At first I was thinking it is really odd to call te kouka a tree, especially when the CO talks of "species", but then I notice that there is a wheki in the same series, and that is just a fern, so I guess the CO is being more general (will kiekie be added to the list?). I was expecting the find to be a bit problematic giventhe environment, but it turned out to be nice and quick.
I am tired of my streak. Of getting out and getting just one cache. It gets boring. Or something. So today I headed away from Wellington (away from my store of caches-for-my-streak) to the Wairarapa to get a bunch more. Maybe even ten. Maybe even more! Woohoo!

Found out in the open a few meters away and a bit wet. Hopefully restored to correct position now. Tftc
Camping at Kaitoke, had the key in the ignition to leave before I remembered I hadn’t checked for caches! This one was 40m from our campsite
Just finished cleaned up the remaining caches on the ridge track; this was a final stop before rushing off home to beat rush hour. The whole place was deserted today (not like last time I was here - summer weekend day) so I was able to get to GZ and find the cache without being disturbed. A nice quick find in the obvious place - that's my last cache within the Pakuratahi part of Kaitoke, and also another of the series done. It's been a long time but the end is now in sight!
Zusammen mit Panne Koppa und Mini_JayJay gerne Rivendell besucht und hier eine auch eine Nacht auf dem großen Campingplatz verbracht. Sehr schön hier und als HdR Fan ein muss in Neuseeland.

found while on a walk with my family completing the Norbert Creek loop, interesting to check out lots of different spots that we haven't previously visited at Kaitoke, cache nice and dry here, TFTC
We were close by so had a quick stop here to grab another smiley before heading back for a BBQ dinner at the nearby camp grounds.
Hoping to come back at some stage to do the rest of the caches in this series. We ran out of time on this visit. ThanksFTC. Cheers

Out for the day with Bkj97 and Little Blue Hen we travelled over the Akatawarawa Road to Upper Hutt. Then we went to the Kaitoke Regional Park and found some fantastic caches. A lovely hot day so thankful for the shade of the beautiful trees. All caches found easily, stamped and returned as found. TFTC
Found at the Mega Weekend. A family with two young children actually found it just before we arrived and were signing the logbook. The older boy was absolutely chuffed by his find. We signed the log and gave it back to him to proudly put it back. Tftc
Somewhat perplexed campers nearby who were relieved when I ignored them and continued on past. TFTC
Finally caching up on logs been overseas. Enjoyed our caching during the Mega. TFTC
Day 1 of Wellington Mega
Today's mission was to register, collect lab caches, other events and hopefully 11 different cache types in 1 day.
Tall order but we made it with a few minutes to spare.
We also collected other caches that we had solved prior to coming.
Turned into a bit of a day so sorry for the copy and paste of logs.
Thanks to the cache owners for the placement of these caches.
Looking at the greater picture of the Wellington area we have only scratched the surface so will be back at some stage. SLTFTC

Team BOP have descended upon the Wellington region for the 2018 WENZ MEGA. We have a lot of caches to get through so there isn’t a lot of down time but it's great to meet the locals, CO’s and fellow cachers. My online logs are largely cut’n’pasted because my memory has started to blur many of my finds together so apologies for that. We’ve signed logs as ‘TeamBOP’ or individually depending on log space and time. Lastly a big Thank You to the Team - TNXPro, Davidsonclan, McJandals, NZFlossy, FapandGap & Squirrel Nutcase and to all the CO’s that made this a memorable trip
Thecampers setting up camp very cosetothis cache would be wondering what was happening to their nice peaceful spot by the end of the weekend. They were too busy setting up camp to be worrying what we were up to wandering round in the undergrowth, TFTC # 13,129
WENZ Mega Weekend is finally here... After experiencing broken sleep at our accommodation, it was time to pull it together and get out there... With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and NZFlossy...
Saturday: Some more finds to carry us over to the next event. We still had time on our side, but the next few finds needed to be quick ones... TFTC.

Just a quick log to keep finds, TB visits and / or drop offs in order. Full log to follow
Picked this cache up as we attended the drive by. Met the CO - nice to meet you .... found the correct spot and tree. would like to do all the series but that will be for next time. Thanks for the cache.. (signed as Taniwha6) caching with Dodge1923, Remaker13, & Riser5

WENZ is New Zealand's 5th Mega Event ever and for months I have been anticipating in attending it. It is the first Mega Event that I have ever attended and sadly I could only come for one day, so early on Saturday morning my father and I got in the car and drove our way towards Upper Hutt for a hectic day of geocaching. In the end it was a spectacular day where we managed to found 67 geocaches somehow throughout the whole day, see a lot of new faces, catch up with friends and just have an altogether amazing time.
We had just been to the Kaitoke drive-by and since there was a Waves to Wairarapa question further up the road, we decided that it would be a good idea to go and answer that question while also picking up a few more geocaches in the area before heading back towards the Flashmob event.
We parked in the nearby car park and I jumped out and made my way over to the GZ, my phone seemed to be playing up a bit, so it was difficult to get in the right area. The hint made the hunt much easier though, once in the roundabout area, I looked around to find something that related to the clue, luckily the was once big thing that stuck out to me and when I went to investigate, I was met with the geocache. TFTC, great fun hide to find on this absolutely beautiful day!!

We had waited for twelve months for this weekend, we first heard about the event when we were at the Geofest in Oamaru. From that moment on we were committed to coming to Wellington to attend what turned out to be a Mega event.
Neither of us have ever spent anytime in or around Upper Hutt, so the playing board is totally full for us, it was a bit overwhelming where to start. We came to attend a nearby event. So while in the area we picked up a few traditionals and decided that this is an area we would like to visit again one day in the future. We were surprised at how many people were camping in the area, we thought they would be pleased with the weather. Although a bit later we had a sample of Wellington wind.
We drove a wee bit further up the road finding a few traditionals while we were here, before needing to head back towards Upper Hutt to attend the Falsh Mob event.
As we arrived at GZ there was a small group of people there, young Theo had found the cache and he was obviously feeling pretty proud of himself. I do wonder if the nearby campers went and had a look as to why there were so many people gathering just on the other side of the trees from where they were camping.
Thank you for placing the cache and of course thank you for the smilie

Attending the Wellington MEGA, was great to visit from the sunny Bay of Plenty, my finds have been found with my team, and signed TEAM BOP, to save room on logs. We are really enjoying ourselves and its great to see so many different sights. Please excuse my generic logging in advance and there are sooo many logs to do. Many thanks to all you cache owners out there for all your hard work. Cheers.
We couldn't help thinking the nearby campers might regret their choice of spot as it was probably not as peaceful as usual this afternoon. Luckily the cache spot was not in line of sight for them. Quick find while in the area for the Mega driveby.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Out on a MEGA day pass attempting to find enough caches to make the MEGA Event my 12k find.
Having briefly attended the nearby event and had a chin wag it was time to find a few more hides.
Campers were nearby but I was well shielded from them to make the find.

Attending the mega with TeamBOP. Great time to catch up with other cachers and visit Wellington lLots of fun and laughs while finding lots of great caches Thanks to all the COs for providing all the caches and the work that goes into them. Signed logs as Team BOP to save space and time for us . Sorry for the generic logs will try to add to them once back home Thanks
After a day of reconisence in the area we started to head home. One more stop following the direction of a blue and white sign from the highway and here we found ourselves in an area of more caches.
We settled on just grabbing the one before continuing our journey north.
Cheers.

I have set myself a goal to get the requirements for the mystery cache The well-rounded cacher challenge (Manawatu) This requires me to get 25 badges 5 of which need to be gemstone badges. So each time I now go out caching weather it is by myself or with fellow cacher I will try to get a least one cache that will help me get closer to my goal
Out here with scoria for a pitstop notice that there nearby caches and decided to grab one while we were here, we didn't have the time to grab any more caches but I am planning on coming back soon to get the rest of the caches that are here should make for a good day of caching

Original cache placement was away from the mown grass, but since then the grass has been mown right up to the original cache tree and the cache was muggled as a result. Have moved new container to a new nearby tree that provides better cover for the hide.

Was going to replace the log today, but the cache has gone missing . Will come back with another container to re-enable it within a day.
Here at Kaitoke Regional Park for four days with school groups doing training for Duke of Edinburgh awards. Two of the days were extremely wet and cold but this is still such a beautiful place. Only had time to find this one cache - a memento of my stay. Thanks Barnaby.
As I had been working all week I decided enough was enough and decided to go for a walk in the Kaitoke Regional Park. The road up the hill was not to bad with plenty of caching stops. Taking the smaller path down the northern end was another story with plenty of very steep parts. Pleased there were no mishaps and that I took the route I did. Grabbed some more caches while walking along the road back to my car which was parked in the ranger station. Altogether a good walk but the legs feel it a bit. A quick find. Everything in order. TFTC

Out and about with team geocacher Mr. T in an area we have not been before. We'd picked an overcast day, with no wind, so perfect for caching. Not too hot (we've had an ongoing heatwave with record temperatures recently), just pleasantly warm. The cache was a quick find. Thanks for the cache and for the interesting details about this tree. We have several in our garden at home, I really like them.
A quick find with the GPS taking us directly to the cache which is nice and dry inside. Now off to do some bush walking !
What's a guy to do when his gf's in bed with a hangover? Take her car and go geocaching of course! Easy find, TFTC.
