Unfortunately we did not spot the cache today, we may have had tunnel vision though. Will be back one day to try again.
Quite a rusty mint tin, took some good looking before we found this one. 12/7/23
I managed to get my dot day sorted just before so I'm not bothered with this one. Oh but I can walk that far so it would be rude not to. Oh I'm not going to go if I have to clean my shoes. But that's important so that's just what we do so get on with it. Oh it might be here tho. Oh it is. Google says it's toetoe rather than toitoi so I'd need to practice my pronunciation on that. I'm just happy that at last I've sorted, and can remember the difference between plentiful thick seed heads of pampas grass and thinner, more straggly toetoe. Tftc
A nice quick find, first for the day. Thanks for placing your cache.
Ms_KR and I are in Auckland Auckland for a break and we are exploring the region while we are based here. Tday we went over to some of the West Coast beaches. The weather was lovely as were the views of the coast..
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

Managed to get out today to give Little April a run, and thought Id have another quick look at this one. Have looked briefly before and so with a little more time today I though I might be in luck. GPS had me quite a way off as I found out after my "YOU DUMB ARSE" moment. All the clues were there , but went over my Geriatric head ....until.... the lightbulb moment.....Doohhaaa....Thanks for another exercise in frustration, (this time of my own making)...cheers, and stay safe...V
Reached out and touched where it might be and the beggar jumped onto the floor, gotcha.
With a free weekend stretching before me like a free thing I needed to come up with a plan as to what I would do with the available caching time. I decided upon a Friday trip to Piha, Saturday a trip out to Waitawa Regional Park and Clevedon and Sunday will be Orewa and Millwater. No real goals, just find some caches and enjoy the weather.
I left work a little early so as to beat the traffic through the main busy bits, and I was successful thankfully. I managed a few caches and it was lovely and quiet everywhere before the weekend warms up with people everywhere.

Luckily there was no cutty grass in the vicinity of this cache, pheeww. Walked to this cache from the nearby carpark after completing the walk to the Upper Nihotupu dam. The water level is incredibly low at the moment... TFTC
Finally in L2 we could get out for a careful walk to the dam. Got this on the way out
Looked everywhere. Not sure if it is still there. Maybe update your clue/cache?
Today was the day that I tried to sign off all the caches on the roadside of Scenic Drive. I was very thankful that I didn't have my snail shell in tow but then being an ex-Aucklander I knew what this road was like.
I was also thankful that today was a weekday when the traffic is a tad lighter.
Took a little while to locate tas the GPS was bouncing about a bit.
Cheers for the cache.

On our way to Piha there are many interesting places to see
We stopped here and there to look for a cache or two, fun driving
Found well after checking the most likely away spots

Out and about on this splendid Autumn day for a spot of cache detection as I make my way out to the west coast. Took me a few minutes to get thinking clearly on this hide. Did scratch myself before I had a brainwave. Yeah, that is a more sensible spot, now isn't it? Cheers for the cache placement!
Out to do the Nihutupu dam walkway and whilst waiting for some friends we wandered up the road to grab this. Found in the 2nd place we looked. Thanks Glyn
When we first started geocaching we came past here and thought about looking for this one but the light was going and we didn't know what we were doing so we gave it away. We have enough experience now to have this one found in a minute or so thanks to the very clear description. Last one for today - onwards to home, thanks for placing this here - tempted to head down the track for the other two, but Albert was too tired for another walk on this trip.
#3249. We are up in Auckland on holiday visiting family. Today it was a bit wet outside so just stayed indoors most of the time. But in the afternoon there was a chance to get out for a bit of caching out west. I managed to park up next to the GZ but I didn't have my caching brain turned on for a few minutes so searched a number of spots without success. Then I started to look more carefully for hiding spots and saw one potential place I had not inspected and hey presto there was the cache. Signed the log and replaced as found. Thanks for hiding it here.
Returning from hiking around Karekare with Gorby and merlot58. Had to stop here on the drive back, of course so that I could find the cache. Not too difficult to locate with merlot's pointed hint. Only afterwards did I spot what the hint referred to. Nicely done.
After spending most of the afternoon walking around Anawhata beach, its now 5.30 pm, its getting late, and I better get home before they send out the search parties.
Missed it the first pass, then thinking to myself where else could it be, tried again, and this time had the cache. Thanks for the hide, I needed an easy one

Pouring rain after a grey day while visiting Piha, didn't really look around, found the cache pretty quicly, in good condition, signed as CSNZ a geocacher group hunting. TFTC, cheers from Polynesia, nzkeko
Well done, interesting area - but pouring with rain now so we wont explore further today. TFTC CSNZ group on a cache hunt
Easy find on way to a friends place in Piha.
Didn’t go anywhere near the cutty grass
many thanks!!

many thanks!!
Needed to wait for some muggles to move on before the easy find was completed. Now on to Piha. TFTC
Heh, you are really lucky! You only have the cutting gras and very, very few moskitos and blackbeeries. In Germany we have blackbeeries everywhere and mosquitos, ticks and millions of stinging nettles. And a lot of other plants with thorns. But I was carefull when I approached to this cache but it was harmless.
Thanks a lot for the cache.

Tomorrow we leave Auckland for Mt Maunganui, so it was our last chance to head out to Piha, a first visit for me and a second after many years for StreetWalker. We thought a weekday would be a quieter option than a weekend day, and so it was. What a beautiful part of the country. Many thanks to the COs for taking us to some interesting places.
We were wondering whether we should stop for this cache as we both hate cutty grass and I already had a rash on my arms from an earlier encounter. But we didn't have to worry. Cache was a quick find, and no injuries sustained. TFTC.

#11739. This one reminded me a long archived Ashburton multi called something like the hazards of geoaching. We got through the first three or four stages, but then were faced with finding a container in a wall of huge toi tois that were planted beside a country road. We made several visits, but to no avail. TFTC.
The pencil lying on the ground gave me a hint as to where the cache may be hiding! Soon located and pencil replaced inside. TFTC!
Had just done the mercer bay climb and was heading home. Had 4 of us, so to save space we signed the log as "SEAC" (South & East Auckland Crew)
The was a young father and his cute little girl near the GZ about to ride there little racing car.
Took a little bit of hunting, but we got there.

Having just completed an event at Mercer Bay a group of us were picking up a few caches on our way home and signing the log 'Team SEAC' to save space.
I really hate cutty grass when looking for caches, as well as flax come to think of it

On our way back home after completing the Mercey Bay multi, the plan was to collect a few roadside caches, and this one fit the bill nicely.
A suitable pull off was located and GZ found shortly followed by the cache.... log signed and cache returned.
Signed as SEAC to save log book space.
On to the next.

Heading home from the Mercer Bay climb with UncleSamNZ, dragon.griffin and Stik-a-crane. We decided that since we were out this way, in an area where none of us come to often, we may as well grab a few caches while we were here.
Pulled up to GZ, and someone uttered the all-too-familiar sigh;"muggles". Luckily they were more interested in their motorised car toy than what we were doing, and were happy with our "treasure hunting" description! Looked in a few places before we found it (we didn't read the hint.... whoops ), with all of us glad not to have sustained any "cutty grass" injuries during the process!

The hint doesn't make sense. Isn't GZ where the cache is?
Anyways, I used the description to narrow down the possible hiding places and I finally found the cache at GZ. (Now I'm being pedantic. [8]) TFTC.

Hmmm, had me worried with the title and what to expect, but an easy find once we were there. Thanks.
Had arranged to met up with Trout-fly today to pick up as many drive by caches as we could. Had a great time finding 35/35 for the day, Nice quick find here and back on the road again. Thanks
My mission for today was to walk the dam to dam track and find as many caches as I could along the way. It took me about 5.5 hours car park to car park. After that I had to trudge back along the road to get back to my car and found this cache along the way. I found something that I thought might be the cache but it wasn't. Reread the listing and a couple of logs and then I put my hand on the cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Found after a long search and a paf confirming we were in the right place, we decided to have another sweep as did not want to finish the day with a dnf after a great caching day. Merlot found well hidden in tree, now back as per clue.
We were heading back home after a successful caching day at Piha, and stopped to get one last cache. After an extensive search I PAF'd who said yes, we were looking in the right place and it should be easy, so not wanting to finish the day with a dnf, we decided to have one last look and to extend the search. It took awhile but I eventually found it well hidden in a nearby tree which is not where you would expect to find a magnetic cache! After signing the log we replaced the cache where it should be as per the description and hint. Great hint by the way!
Hmm found in interesting location other than where it was supposed to but otherwise good condition.
Brought here today on a week day tramp with other cachers. Thought I'd get one or two more than everyone else.

Grabbed this cache as we headed back to the car. Lovely area for a spot of caching.Took a bit of searching before finally making the grab. Thanks
Another stop to collect my last three geocaches of the day. Great walk around the area exploring the Dam. Quickly found and replaced. TFTC
Wow, that is an obvious GZ. finding the container took a little longer, but not much. Tftc.
Vistra and I were returning from Piha and stopped to make a quick find on our way home, hate cutty grass, thankfully it was a quick find.

After walking the 12 km or so around Alligatorsnz caches across the road i decided to finish off with these ones. Quick find on my way back to the car.
Quick park and grab after walking down to the nearby dam with walking group on a drizzly Sunday ! Thanks for this!!!!
We took a drive this evening down memory lane - we both used to play with cutty grass as children. Parked at the gate and walked to GZ. Once there the clever hint made perfect sense, and the cache was quickly in hand. Thanks.
Well, I wasnt going to let this one beat me so I paid it another visit after work. Spent about 30 min getting to know every cutty grass within a 50 km radius (thats what it felt like!). Gave up in frustration then reread the description properly.....found it within seconds....gee wizzzz. Tftc
Hmmmmm.Looked around for a few minutes without success. Not sure what I was missing here despite the hint. Will try again when I have more time.
Found with TucanoVic (from Brazil) on the way back from a walk to Te toiokewharu.

Hmmmm. Those hints come in handy. Especially when you know you can't see what you are looking for at GZ.
I was out here last weekend (walked the Cutty Grass and Ian Wells tracks) just prior to the cache being published. Anyhow found myself in the area again after finding another cache at Fairy Falls. Always a nice place to revisit. TFTC.
Nice had me searching for a couple of mins then rechecked ahhh i missed it at first look tftc Lokky 1 7 March 2015 10:45
Lazing about home when the notification came through and figured it had been a while since I'd dropped everything in search of a cache so locked up the house and shot off up the road. Parked at the dam carpark and wandered the rest of the way up the road just as FMZ showed up (good to know my ninja disguise is working well). Quick look around and the cache was in hand without any bother (other than that pesky gorby well and truly beating us) TFTC
Headed out a few minutes after this one was published and arrived at GZ to find evilno9 (who I embarrassingly did not initially recognise!) had just begun searching. I straight away spotted something interesting and that led me straight to the cache. Missed the FTF by 15 minutes - Gorby was quick tonight. TFTC!!!
