I am currently unable to maintain caches so am archiving the ones I can’t get too sorry
Extremely hard to find!! Needed pliers as someone had pushed it deep down inside. Maintenance needed desperately as its colour is gone and note pad so wet it cannot be removed
This was the weekend I was finally going to get to climb Mt Egmont, something I have wanted to do for a while now, even before I discovered Geocaching!
I was part of a great team of 3, the others being Stardust718 and Gr33nslime, so for most of our logging this weekend we simply signed ourselves as either "G.S.T" or "Team G.S.T" depending on size of log sheet.
We had an elated day yesterday, but today we had to travel the log road home again. But that of course meant plenty of opportunity to get some caches on the way home too.
Sadly this would not be one of them. In spite of the 3 of us all having a good look around, we couldn't spot anything that may have been a cache. So either the 3 of us were just having a poor start to our day or else there's something amiss with this cache.

Another adventure for myself and rustynz and Rebel98. We have flown down from West Auckland this morning and this is a 3 day weekend of caching in New Plymouth and later Whanganui. We have a pile of mysteries to collect and a wad of field puzzle trads too.
Came here twice today. Once as we headed up the hill and there was some dude controlling the flow of the traffic and he was taking a little too much interest in what we were doing, so we gave the area a casual look but reasonably thorough. Then when we came down after doing the Earth caches, the place we had to ourselves and we too like GSEL couldn't find any sign of a cache, we had a couple of good ideas but they proved useless.

Nope defeated by this one. The GZ settled in one area and I combed it thoroughly thinking of every devious and deviant cache I have found in areas with little or no cover for a cache to be hidden. Nothing I could see. It must be so well hidden. Frustrating for sure but you can't win em all.
We visit New Zealand for about two months. For a few days we live in New Plymouth. Today we visited the mountain and here we needed not to pay toll. But we had to look two times.

While visiting the Taranaki area we stopped from time to time for some caches. This one was hidden quite well, so we had to search a bit until we could find it.

**This was 1 of 20 caches that was found by me on the 15th of 19 days in New Zealand.**
**Which also was the 68th of 75 days that my travels thru southeast Asia and Oceania would last.**
Since this log is written on July 30th 2019 my memories from the visit is unfortunately a little dim. So there will be an generic log for most of the caches I did found.
If there is something special I remember from an specific cache I will write it instead of this paragraph.
*During 19 days I traveled from Christchurch to Auckland in an SUV, that i also slept in during most of the nights. 5.956 km of driving did it take to visit the 351 caches that I have marked as found in c:geo.*
*Earthcaches was my main focus during the stay. And I manage to visit 106 of them. So New Zealand is right now the only country where earthcaches are my most found cache type .*

History and great little building here.
Cache was initially inivisible but sharp-eyes of Baktrak won through.
Thanks Malady

A clever hide that took us a while to find. The log was super saturated but we dried it in the car's A/C before signing. With no seal on the container, I suspect it will succumb to the weather soon again. Thanks Malady.
Today we had our second day in Ngaere and made a big roundtrip around Mt. Taranaki, with special emphasis on the city of Opunake, New Plymouth and the Mt. Egmont Visitor Center. On this trip we searched, found and logged many caches, too. The weather was not too good, not sunny, not so warm, very cloudy, and only sometimes there was some sun to be seen.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had better things to do than observing two geocachers.
Thanks to Malady for showing us this location and for the fun we had at Taking its Toll (Taranaki). The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Doing a road trip on the forgotten highway and then still had time to venture up the mountain. I haven't been up there before and loved it. I was lucky to spot the sneaky little cache quite quickly but the log is very wet TFTC
Great little hide. Sadly the log is soaking wet but I did manage to write Velo on the log. I would have replaced the log for you but I didn’t bring any spares with me from UK.
Thanks Malady for the geocache!

Woohoo! Got this on the way back down the road, after mulling it over all day. This time I went straight to it!! TFTC
Missed this one on the way up. Talked about it as we walked on the mountain and decided to look again at a certain object. Voilà!!
Once upon a time there was finally a sale between CHC and NPL, and I managed to grab a seat! The anticipation of the holiday was killing me, as this was to be the first time I set foot in Taranaki, the last unchartered territory in NZ for me. Since the wait for the dates was unusually long, I even got a chance to do some planning and pick a few nice caches to look for. I was hoping to go for a few walks also.
I had a slightly different plan for today, given that this was a best weather forecast of my stay. Unfortunately the noise at the YHA kept me awake until 2am (and it was thanks to staff as I found out!!!), and I was in no state for too much adventure. Never mind, I went for smaller trips instead, finding some amazing caches!
There was no one around, making for a quick find - but then all of a sudden cars started stopping and taking notice also when they saw me reading the plaque! TFTC!!

Found while out and about with tmann421, just getting around to logging this now
It was lovely and peaceful here at 9am - and we had a lovely clear view of the mountain from here, no clouds sitting atop the mountain at all. Just lovely, thank you.
A quick stop on our way down from a windy night on the mountain...great hide. TFTH.
Nice find while hunting caches in the area today.
Easy find, good hide but log is wet - dried it off a bit and signed which should be readable.

Uh Oh - I must be blind... last found only a few weeks ago but I can't see any likely spots after 10mins of searching.
Maybe I will be able to find it another time with fresh eyes to help me...

Cache number 3516 and day 110 of my current streak. After an overnight tramp to Holly hut with my daughter I stopped for this one. I walked back and forth a few times. I even tried the actually hide twice before realizing it was what I was looking for. Took it back to the car to show my daughter and to sign. Then it was returned and safely tucked away. Thank you for the placement.
The last time I was at this toll house was in 2008 when it was the starting place when I ran the marathon.

I had good look for this one, without success, a while ago. Today, heading home after a short, cold and icey walk on the mountain I decided to look for it again. This time I spottted what looked like a geocache hiding place straight away. Success this time. A very nice hide. The log was very wet and I dried it as best could. TFTC.
Another CNA (could not attempt) today, as road was frustratingly still closed, and this time there were two workers there staring at GZ. Hope to be back next year.
Couldn't do a search for this one, as the road was closed past this point and a Fulton Hogan driver was sitting there staring at the GZ. Hoping to get back to this in a couple of days when the road is open.
We've finished watching the under 15 netball championships so have headed up the mountain. Found this on our way down the hill. Quick find and introduced some friends to Geocaching.
31/05/17 13:20 A very clever wee hide. But please, it needs waterproof paper! It was soaked. Also to finders, as with all small caches like this, put the log in the cap, which is narrower than the body. That way, we can retrieve it.... Thanks for placing this, Cheers, GC.
NB: Log has 01/06/17 on it - I was confused, apparently.

Found today on a holiday in New Plymouth, found after some searching interesting history. TFTC
Cannot tell you how happy I am to log this as found! It was one of the first I hunted for and Dnf, now 150 or so caches later I had a bit more know how! It has irritated me since January, so pleased to turn it into a happy face. A favourite point for it's cleverness! TFTC
Have been out to cache, it is definitely still there but has rusted a little in its hiding place so would suggest tool for prying it out of there. Log replaced.
Hate to admit it but this one had us beat after a good half hour of searching. Here with HennyGeo on holidays from Vancouver Island, BC, Canada in scenic New Zealand TFTC
Gave it a good search and even had mom and dad kiwi lending their eyes too, but alas, no luck
Today was day three of a four day ‘camp’ I have been fortunate enough to lead and organize for the ‘SJCgeocamp’ group. The SJCgeocamp group consisted of ten motivated fourteen-year-old boys who had chosen to join me and another adult for a trip to New Plymouth to experience Geocaching for the first time during their school camp week. I really enjoyed researching the trip which consisted of a variety of geocache types, sizes and difficulties in a variety of locations, some more challenging to get to than others. We were after quality rather than quantity and mostly visited geocaches with a high numbers of favorites and by CO’s with good reputations for providing unique hides. Thanks to all the cache owners, the boys had a great time.
We were heading up to the information center today to grab the Earthcache and a trad or two and stopped in here on our way up the mountain. It was raining pretty hard but with plenty of eyes looking for the cache it was found pretty quickly-obviously they have honed their Geo senses over the last couple of days.

Second time back here for this one! Can't believe how easy it was! How did we miss it!!
At long last on the second attempt, this brute nearly beat us again. However eagle eyes Trayc.g spotted the disguised vessel. Clever and jolly frustrating. Thank you for the chase.
A quick easy find, was full of water and log soaked, but still able to fill out. On our way to go up the mountain for a few hours this afternoon.
This one took a bit of searching, but we finally came up with the clever hide. TFTH.
A group of us met at Oakura for the weekend
We headed over to do a walk on Mt Taranaki. On the way down we picked this cleverly disguised cache. Very well hidden. Thanks for the cache.

Thanks Malady for cunning hide loved the history lesson neat place and great cache Ta
On holiday with Loth. We hiked several of the trails today picking up caches along the way. Tftc!
Very cool little house. Was just about to carry on our way when we spotted something. A tricky hide. TFTC up the mountain we go.
The Gps was out slightly but no more than 4 meters but after reading the logs we widened the search unfortunately in the wrong direction
The people from inside the house came out and we asked them where was the geocache and they hadn't heard of geocaching but were amazed when we found it
Many thanks

I had been lazy today and not downloaded any caches on to my GPSr; my phone wouldn't really settle enough to make any sense for this cache - so I loaded co-ords to the Garmin and then it was obvious.
Clever hide, thanks for your efforts, Malady; another favorite from me.

GPS jumping all around the place so relied on geosenses. Took longer to locate than it should have but got there in the end. TFTC
GPs is waaaaay off! Standing right next to it and it was saying its 8m away on the other side of the road. But hey, I found it, and that's what counts. Tftc
(1794) Out with my mates to collect some caches around the mountain. Thanks for taking me to some beautiful spots. Nice hide.
Far out was that a tricky find, definitely worth reading over the recent logs...
I almost gave up but then read some logs and searched a few meters away.
Thank you for the cache.
Nice hide.
