I enjoy trails like this one where I can walk a good distance and collect a number of caches on the way. I use a combination of driving to intersecting roads, then walk in both directions. Whenever I attend a CITO south of Ballarat, I try to grab a few more in this series.Today that number was 32 - most found easily, with a couple that took a while. I enjoyed my walk across the bridge, and on the way back, I went down and up the other side.My thanks for the cache, GemmaSistema.
Four of us - the Youngest Monster, Miss Tween Monster, Old Man Monster and muggle Grandfather Monster who is on his first caching trip are travelling between BSRT Pine Bend and BSRT Giveway at Linton-Piggoreet Rd. Being Good Friday and a beautiful day, we are starting at this Pine Bend and heading to Linton to hopefully find I think 37 caches along the rail trail. The youngest Monster came in and found this one!! TFTC!!
With milder weather this week, Chook and Wozzle68 teamed up again for another walk on the BSRT. Wow that's a well hidden picnic table off the track - but with nice views though. TFTC GemmaSistema.
This evening I spotted a nice size group of new caches out on the BSRT that were waiting for their first finder. A call to Neville_devil and he was in for a late night assault on them. I was really interested because I was still looking for a first to find this month to continue my monthly streak with a first to find.It was a cool but beautiful night for a walk and with a few caches up this section of the trail it was rather pleasant trip. This section of the track had a few older caches that that we just could resist turning into smileys as we went past on our first to find hunt. This one took a little bit to find in the dark with our GPS bouncing around a little bitThank you GemmaSistema for the smiley
Found at 1:33 PM GAFF1.Wow - that was unexpected! A nice picnic spot that would have had a great view many years ago, but now the trees are obstructing those views. We could see mullock heaps and pastures down there.Cache surprisingly had a live anemic spider in there - what the heck was it eating? Thanks to GemmaSistemaFeedback: Container is no longer a "regular" but a "small" - 200 ml Sistema.
We decided to give part of the rail trail a go and of course grab some caches in the way, we stopped here for lunch and took in the view, thanks for the cache
i've never walked along here before but its safe to say that i'll be back. loved the scenery and the walk that came with it:) stopped for a picnic and walked up for awhile on the track finding some caches along the way. all part of the fun
the picnic here was yum and the cache was found very quickly. little guy tried on the gloves but unfortunately nothing to trade. thanks for the cache:)

A lovely place to finally rest our feet for a moment, and a great view to admire, after finding this cache. An easy find. All good at GZ. Log signed and an alien left. Replaced as found. Thanks for another goodie, GemmaSistema!
After leaving Rutherglen and attending a wedding in Taradale we headed across to the 'rat to spend some time before Lady Morris had her mouth surgery.
We camped at Smythesdale and today we jumped on the bikes to head towards Linton and put a bit of a dent in that stretch of caches.
We did manage to get there - approx 40 kms of riding that is going to hurt tomorrow. I think that leaves us with about 4 left to find including one DNF today.
Thanks for contributing to the fun GemmaSistema A good spot for lunch with a pretty cool view across the creek.

Headed out for a ride along this part of the rail trail to grab a few for the day. I completed about 75% of the series way back in 2015 when down here on a solo caching run. Good to actually live here now so I can take my time and finish it all. Todays tally was 11 and 1 DNF, before heading back to the car and getting out of the wind.
Thanks GS....and I agree with others, this a great spot to sit for a while, which I did. Fav point for the view.

Find #2973 for me. Found at 10.30am with my dog Bonnie while visiting the area from Bendigo. This one took me a while to find, but I eventually spotted a location which matched the hint. And what a fantastic location! Amazing spot! Thanks so much for highlighting this wonderful picnic area Gemma, and thanks for the cache!
The cache is in such great condition! Great swag, great hide. I Suggest changing the size to ‘small’ though. TFTC
Fourth full day in Ballarat and with the kids still asleep, we continued our holiday tradition of Huntress off on a long run, while I went off geocaching. This morning I was focusing on the Goldern Plains LGA. As such we drove to Smythesdale and while I started geocaching heading South, Huntress started her 20 kilometre run back to Ballarat.
Most caches found in good condition and pretty quick for myself who often takes forever to find a basic hide. Think the total for this morning was 19 finds with only 2 DNF, and that should take my Goldern Plains LGA to over 20.
Nice turning point for the morning here. Saw the most people here than anywhere else on the trails.
Thanks for the cache Gemma Sistema

On the way to visit Dad in Portland. January this year we attempted ones nearby but couldn't find this one as it was missing. I made a quick find this time and then we pulled grass seed out of our sneakers. Thanks for the cache.
Found it back in 2019 with Sunsong1 but missed logging it. Thanks for the cache.

Back this afternoon with the geofamily to get some sunshine and fresh air after being cooped up for what seemed like months with all the wet weather we've had. A nice walk to GZ after watching the heavy flow of water rushing down the Woady River and soon had the replacement cache found, much appreciated after my last visit here came up empty handed . Tftc GemmaS, good to get out again.

SueHut and I have finally made it to the Rail Trail, are on bikes and finding caches! Go us!
Not a regular as advertised, but SueHut made very short work of it anyway.
Thanks heaps, GemmaSistema!

Whilst not a regular as promised I found it easily as I was not a springy up the slope as hubby was. So easy find this time. Thanks for the cache
Accompanied with pwala and found your cache GemmaSistema, thank you so much for placing it.
Out with crank1, we attended a CITO at Napoleons, then came here to this area with our e-bikes. Thanks GemmaSistema.
What a perfect little spot for a picnic! Some more incredible views here. Looking under rocks and logs makes me very nervous when out in nature, but the cache was soon in hand (after calling out for another set of eyes from my family, who already seemed tiny down the trail... ). TFTC!
Pretty sure we found these in November 2020 but obviously forgot to log them, refound them today took the lil pup out for a bit of a family adventure:) beautiful views great location and history! Great hides TFTC
Nice clever hide

Hi there GemmaSistema,
This cache has been flagged by Geocaching HQ as a cache that **MAY** need some attention.
You may recall having received an automated email from Geocaching HQ which explained what you needed to do.
Unfortunately, nothing seems to have happened, so I am having to take the next step and temporarily disable the cache - see here: [**Geocache Health Score.**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=713)
**You do need to respond in some way within 14 days, so others know you are on top of it, as well as indicating exactly what is happening with this placement - please don't let a lack of communication scuttle this listing.**
#What should you do now:-#
You have a number of choices so pick the one that applies from this handy list:-
- **Check On The Cache:-** Visit the cache to check, repair, replace or do whatever else is needed, post an [**Owner Maintenance log**](http://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=404) indicating the cache has been checked and [**ENABLE your cache.**](https://support.groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=235 ) Then sit back and wait for the logs of praise to roll in.
- **Place A Write Note Log:-** Reviewers don't have a crystal ball, so without your note on the cache page explaining that the site works are on-going, or you have been in hospital, or the area is in flood, they can't tell what is going on with the cache.
So please just post a note to the page (within 14 days) and when a Reviewer next looks at the listing, all will be fine for a little bit longer.
**Be sure to indicate the actual date that you expect to have it fixed so that everyone knows you are on top of it. If you have a long term unavailable cache (where you don't have an actual date) please ensure you visit the page and post a note every 4 to 6 weeks, so as to keep everyone up to speed.**
- **Adopt/Archive:-** If you don't plan on fixing it then you could consider passing it on to another Geocacher by asking them to [**Adopt it**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=54) or alternatively, you need to [**Archive it,**](https://www.geocaching.com/help/index.php?pg=kb.chapter&id=38&pgid=56) so it is removed from searches and someone else can have the spot. Don't forget to remove any remnants of your previously enjoyed cache too.
You might wonder what happens if you don't pick one of the above. Well, when the cache is next checked by a Reviewer, if the issue has not been addressed, or there is no acknowledgment as requested above, it will be assumed the cache has been abandoned and processed accordingly.
Honestly, I'd rather you decide, so please do something before then. Please don't send me an email but instead follow the information/advice posted above.
Thanks for your cooperation,

The last day of Xmas/New Year break so we decided to take out the treadlies and complete part of the BSRT - Smythesdale to Linton section.
A lovely day to spend outdoors and find some tupperware before we are stuck indoors and back to working from home.
However, this one eluded us. We did find an obvious hiding spot but nothing was to be found.

With both kids at Scout Jamboree we had a holiday in Ballarat. I decided we should attempt a distance along the BSRT. This was our last one for the day. We had a decent look and were unable to locate. We will save it for when we brig the kids and do the opposite direction. Will advise CO that it is possibly missing.
A freedom day (at last) to enjoy some sunshine. Been wanting to finish the Linton section of this trail for a long time so with looking for an excuse to take the new e- bike out for a spin today was the day.
Spent a long time looking and found a few obvious hidey spots but no cache was found. I'll put this one on the watchlist and be back another day. Thx anyway.

Out riding the BSRT with Dromaniax on a prefect winters day, locating all hides along the way.
We came in two cars leaving them at each end of the section we completed today.
A great spot to rest and take in the view.
Log signed and replaced as found.
Thanks for the Traditional Cache GemmaSistema

It was a perfect morning for getting on a bike and Geocaching on the Ballarat Skipton Rail Trail. Ausfox; and Mr Dromaniax set off to turn as many dots into smileys as possible. There was barely a breeze and only a few clouds making riding really enjoyable. The Trail itself is in fantastic condition with a well-compacted surface making the riding pretty easy. Finally, Mr Dromaniax found the cache! This would indeed be a nice place for a picnic on a pleasant Spring or Autumn afternoon. The cache was in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache GemmaSistema.
On a road trip to Western Victoria, picking up random caches as we check out the area. This was day 15 of the 16 day trip and we are now camping at Clarkesdale Bird Sanctuary. After a trip in to Ballarat we went to check out Nimmons Bridge and of course pick up a couple of caches here as well. After eating lunch at the picnic table near the carpark we walked across the historical trestle bridge to another picnic table on the other side where the cache was and it was Mrs Pooky who made the find. We then walked back to the car via the creek crossing track. TFTC and bringing us to this walking trail.
Day five of the Geo Tour adventure. The others had to head home so I’m travelling solo today to gather some adventure labs and other caches around the area.
A late start but first cache of the day admiring this wonderful bridge. A lovely picnic spot to stop for a bite to eat.
Thanks GemmaSistema for the cache.

After a crazy year, it’s time to get away for a bit of R&R, and of course a cache or two.
Day five: BSRT - Smythesdale to Linton.
With dodgy muggles right at gz earlier, I decided to leave this for the return trip.
Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache, GemmaSistema

Find 2/3 for today. I was having a good look for this one while Liv waited at the table with our Geoson. After a few minutes Liv said, that’s it there is it ? Well done Liv. Lots of cool swag in this one but not log ? TFTC.
Nice spot to take in the valley views. Found on a cold windy day. Not many on the rail trail today TFTC

Our apologies for the generic logs, they do not mean that we think any less of the caches or the placement of them.
Today we have decided to camp here at Smythesdale for a few days and go cache hunting in the area plus head into Ballarat to have a look around. We enjoyed the walk along the trail, we met with an interesting man walking two dogs who told us that about 100 meters ahead a snake had had a go at his dog. He also mentioned that the trail is known for there being quite a few snakes along it, so we picked up a nice sized stick to hopefully protect ourselves if needed and there was no need we did not see any snakes. All caches that we found today are in condition. SL TFTC

A 6 hour Rogaine and an MTBO event held by Eureka Orienteering club = a weekend of nav and exploring the area. Just to finish let’s ride the scenirail trail and of course grab a few caches! Thanks for the series.
A little difficult to pick the altitude for this one (hint-go up) but once at the right elevation a fairly quick and easy find.
In Ballarat for the upcoming festivities I decided to walk a section of the BSRT. I parked the car in the middle of the target area (in case the first leg proved too time consuming) and began the walk and kept walking and walking and walking all 19.5km or so my Garmin informed me.
Most caches were quick and easy finds. A couple had either been subject to cache creep or were just devious (Pine Bend). Thanks to all the cache owners who have both put them out and continue to maintain them for everyone's enjoyment.

Keen to find a couple of Hidden Creatures today, we headed for Linton to walk some of the BSRT.
A lovely spot! Went all the way down to the creek and up again, then crossed the bridge for the next one.
Nice hide. Left a dodo as a swap.

After another early morning mission, it was now time to meet up with Jacko83 so the we could tackle the BSRT from Scarsdale to Linton.
It turned out to be a great day for a ride but boy it was an icy start on the trail.
This one wasn't too hard to find once we were in the right spot.
**Thanks to GemmaSistema for placing this cache.**

En route from Warrnambool to Ballarat, we had the opportunity to put a couple more smiley tokens beside the rail trail, in the section near Newtown. Our last stop for this ride, how far can we get up the hill before needing to change gear?
Thanks 'GemmaSistema' for placing caches for everyone's enjoyment.

It has been ages since we (BettyBoo3747 and I) came to Ballarat and completed the BSRT. Since then it has grown somewhat, but we hadn't returned. This weekend we have teamed up with Chewin (Howard from Howjen567) to correct this oversight.
We started with a DNF at Linton, but after that our luck improved and we collected most of the caches available.
A love ride along the tree lined route. We managed to avoided the weather until the very last cache, and even then only got a bit damp.
Thanks, Robmc.
