In Ballarat for the 2 Months to Mega Event.

After the event and a small amount of shopping we decided to brave the lovely Ballarat weather and go for a walk along this trail.
Mr Tyred n Cranky made short work of this find. another quick grab along the trail.

In Ballarat for the day to attend the 2 Months to the Surf Coast Event. Then after the event we went and done this series. Parked the car near Number One and off we walked.

While Mrs Tyred n Cranky and FUF009 were signing the log at no. 5, Mr Tyred n Cranky walked off and had found this one by the time we had got there. A different hide along this series, compared to the previous ones we have found.

Our last day in Ballarat before we head back to Melbourne to catch the boat back to Tassie. We've really enjoyed our caching holiday. Thank you to all the CO's for taking the trouble to hide the caches that make such a holiday possible

I ended up doing this series three times today :
(i) the first time to sign the logs;
(ii) a second time when I realized there were number clues here for another puzzle;
(iii) and a third time when I realized that during the second round I had picked up the numbers from the logsheets rather than from the lids. Probably because at #1 there was an unmatched number on the logsheet (not a one) that led me to believe those were the clues.

Heading over to Ballarat for a caching weekend and picking up a few caches on the way.

We managed to find about 230 caches in 3 days/ot bad work for 3 old guys

Out on the bikes to get this series. It didn't take too long and we only had trouble at number 3 where the dog was yapping and the kids were playing on the other side of the fence. We left it and came back and found it on our way back.

A nice series of caches and a pleasant way to stretch out after the long drive over.

Today Dunko and I headed to Ballarat with the intention of reaching and passing 9000 finds,
our mile stone was met what a great day of caching fun we had with 69 terrific caches found during our travels many thanks to Shamus1 for the effort and placement of this cache. TNLN SL

Set off today with my caching buddy Slink1 to try and reach a mile stone number (9000) and I am pleased to say that we made that number and a few past (to be sure we counted correctly!). This cache was found as part of our effort to reach our milestone and my thanks go to Shamus1 for the placement and maintenance of this cache. We had a lot of fun and some laughs along the way.

With a day off from working the weekend and a leave pass granted, all that was left for me to do, was pack up the geo vehicle with supplies including the 2 wheel manual vehicle and I was off at the crack of dawn. My day started at 5:30am and finished 225+ kilometres later at 5:30pm. 60+ caches found for the day and a few DNF's.

I had finished my mission along the Rail Trail and now it was time to make my way into Ballarat. I had done one of this series previously and now it was time to do the rest. I wish I did them In order after I read the details for the final. A quick find along but had to wait for a working muggle in a new built house. Stamped returned as found.

As the weather cleared for a bit we set off down the old rail trail. We skipped 1 so started with 2. No really issues with any of the hides except as others noted 8 is out by about 10m. A few dog walking muggles about. A pleasant little walk. All logs signed and re hid. TFTC.

Started this series on Melbourne Cup Day but ran out of time. Staying in the area for 3 days this time so sent hubby to playground with the kids and set off from the southern end in the reverse direction from last time. The sun as hot but I had plenty of water. Remembered to get clues from caches this time. Very quick find. Thanks to this challenge I have now done the Jasmer (Alphanumeric cache name) Challenger.

Our 4th day camped at Creswick, and today we decided to go to Ballarat to do a few trails.
This was our last series for the day, and we hoped to get them all, but it was not to be.

Most were found quickly, and the clue jotted down.
Number one took us the longest to find, and we did not find a clue in it.
The barking dog at number 3, cut our search short and we settled for a DNF.
An excellent location and the walk was pleasant, for this small series of well placed hides.

Many thanks for placing this series of caches, Shamus1, for us and others to find.

Easy find and soon had cached signed and returned.

Getting there

After finding some of this series this morning, I came back to do some more. This cache was spotted as soon as I arrived at GZ. TFTC Shamus1.

This was a trail that I have visited before but not along this section so it was good to explore more of it. Parking at the start I enjoyed a wander along the track. The coords were spot on and when I stopped looked at the needle there it was!

Today we had some time to spare before meeting up with #GeoHulk to attack some of the BSRT series

We found all in the series OK except for No 1, although the coordinates for some caused us to broaden our search area somewhat. We found it an interesting trail in that much of it is so exposed to muggle view - it is a wonder to us that the caches have survived muggling.

This cache was a different hide to the others we have encountered so far.. Found at 9.20am on 25th September 015. TFTC.

At last a weekend with some reasonable weather. Hopefully the first of many to come. It seemed like a perfect chance to log a few caches. I tried to choose some that would require a little bit of a walk too.

Whoa! 12degrees and sunshine we just had to head out on the GeoBikes. A long hard day which ultimately ended up very cold.

We had a great day along the trails and really enjoyed the peaceful surrounds. Not a great fan of the wind chill factor riding back to the car though. lol.

Building works aplenty here, there & over yonder. Ballarat is clearly a rapidly growing city - something we see very little of in our home territory. Perhaps it's hitting it's second "big boom". The builders were too busy doing their hard yakka, measuring, banging & bulldozing away to be bothered with our shenanigins.

With 3 layers of clothing and a wind chill factor of about minus 3, we managed some great walks, lots of smilies and enough bison's in trees to last me a long time. Had to drop someone off at Ballarat Base Hospital this morning and then found myself with a few hours to spare so what better way to spend it than go caching. I'm not normally out this way so had lots of choice from the plentiful local supply so I decided to have a go at a couple of short series starting with the numbers series. You are certainly out in the open for most of these finds and need to keep an eye out for dog walkers, builders and bike riders.

A bit different from the first half of the series and made a bit more difficult by the house going up directly behind GZ. Eventually the builders wandered around the corner so I could grab the cache. Thanks for the cache Shamus1.

Found with several others so we called ourselves an acronym which from memory was MACC.

Found with Micaparamedic, Alansee, Team Crackers, Gonefishen07, Zobo04, Sully1, and ourselves today. The weather played havoc at times and the cold weather rolled in but in a group we soldiered on and had some fun along the way.
The caches were found one by one and we say thank to Shamus1 for this series.
