, but this time I am going to make an exception because all of the caches we found today were pretty much the same and when doing a power trail or similar cache run like this one cache runs into the next and it is really hard to write something special about each. As for the four puzzle caches, I was almost going to bypass them when planning todays adventure but decided to look at them anyway. 20 minutes later I had all four solved and their final coordinates altered on their respective cache pages, which is probably how things should go in a situation like this and a special thanks goes to the CO's of those caches for not making the puzzles too hard. Another thing I need to say, is that it is all fine sitting at your desk, looking at the map and deciding in what order you are going to get the caches. But as a hint to others reading this log, who are planning to do the same thing, try and find a specific map of the MTB tracks showing the direction they go as the wheels fell off our plan when we hit the first 'Wrong Way' sign about 2/3rds of the way through. It wasn't too much of a problem as the caches planned as No.s 12 to 17 were just reversed 17 to 12 and we just had to change the direction we approached No. 19 from. All-in-all I doubt if it lengthened our route by more than 100m all up.
Thank you to all the CO's for placing and maintaining your caches, I estimate all up it probably took us about four and a half hours and we achieved our aim with no DNF's needing to be logged.
This was our twenty-first find of the day, and as it was a decent length ride from the previous, I 'went for it' while NZDi took it slow and easy. That is why I was replacing the cache when she pulled up near GZ. Good timing NZDi.

Stunning day and very few people around. The cachlets enjoyed the bike ride and finding this cache
Mr EU was keen for a bike ride. Mrs EU thought it would be nice to take our time and stop occasionally! TFTC
Taking a spin around McLeans Island & picking up a few caches along the way. Nice easy find. TFTC
It's nice to have a very obvious cache like this now and then. Thanks for bringing us here!
I'm visiting from Nelson for a few weeks, this is my second ride at McLeans. Today's focus was on getting 2 laps done, 32km. So I only stopped for a few caches that were near obvious landmarks/intersections.
A quick find here, some very clear cacher's camo identifying the correct object.

Second stump, amongst a lot of stumps. Easy find, nice break after a short bike ride, that's perfect, thanks for placing this cache here! Both the container and logbook were in good condition.
Lots of hint items, a jumpy GPS, and teenagers who are faster riders going on ahead meant I didn't give this a proper look. Next time!
Nice easy find for late in the day.
2/3rds of the way to target now.
17th cache on our quest fo 24 caches in 24hrs

Lots of stumps but I soon located the right one. The hide was a little obvious when taking into account natural cover. TFTC
No. 17 in our 24 caches in 24hrs attempt.

My last day in Christchurch and finally I get to take the bike for a spin!
I was out this way yesterday walking the dog, but today it is a different story.
So I made an early trip out here to do the groundwork for the Wherigo before finding these bike caches. And it was heaps of fun.
I like this track, with its long sweeping cambers and lack of tree roots it is a pleasure to ride. A few times I powered up but for the most part I kept it in check and kept an eye out for faster peddlers behind me. The tracks are well marked and all caches were grabbed with no backtracking. And there are some pretty good caches around here.
Following the bike park I did a few further down the road and mostly along the river stopbank before starting the trip home with a slight detour into Kaiapoi. Thanks all COs, no issues with any caches, all 34 today found and in good shape so thanks for maintaining and sorry for the cut and paste.

Being school holidays and a stunning sunny day me and my youngest lad decided to ride the trail and on the way past we stopped off and found your cache with good co-ordinates and condition. Thanks Team_Gaters

Nice easy find on a great day out on the mt bike. So many muggles about on this absolutely beautiful day and a Father’s Day treat for me. TFTH
Had a lovely walk through the forest today with Pagenz, our host for the weekend and her dog. Another stump, another cache, no problems here and the coords are excellent. TFTC
Had been far too long since I had a full day of caching, so contacted Mr Cuddly Brick and sorted ourselves out for a day on the bikes.
Thanks for the cache

First time on bike here. Nice tracks and no other people around at Saturday evening. TFTC.
Quick easy find on a nice Friday evening ride. Was quiet when I started but very busy by the time I was back to the car park. Thanks for the effort that goes into placing and maintaining the cache.
Last time we did not want to walk into this direction as well, so decided to leave it for another day. Today with nice and calm weather it was the perfect day for it and a quick find - TFTC
Nice quiet spot mostly hidden from the tracks, but not needed today as hardly anybody out on this gloomy morning. Another quick find for miss 6. Tftc
TFTC. Out for a wander with flobberworm!
Thanks Team_Gaters for placing the cache.

Quick find by the daughter. Out for a bike ride with the kids in school hols. Thanks to all cache owners for taking the time to place and maintain your caches. Team Broadbent aka TB (prev known as BJ25). Find # 1748
Lovely Sunday morning bike ride with 8ManAfter who suggested I find this. Well worth it, many thanks.
Took time out from family activities to blow out some cobwebs on the bike and bag a few caches. Enjoyed the ride and the finds. Did have to do a bit of a search for this one as GPS was a bit jumpy.
First of five caches whilst riding at McLeans Island this morning. Straightforward find once I’d figured which direction my GPSr was wanting me to go. #1605. TFTC.
Nice quick find this fine Saturday afternoon. Lots of walkers with dogs around. Tftc
Went for a nice long walk with my muggle hubby (probably his version was that he went for walk with his crazy caching other half ) and our little one who was napping happily all the way in his pram.
Quick find - number two (out of three).

Today's walk was about a 3km loop from Miners Bank Road. It feels great to finally be getting more and more caches off my "too lazy" list. Quick recognisable find. TFTC (3432)
Truffles was having a field day sniffing out all the rabbits, but I didn't care for the dead one nearby. We found the cache and quickly moved on. It has been an enjoyable wander. Thanks for placing these Team Gaters.
#13450. OS#2 proved to be a bit more off than OS#1, and was a quick find once we got to GZ. TFTC.
Late in the afternoon, as we had waited for the warm temperatures to drop, StreetWalker loaded up the bikes and we headed out to McLeans Island - taking the scenic route past a cache or two .
Another quick find, a few old stumpies around here - a pity as we could have done with the shade they would have cast. TFTC.

#2,506: Stumpy Smiley 2!
All the weekend stuff taken care of, 4pm, nice evening, time to head to McLean's Island for some MTB caching! Lots of nice ones, and I found everyone I looked for, and no DNFs.
Number 2 also lived up to its name.

Beautiful day for a ride. Recommend the hire bikes if you don't have a mountain bike - the one I used was comfy and well maintained.
Found while mountain biking. 40km trip TFTC nice weather and almost clear skies. TFTC
Lovely evening for a ride, so I thought I pop out and do a quick loop of Mcleans and pick up a few caches along the way. Managed to pick up the first six before time started marching by, the rest will have to wait until next time. Nice hide, TFTC 2016/23
First time on my Bike for a very long time. Great Bike track, lots of people here. Thanks for the hide. All where it should be.
